KLS
June 20th, 2004, 04:35 AM
if one magic card could represent you what would it be?
to me it'd be a birds of paradise
birds of paradise whenever i use it
it brings me lots of good luck
without it i'd be doomed
birds are the best things next to instant bowl-ramen
without these 2things in my life i can't live

KLS
June 23rd, 2004, 05:10 AM
Ravager is way to expensive it's not even THAT good
ok fine maybe it is THAT good
STILL IT'S OVERRATED
John Denver
June 23rd, 2004, 02:26 PM
Ball lightning...how much is the casting cost?
[3][mountain]
KLS
June 23rd, 2004, 08:00 PM
no just 3 mountains
not 3 colorless/mountain
Kenny_C.002
June 23rd, 2004, 08:03 PM
We represent it with "RRR"
Anyway, Ravager is quite overrated for its power, I mean I knew about it long before those idiot spikers even thought of it. lol
KLS
June 23rd, 2004, 11:00 PM
man i woulda thought of the best combo for an affinity deck and if skullclamp was still alive
genesis chamber + skullclamp = pWnAgE
Kenny_C.002
June 24th, 2004, 02:45 AM
lol. That WAS the combo I used. and It's still very good. I knew you would've thought of it before those idiot spikeys. :P
turn 4 kills! YEAH!
KLS
June 24th, 2004, 02:47 AM
affinity deck with that combo is unbeatable
have out an Mycosynth and your really unbeatable
Kenny_C.002
June 24th, 2004, 02:58 AM
With the golem? I still can't push to turn 3 with chambers tho...
KLS
June 24th, 2004, 04:41 AM
i use scales/tooth of chross-goria
it's like free a add up
Kenny_C.002
June 25th, 2004, 02:29 AM
I guess. Although I'm not a big fan of neither the scales nor the teeth. lol
John Denver
June 25th, 2004, 02:45 AM
doh! I forgot what skull clamp does...I know I saw the artwork where this one gay guy had his mouth open or something
Kenny_C.002
June 25th, 2004, 02:55 AM
skullclamp 1
Artifact - equipment
equipped creature gets +1/-1
Whenever the equipped creature is sent to the graveyard, draw 2 cards.
Equip 1
INSANELY BROKEN THE FIRST TIME I SAW IT! I like it still tho, I thought R&D purposely made this and let it through, tho.
KLS
June 25th, 2004, 04:49 AM
skull clamp is the very first card banned from the type 2
Kenny_C.002
June 26th, 2004, 03:24 AM
Actually, there were many more before its time. But it is the first type 2 ban for 4 years (Mercadian Masques block) and the first block constructed ban for 5 years (MEMORY JAR from Ursa's Saga block).
KLS
June 26th, 2004, 04:08 AM
well it's "officially" the first type 2 banned card
Kenny_C.002
June 26th, 2004, 04:18 PM
Well it's the first uncommon to be officially banned in type 2, if that's what you mean. I know for a fact that the port was banned officially along with the Rebel legend during the Mercadian Masques days. Both are rares. I think you mean that Type 2 didn't exist or something, but it was just like the beginning of extended if I recall, when Mercadian Masques came out (i.e. Type 2's there).
KLS
June 27th, 2004, 02:13 AM
what does Mercaidian Masques do?
Kenny_C.002
June 27th, 2004, 02:39 AM
O_O
Haven't been been around the block for a while, have you? Mercadian Masques is the block before Invasion. Invasion is the board before Odyssey.
Mercadian Masques is the block after Combo Winter (Urza's Saga block), which signalled the rebirth of magic (with some brokenness that they had to smooth out with bannings).
btw, if you were wondering, nemesis (second set in the Masques block) had some of the worst card and the best cards in the block. lol
KLS
June 27th, 2004, 02:15 PM
i thought it was a car
memory jar is just rigged no wonder it's banned
Kenny_C.002
June 27th, 2004, 03:39 PM
lol. In Nemesis, there was a rebel LEGEND that was banned. It's like the only legend to ever be banned. lol
KLS
June 28th, 2004, 01:25 AM
what does it do anyways?
is it that good?
Kenny_C.002
June 28th, 2004, 04:24 AM
It's cuz what she can do is search of ANY rebel with X mana cost and put it into play by just tapping her and paying X. This gave her so much synergy with rebels that every rebel deck ran 4. It came down to whoever playing her first wins the game, that's all. And her casting cost is like 4 or something, which is a deal (since there are rebels that make you pay 5 to search of a rebel with mana cost of 4 or lower and put it into play). this rebel deck is also immune to wraths and stuff due to the fact that there is some rebel that brings rebels back (and the cycle begins anew). So now we just patriach's bidding, then they used rebels. lol
btw, mercenaries had a push in Masques too, but they were generally horrific.
KLS
June 28th, 2004, 02:58 PM
yeah but rebel's aren't that good i mean i've NEVER seen a rebel deck
well at least not type 2 lol
Kenny_C.002
June 29th, 2004, 04:02 AM
Cuz rebels don't exist in type 2, that's why. you'll find them in type 2 if you go back 3 or 4 years, tho. It was a defining deck similar to Red Zone 2K2 decks in the invasion/odyssey type 2. Well the closest thing to it in type 2 currently is probably goblin bidding. The difference is that rebels are white/black and that you serach your deck for more rebels along with playing them (it's like double the fun!). Definitely it is still a contender against the new type 2 decks.
KLS
July 1st, 2004, 03:44 AM
oh i see
why not include rebels though?
Kenny_C.002
July 2nd, 2004, 02:33 AM
Well in type two Masques already rotated out. It's in extended, tho. Anyway, rebels won't be making a comeback anytime soon (used mechanic, won't use it for a while).
KLS
July 2nd, 2004, 02:57 AM
what's in
elf&nail
tooth&nail
artifact deck (i.e rav/affin,memnarch deck)
goblins?
eternal/exalted deck
what's out?
everything else
i think kenz would disagree you could tell me what you like and dislike
Kenny_C.002
July 4th, 2004, 03:06 AM
Tourney scene, what's in:
Affinity
Goblin Bidding
Tooth and Nail (Elf&nail is gone)
UW Control
Crystal Shard (deck)
GFC Freshmaker
Slide (normal R/W slide)
mono-green
Shackles deck (?????)
No changes to decks other than slide probably SBing out the Damping Matrixes. Tooth and Nail probably would be back to 12post style in type 2 due to the fact that Slide now also uses green. UW control is considered one of the big dogs along with goblin bidding (which is in its normal form now). Affinity will probably be playing fireworks, taking the last of the rock-paper-scissors slot.
Finally, I'm adding to this list! YEAH! Crystal shard decks run 4 eternal witnesses. They also run a heck of a lot of counterspells and removal. The kill combo probably will come from just little hacks from different creatures (e.g. solemn simulacrum). so basically it's a control deck with massive removal and countering so you can safely go through for 10 turns to win. lol
GFC Freshmaker is the new red/green deck that runs sloggers (COMEBACK!), removal, and eternal witnesses. Really, the only difference between shard deck and freshmaker is that the coutnerspells are taken out for burn cards and the red creatures from freshmakers are replaced with artifact creatures in shard decks. I know, they're pretty much the same thing, but they're REALLY that good.
MONO GREEN MAKES A COMEBACK! Yup, it's finally here, the beacon, the echoing courage, the massive amounts of artifact removal. It's all back in action. Basically this deck kills artifacts before slapping the beacon onto the field, then echoing courage for a heck of a lot of damage. Very strong and placed a strong finish in some tourneys (well not as strong as GFC Freshmaker and Shard decks).
I'm not sure whether to put the shackles deck in or not, but it probably is a contender. it's basically a march of the machines deck with shackles to steal stuff. It's got the usual UW control stuff long with it, also. It's a deck to be reckoned with (I guess you can call it a UW variation).
What's not in Tourney:
Elf&Nail (no clamp)
Cemetery Cloud (no clamp)
White Weenies (no clamp)
any rogue deck that used clamp
Creature Slide
Sorry, but creature slide will NOT BE MAKING A COMEBACK! BOO!!!!!!!! Well i'll still be playing creature slide. lol
Casual, what's in:
Sunburst decks
stuff involving us johnnies lol
Auriok Champion decks (multiplay)
Combo decks
Shackle decks (those are FUNNY)
What's not:
The usual tourney stuff lol
KLS
July 4th, 2004, 01:19 PM
yeah i thought elf/nail wouldn't work because without the clamp it's rating went WAY down
Kenny_C.002
July 5th, 2004, 02:33 AM
Yeah. I'll keep an eye out for GFC Freshmakers. Those might be around for a while. lol
KLS
July 5th, 2004, 01:18 PM
it's so freaking annoying
those sloggers
the sloggers are the finishers
you know that right?
Kenny_C.002
July 7th, 2004, 02:36 AM
Yup. Sloggers are finishers unlike shard decks (just like random creatures killing ppl lol).
KLS
July 7th, 2004, 01:35 PM
i had 11 cards left on my deck
my friend had 2 life,i was down to 3
he had a colossus on the field i had an arc-slogger
i thought i was gonna deck out
it's THAT risky
Kenny_C.002
July 8th, 2004, 02:10 AM
Nice! Risky is my middle name! I make risky combos that hang on threads! (like the death pits/grave pact deck I have, just pure risks)
KLS
July 8th, 2004, 01:38 PM
are you kidding?
kenny i had 1 card on my deck it was pure luck that i won
Kenny_C.002
July 9th, 2004, 03:19 AM
Naw, I don't think it's pure luck. Just that you kinda took some bigger risks than usual. lol
KLS
July 9th, 2004, 03:21 AM
which i s highly unlikely because i am a spike
Kenny_C.002
July 10th, 2004, 02:10 AM
Not really. It depends on the type of Spike you are. Some Spikes do calculate everything down to the wire (mostly the spike/johnnies).
KLS
July 11th, 2004, 02:29 PM
i'm a spike/johnny 70%=spike 30%=johnny
kenny you seem like more of a johnny/spike to me 70%=johnny 30%=spike
Kenny_C.002
July 12th, 2004, 03:04 AM
Funny the thing came up pure Johnny for me huh! I probably am a bit spikey in some days tho, so I don't doubt it. lol
KLS
July 12th, 2004, 01:55 PM
most of the time i'd do anything to win
but than again i'd like to have fun winning instead of JUST winning
Kenny_C.002
July 14th, 2004, 03:05 AM
Me? I don't care for winning as much tho...
KLS
July 15th, 2004, 03:01 AM
oh yes to me winning is everything
Kenny_C.002
July 16th, 2004, 02:24 AM
lol. Oh those darn spikeys. lol Not you tho, but at least half of the rest of them. lol
KLS
July 16th, 2004, 04:25 AM
you johnnies scare me oh yes you do
Kenny_C.002
July 18th, 2004, 01:39 AM
Yo don't mess wit us Johnnies that are raised on the streets...of Eternia. lol
btw, I just got my 4th Eternal Witness today! Yay! Also got some Mercadian Masques cards for no reason. Got only crap rares tho...ahh at least I got brainstorm out of it. lol
KLS
July 24th, 2004, 04:45 AM

Kenny_C.002
July 25th, 2004, 12:32 AM
Yup. lol
The pricing doesn't seem to drop either. :P
o btw, you do know brainstorm, right?
KLS
July 25th, 2004, 01:20 AM
of course brainstorms are really good
Kenny_C.002
July 25th, 2004, 03:02 AM
k. They tried with serum visions and I have to say that it's a VERY good try. Almost equal power level too...
KLS
July 25th, 2004, 04:32 AM
i'm a fan of blue spells myself....
rewind is one of my favorite counters
Kenny_C.002
July 26th, 2004, 03:20 AM
Yeah. Free counters are always good. Man, remember the times with time walks and timetwisters and...yeah. :P
Blue before onslaught = broken. :D
KLS
July 26th, 2004, 03:23 AM
yep now blue's compacity went down
Kenny_C.002
July 26th, 2004, 03:59 AM
Yeah. The colour wheel revision was basically "take stuff from blue and stick them to other colours". And occasionally we'll take stuff from green, which will just magically disappear. *sigh*
