Nothing is said about 9th edition yet. I'm doubting anything from the early days of magic will be there this time, tho.

i thought it was 2 blocks, then an edition set...

Yup, every two blocks, they release a base set. Each block takes a year, so it means that every two years they're making a new base set.
If you remember, 8th edition came out between Scourge and Mirrodin. This one will come out between the last Kamigawa set and "Control".

"control" what's "control"?
Kenny_C.002
June 14th, 2004, 01:50 AM
It's the codename for the 2005 set. The first set is "ctrl", second set is "alt", third is "del(ete)". The 2006 sets are "Snap", "crackle" and "Pop".

I actually have no idea whether it WILL be "Snap", "Crackle" and "Pop" tho. I don't think the magic designers are thinking this far ahead to have the codenames yet, but this MIGHT very well be...and call me when it is. lol
Anyway, I don't know whther "ctrl", "alt" and "del" are going to be good sets or not tho, but chances are that it's either a Legend block or a 5-colour block (like gold stuff. I mean there are NO cards with the new gold border yet...well except for the tourney decks).

ok i dont' know what the **** your talking about

lol
Okay, all sets have some sort of a codename to them. For example, Champions of Kamigawa had a codename "Earth". This codename is used to tell the difference between different unmade sets (so R&D won't get mixed up). Basically it's just like the cards with their codenames (e.g. Forgotten Ancient was "Mr. Babycakes"...or was it "Babyface"?).
Anyway, statisically, most sets have a theme...and that themetends to be something that previous sets lack. For example, Invasion, Oddyssey AND Onsalught had little to no artifacts. Then we have Mirrodin.
If you haven't noticed, we've been lacking gold cards and legend cards lately...
So "Control" is likely a 5-colour/2-colour/enemy-colour/Legend set.
