Is it possible to nickname pokemon obtained from events even though it has a different OT and ID #?
For example, if anyone got a Mew from the event on Sept. 30 2006, it has the OT MYSTRY and the ID 06930.
Can you nickname it? If so, will any pokemon obtained from "fateful encounters" be able to be nicknamed?
(Note: I did not get a Mew from that event, so I don't know. I haven't gotten anything from events. :( )

I know for a fact that no Pokemon's name can be changed if it doesn't match your ID and I'm pretty sure OT as well. But just to confirm that so no one flames and says how can I know without testing I just tested it with my Channel Jirachi and I couldn't change the nickname, so the answer unfortunately is no.

you've never been able to change the nicknames of any Pokemon that doesn't have your OT, ever since the beginning of the series. For example, in R/B/Y you couldn't rename the Pokemon you won from Stadium. You could do it with shadow Pokemon from XD though, within the game, because you caught them.

Nope, you cannot. Reason: See above posts for explanations.
