View Full Version : If you knew what PC would be like today...

...would you still have joined when you did? Would you want to make the same friends again, knowing how your relationships would eventually end up? Would you want to join anyway, knowing that certain people wouldn't like you?
*This is more aimed at people who have been here a while. Not really people who joined just two or three months ago.
**Lets assume that you couldn't change what happened, other than you joining or not joining. You would make the same friends, meet the same people, etc.
To be honest, I probably wouldn't. None of my old friends talk to me anymore, there are alot of people I don't particularly like... I won't go into too much detail.

I probably still would've... except, I would've enjoyed the people I knew while they were still there. This is meaning only one person, well, a few others too, but mainly one. But that's the thing, I still don't know what's ahead in the future of PC so I can't make a complete judgement, until PC closes down in a hundred or so years. XD

Hmm...Yeah. The forum is great. And yeah of course, I would have made many new friends. But, some of them, evantually, will never talk and all that. ._.

I probably would have (and I laugh when I say this). It seems things haven't really changed much at all from when I joined two years ago; it's just my perception of it all.

Hmm... this is a hard one. Well from my perspective, I say things have changed alot during the past 2 years. It used to be so much fun back then. Plus I used to post loads. I guess I would still be joining now. I mean for some people... person.

I definitely would have. If I hadn't... then I wouldn't have half my friends, I may have committed suicide already, and I'd be an emo n00b. My friends I've made on PC have made an impact on my life |D So, in the end, I'm really glad I joined.

Yes, I'd join once again. Because I've met a lot of people and it made me a bit more known around the world :)
If I knew everything was going to be the same, I'd join, even when I know some people may not like me (what can I do? It's impossible to please everyone, no matter the place)

I'd join in a heartbeat and I'd try to talk to the people I met sooner. I have met so many people through PC, and most of them are my best friends now. No matter if we end up not talking anymore or something, I'd do it all over again; I don't know what I would've done without them a lot of times.

My decision to come back really says it all. PC really doesn't mean as much to me as it did 2 years ago. If I didn't join 2 years ago and did not know what I was missing, then I would join this time. It's not an easy question to answer.

YES YES YES YES ;0;
The time I joined PC was the perfect time for me to join I think; there were just so many nice people! There still are today actually! It's just how you go about to meet them and who you meet that time will only change. Back when rep was all 'oooh' and 'ahhh' and all that other stuff that PC did XD. PC was really so much fun when I first joined! PC president campaigns and such! ^O^ PC's gotten less of a real community IMO since then, but still it's a great place to be because of those bonds I made when I joined. I'm glad I joined at the time I did!

Um..Maybe?
I don't know if I would still want to just hang out with the same people allover again; being a newb, you still have the opportunity to go on a PMing spree asking every other person you see to be friends.
I don't really have that opportunity anymore xD
But yeah, I would have still joined..

The main reason I joined was because of my search for that Pokemon Adventures manga. AHEMAHEMAHEMSORRYIJUSTDROPPEDMYCHEWINGGUMAHEM
I'd still join, but I would probably post.. and post, "myaw hi gauyz ahm swo ttyl nue n kewl " thing, lurk, disappear, and go back where I normally came from.
~SENTIMENTAL TIAM LET US SIGH TOGETHER AND SING A SONG~
The people back then held a lot of interest to me, strange activities happened around, and I chatted with some people in here that no longer exist right now. For some reason.
And I was young too, so I got pulled in and thus why I'm still here.
If I'm new and look at PC today, I would think it's too strict/astringent, and I would be deathly afraid to join and create threads, PM, etc, and take a look-around-a.
Sure, I'll read the rules, but being a paranoid android I am...
And by now, my slots for comfort and the way I think eh-- so on would be different than about two years ago. (Well, actually, umm...)
Though that's just my guess. PC is still entertaining for me to look around, and people are still very friendly.
OH OH AND THE EXCITING ADVENTURES YOU WILL RECEIVE WHEN YOU MAKE HAPPY LITTLE TREES AND---...

I think I agree with you to a degree there, Cooks. :O
For a while I was a bit intimidated by PC, so I didn't post much (hence my length of membership / post count ratio being so wonky. :x..) I don't know what it is, but for some reason PC was just really intimidating. It was really hard to post outside of Webbies for a long while, but recently I've been branching out more and find it much easier to participate in conversations. :3
(+50 points for the word "astringent" :O lawl xD)
As for replying to the topic of this thread.. obviously I've been here for a few years, but I haven't posted much. I've been active in the PokeCommunity chat since the very start, though, and I can definitely say I wouldn't trade my time there or the friends I made in it for anything. I love their company more than I can put into words, and I consider them some of the finest people I know. ^-^

Well, what people for some reason fail to comprehend, is that forum growth almost guarantees a stricter environment. It's easy to let people do almost anything they please when you only have a small group to look after, but as the group grows in numbers, it's only natural to lay down more rules to accommodate for everyone. Some people have no problem accepting this, but there are quite a few people who can't seem to accept it. Would I like PC to go back to the way it was when I joined three years ago? Most certainly. Is it possible? Ahh... I sincerely doubt it. Perhaps if we didn't have so many idiots running a mock that like to break even the simplest of rules. What I'm saying is, if more people would take the five minutes out of their day to read the rules, and then actually follow them, we could probably loosen up somewhat.
But on topic, I'd still join, yeah. As pathetic as it may sound, I've gained a lot of confidence as an individual from being staff. XD;

Certainly. Give an inch, some will try to take a mile. I've seen that sort of thing happen in other places as well, and unfortunately like you said, in that case the only real "solid" way to handle it is to set down more stricter guidelines.
(I'll stop replying now, given that this is heading really off-topic. XD)

Yes, i would, and even though i couldn't change anything, I would've tried to stop the Admins do that horrible April fool's joke and prevent the diaster that hapened afterwards, and some old members would still be here today.

I recognized already that it's the members transforming PC into a stricter environment. Since I'm still here, people who are reinforcing the rules are pretty much doing a good job by.. yes.
But if I first join at some place, I wouldn't really think about what I'm saddening things. Unless I have some sort of goal such as making friends or getting magical powers so I can finally become a wizard, online. HAHAHAHAHHAHAAAehh...err...ehhhrr..
My head will be too busy with something like, "I wonder if I'm free to do this... or that..." I don't think I'm alone with this. |D;
And something like, "GEEBLEZ, THIS IS MAH CHANCE TO RECEIVE... EXEHTUHRAH.." if I'm interested in Polgamans DP GLOBALLY TUBULAR TRADARING WRRRRRYYY etc.
Mostly, wishful/hopeful thinking.
Well... I feel grateful and lucky at the time I joined, I shortly met really awesome people that changed me. OH, BOO HOOOO~~~~!! And all these mini-adventures I had in here went by really smoothly.
I wouldn't like to miss that. +pet pet Mr. Awdseeinkles+
And I don't think I'll meet them if I sign-up this day... Who knows (???) http://i15.tinypic.com/68j26va.gif +chicken neck scruffle+
Though.. I just remembered that I found PC long before I actually joined..
Who knows +brick'd+ what I would be doing back then!
Making kazillions of trainer cards with pretty sparkles and such at day.. and pawning the n00bs with my "wonderful" skillz at night. Obviously.
...horrible April fool's joke...
..... :\ 8/ :\ 8/ :| :\ +snortgiggle+ ...... 8|........ |D~~

Yes. I think I still would have for the same reasons that I joined in the first place.
PC has changed in the past year, at least IMO, but I don't think it would have made any difference to me joining.

Well, If My Old friends are still here then yes,
A lot of things had happened and I didn't notice a thing about the change of PC
that's what In My mind anyways, I think I will start a fresh start of a new name and um, try to befriend people that I have met in the past and um...make some new friends
It's not like it's the end of the world if I befriend right? O.o

Yes, and not just because I'm a s-mod, mind you. D< To say my position wouldn't be a factor is a lie, but to say that the power is the only reason I'd come is a lie too.
I met a lot of friends here (a lot compared to how many friends I make, anyway), and I wouldn't want to lose any of them. PC has changed quite a bit, but I like it back then and right now. I'd enjoy the place if I was a member right now, I'm pretty sure of that. I might not post as often as I do now, but I'd still be posting here. :D

Before PC I was at Hyrule Town Square (not advertising since it's closed now! XD). I like PC and have had some good times but...does not compare for me. PC was a lot more fun for me in the begin. Now, I visit infrequently and rarely post. I mostly read. But, that said...without PC I have no idea which forum I would be at right now. No idea at all. I joined here because I had a friend here. Never heard of PC before.
So...I have no idea how to answer this. :x

I would defiantly join up again. mainly so i can talk to one person. I still find the place OK. When I first signed up it was better. Now most of the activity is in the D/P section.
