Both. Although Contests I enjoy watching far more.

I like both, but I'd go with an intense battle done well than contests though.

I like both too. Ash's battles are still great but some Contest battles are really good.

May Vs. Drew in the Kanto Grand Festival is one of the best battles we've seen, and that's a Contest battle.

Contests all the way. I mean contests have battles too. Also contests are really fun to watch.

EDIT: I suppose both, because like I said, Contests have intense battles and they are the icing on the contest cake.

i like both because they both utilize a pokemons ability but use them in two very diffrent ways. battles are intense and awsome and contests show of a pokemon's asthetic beauty and grace. i show dogs and go to dog shows and its alot like contests without the fancy attacks. and battles remind me of wrestling/boxing/robot wars matches so its awsome. but yea like them both equally.

I like both, but contests are more fun for me to watch. They're both a battle and a beauty contest at the same time. It isn't only about kicking the c**p out of the other Pokemon. XD

Besides May and Dawn are two of my favorite chars, so I like watching their matches more than Ash's.
