View Full Version : Rethink of team

Ok, since the old thread gave me good suggestions and the team needed a change anyway, I've had a complete rethink of my team, and it's ended up looking like this:

Venusaur @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Overgrow
EV: 50 HP / 216 SpAtt / 244 Speed
Nature: Modest
Sleep Powder
Leaf Storm
Sludge Bomb
HP Water

I got lucky eventually with the HP. I have enough speed to outspeed Weavile with 244 Speed, rather than maxing it.

Mantine @ Leftovers
Trait: Water Absorb
EV: 252 HP / 68 SpAtt / 188 SpDef
Nature: Calm
Surf
Ice Beam
Aqua Ring
Mirror Coat

Special wall. Mirror Coat can deal with most un-STABbed Thunderbolts, people often forget about Mantine's 140 base SpDef. Shame he doesn't have access to any better healing moves. But then, that's where this guy comes in:

Umbreon @ Leftovers
Trait: Synchronise
EV: 252 HP / 112 Def / 144 SpDef
Nature: Bold
Wish
Taunt
Curse
Baton Pass

Taunt stops phazers who think they can be funny.

Muk @ Black Sludge
Trait: Sticky Hold
EV: 252 HP / 68 Att / 188 SpDef
Nature: Quiet
Substitute
Focus Punch
Shadow Sneak
Fire Blast

First-strike moves are always good for picking on Focus Sashers and the like, as well, as giving Muk a surprise to play with.

Forretress @ Leftovers
Trait: Sturdy
EV: 252 HP / 252 Def / 6 SpDef
Nature: Relaxed
Gyro Ball
Rapid Spin
Spikes/Stealth Rock
Light Screen

Rather than blowing up my spiker/spinner/wall, let's give it Light Screen for team support/lasting power.

Salamence @ Choice Specs
Trait: Intimidate
EV: 252 SpAtt / 252 Speed / 6 HP
Nature: Timid
Draco Meteor
Dragon Pulse
Flamethrower
Hydro Pump

Yeah, this guy again.

Ok, so I'm still lacking a dedicated physical sweeper. Umbreon can be the one to replace if it's really needed, he's mainly in for Wish support for Mantine cos it lacks a real healing move of its own (Aqua Ring doesn't count, but it does give him lasting power especially if I get Light Screen up).

Any fixes much appreciated

MAX defense on umbreon...it pretty much needs it. Otherwise, it gets murdered by any pokemon with a physical fighting attack...like staraptor.

So you mean I should go 252 HP / 252 Def / 6 SpDef with Bold nature? That's a bit hefty considering I'm Cursing anyway. But then again, things seem to hit a lot harder nowadays, so yeah.

you can probably put a bit more in SDef considering you have curse...but yeah, it needs a lot of defense.
