What did you think of Crystal and using cell phone?

I have never tried it and don't know if anyone still uses it. But I wonder, did you think it as a good idea that you could use you phone and Crystal verion to battle/trade with people far away? Did it cost anything?

Wi-Fi is a better idea imho. Cell phones are slower and more expensive.

I wonder if many people used it.I haven't researched but my speculation would be that since it didn't come to the US, it wasn't deemed popular enough in Japan to be worthwhile.

Not to mention the work required: port the phone network code from Japanese to US systems and set up servers.

What I've heard, it didn't reach US because cell phones were less common there. They thought it wasn't good if the Pokemon gamers had use for this, or something that way. Just what I've heard.
