What did they do that they're gone?

The claimed that the webmaster of PPN had posted copywrited material on his site or something like that. Either way PPN didn't deserved to get brought down.

Alas. I do agree. However the point is moot. I'm not sure if steve is gonna bring the site back or not. Or even if he can.

If memory serves, PPN had some roms posted, so I'm guessing that's enough of a reason for Nintendo to take it down.

I remember PPN being on my list of bookmarks.
Anyway, can't it be brought back without the illegal material?

The Roms were edited for like 1/4 of the total content of the original game, so they were more like demos, which is totally legal.

I really have no idea why it got closed, but it has been earlier said that he has posted copyrighted material, and illegal roms is the the only thing I can think of as a reason..

Do you know why it got closed Chatot?

If I remember right, PUSA had the FBI make Steve shut down the site.

Before, they asked him to take the down the site for providing news material, but that is obviously in violation of Free Speech. ( The news being free speech )

So basically the only thing PUSA could have had on Steve is the fact that he provided top notch information about Pokemon, and the fact that he provided legal ROMs.

So why not open a new one, and a new name?

The Umanator.
February 9th, 2008, 09:38 PM
because it will be found and taken down again. Besides why should Steve even risk his neck to do it again? He probably got a warning this time, the next time there could be formal charges.

I've been really ticked off about this whole situation...usually game and anime companies love the fact that people are making fansites about their products...

PPN could return, any day. Steve could start a new site, with a new name, and fresh content. The Internet would easily find out that its the new replacement so it would be popular in no time. Just the hastle I guess.

Also I don't think ROMs was the problem, there are a lot bigger ROM websites providing Pokemon games. They make tons of revenue and haven't been closed down.

They were just Game Saves and Translated Rom Ips files.

I loved PPN so much. Their png official art files for EVERY Pokemon that exists, their complete Pokedex, and their beutiful strategy guides, all gone for stupid reasons.

I don't really think anything happened at all, since we didn't get any official information at all.

There are some ancient posts on the old PPN and possibly PPNStudio on this matter, check a web archiving site...

There was nothing wrong with the site it would be worse if pokemon didnt have any fansites at all. The ROMS were legal. Why Did They have to close it why

Pokémon Palace Network had everything about Pokémon anime,
games, and other things. But maybe Rukario might bring back
the site again but maybe this time it should have the roms in IPS patches
instead of roms. Because remember roms that are edited (even demos) they should
be in IPS patches not plain roms.

Thanks, at least everyone will be able to view it now. :)
But the reason why it was taken down was because of providing ROMs.
ROMs are copyrighted material and it doesn't matter even if it's made as a demo,
Pokémon USA will still force Rukario to shut down the site, Rukario should insead of having ROMs, he should try having IPS patches for the demo versions of the games. ;)
Rukario will probably bring back Pokémon Palace Network.

That doesn't make any sense at all though, why have the demo when you already have the full game?

demonmike
May 12th, 2008, 08:54 PM
Surely providing demo's is illegal, no?

Still the same game, but shortened. If he had no permission to supply these, which it obviously seems he didnt, Nintendo has enough to send the law after him because of Copy Right Protection laws.

Its a shame, and why PPN was chosen over other sites is a total mystery.

Yeah, I'm sorry about that. :( But what made Pokémon USA take it down because of copyright? :\
I really miss Pokémon Palace Network but when will Rukario bring it back up?

Wow, you guys...

I am betting this was all a big scam. It seems as if #PM thought it would scare a particular release group into not releasing, but it didn't work and #PM was being a sore loser. As to why the site's not there... I'm not sure. But according to my sources, PPN was never raided at all and it was all an act.

Then you have bad sources. No one knows the exact reason behind the raid besides PPN. So how about everyone stops this senseless, idiotic speculation and drop it.

Yes it could have been a act could have not and if steve closed down his site that would usually mean that he stopped liking pokemon but he is still coming on the pokecommunity

Uh.. way to be nice there

I don't even think it has to do with him liking Pokémon. He's on #PM's IRC channel all the time, and if he was really raided, don't you think the government would make sure he's not hanging around with a bunch of media pirates? And if he didn't like Pokémon, why be on #PM?

The most logical explanation is that it was a hoax.

No wonder it won't load up....
I'll miss you PPN...

How come PPN Studio and PPN Gallery are still up?
And what about Serebii? I like his site, but I'm just saying. Serebii has just about as much as PPN, but without the ROMS.

Serebii has just about as much as PPN, but without the ROMS.
That's exactly why. Serebii doesn't have any ROMs, and PPN did. Game developers don't like ROMs because they don't make any money off of them. The only time I think ROMs are necessary is when you want to play a game you can't buy new at Walmart.
