Hello, I'm Flameguru. I am also the creator of Pokemon: Metallic Silver. Pokemon Metallic Silver has had a rough life over the years and more than 1 team. We kept giving up because we didn't have enough knowledge of the RGSS Language found and used in RPG Maker XP. Since then, things have changed. Only about 2 weeks ago, me and my good friend Chris (Known as Akio123 on PC) decided to completely redo Metallic Silver, including it's storyline. Why? Well before, we hadn't used any switches so nothing worked right and there were tons of bugs to be found. We had no PokeDex and PokeGear. We decided to change the story because since Metallic Silver died, a whole bunch of G/S/C remakes were created and we wanted to feel more original. So, that's pretty much why we decided to redo Metallic Silver. Now then, on with the goodies.

NOTE: Before you read the first 2 Sentence and say "OMG, another G/S/C Remake! bleh..." read more ;)

In the little town of New Bark Town, a boy named Silver is about to embark on a journey. He goes downstairs and receives his PokeGear that was fixed from his mom and is told that Prof. Elm had an errand for him. When Silver reaches the lab, Prof. Elm tells Silver of his errand - which is for him to travel to the Orange Islands via the S.S. Aqua ported in Olivine City to see Prof. Ivy. Prof. Elm tells Silver to leave to Olivine City with his lab assistant. The two leave New Bark Town.

While Silver and the Lab Assistant travel to Olivine City, an evil organization known as Darkstar Inc. is up to no good! Darkstar Inc. is and evil organization that steals Pokemon and sells them in the Black Market for money and will eventually if not stop sacrifice them to resurrect the Pokemon Catabolg, the Devil Pokemon. One of Darkstar Inc.'s higher members has captured Lugia, and is seen returning to Darkstar Inc.'s base in the Orange Islands.

What will happen next? Play the demo and find out...

UPDATE:

Alright, We have made a lot of changes to Metallic Silver in the last week or so.

One of the biggest changes is that instead of you and the lab assistant just walking off to Olivine like in the last Beta, you now actually get to play up to that point. This was my decision and I think it will add a whole lot to the Game. Don't worry, you will get to goto the Orange Islands too, but not until you get up to Olivine.

The Story while in Johto will be different and some of the maps will look somewhat different also. You will still meet Kamon, but I don't want to say why because it may hurt the story. Instead of Team Rocket in Johto, we have Darkstar Inc. Grunts and an appearance of 2 other "Leaders" of the team.

As for progress, everything up to Ilex Forest has been Mapped, Evented, and Configured. It's basically 1+ Hours longer now. I'd say it has give or take a good hour to an hour and a half of game play, depending on the encounter rates you have in the Grass and how well you can figure out the storyline and find out what to do.

So yeah, I'll be adding some Screenshots of the new Beta that will come within the month sometime down the road. Until then, Peace.

the strongest Pokemon Trainer of the World, and much stronger
than Darkstar Inc.'s leader, Senshi.

To get the door to open by touch open the event and under the trigger section choose collision. I hope this helps and good luck!

PokeFanatic12698, can you modify a tree sprite into a tropical tree such as a Palm Tree, but Overgrown and Pokemon-ish? Heres a base sprite (Regular FR Tree):

This isn't a GSC Remake, although once you beat the Orange League in the Orange Islands you can go back to Johto and explore it. So I guess it's kinda a remake if you want to consider it one.

Anyway, what all can you do as far as spriting? PM me some examples or what you can do ;)

Sure, just PM me with it. We will basically be making huge islands so keep in mind it needs to have a tropical flare to it.

Lol i just uploaded it and its not very good lol. the only thing im good at is scripting in fire red and text editing in fire red aswell lol.

lol thanks. i made it in ruby though so it can look as fire red's. man was it alot of work. i can edit mostly patches of grass and flowers. thing smalls. if you want give me a trainer sprite for overworld and ill edit it.

I just added Character Biographies to the first post. I'm going to work on the Game some more and try to make the PokeDex fully functional :)

EDIT: I thought I would post some screenshots of our Islands. The first is Valencia Island which is home to Prof. Ivy's Lab and a small Town, the second is Tangelo Island which is home to PokePark and a Small Town. Tangelo is extremely concept right now and I can guarantee that a much bigger "route" will be added to the Island ;) Here they are:

Oh, and does anyone know how I could make it when you step on the grass tile it will call a(n) Common Event(s)? This way it won't lag for people with slower computers.

You didn't put the Pokemon RS font in the C:/WINDOWS/Fonts Folder. As for news...hmm, none that I really want to make public yet. Maybe later tonight ;)

As for the game, I finished eventing Valencia Island so Prof. Ivy doesn't just say "Hello." anymore :P

After you talk to her you get the Orange Pass and the GS Ball. She gives your Orange Pass authorization to travel to and from Tangelo Island. Tangelo Island is a port City so it will allow you to travel to many other Islands later on..erm, when I event it.

Now I have to goto Wal-Mart and get a TI 84 + SE for school, so I'll update later tonight ;)

No, I mean there is no Font folder there. I have the Pokemon R/S (TrueType) but there is no font folder. Its not there.

Okay, I'm about to leave. Open up Internet Explorer and in the URL Bar type this:

C:\WINDOWS\Fonts

...and press Enter. Drag the Pokemon RS Font there and your good. If you still can't figure this out I'm sorry but don't post in the thread about the problem anymore.

i noticed all the charsets you are using ,besides the hero, are using a light gray instead of a black as the outline, i recommend going to this link

and downloading the "Complete FR/LG Set" by Fangking Omega and using those instead. They are the same just with the fixed outlines so they will look better and more official giveing your game a more professional look. but other than that things are looks really good. good luck.

I am using his, it's just that some of his Charsets in that pack are like that and I don't have time to edit them right now. I must say, you are so helpful to us!

lll consider it, but school is starting soon, and i have a very very loaded schedual, and i have to take the SATs this year so i wont have much free time, but if i dont join i will continue to do odd jobs here and there for you if you would like.

I just redownloaded the charsets and i looked through them and they dont have the same problem yours do, so i personally would redownload them and switch them out and see if the problem gets fixed because that is the only thing that i can see that doesnt look official. anyway good luck.

I just made another twist to the story on Valencia Island which should add about 15+ Minutes of game play. I won't let all the info go but it's kinda like the Tin Tower..but in a Lighthouse.

This game is probably going to be a tad harder than regular Pokemon Games but I've been putting in some funny things here and there so if you want to get the best game play you have to explore!

Sorry, but I just downloaded it, extracted it, and played it. Everything went fine. I use Winrar to make my .zip files so maybe it does something stupid. Try again?

We are currently only in need of a Scripter, but if we ever need some spriting done, I'll PM you.

No Problem. Anyway, All day I have been trying to implement a new CBS but it's not working.

If anybody is reading this and can help me, PM me ASAP! With or without the new CBS, there will be a demo released by this Friday. Expect some new screenshots and updates tomorrow ;)

It was impossible to press PrtSc when the Lightning flash took place, but it looks so much better in game. You'll all see it when I release the demo.

i tried again and it worked, sometimes it works and sometimes its do not works

EDIT: i saw a problem, when you talk to the sailor in another side than the "correct one" your guy tryes to go down but it isnt possible, try to solve it.

Just updated the Starter Kit, find out for yourself ;)

NOTE: The new CBS Interferes with the Bag and PokeDex so those will not work. Sorry for the Inconvenience. It will be fixed so don't worry. This is why the new CBS will not be in the next few Demos ;)

As for the sailor glitch I knew some player would try to do that and I have fixed it. It will be fixed in the next release :)


Anyway, expect a new Demo either Tomorrow or Saturday.

Crap X.X I knew I forgot to do something. Anyway, I added him to the credits.

I really wish I had one scripter who would help me. It's sad really. If any scripter out there sees this, please consider helping us because we only need minor script edits.

Oh well, no people helping = peoples problem. We can only give them the game that they help us make.

We're sorry about that, but the demo is on hold. But don't worry, it's for a very good reason :D

The next demo will contain much better scripts and systems. Better Battle System (Even better than that preview!) PokeDex, PokeGear, Bag, Menus, and more!

Anyways, sorry for the lack of updates but I was busy with school stuff and I actually had a social life for the last 5 days. Expect updates from me at least every 2 or 3 days.

Like I said, I and the team are very sorry for the lack of the demo but it's worth it in the end, you'll see ;)

Yes, that is correct. I credited Illusion in the Credits (The maker of the CBS) We will eventually however be making a custom System. That is what is holding up the next demo.

Give us a few days and we will release a newer and better demo.

If you could modify a Tileset I have with Tropical stuff, that would be so cool.

I'll have to delete that map i suppose.

I have attached the Tileset that I want modified. Basically, I want everything to look more tropical, and is there anyway you could put Kyledove's Tile in this Tileset as well? I think they would go good with the Orange Islands.

Like...all of his Tiles (Pokemon Buildings, Grass, Trees, etc). I have no idea what pallet changing is since I don't do Rom hacking or much Photoshopping, but if it makes everything look better, then yes, please do :)

I've played the demo, and I liked it, here are some bugs I have found:

1. The lab assistant in Olivine (when you get there) says Thankyou (instead of Thank you)
2. He gives you 5 pokeballs, one by one.
3. No sure if this is a bug or not, but over the boulder (in front of the lighthouse in Olivine) it says Don Pat (I'm guessing, it's because you used the new tileset).
4. The Trainer card has a girls picture (I choosed the male caracter)
5. When you try to enter the dock (in Olivine, and you have talked to him first) the salesman doesn't turn to you.
6. When you talk to the salesman in the Valencia mart you get this error:
Undefinded local variable or method 'vall_shop'

And a suggestion or two:

1. Use proper door animations.
2. Give the maps bigger borders, that way you will get a better feel of "never ending" maps.

Hope I helped.

Edit: Also try to include rgss102e.dll, so everybody could play it.

It's not a bug...since theres no code that makes it determine what image to use.

Here is the wqater autotile. If you don't like it, I can do another one if you want.

Flameguru the problem is he didn't install the fonts in his fonts folder. I had the same problem yesterday. Just unzip the fonts and put them in your fonts folder and your problem will be alieviated.

I played the demo, really great, but here are a few things
that needs to get fixed or something.
1. When you catch a pokemon and you don't even have the pokedex
you still get a pokedex description shown.
2. On Valencia Island, their ore some stairs next to like a beach or something,
well anyway to far left tileset of the stairs if you move left again you can walk
on the rock wall tileset.
3. On Valencia Island you have to cut a tree down to get to the item on the other side,
when you press enter I got a script error and my game froze up, so I have to play it again.
Well that is about it. I am going to play it again and see if I can find anything else.
I may update this post so keep looking.^^ Good luck Flameguru.

UPDATE: A new demo should be released sometime tomorrow. It will have all kinds of New Goodies, even a new Island ;) If you were lucky enough to find my secret teleporter to that island in the last demo then you should already know what Island is next hehe

Oh, and the LightHouse Key Glitch will be fixed too, just make sure tot save before taking it and then use that save in the next demo to start right in front of the key. Well, I better get going.

Alright everybody, I need some opinions. I recently released a tileset for RMXP full of Kyledove's Tiles. Now here's the question:

Would you like Metallic Silver to use the default FR/LG (Currently being used) Tiles or Kyledove's Tiles?


Also, I have just updated MS to Poccil's newest release of the Starter Kit and expect a new demo in 2-3 Weeks. I promise Gameplay will be over 1 or more hours ;)

I think we should stick to the original tilesets we were using. Most of the game takes place in the Orange Islands, they aren't really that tropical is the thing.

Just a few bugs:
if you white out and scurry home between the grass and Valencia and leave the house, your mom gives your PokeGear again.
When you are given the Pokeballs from the aid, the item is given in separate messages rather than just one.
Professor's aid gives Pokeballs again, so I've now 10 rather than 5.

The Battle Glitch is now also fixed. I just added all of the Healing Spots to the metadata.txt so everything should work, I'm just trying to figure out if there is a way that you can still screw something up.

UPDATE:

Alright, We have made a lot of changes to Metallic Silver in the last week or so.

One of the biggest changes is that instead of you and the lab assistant just walking off to Olivine like in the last Beta, you now actually get to play up to that point. This was my decision and I think it will add a whole lot to the Game. Don't worry, you will get to goto the Orange Islands too, but not until you get up to Olivine.

The Story while in Johto will be different and some of the maps will look somewhat different also. You will still meet Kamon, but I don't want to say why because it may hurt the story. Instead of Team Rocket in Johto, we have Darkstar Inc. Grunts and an appearance of 2 other "Leaders" of the team.

As for progress, everything up to Ilex Forest has been Mapped, Evented, and Configured. It's basically 1+ Hours longer now. I'd say it has give or take a good hour to an hour and a half of game play, depending on the encounter rates you have in the Grass and how well you can figure out the storyline and find out what to do.

So yeah, I'll be adding some Screenshots of the new Beta that will come within the month sometime down the road. Until then, Peace.

I've been busy working on the game for the last few days so that's why I haven't been posting any updates.

What Akio said about a release on Friday is true and will be in 2 or 3 gyms in length. If not 3 then you will at least get to Goldenrod City and be able to go shopping and stuff. If I have a lot of time a release may be sooner but I need to personally test each beta and that takes like 4 hours because I try to raise hell in the game.

The beta to Metallic Silver is magnificient.The way the cutscenes play and the vocab of the characters are just incredible.It reminds me of playing a rom on an emulator;That's how similar the game is to regular GBA games.Just a few typos though you may want to watch out for your speling<--Haha.

I'll be working on MS after school today and tomorrow and if all goes well you can expect to get to Goldenrod City and explore it and buy crap. You won't need RPG Maker XP because the next release will not require the RTP so you can play it on any Windows PC ;)

I know what you mean, I've used that tileset before and it sucks.
I spent five hours on mine.

Well, it doesn't have that metropolis feel (more like a port town) to it since the background is grass.
I used autotile concrete to replace the grass.

It has grass because when I had it as all concrete, it looked too plain and open. I think the grass adds to the map itself.

I will add some more concrete, but I think some grass needs to be there to make the map look nice.

It was in the tileset that FlameGuru used.
I'm assuming since he's tired from mapping that mess of a tileset, he would not bother to change it (Editing PNG file).

In my game, I scrapped it and used the RSEFRLG Complete instead. I was so frustrated by mapping it that day that I almost didn't bother to redo it.
But when I did, it looked better and the buildings don't all look similar to another. And I could add the mountains on the side too.

Also, use the rail in the centre of the Gym roof (On the tileset).
Because I thought the two bars you used for the rails looked too thick. It's more suitable for a wharf facing the ocean or something.

Yes, that Tileset is ridiculous. But, the map is done and so nothing to worry about anymore.

I will edit the tileset eventually, but for now it isn't a top priority.

Currently, the tileset looks completely fine. I don't see any reason to change it in my point of view, but I guess it's hard to map with.

Woah thats a nice map! I feel stink whenever I make a town from that region because mine doesnt look as good as yours... nice job! And kudo for your work on orange islands, especially without alot to go on...

Just wanted to say that we actually have a spriter, but still looking for mappers. We still do need mappers for Mettalic Silver. Also, we have a Battle Tower Script...more updates to come...

not really a bug or glitch just a bit weird.

On the connection between Route 29 and New Bark Town, before you go to Olivine, if you hold Up and the connection it blurs for a second and moves. Probably just a random thing not to do with anything butjust mentioning it.

Another thing, when the Prof's assistant gives you the Pokeballs, it says - 'NAME found one Pokeball.' 'Put it in the ball Pocket' - 5 times.

Also so far what I've played of the Demo id good.

This is looking really good! One of the best, if not THE best, Johto remakes out there! Plus you have the Orange Islands. I don't really like them, but the way you're doing it might just change my mind. Can't wait till it's finished!
Scienceboy: I believe you won't need RMXP to play it, luckily.

It's going to be like Firered/Leafgreen. You will be forced to go to the Orange Islands. After that, you can come back to Johto and finish Johto and then basically screw around.
