I don't see how that's a re-invention? There's more to reinventing a series or character than changing or updating the graphical style.
The latest Spyro games are all part of a new reimagining of the series to bring it new life. Prince of Persia and what they're trying to do with Sonic are good examples. In film, the latest Bond and Batman films are excellent examples.
In Brawl, Zelda is almost identical to her appearance in Twilight Princess - and I wouldn't consider that game a re-invention or re-imagining of any kind.

I don't really mind a lot myself.
Sometimes, the same game character gets old for me, and looking at fanart which reinterprets the character is quite refreshing.
Now, take the fanart, make it official, and I'm a happy person.

I like it, Solid Snake is a good example, he's changed a LOT since Metal Gear.
And Big Boss, from MGS3 to MG1 he changes a lot, along with the graphic novel style of MPO's cut scenes.
For Zelda, a real change would of being from Wind Waker to TP.

Sweeties, can we say Megaman/Rockman? XD
He's been re-invented so many times, first with original, then X, then some spinoffs, then...I kinda got lost after that. I know it's a different Megaman in each series, but still.
Oh, speaking of Capcom, another good one is Resident Evil 2 to Resident Evil 4. Besides how the character and graphics changed, the entire game play was different compare to the other Resident Evil games.

The transition to The Wind Waker was big for the Zelda series, and Resident Evil 4 was going on revolutionary too, with it's different perspective. It's strange seeing Princess Zelda with darker hair, I wonder what made them change it? ".

It's like when they changed Link's hair from blonde to brown because upto Wind Waker he had blonde hair and then in Twilight Princess and beyond he has brownish hair but the blonde hair has returned in Phantom Hourglass.

I think that's because with Twilight Princess they were aiming for more realistic graphics, so rather than giving him bright blonde hair, they toned it down a bit.

He had brown hair in two other games too. I think it was the original and link to the past.

He had brown hair in the first two games, and then in Link to the Past he had Pink hair! :surprised:

Only in his sprite, the offical art I have is blonde iirc, but yes, it is the first two games he has brown hair.
