Is PC getting to spammy?
I don't think so...but others may have a different opinion XP

Not at all, the only way PC would get spammy is if we didnt have an Elite System of Moderators, and we have that. So Without the Mods, PC would be a haven of Spam, but fortunately, it isnt :).

it does have SPAM, but it's minimal compare to the size of PC... I'll say it's adequate and safe to say "no SPAM" (we'll round down lol) ^_^

There is a good chunk of members who make replies that don't contribute much, even when they reach the 25 character limit. But the spamminess isn't that much of a problem most of the time.

...PokeCommunity has its own spam sessions..If one forum didn't have spam at all, it would probably be locked with administration capabiltiy and only a short range of IP's can appeal in certain discussions..
Back on PC, people bash and flame sometimes, and then some idiots come out of no where and back chat, which I think is unacceptable.

Well, its not bad.. I've seen far worse, but those forums literally spam on purpose XD.
Like the above members already stated, the spam volume is small compared to the total amount of posts in PC. But I WOULD like to see more quality posts around here, I mean I do read the posts here at PC, lol.

Oh no, i don't think PC is Spammy.
One reason i love PC so much is because things are much more relaxed here than many other Forums i've come across (Serebii for instance ._.)
We have plenty of responsible and hard working mods, and they definately do their job. What i mean is that the Mods here are kinder, more chilled out and they act more like any other member. They don't try and be superior or too bossy towards other members. We are more like a family at PC ;) PC's under controll, and if there is Spam ect. the mods will deal with it. Say for instance there's a topic and somebody replys with a very short post saying 'ditto' as in 'i agree' but its still over the minimum text limit, the person is not suddenly jumped on by mods. At some forums, things are so strict, the mods seem to think its alright to flame someone that spams. The Forum ends up more like School. Its like walking on egg shells when you post. PC is warm and friendly and we are not afraid to make shorter posts aslong as they have a point to them. So no, i don't think PC is spammy, apart from times when someone registers simply to spam, but then the mods deal with them. The spam count here is very small. PC rocks ^.~

No, we're not spammy at all if you ask me. I'm actually surprised at how little spam there is here, but it sure is good! And we don't even need to be strict and paranoid like (as Tatt mentioned) the serebii forums and some other forums I've been to...over there I didn't see much spam either, so their definition must be drastically different, otherwise it must be that any post made by a non-senior member constitutes spam...but here at PC we have no problem, and when we do the mods quickly dispatch of the spammer. And sometimes, it's just new kids who need to know what spam is as they may be spamming unintentionally. We have a couple of borderline spammers here, but they're only a minor annoyance and one that I'm more than willing to put up with them. I'm just glad we don't worry too much about it, we have the mindset that all forums should have: if spam comes, we deal with it and carry on. Some people worry about it too much.

In All fairness, we had a major major spam problem on SPP which is why we became strict like that but since its died down we've become more relaxed
And no offense but I have seen lots of spam here

I think that depends on your definition of Spam, Serebii -__-;
I don't see your mods becoming much nicer IMO. For example Ledian_X.
Sorry, but i don't think i'll ever change my opinion on your Forums.
This thread really shouldn't become a 'Your view on Serebii Forums' thread, because i'd be the cause of it, which would make me very embarrassed @@ Sorry guys.
So....*Gets back on topic*
No, we're not spammy at all if you ask me. I'm actually surprised at how little spam there is here, but it sure is good!
Nuff said Kaga ;) I agree with you. PC is not much of a target for Spam, from what we guys have seen. We are a happy n' clean forum most of the time =D

Well I think seeing something as spam or not is in the eye of the beholder. I mean see Joe here sees PC spammy since he is going by what he calls spam on SPPF not by what we call spam here on PC. Everyone knows SPPF's stand on spam (on their forums) so he is judges PC by what he is use to (I would do the say if I had a real large forum and came to another large forum). See most of the members that posted in this thread said PC is not spammy since they are use to PC and know the rules and stuff like that. But the only spam I see around PC is new members that didn't read the rules.
The way I look at it PC don't have spam, it's just we are not as strict as other forums. And I like it not as strict, I mean yes we go off topic but most of the time it's the members that sees that and then jumps back on topic (rarely staff members have to come in and say get back on topic). And also in a strict forum it also takes some fun out of a forum. I mean I would not like it if there was a Mod watching every post and when I get off topic that Mod jumps in and tells us to get right back on topic. Or calling every little thing spam. PC is not like that nor could I see PC like that.

No not really, i don't think its spammy, theres only a few pointless threads but there normally by newbies and they can't help it, if the mods direct them in the right place there won't be any spam!
Chairman Kaga
July 1st, 2004, 04:27 PM
Oh, and you're not the cause of it serebii, it's just the members that accuse me of being a spammer every time I go there, it just gets frustrating. I suppose I stay here instead of at the serebii forums because of that...

meh...I try as hard as possible to avoid talk of SPPF around here...
PC is definitely not the most spamtabulous forum I've seen. Heck, I was at one point an S-mod of the spammiest forum ever. I had to resign and quit that place because it was uber frustrating to deal with SPAM as the admin there had told us to, then I had an arguement wit the guy...but that is a different story. My point is that I've been to many different forums in my life, and I've been staff at just under half of them, and I can honestly say that PC is the easiest place when it comes to dealing with spammers.

lol seriously I see Serebii go online in PC as soon as someone mentions his forum here XD last time I talked about his pokedex once and he's online the next minute demanding an explanation lol!
now regarding new members and SPAM, there is really very little that one can do about it. If they refuse to read the rules and listen to others' advice, just what can you do about it anyway? Nothing much... but fortunately those people really don't tend to stay on PC for a long period of time.
However, Iveechan has once again made an important point... just becuase a post isn't SPAM that doesn't mean a post pacts information and is worth reading... -_-; Some posts are like 75 characters (3 times the size of minimum amount of characters) and it's still trash, yet not enough for it to be SPAM. That is perhaps quite annoying... as those members keep doing it because it's not enough for members around them to say "you should quit doing that as it's SPAM."
Another aspect of SPAM is CONSTANTLY forgotton in PC... a post that can be summed up to "I agree" or a post that's just the rewording of another post in the same thread is also SPAM. SPAMs on PC are generally this type of SPAM...

I personally don't think that PC is spammy. Sure, we have our moments when a new member comes and posts a lot of spam, but the threads usually always have nice posts. Like this one, for instance. None of the posts are spam; they all have a nice point.
Though, I guess that it could depend on what you consider spam, too. Some people may think that short posts are spam, while I think that as long as they have a point, then they're not. I would rather read a short post that made sense than a long one that didn't.

PC spammy? Don't make me laugh.
*laughs anyways*
For the sheer size of the forum, with like 2,000 posts a day (It think that's what Kwesi said) it's a miracle that this forum isn't full of SPAM. Especially considering that in general, most of the members are younger which in most places causes more SPAM. (No offence to the younger members of course)
I'm honesty quite surprised by the sheer amount of non-SPAM posts here. It's just... amazing... to see such a big forum be so SPAM-less.

i wouldent really say that this place has a lot of spam. Allthough if you look at things like the Crush topic and the Daily Chit Chat, they get off topic ALOT it will happen 4 or 5 times a day. Most of it though is people just going into harmelss Roleplaying but then again there is a section for that...But what do I know? I dont even really exist.

From my point of view, PC is moderatly spammy. Of course, what I call SPAM is really strict. Anything under 1 or 2 average sentances and anything that makes no point or the bulk of the post is off topic, I call SPAM. That is why I don't have a high post count because I follow my rules, not someone else's. But now I have less strict guidelines of what I call SPAM lately.

Not at all, but sometimes when people break the 25 char limit like "*kills 25 char limit*" or adding dots to posts. But the point is, we are getting only a bit stricter to get rid of those problems. Breaking the 25 char limit is not a very good thing because you are not trying to force yourself to post longer posts. ^_^

no point of longer post if the long post doesn't make sense... if a member succeeds in making some sense with a post less than 25 character (hard but not impossible), then I say that it's fine... o.o;
not all the threads have to be strict you know... leave a few out like the crush thread for people to relax a bit. Isn't that why people come on to PC, to have a place to chat with ease and comfortability? Rules should be kept to a minimum, and the amount of rules that we have is pretty good imho.

I don't think it's spammy, but Cas or whatever her name is at Pikasurf kicked me off the forums there because I made a fairly short post. In her PM she/he said: "You don't deserve to be here! You are a spammer! Go to pokecommunity, there's a lot of spammers there!"
And thus, I joined PC, which in my opinion, is perfect! Not spammy whatsoever.

Pikasurf is pretty strict, so we should all be grateful that PC doesn't put up oh so strict rules. Sure, its more controlled there, but its more fun here. ^_^
Cas kicked you out? Darn, that sucks. ><; She just errr, has a huge grudge against PC, I guess. X_x;; I find this place nice, its not so restricted, which its something I can't stand in forums. What's the point of a forum if all you're gonna do is be bossed around? @_@

lol...Who here hasn't been banned from Pikasurf before? Back when I first joined pikasurf, Cas asked if I could mod cuz she had someone tell her something good about me. She asked my moderating credentials (which by itself is wierd), and when I told her that I mod here. she said she can only offer me the Spam Forum there. I took that as a stinging insult towards PC and refused. I later got banned for something I didn't even do. O.o

Cas was the mod of PC's art forum, and she herself had a request thread that breached well over 60 pages (it was the biggest thread in PC to date). One day she got really mad at all the requests and decided to delete the entire thread, and then flame the PC mods and admins when they told her that what she did was wrong. She was eventually banned for flaming members and disrespecting forum staff.
Of course, I was a newbie when all this happened and I had no social roots in PC yet, so my view of the story may be off by a little...
