The manga is way better.
Heh, the anime is neat. It has a lot of fun points and some things I don't care for as much. I like the silly things, especially; like the Warehouse 13 and the Bachelor Lieutenant episode. The characters are fun...I'm not sure who my favourite it. Perhaps Hayate. Such a good dog. <3
It's a fun show, but I honestly think the manga is a much better read and more in-depth. It's to be expected, since it's coming from Arakawa herself, and it's certainly at an interesting point right now. =p

The manga is at 78 chapters and going strong. You can only read up to 15th volume (Chapter #64) in the official English release, but a little snooping can get you the newer chapters pretty quickly. (hagaren_manga at LJ will usually have a link. Sites such as ZOMGFTA, One Manga, and Read Manga are good places to look, as well.)
I'd read up as much of it as you can -- there are quite a lot of differences in some places. :3

Well, the effects of music, voice, and such are absent, of course, so there is a different pull on the reader, but I know a couple people who shed a tear or two on some parts.

I read the first volume yesterday. I noticed that Maes Hughes wasn't on the train and Lust killed Cornello =S So i guess its different. Well i might go pickup up volume 2 sometime tomorrow.
