yeah thats the usual set, unless you didnt raise the slaking yourself in which case i'd go for strength over return

Happiness can be built up easy enough for Return to be used. Anyway, Giga Impact is fine as a STAB move, although Return does give you a hit-and-run option.

Hit and Run is the way to go with a slaking

Yeah...giga impact allows heracross to come in and OHKO you...but it still can work

Take advantage of Truant and use Giga Impact? :D
Shadow Claw is sorta needed, but Earthquake and Normal type attack has no true coverage. You need Rock Slide/Stone Edge

You are right, if there's one pokemon to use giga impact, it's magikarp Slaking.

not rly; w/ slaking, no recharge is needed, it proceeds as normal (w/ truant, of course). if u want uber pwnage, skill swap it

No...hit and run IS the way to go with slaking, otherwsie a powerful little CBmence comes in and OHKOs you while you recharge. Don't put down correct advise. Giga impact works, but it is extremely risky. you can't switch on the recharge turn...with return, you can.

there is no recharge; its considered a truant turn.

Night Slash > Shadow Claw cause Normal Types can't resist it k
Also, Stone Edge is too inaccurate to be relied on just to strike a Flying Type then switch later. Rock Slide is just as useless since a SE one of those attacks does LESS than a STABed Return.

lol do some freakin research. You CAN'T SWITCH after giga impact or hyper beam! Otherwsie everybody would use it. It's simple logic you are totally ignoring.
EDIT: Wasn't talking to you Iceman3k...

Ah I didn't know that Slaking learns Night Slash :P
I really got to look at STABbed moves first before I use an attack less than 80 Base Power

What's with the EVs? Slaking needs the speed :/

Great. You recharge only 1 turn STILL. the problem is, you can't switch out during the rechargwe like you can after other attacks, so DDers can come in and set up or hera can come in and rape you.

In a way, you can consider all of Slaking's base stats halved - Truant ability is the cause unless you really switch out a lot.
I wouldn't use Slaking myself - its not very useful.
Also - where are your EVs!?!?

Yeah.
That would be Nice. Then get out a alakazam with skill swap and your set! And if you want it would be good to get him to have wander guard then he would be pretty much invincible.

Only in double battles >_> I've seen computer players in Pokemon Colosseum lay out the Skill Swapping strategy, but that Slaking had Shadow Ball XD

I found a good way to rid Slaking of Traunt is that one attack Weepinbell, Shuckle, and a few other Pokemon learn... Gastro Acid, it gets rid of the Pokemon's ability. I don't quite know which Pokemon it'd work best with, but a Focus Sash might want to be held just in case the Pokemon that's supposed to execute the move isn't so fast and is fragile.
The way I can see it Victreebel, Swalot, Shuckle, or your best bet it would seem, Craydily would work best using the move... I've only seen one person pull this off and they used Shuckle, so I'm not really sure I haven't tried it out myself but I imagine with Slaking the ridence of Traunt is welcome.

But the Alakazam shifted it's Truant to my Metagross of fury! =(

If you're gonna use the skill swap strategy, don't do it with alakazam...it might not survive to pull it off! For the record, you can't skill swap wonder guard onto something :/

It'd be funny if you could Skill Swap Wonder Guard onto Spiritomb.

Good luck with that :/
The thing I love about slaking is focus punch...risky a little, but with a bit of prediction you are hammering forry and skarm HARD.

That's what I use, Focus Punch Slaking. Does he nessacarily need Sub for it to be effective?

With traunt? Heck no! Sub is horrible on it actually.
It needs prediction is what it needs...
