Story:
Giovanni is having a competition to see who will be his successor in leading Team Rocket. The competition is between you and your sister, and you must beat all of the gyms and the elite four.

Really I changed ALOT in this hack, much of which has never been done before in a first generation game, I just don't want to ruin it.

Bugs:
Some pokemon have in party sprites
When viewing trainer card, gym leaders pictures have glitches sprites ontop
Random sprites change on some routes
Some trainers have different names
When viewing pokemon stats, its types do not show

Just because some say not sure doesn't mean I won't fix it. I will try to figure out how, and if that fails I will create a workaround (like, if necessary, removing them from the game)

Sweet! Can't wait to try this out! I remember back in the day (when I was new to hacks) I seen these two hacks (well they were a pair) of gold, it was Jesse Version, and James version. Thought this was it being continued at first, but its still cool to see this one!

Thanks guys. I don't think I'll be releasing a beta since I probably only have a week worth of work (try saying that ten times fast) left. The thing is, there are two parts where I actually don't know how to do it, so that might take longer. I'll release more screenshots soon, but if someone actually looked harder they might find a fifth screenshot I hid somewhere.

And snowy, what do you mean by remapping the pokemon? You mean changing their pictures, such as in Pokemon Brown? That might or might not have been done. ;)

Wow,this looks pretty cool! Im usually not attracted to hacks that don't have Fire Red Leaf Green graphics and I usually always HATE Team Rocket Hacks but something is compelling me from clicking the back button...I will definatly come back to see how this is going. Good luck!

Nice to see a red hack around. I have actually done the same with a old hack of mine (the re pointing of the pictures) So for example ash's back image is pointing at the old man.

this is a good hack, but i have some questions:
1 when you fight giovanni throughout the regular red, blue, and yellow games, is it going to be giovonni or someone else, and is the eight badge going to be coming from him or not?

But the Ekans and the Meowth in the intro look a bit... uhm... not right. Why don´t you use the Sprites/Backsprites of the game?
And another question: Is the "Hero" James? Because the sprite in the intro is deffenetly NOT James. You could use the G/S/C sprites of them, or am I wrong?

But all the other things look great.

Instead of Giovanni and Team Rocket, you will fight the police force and its chief.

Also, I can't use their front sprites and back sprites because the intro is editable in a tile editor, while the sprites are not. I know I can import pictures, but I actually like the intro because I know I made it myself (same reason for the James sprite instead of ash).
Plus, it would be too hard to import because each row has a different number of blocks, and sometimes there is a black block in the middle of some rows, as you can see in the second ekans sprite. And of course, I would still have to make my own sprite because even if I get the default ones, I would still need to add the attack sprites. It's kind of complicated to explain, but basically I'm going to leave them the way they are.

And the title screen logo (where it says Pokemon Rocket) is going to change.

Sorry for not responding, I've taken a break but now I'm back working again, especially since I have some competition in the first generation hacks.

The mapping programs I used was RedMap and Pokemap, and as for changing the map layout, Coolboyman said how to somewhere in his Pokemon Prism thread.

Sorry guys, but I will never finish it. If anyone wants to complete it, go ahead, I'd be honored since i spent to much time getting this far.

Things that are not changed:

I wanted to change all of the pokemon mini sprites that you see while viewing your party into pokeballs. Once you play you will understand why.
The rival's pokemon are not completed.
I wanted to change the game corner prize's, and I'm not sure if i did (when i switched them to other pokemon they got strange levels, so it migh thappen)
The text is halfway done.
The maps are about 90% complete.

After taking nine months off, I want you all to know I will continue this project and try to finish it as soon as I can. As its the end of the school year I am getting less work and have time to complete it. Of course, I forgot how to do most of this work, but it shouldn't take too long. I only have to finish a few maps and then finish the text. One fix two mistakes (which you probably all know since I wrote that in the first post). I wont be starting immediately, but I will be determine to finish it. If I don't, then what was the point in starting it?

So, is this game going to be one where they just say that it's a breeder/rocket/scientist/trainer experience, and just change the starters and some of the text, or one where you actually do evil Team Rocket stuff, like steal Pokémon?

If you do decide to steal Pokémon, then you could use the Steal Other Trainer's Pokémon code for the gameshark. Or you can make it when you beat some trainers, the run off and leave an item behind, which contains a Pokémon.

Thanks for the support. Right now I've only encountered 2 glitches, but they're acceptable. I am getting there on the text and I only have a few maps to change. After that I SHOULD be done but I may be forgetting some text like on signs and what not.

And there is a surprise down the road that I dont remember if I completed or not, and if I didn't I probably forgot how to do it, so that might take some time.

Anyway thats the update for now. About those to glitches, one I knew about but it doesn't affect gameplay at all. it is visible but I'm sure you wont notice it. I know why both of them happen, and I know how to fix one (I won't because I dont remember where it was and the fix might cause something else to break, so I'll leave it the way it is.) The other one I'm still trying to fix. It doesn't hinder gameplay, its just a text error that occurs when you battle someone, but its noticable and I want to fix it.

And I'm not sure how to change the rom to make it so you can catch other trainers pokemon. I know there is a gameshark code, but if you use that the trainer battle ends once you capture the pokemon, so it would be pretty lame. I'm not Coolboyman, I have no idea how to add things, just change whats already there. haha

Yep, every wild pokemon and trainer pokemon is changed, along with the maps. (some building stayed the same for various reasons) I did not reconnect the maps. the first route contains rattata doduo and pinsir.

Oh did I forget to mention that it won't be as easy to win as it was in Red? The trainers and gym leaders will have strong pokemon, but the more you lose and replay the battles the higher levels your pokemon will get, so eventually it will all even. I will start again to see if they really are too strong, but I do know its beatable.

Also, for catching other trainers pokemon, it would be stupid to beat the elite four and gym leaders because you catch their pokemon. of course they will be high levels so it would be hard to catch them. of course it does all boil back down it would ruin gameplay and i dont know how to do it. Every pokemon is obtainable anyway.

Another update, I fixed that one glitch, and I believe the only think I have left to do it finish the text and change some wild pokemon. I may finish...today? We'll see. If I do finish today it will be a final, but if any glitches or mistakes are found (I'm sure theres some, i probably forgot about something or just missed them, sometimes peoples text change after certain events) please tell me and I will fix them right away. Well, I am finished except ONE thing that I searched for the past couple hours to see if I can fix it. It is not game altering, its just distracting.

The glitch occured after I rearranged the pokedex. The pictures that you see next to the pokemon to see what type they are (like a bird for flying, a bug for bug) are fixed to the pokedex number, not the pokemon. So, half of the pokemon have the wrong picture next to their name. I cannot find where it is to fix it. That is the only thing wrong with it, and since I can't find it, I will be releasing it now.

Also there are two other glitches, but most probably won't even notice because they are not seen as often as the aforementioned glitch.

Anyway, here is the final version (pending glitch/text fixes).

I have to admit, it's awesome! For the first time in pokemon history, you actually have a variety of different pokemon to choose from, in most games you can't get a fire type (Other than a Growlithe/Vulpix) until late game for some reason. It's very well done, man, great job =D

I found a few small bugs

First of all, fossils don't get made. I went all the way out of the lab, and my Dome Fossil wasn't yet revived. Unless you changed the timer or something o.O

Next, Leech Seed simply freezes the game. Doesn't matter if you use it or an enemy uses it, it simply freezes. Bulbasaurs scare me now =(

Xela, he addressed it in his release notes, Meowth is 001 in his version of the pokedex, so they gave it the 001 (Bulbasaur) icon, which was the bug thing.

No pokemon evolve by trading, all are by leveling up. except eevee still uses stones. Chrona answered the in-party sprite issue, the other starters can be found in the wild. (each in only 1 location) And by the other starters I mean bulbasaur and squirtle. Meowth, koffing, and ekans are not found in the wild.


and the "new" pokemon were supposed to be a surprise but unfortunately they are not obtainable. I just liked gliches and thought it would be a cool little surprise.

I am still disappointed about those two glitches, Chrona. Thanks again for telling me. I did look into it for a second and I know that is has nothing to do with that attacks traits, so i really dont know how to fix. I might just have to remove the attack from the game or replace it with a similar attack. If the fossil issue cannot be fixed (maybe you have to wait longer? I'm not sure) I could always put those pokemon into the wild. So even if I cant find a fix there aer some ways. They aren't perfect BUT it would be better than now.
That and the stupid pokedex reordering in-party sprite glitch really bug me.

Also, are they pokemon too high leveled for anyone? I suggest NOT running from wild battles, as you will need high levels. (you won't like the ELITE FOUR). Don't get mad when you lose battles often. and i suggest buying alot of revives and potions before the elite four, as you will PROBABLY lose money.

i did not realize blastoise has a glitches sprite, but thats an easy fix. and for completing the dex, i think I MIGHT have put those pokemon to some other trainers, but im not sure. for catching em all, i dont think its possible without trading.

I started on it last summer but stopped over the winter and just started again lst thursday. i've never hacked the new games but since there are more tools out, i would have to say that red is harder. but ive never tried so i wouldnt know

I thought about doing that, and the thing was that I couldn't get a back sprite (maybe jynx, but that would be weird). also i would have to change the intro and lot of he's to shes. I mean, i might do it, but i dont think it would be worth the effort. sorry if you wanted that. :nervous:

Thanks. I never realized that the pokemon were different colors because I always played in the black and white version. I'm guessing the colors are in pokedex order, since meowth overwrote bulbasaur and koffing over wrote charmeleon?

Koffing does have types, but they don't show up because when I changed pokemon sprites from different versions (or it might have been ash's back sprite to prof oaks) I overwrote the data that showed the pokemon types. It occurs for every pokemon when you view their stats, but the still do have types.

What do you mean you are trapped in the bike shop, though? Do you mean the door mat is not infront of the door? I just checked and I dont know how I missed it, but thats an easy change, but the actual location for the door are the two spots to the left of the mat. If you are talking about something else, please tell me.

As for the items, I'm not sure if its necessary. I mean, the Silph Scope and Bike are the biggest items, and i think they are given at reasonable locations throughout the story.

And, ablahblah, I will fix the backsprite as soon as i can. I am not going to work on it today and I will be away all weekend, but monday, I assure you, I will fix some of the issues. Thanks for all of the help everyone. I will update the first post with the bugs.

Also, Chrona, fossils do revive. Im really not sure how long it takes, but I just loaded up my rom and I checked, and I recieved Kabuto. Unless I gave him the fossil before I made the error, it should work. its still left in the bugs, but I hope you were mistaken. Can you check once in a while and report to me if the fossil ever does get made? Thanks.

when you first battle jessie on the nugget bridge thing, well anyway. i was battling her, and i got to her zubat (only meowth was left) and when zubat fainted, the game went black for a second and i went to in front of the mart ( in the same town) and the ending text for jessie showed up at the bottom of the screen (you know, when she says oh darn, ill be better next time) then, after she was done talking, the battle started again, ALL OVER AGAIN!!!!!!!!

oh, btw i thought that the hack was too hard, with the level 18 pokemon at the first gym and all, so i used pokemap and put a wild mew in the fire cave place.........for me

When you fly to a city/black out you will now be placed infront of the pokecenter, instead of the random places that you originally appeared.

in this i updated the title screen, changed some ingame trades, and finally fixed the inparty sprites. and by fixed, i mean removed. and by removed i mean i hope what i changed doesnt affect anything else in the game.

Found a minor glitch

The top right panel of those square block things can be walked on

If you don't know what I mean - Go to the fire cave thingy from the first town, go to where the first "staircase" (Not change of floor, just a walkable tile) is, and keep heading left instead of up. Same thing happens on the block ABOVE the stairs

Time for another bug report

Euclose - The man who doesn't let you go by without a gym pass talks to you as though you have it if you talk to him from the side

Euclose Gym - Blaze uses Super Potions as though they were X-stat items. The FIRST thing he did in the battle was use Super Potion on his
Nidoqueen, before I even got a chance to attack

Water route past Euclose - Where there are four trainers facing opposite directions (in a +), I was able to surf THROUGH the girl on the right, both before I fought her and RIGHT after. Was unable to recreate this afterwards when the route refreshed after I poke-centered

Mica - Nothing really important, but the Gym apprentice is a Rocker, but is named Hiker

Misc - Kabuto and Kabutops still have the shell icon when in the party. Haven't obtained other pokemon that use the sprite so I can't see if they use it.

Also, any reason why Gold Watch is in the Game Corner? The guy only needs one for Strength. Was Koga being gym leader your idea, or did you forget to switch his name?

Edit - Found one more minor thing - The monster pillar thing that tells the gym leader in Koga's gym states that it's the Mica City Gym, not Gelina

Edit again - The last gym (The Force gym) has a few bugs. The first Blackbelt has a text error when he challenges you to a battle, and a Tamer and Blackbelt walk through a wall to challenge you from two rows above

Edit again, again - Forgot to mention, High Crit moves (Slash, Crabhammer, possible something else) seem to critical 100% of the time

Edit again x 3 - Another random thing I just noticed - If you look at the Status page of your pokemon, it doesn't show their types for some reason. Damnit, someone post here so I can stop editing xD

some of those i have no idea how to fix, but the text ones and trainers walking trough walls i can definately fix. unfortunately im at college and the computer i use to hack the game is at home, so i wont be able to fix these until thanksgiving. thankfully they aren't MAJOR bugs that make the game unplayable.

and the gold watch is in the game corner if the person does not feel like going through the poke safari.

Wow! I jus found a glitch. in the beginning of the game go outside your house and go to the route south. If you go in the grass you'll run into a pokemon and your pokemon is MissingNo. Weird. and if you run the gam e will freeze and you'll have to reeset

Well, I've reached the Elite Four, but I never found HM02 - Fly. Does anyone know where it is or if it's in the game?

This was one of the best hacks I've ever played, if not the best in terms of map redesign, and I'd really love to be able to fly around and admire the scenery of the various cities and routes without having to walk halfway around the world.

I thought it was possible that the Fly HM was removed from the game, since the Flash HM was missing and that seemed intentional since there was no need for it, but earlier in this thread I think Pokeglitch said that one of the glitches he fixed was that you now appeared in front of a Pokemon Center when using fly or respawning after a defeat. So I assume Fly is in the game.

If anyone knows where you can find HM02, I'd greatly appreciate it, please Private Message it to me if you want to avoid spoilers. Also, if anyone here is stuck in the game, I can probably help via PM, since like I said, I reached the Elite Four.

Fly - You need to cut down a tree in a city and access a house behind it. I believe it's in the Vermillion remake, though I may be wrong

Pokeflute - I believe it's similar to the original R/B/Y, but I can't be sure - Do the police base quest in the Celadon remake (In the casino), get the Ghost Scope, and do the pokemon graveyard in the Lavender remake

great game, i've nearly completed it and it was really good. really though to finish ^^ i dunno where i could be whithout save states :P but i'm sad it seems u can't finish the pokedex.

Now for glitches:
-magikarp backsprite, it's snorlax's one XD
-some not-walkable tiles in the fences, seems u intenctionally let the their edges solid
-i said "it SEEMS u can't finish the pokedex", why? coz some entries seems not registered, like hypno or sandslash that are not registered in the cave (near the fucsia-remake, i think). maybe it's only for cave-pokemon (the ones wild in grass no), but i'm not sure.
-is there only a rod? can't find the others and i want horsea ç_ç

About the final one with the pokedex, that is really weird, and I do not know why that happens. what if you catch them?

and yes there is only one rod, but i believe you can catch a horsea or at least a seadra.

glitches ive noticed are mainly just ledges that you cant jump, some pokemon still have sprites when you view your 6 pokemon...i cant think what else.

you definitely made this one for those of us who grind and grind our pokemon before moving on, its got some very tough areas. took me forever to find the erika remake i went to every city like 8 times and could not figure out where the 4th gym was.
