I decided that I need a new sweeper. A strong, powerful, versitile sweeper. I've decided to try a personal fav: Tarous! I must thank Ooka for his love of cows.

Tarous@Choice Band/Scarf
Nature:Adamant/Jolly
Stone Edge
Earthquake
Return
Pursiut

Now, here are a few problems.

Should I go with Band & use Jolly nature to comprimise for lack of power? Or Scarf & Adamant to comprimise for reduced SPD?

Also, which ability should I run? Intimidate is always useful, but damn, Anger Point! I mean, come on. That just sounds useful! Unfortunately, he might not survive to use it. Despite some pretty surprising defenses (95 is pretty good), he might not survive the critical to use the max ATK boost.

It's spelled "Tauros" :P

Well, it's always been a favorite of mine and one of the few pokemon I haven't really tried out this gen. Still, it was quite the beastly CBer in ADV, despite seeing limited used, so here goes:

Tauros (M) @ Choice Band
Trait: Intimidate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Earthquake
- Double-Edge / Return
- Stone Edge
- Sleep Talk / Zen Headbutt / Pursuit

You'd be amazed at what this thing outspeeds. But man, Bronzong toasts this thing...:(

And seriously, choice item users have to switch in and out of things all the time. With Intimidate, you're only increasing your chances of doing that with success. Jolly allows you to reach 350 speed, which is quite a lot.

Choice band set looks good, it gets a speed tie with gengar which is surprising.

There is an anger point set ive really wanted to try.

Tauros@Leichi Berry
Jolly Nature
Trait : Anger point
252 ATT / 252 SPEED / 6 HP
- Substitute
- Stone Edge
- Earthquake
- Return

Idea here is to send it in on something that dies to it. Set a sub up on the switch and try and get hit with a critical hit through a sub as it still activates the ability. Leichi berry is there if you fail to activate Anger Point and it activated also with the sub.

Choice Band Tauros is a beast though, it was one of the most dominant pokemon in the 1st gen but then came skarmory in the 2nd gen and made it almost unusable.

Thank goodness it got stone edge this gen though, it made its movepool so much better.

Skarm didn't make it unusable, it was just the perfect counter :(

Tauros can make quick work of many pokemon...more than it gets credit for. And the speed tie with gengar is just lol...but tauros can switch in on shadow ball, which I find amusing. It can't counter Gar by any means, but the specs version gets really annoyed by that and you can pursuit it to it ghostly grave :P

Ah, no specs gimmicks. I hate that set.

But the only thing he wishes he had was an Ice move, like Ice Shard. Oh well. I must get a Garchomp counter.

And that would be bulky Gyarados whom counters garchomp, just watch out for stone edges from scarf chomp and the like.

Thats what those 100 speed evs are for on bulkydos, to outrun Jolly max speed Garchomp after a single Dragon Dance ;)

You can even shove Ice Fang on Gyarados if you wish to spite Garchomp even further.

CB tauros rocks. and intimidate plz. if you had my luck, then anger point would come in handy only if something weak like rapid spin/knock off gets a crit and doesn't OHKO tauros.

shame that bronzong walls this guy =/

No, he means Specsgar stuck on Shadow Ball.

I remember the last time I faced a Tauros. I critted it, Anger Point activated, Salac activated, killed my Claydol. I was stalling by switching until I realized I could beat it with Shedinja. xD

If you worry of a Bronzong or Skarmory, just drop Jolly for Hasty and use Fire Blast in the last slot.

I'm in the midst of breeding a Tauros myself actually. I was thinking maybe a Life Orb set could be viable?

Tauros' Special Attack is stinky. :(

If you want Tauros to rampage, stick Magnezone in the team :D Just pray that Bronzong doesn't have EQ ._.

Thanks for all the help guys. Here are a few comments on your comments:

@DarkAzelf: He iis actually replacing Gya.

@Samson: So Intimidate it is.

@Gecko:Meh, I have others to take it out those two pokes

@Loquacity:Seems like a plan. But the ScarfBand was to make up for the power/speed neglection from using Adamant/Jolly. But Jolly with Orb seems nice.

@Shirosashi:When I have the time.

Seriously, Fire blast does nothing coming from this guy. It's a waste...

Life Orb is decent on it is you hate choice sets, but that is what tauros seems to do best is CB. IMO.

CB double Edges HURT.

If Tauros grabs hold of a Petaya Berry boost from a BPer and is Specsed it can do some damage. Heehee, I love that set. I see no EVs, but I guess they go without saying. Hmm, you could toss Double Edge in over Return, like Anti said, it HURTS

I forget to say, the reason I called this thread "interesting" is because I have this plan:

Would Gyarados prosper from Substitute? I mean, "Bulkydos"?

Well no not really tbh cutting your hp seems unnecessary , unless you run a "Flail-Dos" where sub would be to activate Leichi/Salac Berry.

Sub, protecting it from status and allowing it to take a free hit, definately has its advantages.

Taunt already protects it from status :/

sub... interesting. skarmory and the bunch still come in and phaze the guy w/o taunt, so that's quite pointless.

Well Bulkydos with Sub... hmmm... It could work, I guess.
