Yeah, I know it's just what it says in the Pokedex on Serebii.

Does anyone know how to change the position of a sprite forever after setting a flag? It'll probably be a level script which I am really unfamiliar with.

Beats are released after a minimum of 5 to 10 towns/cities. So edit your first post.

I like this hack you've certainly mapped it well but it's quite bland. The storyline is simple and straightforward, i like a long and twisted storyline with everything and anything in it, it's just that much more exicting. The way i look at the Mapping its got 4 cities, 3 routes and 1 Mountain, don't you think thats a bit short? All in all i love the mapping, it is obvious you are talented so maybe you're focusing too much on it, you should get a storyline editor (i can help with that) and your hack should get better. Anyway good luck with your hack.

Thats only the very beginning of the story, it'll get better later on. And the stuff I've got on status is just for the pre-beta. The final version will have probably 10 towns and much more other stuff.

I don't actually have a team yet, it's just me doing everything at the moment. In the first post i've written what kind of people I need to help me though.

Well, i'm fine with the two major things scripting and mapping so it's not too bad but i'm waiting on a few pm's from people who could be in my team.

Well, i've got quite a bit done in fact i've done everything up to Latim City's scripting done. But Latim City is HUGE so it might take a couple of days. I've got many events, including meeting your dad at the national library and getting the Cut HM. I re-did Route 2 and 3 due to too much forced grass-walking, scripted the first appearance of Ruby & Sapphire (two new rivals) and edited all the trainers.

EDIT:
Also the reason that the story seems short and bland is becuase I don't want to reveal the whole thing, in fact I shouldn't have even said that your father is trying to awaken Arceus. That was supposed to be the big twist near the end.

Instead of always battling Teams you are battling your Father, even though he's the leader in R/S/E, this is way different and way better!

Thats just a mock up, needs to be refined a bit, the colours are gonna be different too. It was made by Pearlone13 from PHO so all the credit goes to him.

EDIT:
The new sprites probably won't be in the pre-beta nor will Latim City, it's just too huge. So pre-beta is coming as soon as I figure out how to remove sprites after finishing a script forever.

Nice, I like what I see so far but you could use some pal edits/new tiles and probably some new OW's. Its looking good, but I don't think the story is that good. I would like to see some screens of scripts. Ohwell....good luck!

Sorry to say, but that sprite is from PokeCharms.com in their Trainer Card maker. I don't think that your spriter made it unless he's from PokeCharms.

3 scripting problems I can see:

The far right fossil case in the museam gives you 8 ?????? items.
I walked into Ivy's gym, walked out, and now I can't get back in.
The policeman doesn't stop you from going to Felridge Canyon.

Other than that, pretty good. Hooray for Mareep as a starter!

I like your game, the scripting events are cool.
And so are the starters, you wouldn't beleive i used them same starters in an old hack that crashed hehe there great starters, BUT i stopped playing at...Felridge City, Is it?...Because I don't think this should of been released yet, it's a little rushed.

The movement permissions aren't right either.

Also, you didn't edit any of the people and what they say, one said something about Brock (i doubt he's still a gym leader)
Route 1 is ok, but not great. The whole route is pretty much a bridge.

Damn! I fixed all these problems a while ago when I was learning how to do level scripts. I guess I must have forgotten to backup and erased them when my rom crashed. Oh well they're not too hard to fix. About the weird tiles I'm not sure why that is but it probably is your rom since no one else has reported it and I have no idea why the nickname thing happens. I also don't really like the bridge idea either, I'll either make it so you have to surf or make a boat script and have Verasa be an island.

@itman1234: What movement permissions do you mean?

I hate the starters mainly because they aren't that strong.
Spheal just sucks, there's nothing else to it.
Trapinch levels up soooooo slowly.
Mareep is actually a good starter, the only one worth picking.

As for the weird tiles, i think it was my ROM (even though i made sure it was clean, i probably just did something wrong, you should check it yourself.

when you lose to the gym, the girl blocking it says, "wow!you beat the gym leader great!
I didn't even get a badge...

I found another glitch (too lazy to put picture.)

After you talk to the girl and go in the gym, when you go out of the gym, you will walk on her head.

The reason it's impassable is because there are trees and a PC there. It probably is just your rom because something that blatant would have been reported before. I chose those starters because their types are equally balanced, I was really sick of seeing the same original starters too.

Ugh.... This hack is soooooo glitchy. Where to begin?

Well, some text goes off the screen, the makuhita at the start is black, the text before the battle with your rival is wierd, the characters in the scripts walk really slow, In felridge city, you can walk through some of the trees, the police officer lets you pass even if you didn't get the badge, the girl infront of the gym won't let you in the gym, there are some tile errors on route 1 (mainly along the dock), your mom does not have walking sprites, so it looks like she floats. And what made me quit playing it? I walked pass a sign in felridge canyon... AND THE GAME FROZE!!!!!!!!

I still think this hack has potential, but you just need to fix it up a little and it will be fine.

Yeah, i've fixed all the glitches and I put Arceus in Armaldo's position.

You need some new tiles, but the maps look nice :)
Loganmaster1234 is putting in a whole bunch of tiles for me at the moment, but there are is alot so it'll take some time.

I've done a lot mapping-wise, but scripting the national library is taking a long time.

EDIT: Oh, and i've also made the starting screen, I'll make a video of it soon.

hello
im playing pokemon genesis, and i went inside brock's gym
i went out and outside, the girl's script was kind of weird and she wouldn't let me go back inside
also the guy in ash's home town, outside the houses, doesn't talk when you try to talk to him
when i also talked with the guy and he said did you see the museum, i said no and he went through the pokemart and trees and through the gym. he then stopped and left, and i couldn't move anywhere
i also talked with the policeman near the canyon, and he let me pass, even though i didn't beat the gym leader
and why is there brock?
isn't ivy the gym leader
can anyone help me with these problems please?

Ok, well I've got a lot done. I've inserted Giratina, Gible, Gabite and Garchomp. I've completely redone the first town, route 1 and the third town and I've started the mapping of the first versions of 3 other towns. I've got an idea I'd like feedback on; I want to make it so that the decisions you make in the game impact the ending so you can either side with your father or the people opposing your father. It would pretty much just happen with yes/no boxes and special flags say about 5-10 that are set or cleared depending on the event. The first opportunity you will get to affect this will be in Latim City when you see your father and someone comes looking for him, you can either help them or lie. It won't change the major part of the game, ie you can become the champion no matter what but the way major people (ie. rivals, elite 4, prof. oak) will perceive you will change.

I've fixed all the glitches except the nickname one it still dosn't work (i've used namepokemon and raw values)

Why is the FRLG guy and Gary and POSSIBLY the FRLG Girl still there?
I havn't even released a beta yet. I'm still working on the sprites. It says on the first post in status that i'm working on graphical stuff atm.

Anyway since I probably won't be able to do anything today I thought I would show what I've been doing so far.

Credits to Fanking Omega for the house, kyledove for the tree and Christos for the grass (ripped from his rom base). Not much, right? Well I seriously considered for a while starting again on Ruby but it would take too long and the benefits of Ruby aren't enough to shadow the work it would take to get back to what I'm up to.

EDIT: There is a small error in the house you probably won't notice that needs to be fixed but thats easy.

i just want to say that when you fight the hicker near the max ether in the first cave, his script suddenly turns into symbols when you fight his first geodude
it's not really a major thing, but it was kind of weird
i just want to say that the pre beta is really fun!

I've fixed all the glitches except the nickname one it still dosn't work (i've used namepokemon and raw values)


I havn't even released a beta yet. I'm still working on the sprites. It says on the first post in status that i'm working on graphical stuff atm.

Anyway since I probably won't be able to do anything today I thought I would show what I've been doing so far.

Credits to Fanking Omega for the house, kyledove for the tree and Christos for the grass (ripped from his rom base). Not much, right? Well I seriously considered for a while starting again on Ruby but it would take too long and the benefits of Ruby aren't enough to shadow the work it would take to get back to what I'm up to.

EDIT: There is a small error in the house you probably won't notice that needs to be fixed but thats easy.

I actually do see the "error", its barely anything though...

I played the revised one, and its a lot better without those glitches, good luck!

About the revised one... At the starting town, the fat guy won't talk at all... :\

Also, there's a tile error on the route North from the first town...

Also, there's a movement error in the second town near where the PLAYER thinks "(Wait... What about dad's PARCEL?)"...
And the person who sells those LAVA COOKIES are facing all around while having a conversation with me...

I've got an idea I'd like feedback on; I want to make it so that the decisions you make in the game impact the ending so you can either side with your father or the people opposing your father. It would pretty much just happen with yes/no boxes and special flags say about 5-10 that are set or cleared depending on the event. The first opportunity you will get to affect this will be in Latim City when you see your father and someone comes looking for him, you can either help them or lie. It won't change the major part of the game, ie you can become the champion no matter what but the way major people (ie. rivals, elite 4, prof. oak) will perceive you will change.

I think this idea would innovate, and it would be very pleasant to play. Like, I would for certainly play two times only to see two different finals, or, at least, some changes in the game.
But, you'll have to explain that this would happen in the game. Like, how someone would know that there are more than one possible finals? It would lack a replay factor, thinking in that.

And, yeah, make it a minor big change!

Yes, wooden houses because Felridge is a naturey town. You might be thinking "that pallete doesn't look right", well you're wrong it's supposed to look like that. Once again credits to Fanking Omega for the house tiles. I've changed my mind about the grass I'm keeping the good old FR ones. Hmm... what else? Oh, I'm inserting D/P legendaries (that are relevant to the game) over Lati@s and fossil Pokemon, everyother D/P will go in the ??? slots after Celebi. The reason the updates are so limited is because I have work on Thursday, Friday and Saturday all till 9 and I get pretty tired. I'll get tons more done this week though.

About the changing legendary pokemon. A big part of the Legend Of Arceus (for my game) is that one of his creations, Giratina hates Arceus and wants to overthrow him. So that basically means that Giratina is the evil legendary in this so I might do something like Giratina helping you depending on your decisions but it'll take some time to think over.

EDIT: Oh, I almost forgot I'm working on the Latim City tileset which is taking forever due to the national library. Think of the Silph Co. building (how hard it would be to insert) x2. But it'll definitely be worth it in the end.

Thanks, I'm not sure what the movement error you're talking about is but I'll check it out. The lava cookies guy was only meant to be a preview. After certain events you can buy different stuff from him so he won't be in the game till the final release. The tile error shouldn't be a problem now since I've completely re-done the first route (unless it's a levelscript or something). The fat guy was just an oversight, I used him for a lot of experiments with scripts so I guess i must have just forgot.

Rock Tomb is wrong but since it's pre-beta I didn't feel like changing it cos it would mean digging through hex which I hate. I've completly re-done Felridge too so once again won't be a problem. The rival thing with the Oak script is an oddity it only happens when you hit the 'A' button before rival can finish his movement (although I'm sure I had a pausemove in there, I'll have to check). And I've fixed the walking on water thing.

Hmm, well you're right it would take a long time but if I really wanted I guess I could just use Kyledove's tiles. BUT it would look really inconsistent and the PC, Gym and Mart are in pretty much every town so they need to be easily distinguishable so I probably won't.

The Latim tileset is a b*****. It's taken nearly 6 hours now and I'm still not done. I've got everything inserted I just need to fine tune it and modify the palletes. Oh and there's this really weird problem with the door which I can't figure out.

EDIT: All right, here it is. 7 hours worth of work (mostly because I made so many mistakes).

I haven't done the icons of any of them because I really hate icon editing, I'll leave that for just before I release beta 1. I also haven't done the stat/attack editing which I will leave till Darthatron releases a stable beta of his Pokemon Editor. I'm also gonna De-Capitilize the attacks and items. I'm not sure how long I should make the beta. I was thinking of 5 towns. Is that too long or short or about right?

Haha, yeah that took soooo long though, it's the first time I've ever tile inserted so I made a lot of mistakes. It's good to see that at least one person noticed though. Thanks!

EDIT: Could I get some feedback on the trees? On PHO a couple of people have said they don't like it. I personally think they look awesome.

Definately one of the more professional hacks around right now ;) . The mapping is good, the gameplay is good and it all seems very polished. The only things that need changing are the story (far too simple) and those weird trees (they seem ugly and out of place, in my opinion). Still, this looks like a GREAT hack :D .

your main rival and Ivy's OW are edited.)
I suggest you to do Trainer Text Editing first, because if you change it, it will look less FR feel. You know that everyone does not like a Hack that has FR feel, right?
Then you do OW editing, since the Heroes, the main Rival and Ivy's OW is still from FR.
You'll also need to change the trees.
That's all the suggestions I have.

Nah, I want it to be plain like the heroine sprite. I tried adding bag straps to it but it didn't come out too well, but I'm starting to like it more and more.

Well, its good to hear that your hack is running smoothly.
As for the people who are just there, I would just make them say something about the town, instead of just "Hey, what's up?" since that's really boring.

I wish you'd take some time to at least alter some of the trainer dialogue... Its somewhat disconcerting to be told by a Lass that route 4 is at the base of Mt. Moon. :P

One question: Did you alter when Mareep evolves? Mine didn't evolve until level 18. Wondered if it was a glitch, or intentional. If its intentional, does Ampharos evolve at a different level too?

Serebii says they evolve at 15, and I also have memories of having mine evolve at level 15 before.

I actually like the FRLG look, I have made some changes in the way of palletes. For example the trees are brighter and there is a greater contrast in the flowers.

Yeah it has been changed. This is because Trapinch and Spheal evolve way later on so I had to compromise and make them all evolve at 18. They evolve again at 36. Their movesets are different too but I will have to change that because I was a little biased to the Trapinch line. Also I'm going to change everyones text just before releasing Milestone 1 as it says in Status.

Also, I'm not sure if anyone noticed but I've added a lot more screens in the first post. They go all the way to Temshore City.

So I've been finalizing the beta, there are really no bugs (that I know of) in the game now, except for the nickname thing. Mostly I've been touching up things here and there. Anyway heres a small preview of what is to come:

Right now I'm just doing all the scripts in the hack, I'm up to Latim City and I've done all the OW's outside and 3 houses, I still need to do 5 more houses and all the scripts in the National Library... after that just a few more scripts til Temshore City which is the end of the beta. Yes there will only be 2 gyms but Temshore and Verasa won't have Gyms, so thats 4 towns in the beta. It will however be quite long I think because of the difficulty level.

On a side note, I just realised that the sprites head seems too big for its body and the OW looks like Kakashi from Naruto. I'd like to get some feedback if possible about it, also it is a water-type gym (obviously) but the sprite suggests it is steel type doesn't it?

I know, its gonna be so awesome. I'm gonna buy an XBOX 360 just so I can play it.

Well beta 1 is almost here, if you look in the Status part of my first post, I have only a few more things to do. I have about 3 scripts to do in Latim City, a whole bunch in the National Library but most is just text and trainerbattles so it won't take too long. The D/P Pokemon are in the beta but you can't get any. You will however see 1 D/P Pokemon, but that will be in a battle. The Trainer Card sprites are already done as you can see in the first post, I've also got some of the OW sprites done, I only need to do the girl and the boy's running sprites. This all means that if I have the motivation, and if nothing major happens, and the testing is done in time, you can expect a beta by this week. One last thing, here is a few screenies of Miriam's Berry Shop, I don't know why, but I felt like putting one in, so here it is:

Beta 1 is available for download now in the first post. It is completely different from the preBeta in fact every map and script has either been completely remade or edited. So go check it out! I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

You can't get any D/P Pokemon but you will see one in a battle. Also, both videos are available now.

EDIT: Haha, just realised I didn't really say anything about the beta. It's pretty long, its got 7 routes, 2 mountains/caves, 4 city's and probably over 50 houses. There are also a bunch of side quests some you won't be able to complete fully. There are two gyms but there are a ton of trainers, if you battle every trainer, I'm fairly certain you can get 3 Pokemon to lvl40 so yeah there are a lot of trainers. Also the trainers are harder and have a more diverse range of Pokemon compared to FR/LG/R/S/E etc. Pleas report any bugs/glitches you find even if its small like 1 tile you can move on or text going out of the box. Also I'm sorry to say the OWs are not in the beta, the OWs I've made so far don't look very good and I'm not the best spriter so I want to take my time with them.

Those bits and the original tiles are about the only things that are the same, the storyline is much darker and will force you to make decisions based on your morals. I won't be changing the tiles but I will be adding tiles which have a FR/LG look made by Fanking Omega. The Oak dialog will stay the same I think theres really no need to change it, the sprites will be made and inserted eventually but as I have already said I'm not the best spriter so it'll take me a long time to do.

I think it looks neat, and it looks like you guys are progressing nicely.

I've re-uploaded the new beta.

I really don't know what to say except sorry. I guess I was just so caught up in trying to get this beta out before the end of the school holidays I didn't check my work when I made changes. I'm pretty sure that at least everything up to the last city will work, but I doubt there are any bugs there. What happened was after I re-did all the scripts I decided to make some moddifcations to the scripts in the beginning so they would be on par with my new scripts, obviously I didn't test them out which was a huge mistake, I guess I just got a little cocky...

Well anyway if anyone still cares you can download the new fixed beta (I know it's the 4th one in 2 days). Glitches aside, (and hopefully there are none now) it's pretty fun, at least I think so.

EDIT: You don't have to start a new game just do what you do with ShinyGold betas.

The Toxic TM that you find (TM06, I think) can be picked up unlimited times. As fun as it was to:

3. Sell remaining TMs
4. ?
5. Profit!

I thought I should probably let you know about it. I'll let you know if I find anything else. I'd like you to look at the evolving one, because it's not as fun stopping evolutions after every level, and having weak pokemon. Still a great beta so far, though.

My bad, it's found on Route 03. Apparently if you leave the route and enter back, it does go away. I had already picked it up like 8 times though.

There's a glitch with the girl on Route 04 that has the three meowths. Whenever you beat her, her sprite gets all messed up and you can no longer move...

Edit: A Houndour just roared me on the same route, and the same thing happened (only some random trainer's sprite got messed up)

Edit2: Now whenever I continue my game, the same thing happens, so I can't continue...I uploaded a picture of it:

I'm not actually sure what causes that. Have you tried saving and then resarting the game with a save instead of a save state? About the Ampharos thing, I could've sworn it learnt thunderbolt... I guess not though. I probably will change it but in the next release because by then you'll be able to get a lot more D/P pokemon so I'll have to do some move editing anyway.

The script at the latiam city catacombs is messed up. When you enter the catacombs and talk to the girl she says a scary monster was chasing her, and that here it comes again... then the game freezes.

Also the sign near the first part of mt berinous... you can walk over it from the sides, and back.

edit - on route 4 after beating your rival the rival music dosen't stop. edit - All right the music does stop, but it starts again after beating the bug catcher right after him.

On route 5 after beating the super nerd the game freezes.

Their are also numerous movement permission errors in the national libary.

Not sure if its a glitch but before you find the theif in the libary you have to get the item ???????. The item is proably a glitch.

edit2 - i do recomend changing bug catchers elijah's pokemon.

i also recomend editing your rivals text at route 5 to say something about checking out that item near the corner after ther ledge jump. its a important item (hm 01) and some people sometimes just never pick up items on the ground.

All right... on route 6 some weird stuff just happened after i captured a volbeat on route 6... screen shot included. Holy crap!!! the same thing happened again after i ran from a growlith. screen included

1) Fixed thanks, it's a shiny encounter and I forgot to create the routine for it.
2) Fixed thanks.
3) Thats weird it doesn't happen to me, I'll check it out anyway.
4) Route 5 is quite buggy and I don't know why that happens but I'll try to fix it. It's probably something wrong with the events, so maybe changing the pointer for the events will fix it.
5) Its not the movement permissions, its the tile I forgot to edit its behavior.
6) Fixed it wasn't intentional.
7) Why? Shedninja is super easy to kill.
8) You can't proceed without getting Cut and its not exactly hidden so it shouldn't be too hard to find.
9) Same problem with Route 5.
10) Fixed, pointer problem.

Man that was long, I'm sooo sick of these bugs, I'm definitely having people beta test the next release.

Well, anyway I started working on the hack again and I'm extremely happy to say that I've finished the ice tileset (credits to Fanking Omega for the tiles), finally! Heres a small preview:

Maybe this can help you pinpoint the glitches in Route 05. If you look at my screen shot and see the girl in the right hand corner. For some reason, I can control her whenever I start my game. I can only control her for a few spaces though (everything else is blocked off, I'm guessing that's the path that she travels randomly). I still can't progress though.

I decided to save in that spot, and now when I restart the game, the girl turns into the main character (so there are two main characters on the screen), and I can control only the main character that's in the spot that the girl was, and can't move outside of her confined area. I can upload a screen shot if that's not clear enough (or maybe I could send you my save file).

I really enjoy the beta so far. I've only spotted two minor glitches. One being that the tiles on the main character's house occasionally gets messed up. The other is when the main character's mom says his/her dad has already left and he can clearly be seen sitting across from her.

um, the trainers pokemon are so high level! im heading to latim, and i encountered a biker with 28 levle pokes!
The shouldn't be that hard to beat, and I think the trainer you are referring to only has one pokemon any.

Maybe this can help you pinpoint the glitches in Route 05. If you look at my screen shot and see the girl in the right hand corner. For some reason, I can control her whenever I start my game. I can only control her for a few spaces though (everything else is blocked off, I'm guessing that's the path that she travels randomly). I still can't progress though.

I decided to save in that spot, and now when I restart the game, the girl turns into the main character (so there are two main characters on the screen), and I can control only the main character that's in the spot that the girl was, and can't move outside of her confined area. I can upload a screen shot if that's not clear enough (or maybe I could send you my save file).
Yeah I tested this out and it happens to me as well. I still haven't been able to fix it but when I do, I'll upload it and hopefully that'll be the last version of beta 1 I have to post.

I'm only going to decapitalize the attacks and items. I don't really want to change the pokemon names because names are always in full capitals in my hack to make them stand out from the rest of the text. As most people just skip reading text having things in capitals occasionally makes them take more notice, or at least thats what I think.

I think the Gym's roof should be covered with snow too
I did have an icy Gym but the tile (made by Fanking Omega) isn't a standard sized Gym so its difficult to implement, I'll probably try editing it later on.

It didn't turn out quite like I wanted to, I had to make some compromises because of the limitations of scripting, but I think it turned out ok. I've also been mapping the Frostpen City Gym. I'm still unsure of what I type I should use as Ice would be a little too predictable. Also if you've played the beta, you'll know the Gym Leader is the older brother of the leader in Latim City. The two brothers have a small part to play in the overall plot, but that won't be for a while yet.

Heres some pics of the Frostpen Gym Leader, Gavin. I decided that I would go with ice, just because it probably wouldn't make sense if he weren't. Anyway he will be very tough to defeat. He has 3 very strong, final evolution, ice type, Pokemon. One is even a D/P Pokemon. I guess it's pretty easy to guess what it is now, right?

Yep, and after I finish my MD hack (will take about 3 months for the first beta, even earlier) I'll start working on a Firered hack or make more MD events and fix some trap glitches for beta 3. Either way, I might expect a fanclub :D

So I don't have many updates right now, I just tested out some stuff but I didn't like how they turned out so I won't use them. I'm still at Frostpen City and I'm currently scripting the Bar event which is a little buggy because of something wrong with the map but it shouldn't take too much longer to do so, hopefully I'll have some screenshots of where you go when you fall down those cracks in the lake before the end of this week.

The new Route 1

I decided to redo Route 1 because it was mapped very badly, very very badly. I think this new version looks much better. I've also been fixing some bugs, for example I finally worked out what was causing that weird thing on Route 5 and I finished the puzzle for the Frostpen City Gym (it's not very difficult unfortunately), and I've finished one half of the bar script. That just leaves scripting of a few more houses, the people in the bar, people walking around the City, the mart and frozen lake holes... sigh... I hate making Cities...

Yeah I guess they are pretty difficult to defeat especially since you only have two badges. I think what I'll do is go through the game and change the levels so they are only slightly higher than what would be expected in a normal game by slightly I mean 1 or two levels. I'll probably add some trainers in Route 1 too so they first gym won't be so difficult. To still keep the difficulty factor I will make it so the starters evolutions occur later on, the first at 24 and the second at 42. They will also have their stats updated so people will want to have them in their team. Their total stats (in their final evolutions) will be equal to Snorlax's [s]which I think is 580[s] is 540. What do you guys think of that idea? I really don't want to make the game too easy so I think that this is the best way. It's also hard to create trainers now, I'm up to the 3rd gym and trainers have Pokemon at levels above 40 which is ridiculous.

I've also added some decent attacks into its movepool which before wasn't all that great.
I would love to hear peoples comments and suggestions as I am not very good at this kind of things.

And you might want to lower the overall levels for trainers just a bit. The level progression should probably exceed Red/Blues by a bit (let's say the 8th leader has a level 70 pokemon in this game, compared to 50 for Red/Blue, that way there's still improvement to be had for the elite 4). Oh, and adding trainers to Route 1 is a good idea.

Yeah, good point, I'll definitely make that change. The last gym leader will have Pokemon around 50-60 and the Elite 4 will have pokemon at 55-75 and the second wave will be 65-85.

The Eevee that you get will be either male or female. The male evolves in to only certain Pokemon and the same for the female. Should I make it your gender that decides what you get or your 'karma' level (which is basically just whose side you decide to take in the story).

It's a shiny Duskull, experiments in the Latim Catacombs affected some of the Pokemon there.

Granite City is the second largest City in Serao and has a lot of stuff to do, including some very important events. This is the place you will finally learn about what your father has been up to and some of the legend behind Arceus. The mapping isn't finalised yet. It looks great in AdvanceMap but in-game it looks quite ugly, so I'll have to re-map it. Oh yeah, theres also a gym here but I forgot to put it in. This might be the place where you get Surf too.

I plan to have an Espeon in my party at some point, so I'm just wondering if I need Eevee to be a male or a female (if that's what you meant by that). And if so, is there any way to ensure it? If, for example, an Espeon can only be obtained from a Female Eevee, then I would prefer if you made the gender based on karma (or maybe something else, so you can have more freedom on its gender but still be able to pick the hero's gender and side of the story that you want) as opposed to your gender (because I plan on using a male hero). That's just in my opinion though.

If that didn't make any sense, just let me know and I'll try to explain it better.

Anyway, all of the newest updates look really good. I look forward to Beta 2.

The main reason I'm splitting the Eevee line up is because you can't have more than 5 evolutions for a single Pokemon, and in my hack there are 7. I was thinking of having both genders able to evolve in to the original 3 evolutions and the split up Umbreon, Espeon, Glaceon and Leafeon. It'll probably be Umbreon and Glaceon together and Espeon and Leafeon together. U+G will be if you side with your father and E+L will be if you side with the other people. This will also affect which main legendary you can catch before the Elite 4. The only problem is that I don't like to have people wait till way later on in the game before they can have Pokemon they want and since your 'karma' is influenced by events quite further on in the game, I might have to make it so that Eevee is alot harder to get. But you will definitely be able to get only one Eevee.

Good question, I didn't think of that, sorry it took so long to answer as well, I saw this but I forgot to reply. I'll try to make it so you can breed to get a different gender, but I've never tried it before so it might be hard or it could be very simple. You won't be able to catch every Pokemon, the ones you won't be able to catch are Lati@s and the Hoenn fossils becuase I've replaced them with D/P Pokemon.

Palerose Town

Palerose Town is the oldest town in Serao as it was the first place to be settled. Serao is a newly found region that borders Johto, you will be able to access a part of Johto for a mini-game. Anyway Palerose Town is linked with the two main Pokemon in Genesis and will be the first place you see the two.

EDIT: Wow, my mapping looks so bad in those screenshots. It'll be alot better in the beta though.

Oh by the way:
Is there anyone who wants to finish the OW spriting for me? I would really appreciate it, I have the front OWs done for both the girl and boy its just all the other positions that need to be done.

Um when i walked out of my house in the begginging i was in a place of just random tiles and the sprite that looked like daisy was standing a few tiles down. I was unable to move anywhere and i couldn't move. there wasn't even a door to walk back thro. I think you need to work on that

Actually, it's just because it's bad patching 4 u.
Make sure ur patching to a clean ROM.

So the hack is progressing a bit slower now because I have to think over how the next few events are going to work since they are pretty important. Won't be many updates these next few weeks but I will post a video of 1 of the events. It'll explain the origins of Arceus and the world and hopefully people will find it quite interesting. Some Most of the legend is taken from ideas people had in a thread at Pokecommunity I can't remember what it was called but it was a discussion on legendarys. Anyway there were some really good ideas there and I'll use a lot of them together and include a bunch of my ideas and some Classical mythology as well. If anyone remembers the name of that thread or better yet has a link to it please tell me so I can credit them.

I hate the starters and there are millions of bugs, I just don't know where to begin...
I think it was nice, but I got only to the part after you meet ruby and sapphire, because when I was about to save (shift+F1) I pressed (CTRL+F1) and it restarted, so I had to start over, but not before the next beta for sure.

I think this would be better with a couple of fakemon, they are what makes a hack, hack. In my opinion of course, if you don't like fakemon, then don't put them, but I would love em.
Also that mountain whatever it is, is just too long and similar to mt.moon and one of the lasses say something about mt.moon when you defeat them and talk to them, just a minor problem.

Well, I am waiting for Beta2, good luck, I think it's good.

Whats wrong with the starters? I don't think I'm going to change them. Yeah I know about the bugs. I don't really want any Fakemon because it wouldn't make sense with the story anyway. Similar to Mt. Moon? Thats weird I didn't even use the Mt. Moon map I used the Rock tunnel one. And anyway I always make sure to clear my maps before I make new ones.

Mmmm, yeah I probably should have inserted them. I'll probably do it a bit later on. It'll definitely be before beta 2 is out.

No updates for now. All I'm doing is scripting Granite City. After that I'll edit the mart items. Then do the text-editing and make the puzzle for the gym and I'm done with Granite City. After that there is Palerose Town of course. This is the final place in the beta you won't be able to fight the gym leader or really do anything else there. In fact the beta ends halfway through an event. After Palerose I just have to map all the sea routes and then trainer editing and I'm done.

The beta is approximately halfway through the entire game. School holidays start next week so I'll hopefully get a lot done.

Yes I know about the errors. Walking up the stairs might be something I can't fix so I might just make it so you walk through a door. Dad swiveling is really weird, I don't know what is causing it, its not the script, nor the behaviour. The splash screen before the warps will be something I won't change at least not till the very end as I will have to waste 3 maps for it. Um, anything else? I can't remember.

Feedback would be great!

I don't think you can use movesprite on the camera anyway. They are just level scripts for different maps. They all use the same variable as well. When it comes back to Uriel Enterprises its just a simple 03 level script with move sprite and it continues from the original level script it left from. I wanted it to look a bit more cinematic but theres not enough freedom with scripting to achieve that. :/

I didn't really bother making the movements and pauses perfect. I guess I just got lucky. The plot is completely planned out, which I've realized now is a huge mistake. I have the majority of it planned out in my head though.

I think I found a bug. IDK if this has been brought up yet. I battled some hiker in the cave after the first gym (I don't know the names yet), and he just sent out his Geodude and I was about to attack and a bunch of symbols started showing up and the game froze. I had to go back to before I beat the gym leader, so now I have to go back through all that. Just thought I'd bring it up.

Really? Well, I've played the original Firered on my computer (same rom), and nothing like that's happened yet. And I've used the same exact rom for other hacks and that hasn't happened on any of them.

Not quite, you just get a value subtracted from a special variable. You won't see the affects of this variable for a while.

I have battled everyone in the library and then got to the floor with the keycard.. it said the door is 'open' but it doesn't open..like i cant get past it :/
also then i went to the NEXT floor (with the old man and girl) - chairman i think- and i walked down to the right and then go to turn left but an invisible wall is blocking me!
and i just cant get past no matter what.
I assume i need something from them as i went into the cave and realised i need surf!

please help what do i do?
i reeeaallly dont wanna start again as i have spent many many MANY hours having to restart due to my stupid phone.

i have downloaded the version you have available.

what can i do?

The Library is incomplete. Theres nothing more to do there. Just go to the building way down the bottom and you'll be on a new route then just follow the path there.

It goes on a bit further but because of those bugs that is the end of the beta. A new beta will be coming soon and will be much better. You'll have to start from the beginning though. In the meantime check out some other hacks around here.

I've done Route 11 and 10 as well but I forgot to take screenshots. And theres the event where you get Surf but thats really really boring. I've completely finished Granite City (which reminds me I forgot to take screenies of the gym xD ). You won't be able to go to Route 13 which is east of Palerose Town because... I can't be bothered doing it. I might or might not include the sea routes probably will but it depends how far I get this week. Anyway there isn't long to wait till beta 2. So thats it for now.

I know you got the tree from ruby, but can you tell me where you got the temple from?
and the interior looks like the graveyards from lavender town, have you got the idea from that or make it because you thought it could look like that?

There is evolution data available for every Pokemon for up to 5 evolutions. Since in my hack Eevee has 6 I had to split it up.

Fanking Omega's 'Complete Johto Tileset'. Yeah its the tiles from the Pokemon Tower. I didn't really need the tombstones, in fact I would have liked some pouffes (is that right? I'm talking about those pillow things that you sit on) instead. I might change it later on. I just wanted the floor tiles, the symbol tiles and the statue tiles. I think it suits it though, its supposed to like somewhat mysterious and spiritual.

Thats fine, I won't need you to do beta testing till I finish beta 2 so it's still some time away. No its nothing like that. When I say its boring I really mean it. Its not really even an event. All that happens is you talk to an old man he tells you something about the sea and then gives you the HM.

Yeah I guess they are pretty difficult to defeat especially since you only have two badges. I think what I'll do is go through the game and change the levels so they are only slightly higher than what would be expected in a normal game by slightly I mean 1 or two levels. I'll probably add some trainers in Route 1 too so they first gym won't be so difficult. To still keep the difficulty factor I will make it so the starters evolutions occur later on, the first at 24 and the second at 42. They will also have their stats updated so people will want to have them in their team. Their total stats (in their final evolutions) will be equal to Snorlax's [s]which I think is 580[s] is 540. What do you guys think of that idea? I really don't want to make the game too easy so I think that this is the best way. It's also hard to create trainers now, I'm up to the 3rd gym and trainers have Pokemon at levels above 40 which is ridiculous.

Edit: I've been working on some stats and moves for the starters. The total stats for all three are 555 which is the total stat of Arcanine who has the highest stat that isn't an Uber or psuedo-Uber.

With both Attack stats being over 100, a speed stat of 100, and its excellent typing Flygon should be able to take down enemies quite easily. I've also added some decent attacks into its movepool which before wasn't all that great.
I would love to hear peoples comments and suggestions as I am not very good at this kind of things.


On the level rate thing, you just have to find that right spot... I think you should keep it high by the way, I mean it is a game after all, what's the point in keeping the pathetic level rates around? >_> Making trainers stop and train a little, sorta bond with their Pocket Monsters isn't a bad thing in my opinion. Though, you don't want to blow the players out of the water. XD What happened to patient players anyway? ;/ So, depending on the size and length of your region, you should base your level rate accordingly. As that's how level rate is actually determined in today's versions. An example would be that Johto had the weakest 1-8 level rate, however, it also had 8 more gyms to combat such. Playing around with levels is a tough call, but I'm sure with the right testers they can inform you to drop/increase such. Don't be oh so worried about it either, you'll be able to find the right spot. ;D

Now, onto the stats of the starters. (By the way, very interesting bunch o.o I'll still pick Ampharos anywho) I think you're additions to their stats were perfectly fine. They make complete sense too, and shouldn't be too overpowering, because stats really only get overpowering when they reach 600, in competitive terms. Psuedo-uber have a BST of 600. O_o Where did you get Arcanine from? More like 600 (Garchomp, Metagross, Salamence, etc are psuedo uber) I guess you're refering to your game in that sense? But shouldn't really talk about competitive terms when it comes to in-game play. Well, I think they're fine. ;D As long as your game can also provide a challenge to them. They can't walk all over the competition, so if you make the level rate small though, don't change much. However, if you make the level rate higher, I say go for it. Through testing you should be able to find out whether they're too much for the competition. All in all, with everything that involves levels, stats, movesets... You have to find that balance point. You're testers and you should be able to determine that I guess.

For the movesets, well, shouldn't Walrein get the chance to have roar? I mean, it doesn't have it in the fourth generation, (I think) but it'd be a nice touch. Sea lions do roar like... well, they're insane when it comes to barking. XD And seeing as you increased Flygon's special attack, you may want to pack some more special moves in there.

By the way, you know I'm a complete supporter for this hack, so don't ever quit on this... or I'll come eat you. ;D Liking Palerose by the way, very interesting stuff, keep it up!

Having higher levels causes a bit of problems. Level 40 at the 3rd badge is far too much by any stretch and training Pokemon like Shroomish, Larvitar etc. will be a real pain since their so weak until they evolve. Also at the Pokemon League I want there to be a jump in levels by about 10 and from playing ShinyGold I know that its possible to beat a lvl70 with a lvl60 quite easily, and if that becomes the case it won't be all that difficult.

Roar? Well maybe but I doubt anyone would keep that attack. Yeah I wanted to give it some more but what can I give it? Its Ground/Dragon so I don't really know what? I might give it some extra TMs but I really wanted to stay away from changing those.

Yeah I definitely won't give up on this hack, I've made too much progress to give up now.

The first two gym leaders are tough (usually) and then three and such set the tempo, with latter gyms being the test. (Like the Elite Four) Or, at least that's how I like it. XD Also speaking of gyms, just for a reminder...The good ol' use their own unique Pocket Monster Gym Leader, just keep that in mind. I hate it when I see a steel gym with all the trainers having a Steelix and then ZOMG THE GYM LEADER HAS STEELIX TOO, HOW ORIGINAL! But yeah, I'd say set the level rate okay with the early gyms and then turn up the heat later on.

Well all gym-leaders are extremely tough to beat in my hack. At least in my opinion. I've tried to make movesets that will be very effective, I haven't tested theses out yet however.
Yeah I really hate seeing that as well with gym leaders. The original games all do that. Mine won't since I'm using Pokemon from 3 different regions (not just one) I'll have tonnes of Pokemon to choose from. Especially for the Granite City one, its Rock/Ground so there's a lot of choices.

Yeah, Fire Blast is really its only option in terms of Special based attacks, it can't learn Water/Ice/Electric/Grass etc. It can learn Fire Blast through a TM though so I probably won't add it. Ice Beam? Seems a little too generous don't you think? (but then again I did give Flygon Dragon Claw xD) But I just see Ice Beam as way too useful so I probably won't give it that. Its got Aurora Beam which isn't a whole lot weaker.

Haha yeah you do use a lot of smilies, but I think that's good. It makes posts seem more friendly.

Palerose Gym
I accidentally screwed my save file so I couldn't take screenshots. Anyway in this gym you will have to keep falling of the platforms until you get to the gym leader. Each tile you can fall into will take you to either a platform or the leader. The minimum number of trainers you have to fight is 2... if you know where to fall.

I'm going to start testing now. Mainly because I have to becuase my save game is screwed. Anyway when I've finished testing myself I'll send it to my beta testers. After bug fixing Beta 2 will be available for downloading.

From zel? No those tiles are already in FireRed. They are from the Pokemon Mansion. Beta 2 is a few days away actually ;). I actually forgot to add them to the leader, they are on now.

Huh? Which tiles? Do you mean the big trees? Those are from R/S/E.
New Legendaries? Probably not, I've already got a lot. I've got all the ones in FR minus Lati@s and I've got the lake trio + dragon trio + Arceus, so its quite a lot.

Beta 2 is now being tested which should take a couple of days after bug fixing I will release it. It is highly, highly recommended that you start from the beginning since I've changed all the trainers levels and if you start from Beta 1 you will be way overpowered. I've also edited quite a few of the scripts so that might cause problems if you choose to start from your beta 1 save. The beta ends at Palerose Gym.

The gym in Palerose Town is a very special gym because two types are used there, both Ghost and Normal. Why? Its because Palerose is connected to the two main Pokemon in Genesis, Arceus and Giratina. Palerose is the most important place in Serao plot-wise. It is where most major events occur.

Oh, and if you didn't know Arceus is Normal-typed and Giratina is Ghost- and Dragon-typed. In my hack however Arceus is Normal- and Dragon-typed, mainly because I can't implement hi Multi-type ability and secondly to emphasize the relationship between the two. Arceus being Dragon-typed isn't too difficult to believe is it? It looks sorta Dragonish, sure it doesn't have wings but neither does Dialga.

The 3 starters, are you sure about them, when I first saw what I could choose from I was wondering if the game was gonna be any good at all.
I spotted a few tile glitches, 1 in the mountains to the left(I can take screenies for you later if you want) hen you go back t the starter town, there is something wrong with I think your house and all its tiles and messed up but when you go to the bottom of the screen and come back up it's fixed.
1st Gym in the 2nd time, isn't that a little soon,I'm guessing not as people who play hacks are generally really good at Pokemon but still.......
I'm guessing you didnt have time to insert the new world map ?

I absolutely love it, I was playing last night and I was hooked, I kinda pressed the power button on my keyboard and turned my pc without saving(><) but I have no problems re-doing the game as it is good that it makes me want to play.

Yeah but its kinda not the same. Multi-type gives you total control over its type, colour change gives control to the opponent.

All of those glitches have been fixed except for when you go from Route 1 to Verasa and the tile thing happens, that won't be fixed for a while.

You can get a map from the fat guy outside your house but theres not much point since I haven't edited it yet. I will in beta 3 because you get Fly then.

Beta 2 goes to the 5th gym. Many more routes and you get Surf so theres a lot to do in Beta 2.
