When did you get into pokemon? an how old where you?

I "got into" pokemon in 2003, when the pokemon anime has just started to air here in india, and i was 9, i think...

1999, I think that's when it came to the UK. So I must have been 8/9. I got into it through the anime, I was hooked by the SS Anne episode.

I think I was around 12 when Pokemon first came out here. I remember watching the anime when it first started to air here, and getting into Pokemon Red shortly after. So, around 12-13 for me.

The year was 1997, and I had received one of those promotional videos in the mail talking about the anime series and the games. I was eleven when it came out, because I remembered having my twelfth birthday cake covered in Pokemon decorations. (My mom made it.)

That's when I actually became a fan, but I knew about Pokemon since the Porygon fiasco.

Haha, I fell right within their target audience.
Nintendo sent out other promotional video like Star Fox 64 & Banjo-Kazooie; but Pokémon had that appeal to it, and then eleven years (and about six months) later I ended up here.
Promotional VHS is brainwashing material, it screwed up my psychology.

It was '99/'00 when it came out here in Europe.
My friend showed me one day Pokemon Red on his GBC and it didn't take long till I fell in love with it. But I don't know if I saw the TV show before or if the game was the first time I "met" it.
Anyway, I'm sure I was 6 when I got to know it.

I was in third or fourth grade when it actually came out here, but I don't think I really got into it until fourth grade. Sooo... I was about nine. And now I'm eighteen. Whooo, how time flies. :'D

I originally was introduced to it by some classmates drawing Pikachu. I thought it was a South Park character at the time because I knew nothing about then-current fads. XD When I learnt what it was, I fell in love instantly and ever since, I've been a Pokémon fan.

It was 1997 my love for Final Fantasy was blooming that same year but when i went to school a few days after playing FF7 my fav game in the series i noticed a weird animal plushie a fellow class mate had turned out to be a seel and i asked her what the heck it was and she sad that word that will forever bond me to that brand name POKEMON!!!! thus my love for the pokemon mania began and Final Fantasy for awhile took a back seat to POKEMON :)
I still remember my first starter a charmander named Char on pokemon Red :)

When I watched a comercial showing that pokémon was going to be on Cartoon Network. I thought it was some kind of toy. XD
But when I watched the first episode I simply fell in love with it, and became a fan.
It was 1998, I was 8 years old, now I´m 17, almost 18...

I first played pokemon as a videogame when I was 13, with a used pokemon yellow version and a used GBC.
Because, here in Brazil, videogame is something associated with monetary condition, only rich people can buy and maintain videogames without piracy... (sadly it stills like that)

Now that I have money to buy them, I won´t play pokemon again until they release a "decent" version of pokemon, hate this entire new generation.

I got into Pokemon around the same time I got into Sailor Moon and Dragonball Z. Lol. I used watch them all on Cartoon Network, but Sailor Moon and Pokemon hooked me a lot more. I was 8 years old. Now, I don't remember the first time I saw Pokemon on TV, unfortunately, but I do remember being super duper obsessed with both it and Sailor Moon. I had a lot more Pokemon merchandise though: the toys, the games, the movies, and of course the cards, which I still have. I'm never giving my cards away. Love them. :) Pokemon 4 Life! Rofl.

I was interested in Pokemon since the first time I heared about it, which was most likely when it was first starting to get popular. But, I lost intrest for a long time, since none of the Pokemon shows seemed to intrest me alot. But what got me back to liking Pokemon more than any of my friends, and what got me to become a Pokemon expert was when I first saw Team Magma on T.V. They are awsome!
