I want to find out as much as I can about Pokemon Hacking. So does anyone know who made the first hack? Who started the craze. Any and all information will be helpful.

The first Pokemon ROM hack I know of was blue hack called 'Pokemon Trep Edition', but nothing much got changed in it. I think that was back in 1998.

I got into it after finding Phil Reuben (he's the only one on facebook) and Vida's translations of gold and silver. I do believe PokéEdit "Jass Fuller" hacked the japanese versions of red/blue long before they were released in america so he always knew that little bit more than everyone else.

yeah the first hack was trep edition i typed in google first ever pokemon hack bam trep edition and some pokemon brown

The Pokémon Brown game is one of the best Pokémon ROM-hacks ever. It wasn't first, but it was most perfect GB ROM-hack and still is. You can even find its author here on Pokécommunity - Coolboyman.

Do you mean you want to remake pokemon brown? Because Rijon Adventures is Pokemon Brown 20 years later, soo I don't think that you could remake that.

No I want to remake the first ever hack.
EDIT: I played Trep but it is barely changed.

That's a cool idea! Yeah.., but sadly, i don't know what's the first ever hack. The first hack I knew was the PKMN Jade and Diamond...

If you look up data crystal on google, it will come up with a wiki type of website about room hacking. If you look up Pokemon Brown, it will say that it was- though an ameteur hack, was the first and inspirational hack done. This led to many others to hack.
So in conclusion, however said Brown before, is right. Okay?

Oh, OK. Then I won't remake it.
EDIT: Did my research, if Trep was made in 1998 then it outdates Brown.
