Do you like Ash Ketchum?I personally don't because he thinks of winning all the time and assumes he does.

Actually I sort of hate Ash. seems he the protagonist of every series. except chronicles.
And I mean.... Sinnoh? Pikachu vs. Elekid should be easy!. its like pikachu was downgraded to level 5.
Wish Ash's Team of Johto. I think Gold or Silver or Red, Blue , Green can defeat him very easily.

hate ash can't stand him. winning battles only be the grace of the writers, who do a poor job at it as well.

He has no character flaws whatsoever. It annoys my inner fanfictionist.
Also he is generally annoying as hell.

I'd pick yes, but that'd only because he's so peppy, arrogant, and has that get-up-and-go personality gives me the potential to make him look like a bigger idiot in fanfics. Yes, I'm that kind of person. So I pick yes, because there's nothing more satisfying than seeing the main character look like a fool. Especially when he gives up at the PKMN League because he doesn't want to crush his friend's dreams with gis Uberchu.

Man so much haters. :3
I don't like his new voice, but I'm pretty accustomed to it now. 'sides, I think Rica Matsumoto PWNs both of them~ :3 -is shot by the dub lovers-
Anyways, I've always loved him. He was after all, my first bishie...even though I didn't know what bishie was at the time. :3 I always talked about him during book shares in elementary since I got them books. xD (Which I can't find.)
He's just so loveable. He's brave and would do anything for his friend.

Hmm... At the beginning (8 years ago), I liked him but over the time I began to hate him more and more.
Mostly because of his new voice (yes, in Germany he got a new voice as well) and dunno... He acts more stupidly than ages ago. Or I simply didn't notice he was stupid at all in former times.

Ah, yes, I forgot about his new voice...it's awful. xD I've found that most dubbed cartoons have awful voices...lol. Although I did like his original voice...Misty's was okay and I liked Brock's.

Ash just got a little confident, and that's why he always acts like a worry-free trainer. That's what I like, and if he looses, he just accepts defeat (except if he got beaten by his rivals, especially Paul), and just train more.
But the voice change really killed nearly half of my love towards POKéMON. Darn it! I was really angry when their voices had changed. -_-
Conclusion, I still like Ash as the way he is now, caring and confident, and dumb :P

Hes pretty good. But like his pokemon got weaker when he went to Sinnoh.
He should also have more new friends or VISIT the ones he fought from last time.
Thgat dude is not a man of his word.
dickheads i swear.

I didn't like Ash when the series began because I loved Misty and Ash was very big headed to me for some reason. As the series have progressed I have grown to like him more.

I like Ash a lot better than before. I used to be neutral about him but now his new outfit (which looks GREAT) and ComaShipping has made me like him a bit
I dont think he's hot though. Cute, maybe but not hot, so dont think of me as an Ash fangirl. I'm ok with Shinji being Ash's lover though 8D

He's stupid, careless, cliched, and only wins because of dumb luck. He seems to forget everything, including promises made and the people and Pokemon he keeps leaving behind. The 'good guy always wins' mentality is complete ****. The writers don't give him any real flaws, and in that, he's flawed.

But you just said he was stupid and careless XD But perfect. But he loses. But he wins with some good strategies. The last 2 gym battles were good. Confused!
I like his new voice better actually. He sounds older. I saw a clip with Ash with his Sinnoh clothes but they put his old voice over it. It didn't look right at all. He sounded WAY too young for how he looked. His voice by Advanced Battle was rather annoying, I thought. I don't know what it was though. But yeah, Rica Matsumoto is best as Ash. And she sings some of the openings too! How cool

Stupidity's not an interesting character flaw. It's ****ing annoying. And his carelessness never gets him into any real trouble. It's just there for comic relief and so they can have him be the hero.

Meh, I guess he's okay. I just don't like the way he's so respectful in the movies xD It seriously gets annoying.

I like Satoshi especially when he utters dumb things. Spoilers Like when he wished Nozomi good luck on her contest and he forgot to say that to Hikari and he was so embarrassed. Nozomi pointed that out too.

Yeah, well he can only carry six pokemon, and if he kept the ones he had, there would be whiners out there that would say "Why can't he catch some new Pokemon?!"

You said flaw. Not interesting flaw. lol. He doesn't seem stupid except from not recognising Team Rocket, the funny not recognising love gag and when the writers make him "forget" that certain moves don't effect some types. Other than that, he's not really stupid. They do keep getting back the recklessness thing when they feel like it, last time that happened he got posessed, so yeah.

Well, he has that hot-headed streak once in awhile, and he actually does get into trouble due to rashness and not thinking over things carefully. Those are the flaws he has, but they're obviously occasionally shown. If a character had too many flaws it wouldn't be nice to watch him or her either.

Ash is alright, the only problem is the show has gone on so long that it doesn't make much sense to see Ash losing to weaker trainers.
It doesn't help matters that Pikachu gets weaker at the start of every region either.

come on guys, give Ash a break. I like him, he was my childhood hero, lol. I mean arent we all sort of arrogant and pointed towards winning. And plus, If Ash didnt win his battles, the TV show would go no where.

Maybe not stupid, just not smart enough. I would never forget type advantages and battle strategies. I also wouldn't forget that a few months ago I was nearly frozen to death by an Articuno. Every time he battles, he seems to have this moment of realization when he figures out to beat the opponent and it's usually a strategy he's used before. The whole not getting love and not recognizing Team Rocket thing is getting old too. Every time he sees them, he's like "TEAM ROCKET! You're up to no good!" Well, duh. Idiot. Like I said, it's mostly his clueless attitude.

No...he's too perfect (and I mean that in the worst way possible). Known in the writers world as a Mary-Sue/Gary-Stu. IMO There's no flaws to his character accept that he forgets stuff when starting at each new region, but the writers do that on purpose so its not really his fault. I cant really like a character that one ends up being unintentionally jealous of.

I hate Ash with a passion. For some guy that's suppose to be a master he can't even win in the Sinnoh. He's had more losses than victories.

January 6th, 2008, 04:49 PM
What really is there to LIKE about him? He's just another uber-Gary-Stu-idiot character who somehow always wins with the unevolved starters, a Pikachu, and a couple other random Pokemon. And when he doesn't win, it's stupid because if his Pikachu was in the video game, it would be Lv.100 if not somehow past that. <ash uses cheating devices??> The only reason he's so "good" at battles and is so "heroic" is because he's a character on a show made for kids. Kids don't want to see a real stratagist when they can see a guy that miraculously pulls off victories with his team of unrealisticly-uber-powerful, super-cute Pokemon. Ash is the very reason I gave up on watching the animie, and now only watch it to mute and make fun of it sometimes. And, his voice is more terrible than ever now.

I liked him better in the first series. He's not a terrible character but he's such a glory-hog.
It just gets on my nerves when he can just say "I believe in you!" and his Pokemon can shake off almost any attack and how he can win a Pokeringer contest on his first try(just because his Pokemon "conveniently" evolves just in time) >.>
He is the main character though so it makes sense to an extent... Besides he's a really loyal friend :3
