This is going to be the thread where I put all of my tutorials. I am hoping to add a few more over the weeks although I am busy with my own hack and school. All of the pictures in my guides are under spoilers.

Let's start by opening the program unLz.GBA.
http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u54/Ooka_100/unlz.jpg

Once you have the program open, select open file and find your ROM that you will be editing the pokemon in. In my case I will be using Fire Red.
http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u54/Ooka_100/unlz2.jpg

Well, I believe the numbers can be different but all of my pokemon's pictures are located from 668-1498, in this tutorial I am going to be adding Chimchar in over Charmander so I am going to select 674.
http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u54/Ooka_100/unlz3.jpg

Now what you want to do is click Save As.
http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u54/Ooka_100/unlz3-1.jpg

Open the picture in Paint or any other Picture editing program as shown.
http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u54/Ooka_100/unlz4.jpg

Now expand the work size and copy and paste a picture of Chimchar off of the internet. Replace the Charmander with a Chimchar and make it look like this.
http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u54/Ooka_100/unlz5.jpg
NOTE:It would be safe to save the picture as so that you don't replace the picture of Charmander in case anything happens.

Go back to unlz and click the button import and select the Chimchar picture.
http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u54/Ooka_100/unlz6.jpg

Click write to ROM and change the settings to the ones in the picture below.
http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u54/Ooka_100/unlz7.jpg

Select okay and you will have successfully have put a D/P pokemon in your ROM, just remember that the pokemon you are inserting should be really close to the same colors as the one you are replacing. Next I will probably do a walkthrough of how to edit the information in PokeAmp.

Why don't you just edit pallets if you can't find the right replacement. pallet editing is not that hard.

Well, I didn't check the export Palette because I use the same palette as the Charmander when I replace it with a Chimchar.

And, what about re-sizing bigger Pokemon like Lugia? And if it says, "Image not Indexed" What do you do? You need to add those for people that dont know that. Your guide is very basic. I take it the same as Scizz's guide.

Well, you have to check "Export palette" For other pokemon like:
Replacing Mewtwo with Palkia, because the colors aren't the same.

You don't necessarily have to find a pokemon with alike colors either.

See what I mean.
DON"T STEAL DIALGA!!!

It might be possible with ASM hacking (CBM would be the one to ask that) but as it stands you can't

That kind of thing usually happens when you the image you use to replace takes a larger amount of space in the 64x64 image. So just check that you don't have any stray pixels around the bottom of the picture.

EDIT: How do you change the small bouncing picture in the Pokemon menu and the back sprite of the Pokemon because in UNLZ you only get the shiny back sprite.

Thats easy, that happens when the sprite is bigger that the one you are replacing...
Im not talking about the file size that is 64 x 64, im talking about the lonely sprite ^^
Eg: If you insert Darkrai, replacing Pidgey, that lines might appear and the next sprite
will dissapear. If you check the box that says "Auto Abor If New Data Is Bigger", a message
will appear saying that the imagen is too big... You Understand? Is simple, Darkrai is Bigger
than Pidgey in size ^^ I hope i had clear out this doubt ^^

This thread is only 2 weeks old right? So...

http://i29.tinypic.com/k0orys.png

Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

I followed the instructions and clicked "Save as..."
[ Saved as a PNG. ]
Then I opened Paint and used this sprite (http://www.pokemonelite2000.com/sprites/dptr/dptr130.png).
Anyway it was 80px big. So I edited it and stuff, and saved it as PNG.
So when I clicked "Import" it did as it said, but the file size was too big...
I opened Photoshop, cropped the image to 64px but it looked bad,
so I set it to 72px and imported again and this time it was excepted.
And know this happens. x[

Any help is greatly appreciated! I'm on my like, 5th try now. T_____T

1st to change the bouncing sprite you need to have iconed
2ns in unLZ you have to change the palette. its usually the one before or after it

hope i helped
