I thought i would revieve this as the last one was closed.

To answer the question, I would like a remake because it was a great game with an exciting plot and lots of great pokemon. But I'm guessing it would have little problems such as wheter they should include new evoulotions that are there now, Such as Ambipom.

The only reason the did the remake of Red/Green to the GBA becasue they must have planned it out back then that Diamond and Pearl on Nintendo DS could use GBA games and take Pokemon from Pal Park with Ruby/Sapphire FireRed/LeagGreen and Emerald. So what would the point of remake of Gold and Silver? It would be cool yes..but we just have to wait and see. I would like more info of Game 3 on Gen 4 cos' will this be the last game or are they going to do more like Gen 5 Pokemon??

I agree with ~KiTsUnE.
They don't need to have a reason to do it.. It's nintendo :P
Do they have a reason to make two version of the same game? (Diamond/Pearl) NO
Do we need a third game that has useless extras? NO

Yet, nintendo does it :D

acctually, I think they did it to force you to either spend a lot of money, or Socialize with other people...

Game 3, I dunno.......

but yeah, DC, you have a point.

Yes, a remake would not be needed, but who can really say that they would hate a remake if it was announced tommorow.

Generation II is the best out of all four (in my honest opinion ._.). Now imagine strolling through Johto (and an extremely disfigured Kanto) with DS graphics and mechanics.

I hope Kanto is a bit less... Dead. I mean it's fair enough that the Safari zone is closed, I accept that. What I DO NOT like is how short Rock Tunnel and Mt Moon were (Although I loved Mt Moon square) and I also despised how Viridian Forest was gone.

Here my answers =

Do they have a reason to make two version of the same game? (Diamond/Pearl) YES Why do have Different Pokemon in each game as they have done from Red and Blue to make you trade, for Diamond and Perl Exclusives, makes sense

Do we need a third game that has useless extras? Just for people who are new to the game when thats released like with Yellow/Crystal and Emerald

It's a marketing technique Nintendo uses to gain more $$$$.

According to PokeBeach, a Beckett (I think) magazine said something about the release of Pokemon Platinum. Since it's an unofficial source, who knows if it's really true? They also don't know if it will be the Y/C/E of D/P or G/S remake... or another game entirey (hopefully not). Platinum is a metal, so it very likely could be a G/S remake, but it's odd how it's just 1 game (they normally come in twos).

Well, according to Wikipedia/Bulbapedia, many other nonofficial sources and ~KiTsUnE's amazing statement:

They have put Johto data in the D/P games and I've tried(as I bet many other have) to put my Pokemon Crystal in my DS, but it doesn't fit. So...less we just imagine they put Johto in there to be caca, there has to be something being cooked up.

Not only that...there are so many clues to support it within Diamond and Pearl.

Why was Jasmine necessary? She gave us Waterfall...why? So she can make an appearence, that's why! And she tells you, you should visit her Region someday.

Not only that, they speak of Professor Elm a lot, when it comes to Egg research.

Then a big clue in my eyes, is the readdition of the Day/Night system.

There are so many clues to support it and make this little dream become a reality. I think we may have to start believing Johto will be remade with D/P graphics! ^_^

And you know this how?

Well, that's the question in'it? They'll make a Yellow/Crystal/Emerald version of Diamond and Pearl, most likely called Quartz, and then they will move onto fifth generation, and a remake will never happen for G/S/C.

Doubtful. The remake could end up being just another way to get the Pokemon not on the Dex of Diamond/Pearl. If someone jumps in, and wants to catch all their own Pokemon, but doesn't have access to Gen 3, then GSDS would supply a good number of those Pokemon.

No.

That's a GREAT response. Someone points out that Nintendo has VERY clearly included data that points to a remake and has no reason to be there UNLESS a remake is planned, and your only response is no.

Nice, logical post... If only Nintendo were nice and logical.

When it comes to milking cash cows, they don't seem to be amateurs.

I concur, if only Nintendo did too.

I'm also in agreement.

a remake will never happen for G/S/C.
Please do not make biased assumptions. There is no evidence to disprove this theory regarding a remake and you know it. Nintendo has a marketing method of releasing multiple versions of the same game to score more cash. In addition, they have a pattern of releasing remakes shortly after the new generation.

Also, the Johto data is probably enough evidence by itself if one has common sense. Why would Nintendo waste their time programming locational data?

No.
This a great example of an unintelligent response toward a factual explanation. Don't bother rejecting one's standpoint on the issue when you can't provide mature replies.

Until Nintendo release an offical document, nothing is proven.
We are still free to make reasonable speculations toward the potential G/S/C remake, however.

There is a simple answer:

You cannot assume that they will make a remake.
But you cannot assume that they wont.

There are two sides to this whole thread, that means, it could go on forever.

I hate to break it to you guys, but the only pokemon that aren't available in DP are the Previous Starters and Legendaries. This is not to say there will not be a remake as I am hopeful that they will, but No-one can be certain.

This may be slightly off-topic, but I just thought of an awesome idea. FRLG was based after RBY, right? So if Nintendo remade a new Johto/Kanto game, then they could implement the following feature:
Have the games based at the same time, so when the new game has been finished, you can merge the save files or something similar, so you can freely roam between the two games, changing cartridges when necessary. This is a pretty elaborate idea, but it would be really cool if it works.

I found this in Pokesav:

-Johto was one of the location names a Pokemon can coem from (Found next to Kanto, Hoenn, and "Distant Land"[aka Orre])

They're listed on the Game of origin:
-Ruby Hoenn
-Sapphire Hoenn
-Emerald Hoenn
-FireRed Kanto
-LeafGreen Kanto
-Colo/XD (Orre)

And TWO Johtos, which are listed as Johto(Gold) and Johto(Silver)

EDIT:
From what Bulbapedia says, Nintendo has copyrighted the names Pokemon DuskGold and Pokemon DawnSilver
(Other game names were copyrighted before Emerald being announced, which included Emerald itself, were Amythist, WhiteGold, Opal, and two other ones I can't remember)

IIRC, the Japanese name for "White Gold" does not make any reference to gold. White Gold is basically the common English name for the metal.

I KNOW it's going to be DuskGold and DawnSilver. They're the only copyrighted names that make sense in both English AND Japanese.

Also:

Pokemon Diamond and Pokemon Pearl were copyrighted at the same time as Emerald, Whitegold, Amethist, and Opal. DuskGold and DawnSilver were copyrighteed later on.

D/P does NOT take place after GSC.

Yes that is true.
I don't see how Nintendo and GAMEFREAK can't re-make it.
There are so many hints in D/P,
That they almost have to make it.
Also they already copyrighted Dawn Silver and Dusk Gold.

Oh,
I heard the third D/P game will be called Beryl.
Beryl is a Yellow-ish colored "Rock".
Similar to the colors on Girantina...
I'm pretty sure we all know that Girantina will be the Token POKEMON on the third D/P game whatever it may be called.

I sure hope they re-make G/S!
I'm pretty sure Crystal'll never get re-made.
I'm not too sad about that either.

All of the clues are coming together now.
Why would GF and Nintendo Copyright names that could go with G/S Re-makes?
Why would they bother to code JOHTO data into D/P format?
Why would they make so many hints in D/P?

To me all of that leads to a re-make.
I hope I'm right!

release dates (USA) according to <<serebii.net>>
(flashback)
RB Sept 28 1998
Y Oct 1999
GS Oct 15 2000
C July 29 2001
RS March 17 2003
FRLG Sept 9 2004
E April 2005
DP April 22 2007

predictions?
GS(C) take place three years after the events of RB(Y) in the game, but are just only just over two years apart release time in real life.

possible Y/C/E release for DP, if going by how they released Emerald, should come out AFTER a re-release of GS (if it happens at all)

Long Live GSDS!

"Johto" is in the coding for one of the locations that a Pokemon can come from

"Sinnoh", interestingly, is also a location, even though the game takes place in the region, which means a specific spot is listed ("Route 203", "Spear Pillar", ect.) rather than the region name.

Also in the coding for the games in which a Pokemon can Originate From, there's these:
Hoenn (Ruby)
Hoenn (Sapphire)
Hoenn (Emerald)
Kanto (FireRed)
Kanto (Leaf Green)
Sinnoh (Diamond)
Sinnoh (Pearl)
Orre (Colosiem/XD)
Johto ("DuskGold")
Johto ("DawnSilver")

Interestinly, there is no Third Sinnoh. Most likey like Emerald, it won't be a Game of Origin Possibiliy for any of the games other than itself. (I hope I worded that in a non-confusing way)

Theres a program that allows you to change stuff like where you can get a Pokemon's location. I forget what it's called though...
Anyways, on the list you can change it so that Pokemon can appear like they came from Johto.

These are the only ones I remember:
Pokemon Opal
Pokemon Amethyst
Pokemon WhiteGold
Pokemon Moonstone(The actual stone, not the Pokemon item) - I just remembered this one
Pokemon DuskGold
Pokemon DawnSilver

I don't have a link, sorry :/

All of these, save DuskGold and DawnSilver, were copyrighted during the development of Emerald, along with Emerald itself, Diamond, and Pearl.

DuskGold and DawnSilver?

Thats pretty stupid.

Why cant they just keep the names Silver and Gold?

Probably to distinguish between the orignals and the remakes. Much as FireRed compared to Red Version.

I kind of like the names, personally and they hold some value as it says on Bulbapedia. Dusk being linked with the Tin tower where Pokemon come to die and Dawn being linked with the Brass tower where Pokemon are born. It's very logical, I suppose that's why I like it.

I hope they keep the PokeGear if they remakes these games, because I think that's where Pokemon G/S/C really shined. Could be the reason I really like Emerald version with the inclusion of the Match Call system. Haha! ^_^

:surprised:

Kinda. But at least it pertained to the mascot of the game.

DuskGold and DawnSilver doesn't exactly.

Wouldn't it make more sense to call them Silver Dusk and Gold Dawn or something?

Since Gold is more of a morning color, and Silver the evening?

Like the title screens for the old games.

Sunsets usually have Golden Skies, While Mornings (After the Sun Rises) have a Silver feel to them.

I'm getting DawnSilver, because I have Silver and prefer it over Gold.

What about everyone else?

Bill having to fix the time capsule in Ecruteak in G/S/C could be easily changed to allow trading with D/P instead of back in time, since Pal Park accomplishes pretty much the same thing.

...God i hope it won't require the nationaldex to trade with D/P... if they remake G/S.

But that makes sense...Giving people the ability to import all of their Super Sinnoh Pokemon almost from the beginning just sounds ridiculous.

There is a reason for the nat'l dex you know, besides having the ability to register all the Pokemon you catch.

Except, they would have a really bad time with that, seeing as a Lvl 70 Dialga wouldn't listen to a trainer just leaving New Bark anyways. Allowing trade with D/P from Ecruteak on sounds pretty reasonable, and even then, they'll still have to send in Pokemon UNDER level 40 (I think...). Ok, so you can get a really nicely bred Pokemon, with some awesome moves, but you could just do the same thing trading in Johto/Kanto Pokemon from another copy of the G/S remakes as well.

Or you could just wait until you beat the Pokemon League like a player who wants to take his time and not rush through everything. Plus, the Time Machine may be replaced with some other device, since it would serve no purpose.

I don't want a remake of Gold, Silver, or Crystal. I hate it when they remake old classics and try to make them different and whatever, because the classics are just better naturally. I would like them to put the old versions perhaps on DS without modifications (except maybe modifying the connection system to Wi-Fi or something so people can battle) but I doubt that's going to happen. T_T

I'd still play it if they remade it, though, just because it was such a great game, but the older versions on gameboy color will forever be my favorites.

Nintendo didn't change a thing for the most part when they made Firered and Leafgreen, and the Sevii Islands were a welcomed addition. They probably won't change anything, but only add more to make the games themselves better. Having the exact same thing would be boring as hell.

In response to pretty much all of the above...

1) how did someone (whoever first found it out) find out what names are copyrighted? is there a link?

2) remakes are NEVER as good as the originals. As for the Pokemon R/B/Y/G/S/C games, they stopped manufacturing them YEARS ago, so unless you bought one or two, you're out of luck.
reliable, used games are getting sparse. the batteries started dying so we really can't play them anymore, unless you get an emulator, but that's just as bad as not having the original.

i think nintendo would be foolish and borderline hypocritical in terms of why they do the things they do if they DIDN'T remake G/S.
they'd remake it because it would SELL, like everything else they make. not because it's necessary. i hate them enough for adding at least one UNOBTAINABLE pokemon in each generation.

"gotta catch 'em all" should entail even the possibilty that one can, indeed, catch them all, and i don't mean they were wrong in splitting the games into two's and having the trading capabilities. Such was the charm of pokemon!
but still,
mew should have been available legitimately (as well as celebi, jirachi, etc.)
no glitches
no nintendo events.
no cheat codes.
just hunt like mad and, hopefully, catch them.
heck, i'd have preferred it to be hard as hell to find and catch the darn things... at least they would be obtainable IN THE GAME! you would feel a bigger sense of accomplishment upon "beating the game"
it's all one big frustrating way to keep making money off of us, and it's pretty sleazy marketing...
... because, as for now, i can only beat the game if the nintendo high priests let me.

whew!

that's my one bane when it comes to pokemon

Sigh, I hope they put the POKéGear on the Touch screen if the remake it, but I'm not sure why.

I had a major problem with FRLG's National dex. I usually have to catch around 46 POKéMON after I beat it, so I hope they do it like Emerald:just beating the game earns it.

They'd probably replace the Time Machine with a Pal Park-ish thing, that won't allow Hoenn POKéMON to come through.

Johto was the best generation. Full stop. I would LOVE a remake.

I just hope the Elite four are a lot stronger. I mean I remember the highest level Pokémon in the league being something like level 54-60. The first of the elite four was using Pokémon stronger than that' chronologically three years prior!

Plus Kanto could be a whole lot different in a possible remake. Hopefully Safari Zone and Viridian Forest will not have been shut down/cut down. I'd also like to see more Kanto related side quests, like something to do with Cinnabar erupting or the Berserk Gene/Cerulean Cave. [Imagine Erupted Cinnabar's graphics on the DS <3]

Also I've been thinking. Johto LOCATION data has been found in DP... But has anybody found anything on Generation II exclusive items such as the Apricorns/Apricorn Balls or things like the Berserk Gene? They would have to have item images and data in DP for if they're traded over

Pokémon Gold and Silver remakes

It is popularly believed that remakes of the Generation II games, Pokémon Gold and Silver, will be produced for Generation IV on the DS.

Generation III

Soon after the release of Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen on the Game Boy Advance, the remakes of the original Game Boy games, Pokémon Red and Green, many began to expect similar remakes of Gold and Silver. Rumors and theories that spread around Internet forums were unsubstantiated. Fans attempted several remakes of the games (such as ShinyGold made by Zel at PokéCommunity, and Pokémon Crystal Aurora made by Nekomata Yôkai at the PCA Forums, still in progress). On April Fool's Day 2004, PKMN.NET created some doctored screenshots, presenting them as legitimate and crediting them to CoroCoro comics. The image depicts the daycare on Route 34.

Generation IV

With the release of Diamond and Pearl and the start of Generation IV, it was now believed the remakes were going to be for the Nintendo DS. Unlike the Generation III era, however, several key pieces of evidence existed, such as a news report on the red Gyarados, Jasmine's appearance in Sunyshore City, the mention of Professor Elm's report about eggs, Cynthia's SecretPotion (which, in its in-bag description, mentions Cianwood City), the Gold and Silver Cards in Pokémon Battle Revolution, and the Park Balls, which are gold and silver in color, with a light blue band across their middle. The definite clue is, however, hidden in-game data that shows the games have the ability to trade with Johto-based games.
Recently, a fake CoroCoro scan has been spread; it erroneously refers to Professor Elm (Japanese: ウツギ博士 Dr. Utsugi) as Professor Rowan (Japanese: ナナカマド博士 Dr. Nanakamado).
Some fans also reason that because the Generation IV games happen contemporaneously with Generation II (according to several references like the "Search for the Red Gyarados" that airs at the start of the game), Gold and Silver will be remade, as the same thing happened with the Generation I games, which Generation III was revealed to be contemporaneous with.
As a side-note, when presented with Oak's Letter, Prof. Oak sates that the White Rock in Sinnoh has a counterpart in Kanto. In previous generations, no such rock has been seen. As Kanto was in Gold and Silver, Kanto's White Rock could be a Generation IV addition that would appear in a remake.
Since Nintendo took the incentive to copyright DuskGold and DawnSilver, it shows they might be considering a remake. DuskGold and DawnSilver seem appropriate, as they have similar meanings to the Ecruteak Towers. The Tin Tower is where Pokémon come to pass on (as dusk is the end of the day) and the Brass Tower is where Pokémon were born (as dawn is the beginning of the day).

I hope they make the graphics better than on D/P like they did from R/S/E to FR/LG -

did anyone SERIOUSLY like yellow?
i mean, it was a hype when it came out because it was the first actual SEQUEL but...
i personally liked Ruby and Sapphire better than yellow.
just my opinion.
the graphics in yellow were far from improved and the whole surfing pikachu was just... annoying.
basically, starting with pikachu was annoying.
and all the original starters were just GIVEN to you... no fun there.

i'm glad they only remade red and blue (leafgreen being, essentially, a blue remake)
again, just one man's opinion.

who knows if they'll even keep apricorns in a GS remake? they have to revamp all the "fruit-bearing" trees anyway. they've made GIII and GIV pokeball equivalents to the apricorn balls anyway, except for the moon ball, fast ball, and level ball (though a nest ball may SORT of act like a level ball)
IDK
i wouldn't be too broken up if they got rid of or replaced apricorns with something else.

also, all this talk about there being "no need to remake GS because all pokemon are already obtainable," is true, but it would be easier to trade between DS games than to snag and purify them on the gamecube game, transfer to a GIII game, pal park them into DP/GS, and then catch them.

i wish they kept connectivity between the games that NEED it to get version exclusives... except for pal park, which rocks.
that was the beauty and simplicity of RB(Y)... everything was obtainable between those games inclusively.
you could get hard to obtain pkmn through stadium, but it wasn't necessary...
does that make sense? i hope so!

I thought the whole idea of getting Pikachu as a Starter and the Anime like qualities to be pretty sahweet. Also, most of the games that are the third of the series aren't graphically better. Crystal and Emerald only added storylines, they didn't add anything graphically, same goes with Yellow. Just added new systems and caca like that.

Anyways, it would make sense, if we used FireRed and LeafGreen as an example, that Crystal won't be remade, even though...I kind of dug that whole Suicuine(Sp?) storyline.

They'll just stick with Gold/Silver and just add something new at the end as to not damage the original setup of the game, as with the Sevii Islands in FireRed/LeafGreen. Even though...I was so pumped up, because I thought we were going to be able to visit Johto in those games. Haha! So when I got the ability to go to the Sevii Islands, I was all like, "...no." and I stopped playing.

[...]

Well that's not true. The sprites of yellow are very improved. And chrystal first had animations.

I'll agree to that. It did animate it's Pokemon Sprites and it did look a bit more crisp. But I meant that it didn't go leaps and bounds over the originals, graphically, like it did with its new systems and storyline improvements. ^_^

did anyone SERIOUSLY like yellow?

also, all this talk about there being "no need to remake GS because all pokemon are already obtainable," is true, but it would be easier to trade between DS games than to snag and purify them on the gamecube game, transfer to a GIII game, pal park them into DP/GS, and then catch them.

firstly, i liked yellow cuz pikachu actually said his name. lol

and secondly, not only would it be easier to get nessecary pokemon, but the G/S/C versions were the best in MY opinion.

I really want remake to improve on the weakest parts of GS. Like Kanto... Kanto was a wreak in GS... all of the changes were for the worst. :( And of course under-leveled trainers made the game too easy. :/
Speaking of remakes... Pulseman really needs one!, even more than GS!. :O

Since more than likely if they remake GS, how do you think they'd add the Sevii Islands and Nat. Dex into it? That'd be interesting.

Also, I'm sorry, but they aren't going to change plot details like the safari zone/viridian Forest. Sad, yes, true, also yes.

I just thought about something... Wi-Fi compatibility! A GTS thing could replace the time machine, that'd be smart. I'd also like Silver to get stronger and battle you in the Sevii Islands. Definitly a second wave for the E4. Lets see... POKeGear on the touchscreen... And some sidequest to add DP Connectivity.

Also, they need to increase the E4's levels. They took them down by 2 in FRLG, so maybe up by two in GSDS...? Umm... evolution similar to FRLG's, it won't evolve until post-nat. dex.

Contests on the Sevii Islands, super or otherwise. Running shoes, and DP's bike.

Haha, that sounded like an in your face comment. ^_^ Not saying it was, just that it sounded like one.

Anyways, I doubt they'll also have the Sevii Islands in the GS Remakes, they'll probably just do something new. Maybe the Battle Frontier or go crazy and actually make Sinnoh available, since both games take place simultanteously. But then again...I'm not GameFreak or Nintendo...so, maybe the Sevii Islands will be included, who really knows?

They'd more than likely add Safari Zone than add the Sevii islands to be honest. :/

Plus as Chatot said, there was going to be a Safari Zone in GS, bust for some unknown reason they scrapped it. Probably due to technical limitations. I mean there was probably more on them GBC carts than on most GBA carts :/

Wow these are vrey nice ideas.

1. Yeah the E4 should get National Pokémon after you have beaten the game
and hopefully got the ND.

2. Oh yeah very nice idea, too. PokeGear on touhscreen. Thath would be very comfotable.

3. E4 leveling up. I remember the first one (Will?!?) has a Xatu Lv.42 first and his strongest was 45, right? Don't know exactly. They should be a little SG like. Not too overpowered but not too underpowred. And so +2 would be less...I suggest +10 by all ^^. Like Lorelei. She has a Dewong lv. 53!?! so the E4 of Johto needs to pumped up. (Actually it's the E4 in Kanto of Johto)

4.They would include a Johto Dex first I think so the most Pokémon would be included at the beginning. Maybe they replace/add some Hoenn + Sinnoh Pokémon to the JD.

I'm telling you, give those Johto Elite Four Cynthia training.

It is ridiculous how Aaron's bugs clock in at 49-52 and you get to Cynthia who I believed had a Lvl. 70(or at least a mid-60). O_o That was awesome to me. I never saw the fact they'd get that much stronger, it was great and challenging.

They wouldn't take away mah radio! Of course, if the POKéGear was on the touch screen it'd need more than Phone, Map, Raido and Time/Date.

E4 will probably remain the same for the first time round, then get dramatically slightly tougher depending on in-game achievements and side quests or something :/

A remake of those would be soooo awesome! Gold/Silver/Crystal are the best versions ever made! They have the best starter pokemon and the cutest pokemon and there are 2 regions instead of 1. In Ruby/Saphire there should have been a Johto and Kanto region as well as Hoenn (sp?) so it would be like a remake oh those 2 regions.

I believe that there is going to be a remake soon, because Diamond and Pearl are full of references to Johto. They wouldn't be referencing Johto so much in the game if they are not going to remake it. They know that it is in high demand, and they know that they can make loads of money off of it. It either could be a remake coming soon, like in 09 or 2010. I say 2010, if there is a remake, because Japan will get it way before us, and we will suffer and envy them as they play their G/S remake. There is always that possiblilty that they can be teasing us.

Well... Rumor does not equal fact people.

As much as everyone and their Monkey wants Gold and Silver to be remade... Why do you want it to be remade? So you can get a Shiny Gyarados? Yay? Gold and Silver were good, but they weren't THAT good, I mean really, if I have to work for several hours to raise my level 40 something Pokemon on level twenty freaking seven Pokemon in the last town to prepare for the last Gym... there is something wrong with that picture... Atleast in Red/Yellow/Blue there are areas you can train on higher level Pokemon, heck you can even go to part of the road to the Pokemon league and battle level 40's...

I like Gold and Silver as much as the next person, but I liked RYB a lot better simply because it seemed more professional and harder, Gold and Silver just got pathetically easy after I gained a brain on how to train my Pokemon, if they do remake Gold and Silver they better not make it even easier...

Rumors are hardly even slightly right, it's more like a hopeful wish... I doubt we're getting any remakes and if we do, I'm not going to up and buy it as soon as it comes out, it wont be worth it, Gold and Silver were their own magic, a remake would just be like any other Pokemon game, same sprites in both versions and the same ol' thing.

I always hated how you could go to Lake of Rage and to make sure your Pokemon wouldn't be totally dominated they made the levels super low...

SonicJump
February 16th, 2008, 02:20 PM
Remakes are definately made for those who played them religiously in the past like big fans like me. Why wouldn't they make it?

I don't mind if it had the same EXACT storyline or anything. I'd still love it. It all depends on where you're coming from and I really enjoy turning up old memories. I'd like to be sitting there in the iced-over cave on the way to the last gym and say "I remember when I was 10 and I got through this, I was out on the swing with my little brother, great times."

Pokémon is truly sentimental to me and I'd hate to see the older generations and their games fade away!

It almost seems like now-a-days the Pokémon games are nothing but competitions and people are missing the true essence of the game. people are too worried about how many shinies they have or who has the absolute best stats. When you were young, did you care? Or did you play to play and enjoy every minute of it?

Ask yourself if great memories are going to be more important to you when you're 80 years old recollecting on the past, or will the 20 shinies you spent hours looking for and really had not much to show for it?

I'd personally care more about great memories. But, then again, great memories might be catching shinies to some people so who knows! =P

Ohhh, I miss the old days too, stealing pokemon cards from the kid behind me, looking at the same 150 pokemon over and over wishing for a mew, worshiping the bird trio and mewtwo, collecting pokemon cards, playing without worrying about stats and EVs. Those truly were the days. Anyway, the part of DuskGold and DawnSilver being officially Nintendos titles promises it to me!

That's the main argument for a remake, all the references, but these could easily just be easter eggs to those who played the most forgotten generation. I still think and hope there will be a remake, but you can't say that on references.

well the pictures of the chickoritas on bulbabpedia really get me believing in the remakes! (that or there are some really horrible-mean hackers out there...):

Horrible Mean Hackers :P

I've asked some my Japanese and Korean contacts if say have seen anything, and they said they are in the same boat as us.

I'm pretty sure a G/S remake is on the way. Who doesn't want an easier way to get Ho-oh and Lugia? Anyway if the make a remake they have to do the following things:

-Make the game harder! G/S is the easiest of all the main Pokemon games. Especially Kanto (lol my lvl 50s against your lvl 30s!) The only challenging fight in the game is against Red.
-Make the game longer. G/S was probably the shortest game in the series.
-Make Johto a little bit bigger.
-Make Kanto a lot less pathetic. Include all dungeons (or at least make the dungeons not be 3 screens long) that where taken out of the original G/S.
-Do not remove the feature to catch both Ho-oh and Lugia.
-Include the PokeBalls Kurt (Fast Ball ftw) makes and the ones from GBA and DP.
-Online PokeGear capabilities.
-Trainer Hall in Viridian still there.
-Safari Zone!

I loved GSC! Also, they probably will make a remake because it will most likely appeal to the younger age groups who werent around for the original GSC. I mean, the younger age group never got to see Johto, so now would be the perfect time because DP raked in a lot of little kids.( I know that might have been a little confusing o.0)

Can I ask something,
why does everyone want a remake so bad? Isn't it going to be the same?
Do you guys play for the graphics :S?. If you wanted something different, download a hack.
If you want to play a G/S game, get a Gold or Silver game!
there wouldn't be much difference in the remake so whats the point?

Alot of old fans like me remember how fun Gold and Silver was back in the day, so that's one reason. Another reason is the fact that they would add more gameplay and functions to it, and maybe give us the possibility to finally receive Celebi legally without buying a Jap. Colo Disc or getting one from the 10th Anniv. Event.

You could say the same for FR/LG, but they made it.

Not to mention that by now the majority of the internal batteries have run dry. And a remake is a chance to fix what [little] was broken and add extras that would be widely welcomed and appreciated.

Well according to some in D/P theres in game location data that shows its possible to trade with a possible G/S/C remake. So its probable that a G/S/C remake will exist. But theres only way to find out if said data is real... RIP OPEN A D/P ROM AND CONFIRM THE EXISTANCE OF SAID DATA

I would buy a G/S/C remake for many reasons.

1. I loved them so...
2. They developed many great Pokemon.
3. It's hard to obtain said Pokemon.. so I would love to just trade over to my Diamond.
4. The Cyndaquil Evolution chain....
5. The ability to go into 2 different regions.
6. I loved the story line.
7. My Gold internal battery ran dry years ago and.. sadly enough, my Crystal just ran dry yesterday. All I have left from that gen is a Silver version that I bought used, I highly doubt that it will last very long.

Oh, and to those that say "Go buy another game..", all the ones that are left are used. They won't last 5 weeks.

You've seen the screenshots of Pokemon Diamond where you could make it say Johto right? That's proof enough :/

They could be edited images, I believe they're real as I know someone who uses Pokésav and has Pokémon with 'Johto' as a captured location. -_-

Wow just saw this and I say that they will make a G/S remake. Along with that the Y/C/E for D/P will come out a year after. And then that is it for pokemon in my opinion. Why? Cause what next a 5th generation remake of Hoenn? The most retarted region of them all. Sorry for that but I have an idea that if nintedo could do it it would be great. D/P came withy connection with R/S/FR/LG/E to trade pokemon but what kind of connection with them will DS/DG(dawn silver/dusk gold as we are all knowing it as)have? If they do make it why did they release FR/LG? The biggest point of G/S was being able to go back to Kanto. So what I'm trying to say is that my heory is simple. Have FR/LG in the gba slot and play the gba version in DS style or do the same thing with R/S/E(bhopefully not for hoenn games). You have heard my opinion theory and would like to be critisized for this!!!

I loved playing Gold and Silver when I had them.

I would like to see a remake but there are some things that would need improving, like slightly longer route/dungeon length.

Even though you could go to Kanto in G/S, the region was somewhat different, no?

Yeah but still it was different but not that much. And I also got another reason for this. The hero in R/B/Y was the final hardest trainer right? So what better way then be able to battle your Hall of Fame from FR/LG as Red your character form those two. You know same team altered with some changes same name and that is it really. Confusing I know but damn cool if it happens. Oh also forgot to say. The kanto leaders say how good your battles were from FR/LG and how cool was the last pokemon you used. Nice or wht?

I thought a remake would be suitable for gen 5, as remakes for gen 1 was made in gen 3. We can still get Johto Pokemon without trading from the actual games.

Well because it wasnt the best pkm game

-(Blue/Red were The best.but they had bad
graphics and were outdated that's
why they made a remake for them.)

But g/s already had ok graphics and alot of stuff in it.
So I think that people could just play the original G/S.

but everybody has different opinions, so dont start hating on me:D

The reason most people DONT play the old G/S/C games is because they don't work anymore. The internal battery usual runs out in most of the cartridges (happened twice to me).

Plus most people would like Johto pokemon on their D/P, and don't say just play Colosseum or XD beccause the Gamecube is practically dead on most of us don't feel like beating the game to get a certain pokemon.

According to PokeBeach, a Beckett (I think) magazine said something about the release of Pokemon Platinum. Since it's an unofficial source, who knows if it's really true? They also don't know if it will be the Y/C/E of D/P or G/S remake... or another game entirey (hopefully not). Platinum is a metal, so it very likely could be a G/S remake, but it's odd how it's just 1 game (they normally come in twos).

there is a Platnum version, and it is a G/S/C Remake pm me because I cant post urls yet. Or look at my sig.

No its a fan game.
Anyway theory time!!!(don't know why I post this as people tend to ignore me).
Nintendo my a copyright for 5 poke-game names right? Two of those we know where they are going. Three acually. Dusk gold, dawn silver, and opal. The 4th one gets to me: White Gold. Gold isn't white is it? Or is it?! Hmhm anyway my theory is will nintendo release both remakes of gold or remakes of silver. What they can't with dusk gold taking up the name for gold is probably what your thinking right know but listen. Dusk gold could be the silver remake and white gold could be the gold remake. stupid I know but whatt can we do

No, because there are people in the world who conjure up fake images just to get our hopes up and make us angry in the end. We can confirm the existance of said data we just need someone to rip open a D/P ROM to see if the said data actually exists...

The 4th one gets to me: White Gold. Gold isn't white is it? Or is it?!

White gold is an alloy which is gold mixed with either silver, nickel, platnium (a silvery metal which is more valuable) or palladium (another precious metal which is a family member of platnium)... So maybe a Pokemon WhiteGold could be a Gold/Silver remake with Pokes of both versions combined into one.

I have done it myself in Pokesav, it works just as the screenshots show.
I understand your stance on not believing until said evidence is shown, but you've seen the screenshots, and they are not fake.
