1. How much control should be given to the individual rper over various different NPCs, and should there be instances where the control is solely in the hands of the creator (RM)? (Post #15)

2. Should characters have individual mentors that are controlled by the individual? (Post #23)

NOTICE: I have referenced the post numbers to the issues that need to be discussed, so you can see the whole issue and follow the conversations. (Aren't I such a nice person!) XD

Now to address the problem that is at hand, the one concerning people having the same pokemon. Seeing as I was assuming that that was an unspoken rule and that so far those who have applied have not duplicated anyone, I see no reason to have to treat people like two year olds and state the obvious, unless I have to. So please people, don't make me have to.

Thank you. xD
I'm always the unfortunate one who has her Pokemon duplicated. xDD

Raichu Master
February 11th, 2008, 12:10 PM
I'll keep that in mind when I'm looking for someone to copy off of! XD

This is my first rp in a really really really really long time so I'm hoping that everything works out well!

I'm sure it will. :] You have a very good plot. Take it from someone who doesn't usually like Pokemorphs...your RP is extremely interesting. I can't wait to start.

I can agree with that and I think I have an idea on how to make sure that no one gets their Pokemon duplicated. After a Pokemon is chosen by someone that is accepted into the rp, you should post it into the first page on a list of Pokemon that have been taken already so everyone knows when a Pokemon has already been taken.

February 11th, 2008, 05:32 PM
oh yay an OOC thread, i'm quite pumped to get started and i'm SO happy to see you have selection standards when you choose who to let in

Raichu Master
February 11th, 2008, 05:39 PM
Thank you for your insight. If it gets be a problem I will use that idea.

As far as my selection is concerned. I used to be a whole lot tougher. Actually...I don't think i would have even accepted the sign-up for myself for this rp back then. I was a tough cookie. I had to water down my standards because i realize I'm not as good as I was a year ago or so. So let us all be thankful that I'm not as strict as I was. XD

However, i do believe that the time you put into your profile shows when you submit it. I know people are busy, and I know they have other things to do besides fill out sign-up sheets, but i just ask that your work shows some effort.

I am living on the other side of the world (Asia), so my response to the thread can be slow.

Wow...I just want to apologize for last night, I was a real grump. But hey, I can be generous when I'm nasty too! I did spell out exactly what I want to see, so that way people aren't all like "well how come..." or what not. Right? I try to be fair and give everyone a break.

There are more people signing up than I originally planned for. Oh boy, it's been even longer since I've been in an rp with a lot of people, this should be interesting indeed.

February 12th, 2008, 11:42 AM
Hello, I'm here to sign up! However, I don't really have time now to do a signup, so in a few hours, maybe, I'll post it. Besides, I'm having a hard time deciding to be a morph (something like that) of Roserade or Froslass. *goes to think*

At first I was going to go with Ninetales, but that means I'd be tempted to have nine special powers, which is way too many.

February 12th, 2008, 04:13 PM
Well there really is a lot of people here that have joined. So let us get our intros into the rp all taken care of and out of the way.

I'm so excited. I don't think I've lost my touch! YAYNESS! Here we go. I'll edit my last post with my intro! :)

xD; I'm willing to change whatever.
I tried to make it obvious that Ash can't choose which minds she reads, and she gets a swarm of them at once [which causes the headache], but since I could only bunny Ev, I only used two voices. Think what's-his-name from Heroes. The cop. xD;
The healing is...just minor cuts and scrapes. Stuff that bleeds for maybe a minute before stopping.
Ehhhh just tell me what you want me to change. :]

I just wanted to take a little time say hi to everyone, and thank Rai for this sweet RP!!!

Sorry. I deleted my comment. It wasn't very nice, and i was like "eh...I'm too mean..."

Anyway, I've been thinking about what I'm going to do about npc's. there are a lot of them, and some of them have major movers of the plot, like how Enigma will be appearing rather soonish (relative to rp not in real time). I'm deciding whether I should just go ahead and take over them when they appear or not. Because if i do, that drastically takes the length out of most post, since it handicaps the rper to only controlling one character.

I haven't taken control of Dr. Vinton, only because it's a real pain to only post three paragraphs and wait for me to post for you to continue. So what you got done in one post would have taken many more. So he truly isn't a npc if you take it at it's literal meaning. he's more of a community character for now. I can foresee some times where I would need to take control of certain npcs to progress the plot. I don't know, though.

Very tricky, because I want to allow the greatest about of freedom for each rper. I've been contemplating posting a series of other characters and just having people sign up for them and whichever ones don't get chosen I take. As far as the side characters such as Dr. Vinton and what not. But even that has serious problems. See why I can never make decisions? I keep arguing with myself! XD

Anyway, those are my thoughts, yes they are scattered, but I whole-heartedly believe that an rp is a collaborative effort so therefore the people rping in them should have as much say as the creator. I suppose I do ultimately have creative control of the big picture, but that's besides the point.

There I go contradicting myself again. Well have fun reading this if you can make any sense out of it. :P

February 14th, 2008, 12:03 PM
Hey Raichu Master I posted in the other thread but I think it's better if I post here.

I'm also going to join in but I'm still deciding on what pokemon I want my character to morph into so I'm sorry it's taking a little time!

Here is my sign-up- the great hybrid cyborg Salamence thingy!!!

Name: Oh noes, I forgot it! Oh wait, yeah… Brad Matthews.
Nickname: Apocalypse.
Age: 16
Gender: The Space Needle, not the Harbor Tunnel…
Pokemon: THIS… IS… SALAMENCE!! Yeah!!! Anyways, ye’ olde Brad can use draconic energy to open portals (Dragons don’t really translate to our world that well...), and heal himself of minor to medium wounds. His cyborg insides allow usage of various weapons, but only ones that can be handheld or mounted by a normal person (no nukes, or large missiles... or torpedoes... awww. As a pokemon, he can only use machine guns, or missiles- no grenades, or other guns... too small.))(There, Evaky. No longer overpowered...)
Description: Heh. Yeah. Brad is melanistic, and has some albino features. His hair is completely white, and in a disheveled, spiked hairstyle. His eyes are blood red, and slanted upward, an odd trait in humans. His muscular, well-endowed (Heh!) body is pitch black, black as night, etc. He is ambidextrous, but a horrible accident (he crashed his motorcycle into an oil tanker, lit on fire, and fell off a cliff) gives him a very… robotic body. Some of his insides are completely or partially robotic, like his eyes, ears, and sense of touch. His digestive system is completely gone, and the food is chemically converted using his robotic stomach. His armor, on his shoulders, on his arms (only to elbows), back, legs, and cheeks is golden in color. In addition, cannons can sprout from most of his body- he is well protected against his many enemies. He is a gigantic person- at 6’6”, he is… intimidating. His mark of being hybrid is a scar on his back- a hexagram. This mark is present on the forehead of Salamence, in a deep blue hue- many of those familiar with Pokemon recognize the trait.
Half Description: Brad gains 12 white wings on his back, and clear Salamence armor. He grow longer, and gains a blue aura around him. His eyes go pure white, and his hair changes red. In this state, he looks like an angel- a really demented angel. He can’t use his weapons in this state, but his energy nlasts and hybrid powers are as powerful as the normal weapons would be.
Pokemon Description: A long, extremely large black Salamence with white wings. He has large red eyes, golden belly armor, the same armor in the aforementioned places of his body, and new parts of the tail. His claws and fangs are larger, and Brad is more muscular (and well endowed) than most Salamence. In this form, he looks more regal, and he goes into this more often- some Salamence respect him, and the others just leave him alone. However, he still has no friends among the Salamence either.
Personality: Brad is a quiet, lonely person, and seems violent. He hates being bothered, and acts cold and malicious around most who bother him- he comes off as psychotic. However, he is merely misunderstood.

After years of torment and misery in public schools, Brad had developed an iron curtain… in more than one way. He isolated himself, and enjoys silence and loneliness. His shell protects him, but inside he is still miserable- knowing he is a freak. However, this feeling has died as he chose Pokemon form more and more- Salamence are quite… liberal in their society. When his shell is endangered, a psychological shield kicks in.

If someone annoys him too much, he starts getting violent. Eventually, his face twists in a demented smile. This is why he warns people about his… anger. Outside of this, he is calm, cool, and collected. In any situation, he is a pillar of calm.
In addition, Brad is quite the sharp-tongued cynic. He is disgusted with the experimentation, and intolerance in the world, of any race. He believes that the world… has gone to crap. He despises optimism- he sees it as the “dumbasses are at it again, saying we’re fine… bullshit.” Brad enjoys reading, Jeopardy, alcohol, and silence. He also loves cold temperatures- ironic for a dragon.

Will there be other gifted students which are not entirely controlled by RPers?

Can we bunny teachers?

Can't wait for the lessons to start.

Raichu Master
February 15th, 2008, 11:44 AM
Along with the other issue (...which no one has yet to comment on...) I'm also debating on that one as well. Will the be other characters? That would depend on how many people Enigma actually experimented with. They didn't experiment on a large population so the numbers are already small, so I'm not sure whether there will be or not.

As far as lessons go I'm still trying to figure that out. In the anime series there really doesn't seem to be any education system, and neither is there one in the games except the occasions where there are schools to education on pokemon, but I think it's just assumed (maybe). But here is my decision:

Like in X-men evolution, the purpose of the academy is to help the mutants cope with society, which is the aim of this university. So therefore, the students were expected to attend public school, which I think is what may happen, just because that's the more interesting route, and that's how Pokemon Evolution has always worked. And there has to be coping with the outside world.

However, in either scenario, there are going to be "instructors" who mentor and train each person how to control their power, so there are other characters within the university.

I have an idea, but i want all of your views in it before I edit my post:

Each character has a mentor controlled by the rper (I'm debating whether to need another sign-up sheet for this). But along with the mentor there is also a head of training in each area which is controlled by me.

What do you guys think? now there are two issues.

NOTE: Please read first post for current issues that are in discussion.

Trainer Kat
February 15th, 2008, 09:10 PM
NPC issue- I think there should be community NPCs. Dr. V, for instance. Either that, or you could have people sign up for NPCs, but allow people to have some limited control over them. For example, let's say I'm controlling a character named Tina, who happens to be...erm...she'll be the librarian. Now, Rai wants to check out a book. He could go to the library and get said book without waiting for me to post. I hope that made sense.

Personally, I like the idea of having mentors. Obviously, Ashleigh isn't going to need the same type of training as Tyler. I think that's a good idea.

One quick question, just because I'm not sure I understand. Are we attending SCHOOL at the university? Or are we all attending a local high school, where we'll be mixed in with normal kids?

February 15th, 2008, 10:05 PM
yikes close signups! lots of RPers is nice but too many is a crowd and complicated....plus its hard to feel like posting when i get interrupted with more signups...

February 15th, 2008, 11:55 PM
True, true, especially the fact that the signup quality seems to go down as the RPG gets later and later...

Whoa... it seems that the rooms are arranged so that people get their worst enemy or worst match as a roommate... Gee, Violet and Cyclo...? Talk about near opposite personalities...

*waits for Sir Aaron to post* After all, I was talking to his character...

February 16th, 2008, 12:57 AM
ok i re-did my sign in is it better or should i chang something.

Raichu Master
February 16th, 2008, 08:35 AM
Yes, I should close this rp huh? I mean, I was going to leave it open only because...well...quite honestly, I didn't know how it would do. But since it is a rather popular RP, I suppose I'll close it.

School - See I was debating with myself about the whole school issue as well. I think it best if we attend a local high school.

NPC - Very good. If no one else has anything else to say on this matter then it is decided.

Ninetales - *grins wide* don't I know it!

xD; I would still let Jez in, should she choose to sign up, since she DID say she was going to.
As for closing sign-ups, I dunno, if you're sure we have enough people. I remember one RP had prospectives sign-up, and then current members voted on whether or not to let them in. We could do that, or we could just close them outright.

Oh man, I can't wait to see how Ashleigh reacts to Violet...

*ponders* Everyone who has signed up or has tried to sign up will be eligible to be accepted. I could post that all sign ups from here on out be put on here and then that way we can discuss, whoever I'm of the idea that we just close it and open it if I or we see fit. However, I don't know i would like to think more on the whole "voting" in or out, because ultimately it's my call whether someone is in or out. But you have seen how easily i am swayed. XD

Yeah, this should be interesting.

Rai...*shakes head*...he's such a...hmm...how do i put this...? Flirt? I have a habit of creating characters opposite of my own personality. XD

Raichu Master
February 17th, 2008, 08:00 AM
Rai tends to do that...whenever a guy talks to him and a girl, any girl really, is in the room or he thinks will be in the room, the conversation goes in one ear and out the other. Let's just say that he has selective hearing. XD

Rai: I'm working on it...ok...I'm working on it...sheesh...

Anyway, their first day of school will be tomorrow (tomorrow in the rp), which should be interesting.

Oh and all misfits, I don't know if I made this clear or not, were done on purpose. I just so love conflict that I couldn't resist. Oh and another thing, it will give each character a chance to work on control. XD

February 17th, 2008, 10:49 PM
Oh man, I can't wait to see how Ashleigh reacts to Violet...

Well there you go--I put Violet right across the table from her. Have fun!

Hmm... The problem with having two names (a real name and a nickname) is that you never know which one to call characters by. I've been calling everyone by their nicknames most of the time, but then nearly everyone except me has been calling their characters by their real names. Is this a mistake on my part--are we supposed to be given these second names by Dr. Vinton or something after a while?
(I hope not--then I'll have to do a switcheroo on Violet's names. There's no way she's being called Florita.)

I personally vote that we close the signups, only because nine or ten really is a crowd, and any more would make it easy to have things get out of control. We can open signups if people quit, but if that doesn't happen, let's just close signups for now. You can always restart this RPG later to allow some of the other people to be in the RPG, maybe break up the RPG into two--the same plot but with two different sets of characters (us and the new signups). I remember having to do that with an RPG I created on another site...

February 17th, 2008, 11:31 PM
I just noticed there is one character each for ages 14, 15, 17 and 18. The rest is 16.

I say close the sign ups. If you want to leave it open, get them to PM you their sign up. But it's better to close. You don't have to deal with low quality sign ups.

Just I thought I should give my two cents on closing the RP to new applications. I think were at an odd amount of students right now. I personally think we should wait until everyone has a roommate before closing the RP. After that point I'm all for closing the RP. My reasoning: having a roommate has its ups (some of which can be fun) and downs and who says we should deny one of the characters of having one?

About characters having individual mentors for themselves. I really like that idea, it would give the chance for some characters to come out and show their stuff without their usual worries. Also for the characters that have slight confidence issues, like mine, it would be the perfect way to build up a character's confidence level, since they are away from the watchful eyes of classmates. Also on another note most of the characters have different powers while some of the thing do overlap like Ty and Dana's ability to fly (at least I am assuming this on Ty's part) most of the time one instructor could not meet the needs of all the different characters and their respective powers which would make a single instructor would be able too.

Something that was bothering about me about Quasar. First of all he never listed Safeguard as one of his powers in his application. Second, call me possesive, but Safeguard is what I was using as the basis for Dana's energy barriers, I just didn't quite come out and say it like Quasar did. Truth be told I don't mind it too much since it is different from mine but for some reason it bugs me.

Anyway that's all I got to say for now.

February 19th, 2008, 05:00 PM
i think too many mentors COULD get confusing with so many names flying around but i'm willing to deal with it.

on the new member category... theres already so many RPers and i have to wait forever before i can post already... i'd rather close them now.

as for Quasar.... i'm still seeing that he never even got accepted. Why is he posting?

I do see where you coming from on both of them. More RPers does equal more mentors which then equals more confusion. Your probably right that it would be better to close the RP to new applications

Sorry for not posting for a while... things are pretty busy around here... I hope to get it done by the end of this week, myaby on thursday... If I am lucky!!!!

and on the topic of another girl, that would be a better thing... Most people, like me, would like it better if they had a room mate... it makes it so you can just talk, relieve stress, and maybe get some things off their chest. In the case of Sophie, it could possibly help open her shell towards others.

February 19th, 2008, 07:17 PM

Hey! I thought Raichu Master said "More detail on the half stage...and then you'll be good to go."
So that means I'm accepted as long I edited my "half-stage". And sorry about the Safeguard thingy, I forgot to include it in my "powers". Sheesh....

Correct me If I'm wrong please...

February 19th, 2008, 07:18 PM
add more means add more... you're still pending until the RP owner says you're accepted. You don't get to decide what is "enough" detail for the RP, only the owner can.

February 19th, 2008, 07:20 PM
Then I'll stop posting until he says so....

Raichu Master
February 22nd, 2008, 12:43 PM
I re-looked your profile Quasar, and here is my final decision be it right or wrong:

The length of it will due. However, Safeguard was not in your profile, nor will it be. I have looked over the powers under question. Those being of Star Girl's character and your character and found that they would be too similar a comparison. So I will accept you under the condition that the powers that you originally signed-up under are it. Characters can not gain powers as the rp progresses nor can they lose powers. Their powers are their powers, unless specifically mentioned in the profile. If we debate with this decision I will not accept your sign-up.

Now on to bigger and better things:

I agree that there are a lot of people to post before you can post again, and I know for more active members that can be a pain. So I am still considering closing it, seeing as how that there is no one else really signing up anymore I just might.

I've been contemplating introducing an antagonist who is also a morph attending as well. But that's top secret for now, so that's your only leak. :P

I also want to apologize for my inactivity, my post will come later today, on the main principle that it still needs to be typed. I figured I should just clarify some stuff as to everything before I posted, so there's that. :)

February 22nd, 2008, 05:58 PM
Sorry for not posting in a long time my internet wasn't working.

I bet that morph will be female and Electric to give someone a roommate? No, wait, we have an odd number for both boys and girls now.

February 24th, 2008, 04:56 PM
Okay, sorry for the huge delay people, but RM asked me to post this here, so here it is! I was usually in most of the older versions of this RP, but I'm feeling rusty. >_>

Name:Robert Price

Nickname: "Shiney"

Age: 18

Gender: Male

Pokemon: Prone to change before completion, but for the moment, Eevee. His powers are enhanced hearing and eyesight, and slightly enhanced smell, as well as vulnerability to certain kinds of elemental radiation. Think sudden and violent illness (Evolution anyone?) He's also somewhat faster and more agile than you'd expect a guy his size to be, but nothing outrageous.

Description: For now, Robert price stands at almost six feet tall, varying slightly depending on his shoes, but his usual garb are black jeans, a dark wine-red colored polo shirt, and faded, half-beaten white tennis shoes. Over all this, he typically wears a german style black leather trenchcoat that makes his broad frame appear even more strongly built. He has a bit of a scruff on his face from lack of a clean shave, and has really dark brown hair a few inches long kept in a mess on his head. This makes a good contrast with his medium tan and hazel eyes. In short, he looks like a punk at first glance, and a quiet hermit at second. His distinguishing mark is the fact that his eyes are a sparkling, almost 'bright' black, the same as an eevee's

Half Description: Partially transformed, Robert gains pointy, furry Eevee ears poking out of his hair, and a large puffy eevee tail which he considers an annoyance (mostly because most people seem to want to mess with it.) His scruff becomes a little more pronounced, and he gains a white "main" of chest hair, which is thankfully thin enough to keep hidden easily. Moreover, he becomes slightly slimmer and smaller, but it's not a very noticeable difference. Other than that, he's mostly the same as his human form.

Pokemon Description: As you said, what makes him different from a pokemon of the same type... Well, his fur is the much darker brown of his hair, and while a bit bulkier than a normal eevee, you can also notice that his front paws are more warped almost like fingers, with four 'primary' toes, and one 'side' toe. It's still a paw, but it would be *slightly* more useful for messing with tools. His back paws look fairly normal, aside from five smaller toes, and it's more elongated slightly, good for pouncing and longer strides.

Personality: Robert's simply one of those people that's hard to identify as any one type of personality. He's quiet to most any stranger, and usually a nice kid, nice enough to be one of the people you can seem to walk right on over. But he does have a carefully hidden viscious side. If he takes enough garbage, eventually, he'll start to be mean as a cornered fox. (Pun intended.) On the rare occasions that he can make a close friend, he'll open up more, and sometimes seem to be random, more than a little odd. One of his virtues, and weaknesses however is that he's a nice guy at heart, and extremely Loyal, whch gets him into a lot of bad situations for the good of others.

February 26th, 2008, 09:39 AM
Shiney: Shouldn't Shiney be Shiney in Pokemon form? Just kidding.

I would post now... I have time, but I can't just move on without Ashleigh answering Violet's question. This makes two RPG's where I'm waiting for Trainer Kat to post...

February 27th, 2008, 02:42 PM
and THIS is what i'm talkin about *points to IC thread* 3 applications in a row ruining the flow of the RP because they're too dum to look for the ooc thread first before trying to signup -_-

She's shy.
And Violet's pretty, so she intimidates her a little.

February 28th, 2008, 09:57 PM
I know--I'm shy myself. But think about it--if a shy girl doesn't say much to a non-shy girl, wouldn't the non-shy girl think that the shy girl is ignoring her? ...Or at least that's what Violet thinks.

*looks at Sir Aaron's reply* And Sophie thinks Ashleigh's pretty. XD

*looks at own reply* Oh my... it seems Violet's talking to all the shy girls first! First Ashleigh, now Sophie...

Hey can someone please start talking to Dana? I want to post but I can't think of anything but she isn't one to really start a conversation.

Okay, sorry for the huge delay people, but RM asked me to post my signup, so there it is on page 2, finally! I was usually in most of the older versions of this RP, but I'm feeling rusty. >_> Any input is appreciated!

While I didn't specifically read anywhere that I should post here, I'm sort of getting that vibe. Would it be all right if I were to join this neat role play? I hope I did this form right and that you're still accepting. I'm going to look so lame if the role play's closed to newcomers or I do this wrong. XD

Name: Katrina Frederic

Nickname: She doesn't really have one. Maybe you'll be the lucky person to give her one.

Age: Sixteen.

Gender: Female.

Pokemon: Flygon. Just as Flygons go, she has the ability to hover for short times, as well as the ability to use the agility and power of a dragon Pokemon. Of course, she hardly has the strength to back up such power, but that's another thing entirely.

Description: While others had far less inconspicuous traits, hers stuck out so much - literally and figuratively. A pair of antennae-like horns that Flygon typically have jut out from the depths of her black hair. Beyond these quite embarrassing antennae that she likes to hide with an inconspicuous black cap (although that usually only covers half their length at best), her finger nails grow differently - they grow into claws.

Beyond those little markers, however, she looks fairly normal. She has an average-ish height somewhere in the mid 5' range; she has an average weight, although perhaps leaning towards the skinny persuasion; and she has an average eye color of green. Interestingly, her eyes weren't green when she was born, but they are now - although she doesn't really realize this fact. The rest of her is pretty dull, too - light skin tone that doesn't burn or freckle easily; smooth facial features; dexterous hands; you know the deal. Stuff normal people have that people don't tend to pay much attention to.

Her style of dress is also quite dull - a tee-shirt or plain colored shirt depending on the weather, and a pair of slacks. She really never bothered to get too into shopping or the fashions of humans.

Half Description: The tail and the wings. The tail and the wings. These things she cannot hide, so it's just a bit more than inconvenient when she's relegated to this form - it's hard to stuff a pair of large, polygonal wings in your tee-shirt and it's hard to stuff a tail into your pants. Beyond that, her hair takes on a greenish tint that's only really noticeable in the glare of the sun - in fact, her skin takes on this very tint as well, although there are areas of it that have an opposing pink hue. Her body becomes more flexible, and different postures become comfortable to her - any human watching her sit in this form would be surprised at the assortment of uncomfortable positions she would be likely to pick up.

Pokemon Description: Her Pokemon form doesn't stick out quite as much as it could, but still - the most distinguishing feature about her is her eyes. From within the protective red bubble that Flygons have, her eyes are the right shape and composition for a Flygon - just a bright green that somehow projects its coloring perfectly through the covering sets her apart from others. Other than that, there isn't much. She does, however, have four fingers, the fourth one being a dexterous thumb.

Personality: She's a serious one. Well, outwardly, she is. She very rarely is one to just leisurely insert her presence into casual conversations - no, indeed, she's usually the people watcher who watches everyone else do that. She isn't socially maladjusted, just a bit picky with whom she really talks to. Katrina has a brilliant sense of humor that's receptive to a lot of different kinds and styles of jokes, although she rarely inserts her own unless she's with close friends. She'll usually relate to and strive to do things for/with those who have a sense of humor.

But yes. She's still a serious Sam, and conversation with her tends to be either clearly Social or clearly Business. Don't joke around with the Business, or she'll get impatient and annoyed. Her feelings and such are pretty stable to what goes on around her, but talking to her personally or making a conflict involve her personally changes the perspective a bit; while she's never likely to get sad or down about something, she is likely to get some righteous anger.
