Since so many n00bs on here, are shooting down adivce, I thought i'd make a Thread about this.
1.) You're asking to get your Thread locked.
2.) People will call you a n00b, and that isn't good.
3.) Nobody is perfect, so take advice, please. Don't get us angry.

Obviously you don't get what he means.
Its when you ask for help, & then shoot down every bit of help. THAT makes you a noob.
& dark, if this is SPAM, why the HELL did you post? Spamming a SPAM thread. Honestly.
Though this is somewhat pointless thread.

Well, I won't get into this to avoid getting into trouble, but...
Regardless of if it's spam, I do have an opinion on this. first off, 80% of advice isn't personal preference. Experience would be a better word. Sure, I'd prefer to use CB blissey, but that wouldn't be so good...
But even it it was, it's no excuse for shooting down advice. If you disagree with the advice and say why, that's totally different. But making comments that aren't really true and often taking people out of context IS shooting advice down and is generally annoying.
It's just annoying to have people with suck narrow-minded views and nothing to back them up. With a bit of fact behind it, I'm cool. But otherwise...

yeh but just because it's the standard moveset for that pokemon dosn't mean it has to be the one used and just because people say no to it dosn't mean there shooting down the advice, if everyone stuck to it the advice you give then there would be no point playing pokemon against other people couse everyone would be useing the same 6 pokemon with the same natures/attacks/items/ev's etc...., and where's the fun in that

yeh but just because it's the standard moveset for that pokemon dosn't mean it has to be the one used
But it IS the best set. which is why it's standard.
and just because people say no to it dosn't mean there shooting down the advice,
We never said that. Certain people aren't backing up their disagreement with any solid factual evidence to support it. that would be shooting down advice.
if everyone stuck to it the advice you give then there would be no point playing pokemon against other people couse everyone would be useing the same 6 pokemon with the same natures/attacks/items/ev's etc...., and where's the fun in that
Um, we give sets for the pokemon they're using, and SUGGEST replacements. we don't say "Use skarm, bliss, Mence, Zam, Weavile, Suicune. you fail if you don't use those." We don't do that...just an example though. I mean, we make corrections, nothing more...and until there is some fact behind the decision, it IS mindlessly shooting down advice, no matter how you spin it.

The standards are standard for a reason. Why do you think nobody uses Wall Weavile?
Also, there are a lot of different Pokemon used in standard play, many of which can fill multiple roles. When you see a Garchomp, you don't know its build. It could be a Scarf Chomp and outspeed your sweeper, or it could be a Chainchomp and destroy your wall. And what happens if someone uses a UU? It's mind games like these that make the metagame interesting. Frankly, you sound like someone who's never played a real battle against a skilled opponent.

November 19th, 2007, 03:13 AM
well those are pritiy much the only replacements you o suggest why not try suggesting other pokemon and mixing it up a little i mean there are almost 500to choose from that way the wifi battles, win or loose, will be alot more enjoyable
First of all, end punctuation.
Um, what is wrong with suggesting the best sets? Isn't that kind of the idea? If the thread starter wants a novelty set or doesn't want the standard, we'd be happy to post one :/
and 500 what? Could you maybe specify?

No, the advice given is mostly to fit the pokemon with the team and what it needs. And saying "no" to it is basically shooting it down, lol.

yeh and that i dont mind it's just when everyone has the exact same team as everyone elce which DOES seem to be the case at the moment(or maybe it just the ammount of noobs who are too lazy to think up there own teams) it makes the game extreamly boring and unchallanging.

Hey Itachi! Way to create a good flamewar thread!
sims796
November 19th, 2007, 03:23 AM
Its more of a debate.
Also, if everyone uses the same team, it isn't boring. Plenty of strategies can made, skill isn't the same. It isn't the pokemon themselves that makes a team good.
Angelic Diablo
November 19th, 2007, 03:24 AM
Skill does come into it... I mean consider the following, 2 players using SkarmBlissDol (Skarmory, Blissey, Claydol) combo to wall an opponents Electivire
1st Player sees Electivire and switches to Skarmory
Electivire uses Thunderbolt, Skarmory dies
2nd Player sees Electivire, contemplates Skarmory, remembers most Electivires carry Thunderbolt, and switches to Claydol
Electivire uses Thunderbolt, Claydol is immune
Even if everyone used the same pokemon, with the same movesets... The battles would still be totally intense and based off prediction and skill.

whatever man, i just think that the game is starting to get boring because allmost everyone is using the same pokemon all the time, i mean there are allmost 500 of them, surely there are other pokemon and other movesets/nature ect that you can suggest for people along with the standards so that we can get a bit more variaty around here.
sims796
November 19th, 2007, 03:50 AM
Now we lost sight of the thread. It isn't "I hate standards". Its noobs shooting down advice, with no real reason. You don't rate enough teams to know how that feels. Its annoying. If they won't consider advice, don't make a thread. Or have some reasoning behind it.

Not really. At least half of those 500 are pre-evolutions, which suck (250). And then, there are Pokemon that just suck altogether, such as the entire NU tier (200). Then there are UUs that are outdone by OUs, or generally just can't compete in OU (100). Then the Ubers that are too powerful for standard play (80). And that's really what you're left with.

WE. GIVE. WHAT. WORKS. Not novelty. You need to battle more.

People only rate what they see, if they have Mence/Nape/Vire/Skarm/Bliss/Weav, then that's what people rate. Hell, I love using Minun and it fails in competitive play. And if giving the standard is boring, then by all means, go find something new and see if it works.
But the problem is that there are only so many moves that benifit each Pokemon. I mean who the hell gives slow ass Herracross Reversal anymore? Who puts Egg Bomb on Blissey, who puts X-Scissor on Skarmory?

Ah, the classic "Pokemon nerd" response. It's not like any of us have a life outside of Pokemon either. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v634/Gamerman/Image%20Macros/yelwacko.gif
Well, I don't, but that's not the point.
And for the record, there are a lot more than 6 working Pokemon. Let's see, the Pokemon currently on the OU tier:
* Aerodactyl
* Alakazam
* Ambipom
* Azelf
* Blissey
* Bronzong
* Celebi
* Claydol
* Cresselia
* Donphan
* Dragonite
* Dugtrio
* Dusknoir
* Electivire
* Garchomp
* Gengar
* Gliscor
* Gyarados
* Heatran
* Heracross
* Hippowdon
* Infernape
* Jirachi
* Jolteon
* Lucario
* Machamp
* Magnezone
* Mamoswine
* Medicham
* Metagross
* Milotic
* Ninjask
* Porygon-Z
* Raikou
* Regice
* Rhyperior
* Salamence
* Skarmory
* Slaking
* Slowbro
* Snorlax
* Staraptor
* Starmie
* Suicune
* Swampert
* Togekiss
* Tyranitar
* Umbreon
* Weavile
* Weezing
* Zapdos
That's a lot of Pokemon (over 50), and that's not counting the BL Pokemon that are occasionally seen.

ok, guy's i guess your right, sorry for been a prick this is just me been me when somthing become really popular/commmon i start to hate it and question it just about every aspect of it and get snappy, but i think i understand now, im going to work on a team that dosn't use the same pokemon as everyone elce and try my best to make to a good challange for you all. and if it works your all free to copy it lol
and airconditioning i do have a life outside pokemon (i know it's i still find it a shock that it's possible) my GF is 4months pregnant and im in collage doing an electrician course and im working and i play pokemon in my spare time.

Why the hell is Dugtrio STILL OU? Even with Arena Trap, it still won't last long against Blissey or anything. It misses HP Bug severly. I've seen it like, 2 times on Shoddy.
