Hey, what's the deal of naming the badge? As far as I know, the only moments the badges' names are mentioned are when the Gym Leader gives it to you, and then on some scripts like this guy who tells you about the badges' effects and at the final route where those police-guys check your badges. So, I don't see what's the big deal about renaming them with any hex editor (all we see on the trainer card are just pictures, so... I don't really know where are you going on this topic. Can you guys explain it to me?)
Keep your work, Baro, don't pay that much attention to certain people. As I said a while back on other thread, it'll be impossible that you please the whole world. Just keep doing stuff the way you like it, that's more important "this is just a hobby, not a job"

You're right, Zel. The only reason, well, for me that I put up a thread is so I can get support, not trying to please the entire world. The only thing I try to do is please most of the world, right? The rest can just... well, not visit my thread. But seeing as this thread has 11 pages, I think most of the world is pleased. :D

Ah, the storyline... Hmmm... Well, considering that Nintendo always do the same (repeating the same storyline about a kid who becomes a trainer, gets badges and defeats the evil team, while finding legendary Pokemon on the road), I don't see what would be the need of changing it on this particular hack, the way Baro will implement his own deviations on the "classic Nintendo plot" is what we are eager to see.
But, anyway, Baro will tell you what he's expecting of his game. I just told you what I was expecting :)

What can I say? This hack is pretty good through how the gyms are very unique and how you have a train and a Skateboard. The only thing I don't like is how it is basicly the same as firered, Attempt to leave town, professor gets you, 1st main town gives package for professor, forest after 1st main town, cave after 2nd town, etc. It is still a pretty awesome game

And yeah, the Beta was pretty amazing, though I am quite disturbed by some floating back pics of some PKMNs (e.g. the PKMN that was originally was a Pidgey)... But oh well... It still is an awesome hack.

The storyline is not a forced storyline, so you won't be merged into the plot right on the beggining (i.e.: the beta1). There are hints of a complicated story, of people who lie about their past and even their present, people who pursue poisoned dreams, etc.
I don't care if someone posts negative comments, but that's just not true.
Yeah, some errors in the game that seem weird, like what happens with Seismic Toss (the enemy sprite doesn't move) and some backsprites, but I bet you that Teh Baro will get them fixed and better, even. I haven't messed with seismic toss so that must be something that already happens in the original... and yeah I was a bit lazy at backsprates, or you mean you found backsprites in beta 1.1 that are too high? If so please report them. beta is for betatesting.
the second beta will take a lot of time since I can only work during the weekends.

Well...I've been watching this thread for a long time now, and even played the beta, and all I can say is...wow. You've really outdone yourself, with a complex storyline and all that. I'll be sure to keep watching this hack.

Thanks for the support.
Right now, I'm doing a small town with a pet shop (where you'll be able to buy another starter different from the one you already had). After that, maybe I put a dungeon and then close the beta.
If I do that, the progress you can do if you played beta 1.1 to the end would be:
EGG TRAIN - WISTWOODS & WIST CASTLE - CYAN TOWN & GYM 3 - BACK TO TANGERINE - SECRET TUNNEL - BACK TO COBALTSTATION & GYM 4 - BLUE LANDS & BOMBERMEN HIDEOUT (not a dungeon, it's more like a house with trainers) - SKY LANDS & FOREST PASSAGE (a small route with a small path that will be equivalent to the underground path, with a pair of things inside) - WISTERIA VILLAGE - [DUNGEON (maybe].
That's a lot of words, but a few new places. I think it's not too much because you can clear it in little time. I know you long for beta 2, but HONESTLY, may it be too little progress?

I don't know... Hmmm... two gyms per Beta doesn't sound THAT bad. But since you are the one who said that you were not satisfied with the gameplay length, then I guess we must trust you and don't force you to make something you are not satisfied with. So, keep working, and maybe reach the 5th or 6th Gym before making another release.
Don't worry, as I use to say: as long as some information is given from time to time, you'll be safe from lots of people asking for a Beta, I guess...

In fact, I've been thinking of inserting a spiderman wannabee in the game that says something like "How do I shot web? I have this HM but I can't manage to put it to work... maybe you'll make good use of it", and to put spider web tiles in rainbowpolis to climb to rooftops

I think Spider Web should be all pokemon that can learn String Shot because it shouldn't be all bug types unless every bug can learn string shot. If he left a pokemon that couldn't, then it would be weird. Do you know what I'm saying?
Darn, I had a good example, but because he's editing all of the pokemon, I can't use it.
Also, I almost fell out of my chair at the Spiderman Wannabee breaking his leg. It's like he jumps off of the building and then when it seems like you can move again, a text box comes up and says "Ow! My leg!" Now that would be hilarious. Good idea Teh Baro and VC.

Forest Passage. There's not much on it, just trees, covolts in the trees and a man. The man will ask you to beat all the covolts. 2 of them are actually copykattes (remember from quartz, those transforming cats). The actual covolts are low levered... but the secret is that they hold items. Thunderstones, a PP MAX... So remember to catch them. The prize for beating them all is a choice band.

Wisteria village. (sorry for the player sprite as NPC, I only made the map and added the events)
Just a small village (in fact, all the village is in that screenshot except the pokemon center). It'll have a trade event (although I haven't messed with them yet, so I don't guarantee it'll be accessible in beta2).
That square building with a parnot (parrot pokemon) in the window is a pet shop.
Apart from an important event involving parnots, you will be able to buy the starter that nobody picked in Baro's lab. But it will be a bit expensive.

I find a bit funny the roofs of the houses, but in the good way, I like them.

Apart from an important event involving parnots, you will be able to buy the starter that nobody picked in Baro's lab. But it will be a bit expensive.
Example: You pick chapebaya, you can buy todad. You pick todad, you can buy coalchu. You pick coalchu, you can buy chapebaya.

Just finished the parnot (parrot pokemon) event.
The PARNOT is nicknamed Kayak. It belonged to Dr. Kayuko.
When you talk to it, it asks you for a cookie. If you give it a mole cookie, it'll say a random phrase.
there's a 1% chance of getting a password for something that is needed later on. (if you have the amulet tag, it's a 100% chance, but only once [actually, once you get the password, a flag is set, so your character "remembers" it])
In the remaining 99% of chances, you can get 9 random sentences, some of them spoilers, some of them just jokes, like the one below.
And this is one of the non-spoiler phrases it may say. I was inspired so let's share, for laughs
You know, the cosmic flow of the funky aeromatter doesn't mind if the cosmos karma thinks that the balance of the life and the death is not too much for the stars to handle and chewbaka starts to shave every morning.
Also, after the event ends, the shop owner tells you that you can't buy the pokemon because it's already sold. The same for other 2 pokemon on the shop. I just wanted to use the bufferpokemon command (7D or somehting along that) to use the pokemon's name on the text string. cool.
Now, for the buy-a-starter script.

Also, though about the next routes and such, and the thing will be like this:
There will be long and wide desert with an Arabic-like town in the middle (replacing celadon - but without gym). Then another desert route and in the middle of the desert, rainbowpolis. As I already said, it'll be an ENORMOUS CITY and it will have all the stuff: the casino, the mart... and even a brothel (but don't worry, it'll be called club, and you'll fight the dancers... but literally, don't get it wrong, uh?), a japanese neighborhood ruled by the jakuza, and well, everything you can expect from a big city barely based in Las Vegas (actually, the only vegas thing it's that it's in the middle of the desert, and all the sex and corruption).

Finished the buy-a-starter script.
Only tried with todad as starter (buying coalchu) but worked, so the others should too because the scripts only set some vars and then the main script works with these vars. It was cool to discover that some commands (bufferpokemon, givepokemon, cry...) can work with variables, so it was easier to make a general script (for example, coalchu's script sets var 0x4002 to 4 and in the main script, cry 0x4002 0 plays coalchu's cry).
So, the prize of the last starter will be $100.000. It's very expensive but the trick is that you shouldn't be able to buy it yet. I'm still testing (gonna hack my way from the beggining to the pet shop to test todad's and chapebaya) with $100 as the prize, so you're in time to complain. EDIT: Ah when things work! So, as I said, $100.000. But well, you're gonna get an amulet coin, so it won't be too difficult to earn the moneyz.

Sure, I know a lot of stuff and am ingenuous enough to manage to do others, but still gotta learn a lot.
Also, I was bored today so made a progress map - better than the old one. Actually I made it for world map and planning purposes (for example, the next route was going to extend to the left, but when I saw the map I decided it would extend to the south.

I'll try to draw it. When garna is done (that'll be beta 3), I'll start making sketches of how will the region be, based on how does the map I posted before look.
And, like 8~9 pokemon left. Not much planned, Since I'm making a desert, I think I'll make a camel/dromedary pokémon, but dunno of which type. The problem now is that I have to count the amount of pokemon of each type so the thing is more balanced. All the pokemon left are ordinary pokémon excep one, mewtwo's slot, which will be obviously a legendary.
EDIT: 300 GET!

Maybe a tiger or a black panther for a legendary? (I know there's a lot of animals Nintendo leave out for making their pokes), there are a lot of ferocious animals unused by them, and that would fit perfect for legendaries.
What about some dino-like-thing? XD
But, in any case, I guess there's still some time to think about the legendaries.

Last week I hadn't worked on it and in two weeks my exams start, so you can expect how it will go, although I'll keep planning things.
Right now I'm completing the pokemon list, next thing is make next town's tileset so I can move on to next route.

That's the last pokemon I made, zappel. Now is where you go WTF A CAMEL WITH A HEART!? and the answer is... actually that's just the shiny pallete. The normal pallete has plain yellow fur.

And now is where you go WTF THE SHINY HAS A HEART ON IT WHY THAT?
-because I want to implement a shiny pokemon event. That's why. In the desert you'll find someone who's chasing a zappel with a heart on its fur, and finally, guess who'll catch it. ^_^
This will let me make a wide desert and make it a bit labyrinth-ish.

And, in my opinion, it looks a bit too small for a camel... Meh, whatever...
I guess the important thing behind zappel (guess the name gives me an idea on the type XD), is the whole shiny hearted event behind it. About that, it's a very original idea (to me, the palettes are quite the same, as everyone else have said), and I want to see the desert (maybe there could be some sandholes which could act as warps between the different areas in the desert? That, to add some confusion, obviously...)

To make it clear, the shiny sprite and the normal sprite MUST be the same. The palette change is on the red. In the normal sprite, there are two color index with yellow and other two with light yellow index. In the shiny sprite, the palette has only one yellow and light yellow, and has red and light red

Above, normal pallete. Below, shiny pallete. The player experiences a "different picture". Actually the different pic is made through this trick. The rest of the colors are the same, sure, but that's not unintended.
Also, yeah, it's electric type. It will evolve, and it's evolution will have two humps... and the shiny, two hearts.

Sure, although now the running animation was replaced with walking animation (but same speed) due to problems while riding the skate.
Also, here's dromstorm, zappel's evo, because it's nice to post new stuff (even if it's not relevant) and because I liked the result. This is a shiny dromstorm.

Also, here's the tileset - in progress - of the next route and city. Still have to make a tower for dungeon, more bazar stuff, etc (and quicksands, but that'll have animation so in the tileset it'll be just marked with an X)

Those tiles look cool as well as dromstorm and zappel. Those tiles look awesome and cant wait to play the next beta. I know it'll be awesome.

Finally decided to sprite the bombermen's overworld.
Mapped the next route and did Tuareg's and shiny zappel's overworld, Though a bit about how the event is gonna be (there will be a new characte: shirley, pokemaniac who loves rare pokemon. She's looking for the shiny zappel because of its rareness. Later on, she'll give you hints to catch other rare non-legendary pokémon, like, pokemon that you'll have to do a lot of stuff to catch it).
I won't do the hard stuff (shiny hack) until exams are over.
For obvious reasons.

Yes, you'll have to beat her. After all, she's after the pokemon too.
About laetitia, she won't appear until you beat the league, when you're going to catch those pokemon too.

Not. I've decided the champion won't be the rival, but it won't be shirley either, and haven't decided who will it be.
Shirley is just a secondary character that appears every time a rare pokemon is near. For example, the shiny zappel. Later on, she'll tell you about a very rare pokemon, chinchin (if someone played cavestory, think about chinfish and how many there are), and in the safari, about sensten (the one from the magic gim video, this time you'll have to do a lot of stuff to even have a chance to catch it, as a sidequest), etc.

It's not much, just that I've edited the bag picture, but it's better to see it in movement. Instead of bag pictures, it's the character pictures, chibi-stype. In the item pocket, you see it taking care of an ornlil. In the key items, you see it in a cool pose, and in the ball pocket, throwing a pokeball.

Was that from the first season? (when son gokuh was a kid) because I barely remember that one. I'm more of when gokuh's an adult.
Well, I have already inserted the shiny hack (and thanks to me, Mastermind X knew there was an error and fixed it :D. Not like I detected the error (i don't know assembly) but well...) and the shiny battle works fiiine.
Just to tell more about the event, when you get to the place (a bit hard to find, the desert has a lot of quicksands and one only quicksand tile leads you to the oasis where the zappel is, the others lead you to the beggining of the desert, and they're not that easy to spot), you find shirley, who just arrived, and asks you if you want to battle, the winner faces the zappel. If you say yes, you battle her and when you win you can fight the zappel. If you say no, she catches the pokemon and you won't see it again.
On other topics, I've finally implemented explosion rocks. Actually it's just rock smash's script without the wild pokemon thing and with the convenient changes. Also, while doing this I realized that I have no way of accessing the rock smash wild pokemon sets, so next time I'm in shower/bed, I've gotta think about it...
Next task is trainers in the desert, whiteclay town, the entrance to the Mirage tower (next dungeon, I used part of the animations for a mirage door, first time you get to it it's a wall, but in the town you'll get something like "eye of truth" or something along those lines, and when you have it the tile will change to a flashing door so you can enter. it'll be the equivalent to the lavender tower because it'll have all the ghost stuff and such. I don't know where to put the scope silph equivalent yet, so unless I decide to put it in whiteclay town, I'll only do the first floor of the mirage tower. But dunno yet. When that and all whiteclay town is done, only one more route and B-B-B-B-B-BETA!! (after editing a lot of stuff like the pokemon sprites left, pokemon data left, pokemon data that I want to improve, pokedex info and -maybe- pokedex data like size and stuff, depending on the mood I am on)

Yes. It was leadered by General Blue, and one of the assasins they hired was Tao Pai Pai.
These guys built the androids that would later appear in DBZ.
To stay on topic, I want to say that this hack is one of the bests that I have seen.
But you already know that.
When I played Quartz, I was disappointed, because the Ruby maps and story had barely changed. I also noted that some sprites were sloppily made and all the spelling and grammar mistakes.
When I saw Marble, I got very excited, but I feared that it would have the same flaws that its predecessor. I was wrong.
In fact, this hack could be the most fun and ground-breaking hack that I have played.
It stands with other great hacks like Naranja, Shinygold and Prism.
By the way, I know that you can handle alone, but if you need some Pokémon ideas, contact me, I have quite a few.

I don't think I'll put arquidea in the hack, but I still haven't planned much for the national pokedex (it sure won't be on the Garna pokedex), I'm still thinking of stuff for legendaries and what will I do with the unowns (I'm thinking of some pokemon with small variations, like spinda).
By the way, only 5 pokemon left in the garna pokedex, and now I'm gonna do some more.

But one of the two I made since then was fast because it's a sponge, and they're the simplest animals in the world. wikipedia says so.

Then 2 of the 3 pokemon left (I don't know what to do with that legendary yet), and data of all those pokémon.
By the way, this week I've wrote all the pokedex info (text, not size comparison and weight/height) and set attacks to every pokemon before exxeggute. I've corrected some of the attack lists that were already in beta 1. Most pokemon will learn their last attack around level 50, in most cases 47 to be more accurate. I did this because attacks are too spaced and for example I have a bultoad (blastoise) level forty-somewhat with bite, water gun and some more lame ass attacks. And for example, he no longer learns bite, HE'S A FRIGGIN TOAD, TOAD HAVE NO TEETH! Also though stuff about their evolutions when editing attacks: pokemon that can evolve with stones may learn powerful attacks at a young age, but then they don't learn many attacks; also, pokemon that have evolved by level learn most attacks AFTER evolution level, although they have some more in case a trainer has them.
So, regarding pokemon data, I still have to do last 50 pokemon attack list (maybe I don't do legendaries until I know in which level they will be catched), fix some evolutions, size comparison and measures data in pokedex, check some values like items hold and more stuff I'm forgetting, like (maybe not in this beta) placement of pokemon in battle (some are too low or high, apart of being covered by your pokemon's status, it causes problems with some attacks, you'll know if you catch a ninjice in this beta and keep using quick learn [=sketch])
I won't do icons in this beta. And a few are buggy, although that won't even represent a problem for the player because they're not pokemon you can catch yet.

Every level, from 1 to 100, unless it already knows it (because you can't learn an attack twice).
Also it'll have 3 PP because experience says it used to fail (ninjice is very fast. Also, this makes a less random result than sketch, since once it attacked you, it's now your turn, so you can decide if you want to copy that attack or not).

Yes all the stuff I'm talking about up to date will be in beta 2 unless specified. This makes everything except everything related to rainbowpolis (except the sign, which will actually be at the very end of the beta).

but for beta 2 I'm planning on looking some animation data and see if there's something that makes sense for me, something on the like of "time of frame - pointer of frame" or stuff like that. After all, rainbowpolis will have a lot of casinos and such, the type of things that need some flashing lights.

Well, I just said I'll check them out, not that I'd get any results for the animations, but it'll be a cool thing if I get it.
And about the old scripts, I leave them because I can, not because I can't replace them, so I personally don't care about it. Remaking hundreds of scripts would be a time loss. Instead, I just script when I need it. That's how lazy I am.
Right now I'm making ponge's evolution, pongstar. It's a cluster of 4 ponges forming a 4 point star. Then I'll make the pokemon in lapra's slot, and that'll be all by now, because mewtwo's slot will probably be done in a far future.

Also, on more exciting live updates, I've just done Ayayaye, an extinct POKéMON, and last (except for the legendary which blah blah blah I think I said it too many times already) of the set, so only one for 151, let's consider all of them for all your gameplay until Agracekan's prison.
Also remade mimikat's front sprite which was a bit too ugly for such a cute pokemon. I'm going to do this for next generation too, for some old quartz pokemon. For example, I'm consideering on redoing Babos and Osoe -horror!- and put them in some jotho slots.

Ayayaye is actually an ape, but I'm aware it looks like a mouse. I didn't want to make a monkey face, and actually that made the difference. It's normal/dark type.
Yeah, the lights thing is just a project, ideas in mind. But well, with lights or not, There will be a lot of things in rainbowpolis. I'm planning on making 7 neighborhoods, one for each rainbow color, and in each one there'll be different things. For example, in the red neighborhood there will be the "club" I mentioned pages ago (don't worry I'll take it fully worksafe and ****) in honor to my trip to Amsterdam and its red light district (don't take me wrong I went there during the day and didn't even open my pocket, ALRIGHT?), the yellow neighborhood will be japantown (chinatown but with jakuzas instead of triads), a neighborhood for the casinos, another one for the shopping center, another one for a skatepark and so on. To stand all this hugeness, I'm planning of making a subway, since every city in the pokemon world is for pedestrians only. Also, having 7 stations helps.
This way, Rainbowpolis will be like 7 towns joined together.
This week I've finished and checked all the attack lists except legendaries. Not too much, but started a game -and finished- in golden sun 2 and that took most of my time.

Lowtax did a massive banning for this, which is completely absurd and scamming being it a board where you have to pay $10 to register, which is already absurd by itself (troll free? Blowtax is the biggest troll on the internets!). Zorak (dunno if that was his name on the board) said that the comments on that where "hints for me to edit my post" YEAH SURE LIKE EVERYBODY EXPECTED THAT AND AVOIDED TELLING ME. Well, I won't complain about it because being that the attitude of SA mods trolls I don't want to be in SA. Also, it's not up for me to complain: it was Zorak's ten bux, not mine. Like if I cared for him after that hypocrite thing he said.
Back to topic (and back to board):
I'm going to put, as part of the plot (because glass army will be around), a policeman in whiteclay town looking for Kid, Curry and Darkoon (just to remind you, in beta 2, after the train, they'll appear with a darkoon which is Meowth's equivalent from Team Rocket to Glass Army. It's a darkoon that talks and all that stuff, like meowth). He will talk to you and show you 'photos' of them, this is: I'm making sprites of their faces and put them in the infamous 25 free slots between celebi and treecko, since I'm assuming they have to cry (I hope I'm right) and use the 0x75th command to show them. I'll see if I can show more than one at once (when I discovered that command, I saw you could place it anywhere, and that you'd have to use a command to close it, so theoretically it would be possible).
I'll also put a "WANTED" sign with almost the same script.

In quartz, Kawa was said to be more than 200 years old if I remember correctly. Baro is supposed to be around 216 years too, and that's mentioned a lot here.
The main storyline in marble is all about that. Glass Army is looking for the same thing that made Baro and Kawa stop ageing, the source of eternal youth.

Eh, having been on SA for three years now I'm used to all the unwritten rules. It can get a little wearisome, but SA isn't for everyone. Either way, a ban is a ban and the joke ingame really was amusing.
One thing--the trainer sprites are very good, but the Pokemon proper are of a slightly lower quality. Do you use different programs for both, or techniques? The glaring difference is somewhat jarring. Also on that note, I can't say I'm really fond of the huge noses on the fire type starter and a few other wild Pokemon. To each their own, but those are the only critiques I can think of.

Go to the skate shop having the amulet tag. If you traded it for the cursed tag, you can get it back and trade again as many times as you wish.

As an excuse to bump the thread, and since all the outdoors maps are done, I've updated the progress map. Click to enlarge.
The desert routes on the limits lead to rainbowpolis city, so maybe next map has those maps split so they connect properly with the city.
Oh yeah and last map may still have some minor changes.
fun fact: I noticed a mapping error after resizing a map's pic.
Now, gotta do a lot of trainers, whiteclay city indoors and many other things. You gotta wait for beta 2.

On the beggining I just smashed connections, but then the map took shape. Now I even have the railways planned.

It's curious that you say that, because I was planning on putting a circus troupe in one of the desert routes. You battle them, then the leader of the troupe gives you an item.
But, nah, I won't put a circus in rainbowpolis.

On progress update, I've made all desert routes and whiteclay town have a 1/3 chance of having a sandstormy weather every time you enter them, and made most maps of the city. Now I gotta do people scripts and... dance!
In the belly dance dance hall of Whiteclay town you can talk to the dance master and she'll ask you to dance with her. Á la Zelda Oracle of Ages style, she'll teach you the moves first, then do some sequences you'll have to memorize and then repeat. You'll have to do a minimum of steps in each sequence. Once you pass the dancing test, you can battle her and get a Mirage Glass, which will open the door of the mirage tower in the desert.

Not, because the pokemon sets are different. As an example, Covolts was on pikachu's slot in quartz but now it's on kakuna's. Also, there will only be 251 occupied slots, the rest will be fake BAD EGGS, although they'd supposedly auto-transform into actual BAD EGGS since I'll put all their stats to 0, so the checksum would return an error and transform the pokemon into a bad egg in trades.
I wonder what the Mirage Tower will be like? Maybe we'll battle Kid and Curry? I guess I'll have to wait for beta 2 to find out!Also I like the dance hall idea,it's great! Keep up the good work Baro.
Nope, in beta 2 you'll only be able to get to the first floor. After all, it's like the equivalent to lavender tower, as in there're ghosts and a ghost event. You'll get the ghost-revealing device on rainbowpolis, so you'll have to wait to beta 3.
But, yes, on mirage tower you'll meet Kid and Curry. And also The phantom... and a new bad guy, one of the pieces that completes the "jigsaw" (i.e.: you'll understand why the Phantom thinks you are from Glass Army)
So, who wants to be post number 400?

not, because a Boultan will be sleeping there. You'll need the pokeflute to play a song for me, then it will wake up and supposedly dance (I say supposedly because as well as you don't see snorlax attack in fire red, here I won't waste an sprite in a dancing boultan... or will I? I still have to decide, anyway that's beta 3 stuff).
In that cave you'll find the Rainbowpolis gym leader, since she won't be at the gym... there will be a funny surprise joke there ;).
I still haven't decide, but my idea is that maybe you get the ghost detector after beating the last trainee in rainbowpolis gym, then in mirage tower you get the pokeflute. Now I gotta arrange it to be coherent with the story.
Oh and there's something about Kayuko's Lab.I think people might skip the event by going through Mole Galleries.(I think)Maybe after you defeat Patricia there could be Molemen blocking it?I'm not sure really.
You can also skip going to kayuko's hideout in cobaltstation, so you won't be able to get the orange package from the lab (since you won't have the key). Anyway, once you get cut, you can cut down the tree at cobaltstation park and enter the lab through the back door. It's up to the player to decide whether taking the shortcut or the longcut, although since you'll have cut, the most logical thing is to explore the new ways that will open by cutting down trees. The game is enough linear as it is, so blocking the long way wouldn't be a good idea.
Also, kayuko's new hideout will be in rainbowpolis, so if you don't do that part, nobody will be there. As a side note, to enter there you will also need to get the password from the parnot at wisteria village, so maybe you gotta buy mole cookies.
I'll stop asking questions since I said alot,but I willask a few soon.

I told Xiros to bump the thread because I was uploading the video of the dancing script to youtube, but failed. tried to record it again and failed to convert video file. Youtube's a *%&·!
Actually that happened before, when I recorded the shiny, that's why there isn't a video of it.
But well, you'll see it in the beta.
The script is done, after an entire afternoon and 12 Kb of 570 lines of source code.
There're 5 steps: Jump, waist move, spin right, spin left, and mambo. You're taught the moves and then the dancing leader does 4 sequences, each one more and more fast (less wait between steps). You have to make a minimum steps in each sequence to pass:
3/4 in the firs, 4/6 in the second, 6/8 in the third and perfect 8/8 in the last one.
After each sequence, you gotta chose the steps you are going to make (obviously, the ones that the NPC did). The other dancers at the hall will always do the right step, so if you fail, you'll notice it because you'll be the only one doing a different movement. After the 4 sequences, you battle the leader of the belly dancers and receive the mirage glass as a prize.
Argh, damn youtube, if it worked, it'd be so cute to watch!

Subrosian dance were in OoS, in OoA is goron dance, which is more like this.
The good thing here is that you don't have to care about time, just choose the right steps.

Yes, it is necessary to do this since you'll need the Mirage Glass to complete the game.

So, it's like a memory game, then? Hmmm... And the speed of the movement of the dancers is what makes it a challenge, I see. Well, I understand it now. Maybe sometime later you could make something like an "extreme" challenge or something like that (because I'm sure there's always people who'd like to brag about their good memory :laugh:)

That's a good idea, Baro. It looks very good, and the idea of the memory game, as well as the cool dance moves, would add a great addition to this game. I always liked this game (even though I've never finished the Beta), so keep it going, Baro. Good luck!

dancing seems hard, i have no clue on remembering dance steps! wait...are the moves in the video like the ones in the game?(hehehe, cheating time) dancing seems kind of a new thing for pokemon. hope the game goes well! Although, i have no memory on comp to play, so a good luck from a guy who reads peoples comments and goes along with them.

how far are you planning on getting until you post beta 2? i played throught beta 1.1 in under an hour..... it was masive but still short.... know what i mean? but for a beta 1 you used up a lot of the mapping space..... i hope this works out well..... bol

I looked at the beta 2 map again and I noticed some things.
In Whiteclay Town there's an oasis,and a big building below the pokemart that's probably the belly dance hall and there's an Inn.
There's a place below Wist Woods where the egg train stops.What's that places name?
In Blue Lands there's a cave that is possibly the Bomberman location.
In Sky Lands the Forest Passage has three entrences/exits.The Forest Passage must be big.
Thats what I noticed about the Beta 2 map.

Yes. But the sequences will be the same.
If you fail several times you can write them down.
And since the other dancers will dance along with you (but doing the correct steps), after several tries you can get the sequences if you don't see them when the dancin leader does them.

Maybe beta 2 is a bit shorter (the new parts, I mean)... But well, betas are short? I don't give a duck, since sooner or later I WILL end it. So this is not like when other hacks release a beta and it's short and days later they start a new hack and forget the old one.
What do you mean by mapping space? I am adding new map banks in AM. To be exact, I added 2: one with 20 from which I used like 13, and another that it's only reserved, and when I use it I'll reserve like 50 maps, and there's still plenty of rom space.

Thats what I noticed about the Beta 2 map.
- The dance hall is the big building at the very south of whiteclay town
- It's still wistwoods
- Yep, that's bomberman's
-Actually four: 2 from sky lands, the southern that leads to the desert, and the northern which leads to wisteria village. But actually it's not big. In fact, it's very short. It's like the underground road from FIRE RED, but with some stuff on it (but no wild pokemon). There're some low level covolts hanging from the trees and a guy asks you to get rid of them (then he gives you a choice band). The secret is that some of those covolts hold good items, so if you remember this when playing the beta 2, catch them.

See above. The forest passage is a pretty, sweet, happy, light, foggy, small, cute, safe place.
UPDATING ON NEWS
I've redone attack lists from 100 to 151 since somehow I lost them. Also, I did the pokedex size comparison and Ht/Wt for all pokemon, and put some new phone events (I realized there were none new!). This weekend/next week I'll make the trainers of the 2 last routes, a couple of lucky tags events, some pokemon data (stats and check the evolutions)... aaaaaand we're done (after some fast stuff: wild pokemon and background musics). Unless I die or something worse, next weekend the beta will would be ready. Then if Xiros/Serg!o are online, it'll be released.
Also, I've been thinking and maybe I'm putting 3 new pokemon on 151's set. Because the lowheaven kings of west, south and east are there, and it's not logical because they're not from garna. I am yet to decide if they'll legendaries or not, but that will be beta 3 matters.

Maybe, but that would be thrice as complex as it already is...
Let me sketch it...
I can think of two possibilities:
1.-
Since the last sequence has 8 steps, use 8 extra variables to copyvar the steps created in eight random 5 sentences. Then 5 comparevars for the dancers to do the right step, then 5 more to check if that's the right step...
2.-
randomize a previously fixed amount of sequences, then use as many branches of the script as sequences exist.
Maybe I do it, but well...

Then again, if I randomize, BTK is right. Not on the fact that people can't remember things (now the simpsons episode when they change the phone prefixes comes to my mind, they say somewhere something like CartoonPhone:"it's been proven that even a monkey can remember up to 10 numbers, are you dumber than a monkey" Moe/Apu:"A superinteligent monkey?" CartoonPhone:"Of course not!"), but it'd be tiring to start over and over again.
So then again two solutions are possible:
- When wrong, goto previous parts of the script and try again with a brand new sequence of the same level.
- When wrong, set a flag so when you come back you start in that one. I'd reject this because I'm very mean with flags. My precioouuuuuus.

Remember, on saturday or sunday beta 2 will be ready and I hope released. Maybe even Friday night (GMT+1) depending on who's online and all that. I've already done all the trainers in one of the last routes, that, another route, a couple of simple events, wild pokemon data and background music makes the minimuns for the release. That'll be done today (Monday and yesterday I wasted time beating abe's oddysee (100%) and abe's exodus (lol in italian, ciao, sequiri mi, lavora!, fallo!, aiuuuuuto lol) so I know that'll be on time). Then, I'm going to start with stats and/or HM/TM compatibility (PA doen't work well with HM's 07 and 08 so I'll gotta grab windows calc and werk it myself).

Yep, I also agree with Christos and Blazichu's choice. Your hack has a lot of effort, mainly put on showing new features for the players, and the fact that you work on your spriting all alone.
So, I'll be waiting for that release, to have another taste of Marble. Let's see if this time I manage to find a new Pokemon that I can feel attached to :P

It's shorter in length than beta 1, but I had less time and this time I've done greatest things (You know it)
Oh by the way the dancing script is now random. Up to 8 random steps you have to memorize and copy, if you fail you can try again a similar sequence. I must say, in last round, the random fails a bit because of the speed, so the steps repeat and it's not that hard. Also, when you complete it, you can play again.
Remember to report any bug you find. After all, it's a beta and you're betatesting it.
Known issues: I've changed some flags since beta 1, so some events may repeat (once) ONLY if you continue your game. for example: Baro giving you the Trainers

Ouch, didn't ven think of that possibility... fixing now.
If you can somehow avoid that ghost with savestates (it's because of magiken, which also has synchronize, so you can avoid it)... if it gets too tiring, I'll gotta release a minibug patch. Report more stuff if you find it.

Second one... in map it was a hiker wasn't it? I searched it in pet and had a rooki so I suppose so.

I got done with Beta 2 yesterday.It took me awhile to finish.
The swimmers in Kellygreen Gym and the one on Cobalt Beach have the wrong overworld.
What happens if I don't get Kayuko's Key?

In Whiteclay town you can walk on the bookshelves in the houses.
The guy in green named Aali has the same text as the biker he replaced along with the Pokemon he uses.

I got done with Beta 2 yesterday.It took me awhile to finish.
The swimmers in Kellygreen Gym and the one on Cobalt Beach have the wrong overworld.
What happens if I don't get Kayuko's Key?

Ow man, I should NOT choose the grass type starter as my starter. It's no good!
Yea, I found no glitches in the game.
I only have suggestions::
1. When you use Explosion, it should have a very, very small earthquake.
2. Shiny Zappel is a special fakemon so should have stronger moves and higher level. Not 20, but at least 25 and higher stats.
3. Egg Train has a small explosion too. So it should have a small, samll earthquake too.

I'm having a problem too.
I'm using a gameshark file and every time I save, turn it off, turn it on, press continue, and skip the flashback, IT RESTARTS!
It got me so mad that I'll have to re-patch to a clean ROM and not use a gameshark file.
I don't know about everyone else, but this game is hard for me.
I lose a bunch of times (not being whiny).
But, how do I fix that.

Gamesharks are not my problem. You shouldn't use gamesharks at all, savestates are enough cheat. What are you going to do, gameshark to get mewtwo? *blink* *blink*

Hm? After the train, you shold have cut BEFORE getting again to cobaltstation, as it's needed to get to cyan town. If you're for the first time in cobaltstation, you need to get the cursed tag (from the exorcist in the house with the broken door) and go to grace beach (south-east to kellygreen), go to laetitia's house and talk to ger to get the ticket, then ride the train in cobaltstation.
You get CUT from the man at wist castle.

1.- Yeah gotta find a -working- special that makes that earthquake effect.
2.- It's not possible to say "go, higher stats in this wildbattle!*. And I don't want to gift a high lever pokemon. Actually, it's just a pokemon with a pigmentation problem - a very unique pigmentation problem. Did red gyarados be braver than other gyarados? It just was mightier in comparison with the other magikarp.
3.- See 1.

- My bad, didn't realize that one.
- Nothing by now. You can't get the orange package in the secret tunnel, so you can't give it to Kayuko and that's all in beta 2. In beta 3 it'll mean he won't be at his secret backdoor lab and you won't be able to get in even if you got the password from Parnot.
- Hmmmmmmm interesting that'll be hard to spot, specially because I have the source code in my laptop - and my laptop is not here.

Okay, I get it now. Shiny Zappel is already cool. I don't think it needs high stats or higher levels anymore. I think Zel's SG has some small earthquakes when you walk in S.S Aqua Fastship. I think you can use those.

I just beat the first gym, and I'm really liking it. You have a great cast of characters and new Pokemon. Only suggestion I would be is to mix the events up a little. It's just kind of boring being called back from leaving the first town to get a pokemon, and then battle your rival right away. Same goes with delivering the parcel, and meeting the "old man" on the second town. I think you should mix these up a bit, supply a slightly different (but not complicated) quest to get the Pokedex, get your first Pokemon a different way than the normal games, I think you understand me. :)
But yeah, this still gets a 9.5/10 in my book, keep it up. Probably a 10/10 if you alter the scripts and mix things up so it's 100% unpredictable from the original game.
