What is your favorite video game music? Mine is from final fantasy 7. After seeing my cousin battle sephiroth for the final time in the game, I adore sephiroths theme song, one winged angel XD.

So calm and peaceful.

Most of the game music I listen to is by Motoi Sakuraba (Baten Kaitos, "Tales of" series, Mario Golf, Mario Tennis, Golden Sun, Star Ocean, Valkyrie Profile, Eternal Sonata, SSBB [main title theme]), though I thoroughly like the music from various other games such as Disgaea.

My favourite game composers are Yoko Shimomura (Kingdom Hearts), Nobuo Uematsu (Final Fantasy), and then Motoi Sakuraba and Shinji Tamura (Tales of Symphonia, Tales of the Abyss).

Though I also listen to the Okami OST a lot (can't remember the names associated with that, though) and the Katamari OSTs, and the Legend of Zelda OSTs... and... yeah. It just kinda goes on and on. XD;

Favourite OSTs would have to be Kingdom Hearts II, Re:Chain, Final Fantasy VII, and Okami. :x

edit: sdflkhdskfjsfs Forgot about Phoenix Wright! :D I adore the music in that series.

I like a lot of different video game music. But right now off the top of my head, the music from Ace Combat 04, 5 and Zero are my current faves.

Makes me wonder how the music in Ace Combat 6 will be.

My library covers everything from Banjo-Kazooie to Tetris.

Most of it come from games I own or have finished but there are a few exceptions. Final Fantasies I-VI. They're just so exceptional that I don't need images to associate with the music.

I think the bulk of my collection goes to Final Fantasy, Super Mario, and Zelda. Although, I don't find myself purposely listening to Mario even though I do enjoy it.

I have a lot of official remixes and orchestrations. I have a few fan re-arrangements too.

I also forgot to mention the music from the current Grand Theft Auto series.

Sure, it's licensed music, but the songs each fit the timeline of the games that they are in.

The only video game music composers I really like are Frank Klepacki, Martin O'Donnell, and Michael Giacchino. Halo, Command & Conquer, and Call of Duty just plain stomp Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts into the ground music-wise.

I also have a liking towards the music in Hidden & Dangerous 2 and the Battlefield franchise (Battlefield Vietnam for the win). The music in StarCraft wasn't too bad either.

I love almost everything from Chrono Trigger. Seriously, the music is wonderful. I can't think of any music I hate from it. I've also had Phoenix Wright tunes stuck in my head for awhile. It's catchy. ^_^

I find it funny that both of the soundtracks I can think of are from cartridge games. :D But nothing else really sticks out to me at the moment.

Also, when I didn't have a CD player, I'd keep on some of the music from the GSC on. I'd go to the burnt tower or surf, press pause, and just listen. Aaah, the days when I didn't have a CD player. ♥ It's been awhile since I've played GSC, though.

I'm not a fan of Kingdom Hearts. Sounds too synthy too me. But not int a good way like with the Donkey Kong Country series. Shimomura's work was just perfect on Super Mario RPG. But Kingdom Hearts didn't do it for me.

I also want to hear some of Giacchino's work. Been meaning to for a while.

That song gets so annoying, Shadow. Like you wouldn't believe. *doesn't like listening to it anymore* T__T;

Anyway, I usually can't get into game music unless I've played the games it comes from. Plus, it's my "policy" not to listen to any music past where I am in the game. Song titles can be spoilers, and I've spoilt myself more than once by listening to an OST all the way through when I'm only halfway through the game. Plus, once you've played the game, I find it makes the music more meaningful because I know exactly what part it's from, or if not, it's fun trying to guess what part of the game it's in. 8D;

I share that quirk/policy about listening to music. I have to hear it in-game before I download it.

And I don't get what you mean about that song. D: I've listened to it for hours before. It never gets old or annoying to me. If I can't listen to any other song, it'd be the one for me.

Edit: And if anyone finds a sound effect lacking copy of the Bowser Battle musics from Super Mario Galaxy, send me the link immediately. I can't wait until January for the soundtrack to be released. ;-;

I doubt that anybody has heard of it, but one of my favorite soundtracks is that of Advent Rising. The game itself didn't do so well, but Tommy Tallarico outdid himself with that music...To those who care, check it out ASAP!

Oh, and Nobuo Uematsu's Final Fantasy 8 soundtrack is otherworldly. No question about it.

I think it's a testament to the composer and the music if the music can stand alone without playing the game.

Not that all game music can. A lot of mine depends on remembering the level and nostalgia.

Oh, it's just because I heard the song so many times in the game because the Organization was so hard. D:

Maybe Lightning should send Shadow KH II: FM so he can actually fight them and stop breaking his policy of not listening to music from a game he hasn't played. @_@

<_< I've watched the videos of the fights as soon as they were available, so that counts for something...

She would if she'd actually beaten the game. D:

I broke my policy with that game too. DX I've listened to the complete OST but I haven't beaten Terra yet, so that last song I really shouldn't be listening to... but oh well. :x

any song from metroid prime. they are so mysterious. it has some calm music, but when you enter another room, it gets all fierce and dangerous, showing that there is an enemy nearby.

I'm currently addicted to Bowser Jr's giant robot themes from Galaxy. But I always try to listen to the Super Paper Mario credits once everyday.

The music from Eternal Sonata and Final Fantasy X is pretty good.

Surprisingly, the music from Pokemon Battle Revolution is also pretty nice, it fits the game well.

Legend of Zelda Games, and Banjo Kazooie.

Koji Kondo is genius. I love every tune from OoT, also orchestrated. I have many of those in my iPod. It one of the things that never let you down in a Zelda game.

As for B-K, the name of the composer(s) is still unknown to me, but people who have played that game will agree with me that no tunes fit better there than those fast banjo and flute led melodies. The intro to Tooie would be nothing without its music. Every melody fits greatly in its respective level. And it always keeps that comical feel.

Banjo-Kazooie's composer is Grant Kirkhope. The total length of the score is monstrous. The official CD is such a disappointment.

Gonna look for some of his music then, I think I knew him already... His name sounds familiar.

Thanks a bunch.

And yeah, I forgot to mention I love Mario Bros., which of course has great music too, mostly by Kondo aswell.

I have too many favorites to list but as of now, every boss battle from Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door os at the top of my list. And the two that top everything in that game are Doopliss Battle and Shadow Queen Battles. They are just awesome!

The music from Eternal Sonata and Final Fantasy X is pretty good.

Surprisingly, the music from Pokemon Battle Revolution is also pretty nice, it fits the game well.Well yeah the music in Eternal Sonata would be awesome! lol Isn't it a game based on Chopin? XD But yeah I've heard it and it is awesome...I think much better than any Final Fantasy game.

But...I'd have to say my favorite is the Legend of Zelda games...

Legend of Zelda games is an instant win. How could anyone NOT like them? That's why I can't wait until Brawl comes out so that I can listen to the full version of that Ocarina of Time medley! :D

I really like Kirby and Mario's music too. Animal Crossing has some pretty good K.K songs aswell.

Digimon World Dawn & Digimon World Dusk have a kickass boss theme! In Dawn, you first hear it against Aquilamon, but in Dusk, it's Raremon.

Nah, but the music from Fable is probably near the top.

I also like the main theme from Metal Gear Solid the music from God of War.

All of the music from Zelda: OoT. especially the song before you press start. Also, the Song of Storms is cool too. And the ocarina song you get for the water temple.

I don't really listen to many games, but one of my favorite songs is "Battle! Gym Leader" from Pokémon Gold and Silver. But in general I like Pokémon, Zelda and Mario music. Or most music, actually.

I don't know why Gold and Silver didn't see an official sound track release. Much better music than R/S and D/P.

Hmm... you people are so silly. Nobuo Uematsu owns the composing world as far as soundtracks go, no question. Your puny game music pales in comparison. *shot'ed for arrogance* Any game he works on, I'll play it purely for music value alone.

The real question here: Dancing Mad or One-Winged Angel, fellow Uematsu-lovers?

((Oh, one last thing: Soundtrack to Twilight Princess was definitely awesome as well, but I like Final Fantasy better than Zelda so it doesn't make absolute favorite. Close second, though. ;3)

"Forest Maze" - Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars.
"Original Mario Brothers Theme" - Super Mario Bros. 1

There are more, but I cannot come up with anything else for the moment.

I'd have to say Kingdom Hearts. Yoko Shimomura's music is absolutely amazing. My favorite tracks from all Kingdom Hearts games are Hand in Hand (RE: CoM version), Destiny's Force, Sinister Sundown, The 13th Reflection, The 13th Struggle, The Other Promise (absolutely amazing. <3), Naminé and Scythe of Petals. Rage Awakened, Forze Del Male are also amazing and Hollow Bastion shouldn't be forgotten either.

I also like Nobuo Uematsu and especially his compositions for Final Fantasy IX. Loss Of Me, You're Not Alone, Protecting My Devotion, Battle Theme (Final Fantasy IX), Hunter's Chance, The Man With the Machine Gun, One Winged Angel and J-E-N-O-V-A and Jenova Absolute are my favorite Final Fantasy tracks although he has also composed a lot more awesome music.
