Heracross, Pinsir or Scyther

hey everyone i have started playing through pokemon crystal again and i am now in need of a grass/bug type pokemon and im stuck between Heracross, Pinsir and Scyther and want to know which is the best one in crystal.

None of them are grass type :/

Heracross is thought of as the best by nearly everybody, but I prefer pinsir.

Well, when I don't know what your team is, it's tough to tell. you asked who I thought was the best. I answered. If you want to know why, I'll tell you, but calm down...

Pinsir has great attack, a nice attack movepool, and decent speed. there's your reason...

For me, Scyther looks the most elegant and coolest.

Team wise, APCW13 is correct.

Heracross has better Attack,while Scyther is stronger in Special Attack. Obviously if you're wanting a nice Bug type, you'll want to go with the one with stats that most compliment the area. Heracross learns Megahorn and its all around movepool is better than Scyther's. And Pinsir is worst of the three.

I like scyther since he evolves into my third favorite pokemon Scizor. In almost all my pokemon games I get a scyther. I also level him up almost as high as my starter and I can beat almost everybody with it.

So really it doesnt matter on what its stats are. Since you can level them up yourself manualy. It really matters on how hard to catch and how easy it is to level it up.

I'd go with Heracross stat wise.

Megahorn will help you at later points in the game (and will absolutely PWN Sabrina)

I prefer Scyther myself.
Mainly, because I've had a liking for it as a Bug pokemon from the beginning and I thought it's evolution was totally awesome. XD

Scyther is awesome because when you evolve it it's the Steel type!

I went with Pinsir since Scyther has a 4x weakness to Rock and Heracross has a 4x weakness to Flying type moves. Also Pinsir should of been a Bug and Fighting type Pokemon which I consider it one anyways because most of the moves it learns are Fighting moves

I would go with Heracross it learns Megahorn which is pretty much the best bug move in G/S/C.

Scyther is fast, but unless you evolve it, it's pretty weak. And if you evolve it, it becomes too slow.
Heracross has great attack, but only slight above average speed.
Pinsir has the same attack and speed as Heracross (I think, I haven't checked Serebii for a while), but its movepool is more limited.

It's your choice.

since when does special atk come into play? NEVER use pinsir scyther heracross w/ special atks

i'd go with syther cause later you can evolve him and have a bug and steel type in one

The only downside of Pinsir is that in GBC games, he can't learn any Bug-type moves except Fury Cutter and most of his moves are 100% resisted against Ghost-types. Regardless, I'd still stick with him.

If you're playing Crystal, get Scizor for his awesome animation

Edit: Oh, Scyther / Scizor can't learn Bug-type moves either... But they can learn Reversal, Steel Wing, Wing Attack, Swords Dance, Slash, Pursuit, and Quick Attack :o

I like Pinsir myself. Scyther is worthless unless you evolve it, and then it is too slow. Pinsir is faster than both Scizor and Heracross, and for that I'm willing to give up the 5 or 10 base attack. Pinsir is also better on defense than Heracross.

Scyther is obviously the worst of the three, thats why they had to have it evolve.

Just because a pokemon isn't the strongest of the three doesn't mean it can't be the best. When you play pokemon, you got to add a little bit of flair to your team right? I mean, it would be boring if everyone used the same pokemon....
Oh wait, they kind of do. :D

One of the neat parts about heracross though is that it is part fighting type. Heracross is usually the only bug or fighting pokemon I'll ever use, so it can definatly help out my team in some situations...

Scyther's good just because he has great speed, but if you enjoy knocking other furry little creatures out... brutally, Heracross is the way to go. Personally, I'd choose Scyther because he looks cool. The game's easy enough anyway. :p

yes, i recommend either Pinsir, or Heracross(leaning more towards Heracross)...even if the idea of having a Scyther for the later advantages of having a steel pokemon does sound nice....its still not worth it...

Pinsir is the coolest, IMO, but probably the weakest until DP (maybe even still).
The best is obviously Heracross, but the thing is way too OU for my taste.
