Burning Crusade Question

I'm soon going to get World of Warcraft. Always wanted it. But before I do, I did some research on the game's combat, such as classes, & race. I've decided that I want to be a Shaman, as I love diversability.

However, I also wanna be in the Alliance. I was SO glad that there was a new race that could be a Shaman-The Daerei.

So here's the question. Since I want to start as this new race, I must get Burning Crusade. But if I get Crusade, do I also get the original WoW, or must I get the first game?

You must get the original World of Warcraft in order to install Burning Crusade on top of it. As with all expansion packs, the original game is needed.

There is actually a World of Warcraft Battle Chest out now that includes both World of Warcraft and the Burning Crusade expansion, in a similar way to the Starcraft and Warcraft III Battle Chests. I used to play WoW, so I know alot about it, first off yes you need the orginal WoW to play TBC, Secondly it's Draenei lmao & choose your spec wisely, Elemental for damage, Enhancement for melee & Resot for healing, My shaman was Resto

Yes you need the Original World of warcraft.

Put your points into enhance while you are gaining levels you will like it a lot more then Resto or Elemental

If I get the original first, then the Expansion right away, can I start as the Draenei immediately? Or must I make a race THEN change to Draenei?

I'm dissapointed that shamans cannot use swords. Thats a slap in the face. So are there any good melee staffs I should look out for?

You can make a draenei right when you start if you got BC installed.

I didn't really use staffs for melee, most staffs are for casters/healers.

I used 2-handed Axes/Maces until Duel Wield @ 40 (spec'd Enhancement for leveling).
It's recommended that you respec to be Restoration or Elemental end-game.

Still, call me a nerd if ya like, but I always imagined myself with a sword, so thats a good kick in the crotch that I can't use one. Of course, I could be a Paladin, but I lose versatility. Not worth it. I'll look for melee staffs, but I might use axes.
