New Year’s Tournament

Welcome to the New Year’s Tournament! Zungie’s Christmas Clash inspired me to create this tournament. I will be using the same set-up that he has so that there won’t be a huge change between the two tournaments. The reason for this being posted so early is because we have to fill 32 spots by December 26th (the day after the Christmas Clash ends).

Rules

• Watch this thread attentively. Dates may change at any time without notice.
• Make sure that you have access to Wi-fi and provide your Friend Code either in your signature or your public profile (in other words, don’t just post it and expect people to go looking for it)
• Speak truthfully about wins and losses. If two competitors cannot agree, you will both be disqualified and the liar will have to deal with the guilt.
• Follow Clauses.
• Battles will take place as 6v6 Singles. Even Heats will be like this because 3v3 battles require no strategy.
• No battling others in this thread. Only post if you are in the tournament or are interested.
• Don't make posts saying "For the record, I PM'd my opponent." Those in my eyes are pointless posts and clutter up the thread. If you feel you really have to tell someone, PM me.

Clauses

• Hax Clause – No using the following items: Quick Claw, Bright Powder, Kings Rock, and similar effect items.
• Sleep Clause – Only one pokemon can be asleep on either side. Rest is the only exception which the user has brought about himself/herself.
• Evasiveness Clause – No using Minimize or Double Team.
• OHKO Clause – No using one hit knock out moves, such as: Fissure, Sheer Cold, Guillotine, and Horn Drill
• Hacked Pokemon Clause – No hacked pokemon. Self-explanatory.
• Uber Clause – No using ubers. A list of ubers: Mewtwo, Mew, Wobbuffet, Lugia, Ho-Oh, Latias, Latios, Kyogre, Groudon, Rayquaza, Deoxys (all forms), Dialga, Palkia, Giratina, Manaphy, Darkrai, Arceus
• Legendary Clause – I’m changing this one a bit, instead of no legendaries, you may have at max one legendary.

*Fun Day means you can challenge anyone you want in the thread. Since most people will be up until midnight, you should have fun battling. Also if you're fast enough, you can put together another pokemon or two to help your team if you've noticed weaknesses in it. Also if you weren't able to do your Final Four battle on the 30th, then that day is your chance to complete it.

Joining: For joining you get egg of your choice*
Quarter Finals: Egg Moved poke of your choice*
Semi-finalist: One EV-Trained pokemon of your choice
Final Four: Three EV-Trained pokemon of your choice
Second Place: A full team of EV-Trained pokemon of your choice.
Winner: A full team of EV-Trained pokemon of your choice with items for each pokemon of your choice.

*If someone could help provide these eggs that’d be helpful. I am not able to breed every single pokemon or egg move every single pokemon so I will need help if those who can make it that far get anything. Also you for the egg moved pokemon, you don't really get a "choice" I guess you could say. Our egg move breeders will give a list of what they have and then you can choose whichever one you want off that list.

Hahaha, yeah revealing teams can be a drawback, although those who visit the strategy area know my entire team/sets. xD You might want to get new pokemon. Go to the strategy area and go to the request a team thread (stickied). And request a team. If you have a specific pokemon you like a lot, you can ask them to center it around that one pokemon.

6v6 is really all I like to do, along with most battlers at PC so I decided it should be this way. Also they have to be singles. No doubles.

No they aren't. Here's my math/logic:

32/2= 16 16 make it to quarters.
16/2= 8 8 Make it to Semi-Finals
8/2= 4 4 Make it to Final Four
4/2=2 2 Make it to Finals
2/2=1 1 Wins.

I understand that they shouldn't be called Semi-finals, but they'll just stay that way.

Here's you task for normal egg breeding. Once 16 people fail out of the tournament (after the heats) they will post their scores (like 6-6 pokemon) and what pokemon they want as their breeded prize. So you can't start breeding until after the heats.
EDIT: This was confusing. I didn't know what I was trying to say. Just don't start breeding yet. I'll tell you when.

Another thing. The tournament will start on New Year's Day. This is for the reason that ABYAY said, and so people have more time to prepare teams. More spread out dates will make it easier to get battles in.

Another thing. I don't want people coming here say "For the record, I PM'd blah blah and he/she hasn't replied yet. What do I do?" I don't need to know that you PM'd them. You do that on your own, and if battle results aren't up by the last date of whatever round, the inactive member is knocked out of the tournament. If neither of the opponents reply in time, they are both knocked out. That will create an uneven bracket. But I have a solution for this. The person who lost a match with the closest match goes through. Let's say there was a battle and the final score was 6-0. Obviously the person with 6 goes on. And another match ended at 1-0. Since that match was closer, both of those two would go through. If this ends up happening, I'll explain further.

xD Yes, an entire month for this tournament, that's so nobody just drops out or anything. You have a week for each round except the finals, if those don't happen in the set time (which I just hope they will) I could extend it into February.

How about giving the participants the choice of whether they want their pokemon EV trained or not? I prefer to EV train my Pokemon myself, and I'm sure others do too.

The current prizes mean you have a hell of a lot of training to do, so asking the prize recipient if they want it EV trained or not will certainly cut your workload somewhat =)

Yes, burn multiplies your Pokemon's attack by 50%, thats why you should be able to predict one to switch into a Pokemon already afflicted with a status condition, Pokemon with Natural Cure, Pokemon with Flash Fire, Cleric the list goes on

And when you win/lose post the score like ABYAY did for us (3-0) that way if two people in the pair don't battle, we can keep the tournament from becoming uneven. (Like the closer the match, the more likely you'll have a chance of moving to the next round even if you lost)

Well, to be honest it's because you need to make an example. When you started the thread, you gave a list of times, if people couldn't be here at those times, they shouldn't have joined. If there is anyone that hasn't posted except their entry and still haven't battle, I think you should just leave them out of the tourney.

PlayaFritz, you move on because I know that you're trusty to be able to battle. Unless time zones get in the way, in which case we can try out hardest to mix up the match-ups.

Then of course after that a dc happened as usual in our battles. I still don't know the reasons of all those disconnections, I've battled about 6-7 people before that, and there were no disconnections whatsoever. I don't really think it's coming from my end. Anyways, you battled well.

Well, I finally may have figured ou teh problem. My Modem was kinda hanging out, so taht probably would have done it. With the Yanmega, it was probably casue I DC'd before you and it stopped on mine. Anyway gg, Im glad things worked out.
