Hey, just wondering: if I'm playing Gamecube games on a Wii, will the Wii controllers work for it, or do I need the Gamecube controllers? I'm thinking of getting Super Smash Bros. Melee, Tales of Symphonia, or Wind Waker, since I just got a Wii and want some GC games.

I think I'm a bit late on this, but you need a GameCube controller to play GC games on your Wii.

GameCube games can only be played with the GameCube controller.
Wii games primarily use the remote and nunchuck. A few games have GCN controller compatibility - but very few.
Certain controllers can be used on certain Virtual Console games. It varies. Generally though, a remote and a GCN controller should render the classic controller extension useless.
