hi guys, can you help me with my team for FireRed? I'm not sure if mine is good enough..... (I'm trying out new Pokes that I otherwise wouldn't generally use, so bear with me!)

Blastoise
Surf, Bite, Earthquake, Hydro Cannon
Kangaskhan
Cut, Rock Slide, Solarbeam, Ariel Ace
Arcanine
Flamethrower, Fire Blast, Dig, Strength
Gengar
Psychic, Shadow Ball, Giga Drain, Hypnosis
Poliwrath
Blizzard, Ice beam, Hydro pump, brick Break
Muk
Thunder, Thunderbolt, Sludge Bomb, Rock smash

I definitely want to keep blastoise (and probably gengar and poliwrath) but especially kangaskhan i'm not so sure about....

...any ideas?

Never have two moves of the same type on the same pokemon, it significantly reduces coverage.

You need some walls (Pokemon with very high defences and HP)

Im no expert on 3rd gen, so i wont suggest anything more than the obvious

so (assuming i keep those six guys) should i switch attacks around so muk has thunder and arcanine has thunderbolt and stuff?

Like i said, Im no expert on 3rd gen. Most teams will usually have coverage for physical and special pokemon, but being third gen all electric are special, all fighting are physical and so on. I have no idea about who should have what, all I know is that having 2 of the same type on a pokemon is a waste of its potential.

This page might have some good movesets for some of your pokes, check it out.

www.smogon.com

It has movesets and is generally more reliable than Serebii.

ok thanks

also, if anyone can give me some pokes that go well with blastoise, that'd be great! (movesets would be good to, thanks everybody!)

Good old 3rd Generation. There han't been an ADV team around here for ages. But this one, no offense, just plain sucks. First, I'll fix up those movesets.

Blastoise @ Leftovers
Trait: Torrent
EVs: 252 HP / 128 Def / 128 SDef
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Surf
- Rapid Spin
- Rest / Roar
- Ice Beam / Counter / Mirror Coat

Kangaskhan @ Leftovers / Choice Band
Trait: Early Bird
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Substitute / Rock Slide
- Focus Punch / Aerial Ace
- Double-Edge
- Shadow Ball / Rock Slide

For this, run lefties with subpunch, or CB with all-out attacking. It can also make good use of rest.

Arcanine @ Leftovers
Trait: Flash Fire / Intimidate
EVs: 128 Atk / 252 Spd / 128 SAtk
Rash / Naive Nature
- Flamethrower
- Extremespeed
- Crunch
- Hidden Power [Fighting]

That was a random moveset...really, Arcanine has the movepool of a tree.

Gengar @ Leftovers
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Spd / 252 SAtk
Timid Natuere (+Spd, -Atk)
- Thunderbolt
- Ice Punch
- Giga Drain / Fire Punch / Psychic
- Hypnosis

Poliwrath @ Leftovers
Trait: Water Absorb
EVs: 252 HP / 128 Atk / 128 Def
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Brick Break
- Bulk Up
- Hypnosis / Substitute
- Hidden Power [Rock / Bug]

After my failure at making a moveset for arcanine, I'm not even going to try one for Muk.

The EVs have been pretty simplified since it seems you are new to the whole competitive battling scene.

no offense taken

thanks very much

......but doesn't hidden power's type sort of depend on the types of the pokemon involved, or something?

It depends on the Pokemon's IVs. Test it by battling a Kecleon.
