Hi everybody
It's finally here, AdvanceMap 1.90!
New features:
- The data (NOT the picture) of the world map can be changed! -> Thanks to Mastermind_X for the Worldmap ASM Tutorial (http://sfc.pokemon-inside.net/lesson.php?id=18&lang=en)
- The "black map" bug is now completely fixed.
- You can now change the palette data of blocks in the Block editor.
- AdvanceMap is now available in Japanese and other new languages.
All adjustments:
New functions:
- Worldmap data is now changeable.
- Border block in FR/LG allows to be adjusted now. (ProHeader view)
- Create desktop shortcut
- A shortcut to the last opened ROM can be created in the AdvanceMap folder.
- See your last used ROMs in the File menu (Amount can be adjusted in the Settings.)
- When changing the map size, a check will be run to prevent overwriting.
- Added a context menu entry to open a ROM directly with AdvanceMap. (Adjustable under Settings)
- Several changes in the Block editor
--- When saving the Tileset toa file, it will automatically aborted when two identical colours are found.
--- Tilesets are compressed and saved in the ROM
--- Palettes can now be edited in the Block editor
----- Color Picker is available
--- AnzahlBlocks has been corrected
- GrossBlock extended and fixed, also available for BlockPalette
- ROM infos are available in the bottom left corner
- The feature "Automatic Offset search" is now activated by default, can be adjusted under Settings.
- Scripts can be opened with an external Script Editor.
--- Editor can be defined under Settings
- Events can be deleted one by one.
- Japanese language is available
- On double-click, Map (Warp) or Script (Signpost, People) will be opened.
- The Signpost Event has been extended, every possibilities the game offers are available.
- ROM will now be opened ina way that allows other programs to access it while it is loaded with AM.
- Map scripts can now be changed in the Header View.
- List of Behaviour data has been extended. (Thanks to Tutti)
- The readme file has been extended with hotkey descriptions
- In the professional header view text fields for map script offset and connection offset have been added
Fixed bugs:
- You can now change the Border block in the Header View by Hand (Copy & Paste)
- A tile is no longer drawn over the Block when selected in the Block editor.
- Several small corrections in the Block editor
- if a Map has 2 flight positions, both will be shown
- Several adjustments to the "Insert map" function
- The "Black screen when entering a map" error has been fixed.

Do not use the Resize function in AdvanceMap 1.90
The function delete your data in the Rom and your data are lost, no possibility to get the data back!

Thanks a bunch... seriously... this is more I could ever dream of.
One question though, will any tutorials that use older AdvanceMap versions still work?
(I see the Dutch INI has improved a lot, the one I had (from version 1.82/1.83 or something like that) contained lots of grammar and spelling mistakes. Oh well, I'll make myself a new one anyway ^^)

this translation isn't yet finished, i couldn't wait to release, the translaters have enought time.

The new version was very good..But the language PORTUGUESE of BRAZIL no this working... and some codes of the behaviour types in FireRed still don't work. Example the 03 (animation of the high gram, that I verified that the rom has the animation) but the command doesn't activate.
Even with those small problems the version 1.9 this wonderful one!!

the Tileset image will now save compressed, and will ask (Repoint dialog) if you need to repoint.

Hey LU-Ho there is a problem with my AM.
It says that "all ini files have to be placed in their directories and the respective sub directories" or something like that.

I finished downloading it LU-HO, and from what i've seen so far, this new version is amazing!
Maybe I'll be able to incorporate some of these new ideas into my Mac Mapping Program.

Simply fantastic! You're a genius! I love the World Map Editor, it is fantastic, it will make peoples lives so much easier. Palette Editor is a great idea too, for all the lazy people, like me. You've done so much and it is all great, can't wait 'till V. 1.91! :D

I'm more of a hacker in training, but the release of programs like this are a big boost to moral and a nice step in the right direction; this make me want to try to hack even more.

Simply amazing! The level script editor will especially come in handy for me.
EDIT: This is what happened when I tried to create a new pallete in an unused one. In AdvanceMap the colours are perfect but when I run it this happens:

I got 1.90 yesterday. I must say, very amazing! And just when you think AdvanceMap has got it all covered. :P But I hate the fact that it is THAT much easier for some n00b >.<

@dshayabusa: That bug, about the palletes, is probabby because you've used 12+ Palletes, usually the 12th pallete is the last, but AM shows up to 15 palletes.
Also, I have a question for LU-HO, the Black Screen when entering a map bug...
I have that on Dewford Town Map, in Crystal Shards Rom, that means if I edit it with this new version, It'll be fixed, or already damaged maps will stay like that forever?

alright heres my problem with it, i am trying to change all the water in the game to red but for some reason it applys but never stays, when i reload the rom it either goes back to blue, complete black or the original color i tried turning it red from. any help with this?

This program is great!
I absolutely love the new features it has and the improvements it has from the last version.
I do agree that the byte behaviors in FR need to be polished up a little, I got a little over-excited when I first saw them, other than that, it's great!
The tool for changing the world map data is definitely very useful, I'm very glad that you we're able to incorporate that in A-map.

The AMKontextMenu doesn't seem to be working for me... apparently it can't find the AMKontextMenu file or something like that =/ (what exactly is the KontextMenu anyway?)
And some kind of error message thingy opened when I first opened the World Map changer, but I accidentally pressed enter too fast... what did it say?
Other than that, I really love this new version ^^

so i start:

No, this wouldn’t work.
The problem for this „black-screen-bug“ is the offset the map is saved. (offset must end with on of 0,4,8 or C)
There are 4 types of this bug, I will say you the workaround for it.
- open your map
- go to the header view and activate the Settings->Professional Header view
- test the following 4 types and do what I say there.
1. The map bank is saved at a invalid address: (on Prof. header view the „Map bank offset“ is invalid (ends not on the correct one I listen above, Exp. ends on 2))
(on this error in the most case this type of the error will make each map black, if you change the map in the game/start new game)
- go to Tools->Change map bank->Re-locate map bank
- it should ask you for the bank number, the default is the bank of the actual map, so press [OK]
- it asks you for the space it should reserve
here you can insert the value you want, or “0” if no new “map space” is needed
and press [OK]
(- if you have deactivate the Settings->Automatically lock for offsets, you now must search a new offset with the re-locate window)
2. The map header is saved at a invalid address: (on Prof. header view the „Map header offset“ is invalid (ends not on the correct one I listen above, Exp. ends on 6))
- go to “insert map” on toolbar
- insert your map on a new position by using “Available space” or “Create new space”
(- if you have deactivate the Settings->Automatically lock for offsets, you now must search a new offset with the re-locate window)
this bank.map combination can not be used anymore
3. The map fooder is saved at a invalid address: (on Prof. header view the „Map footer offset“ is invalid (ends not on the correct one I listen above, Exp. ends on A))
- go to “insert map” on toolbar
- insert your map on a new position by using “Available space” or “Create new space”

this bank.map combination can not be used anymore

- go to “insert map” on toolbar
- choose the same bank/map number the map is save under “Replace map”
or
- insert your map on a new position by using “Available space” or “Create new space”
(- if you have deactivate the Settings->Automatically lock for offsets, you now must search a new offset with the re-locate window)

In AdanceMap 1.82 there was 2 text fields.
Each byte was on one text fields. (in the same order it is saved in the hexeditor)
For using a var number/value in a script you have to change the bytes in the old AdvanceMap => using 1234 in script, writing [34] [12], now you can write [1234]
So now you can write the number in the same way you write it in a scripteditor.

There is no Scripteditor in the AdvanceMap script.
You must download a Scripteditor.
After downloading, you can choose the scripteditor you want to use with in the menu: Settings->Choose script editor
If you use scripted as script editor you must copy the file rubikon.dat from scripted in the directory where the rom is.
(To use scripted, I have to run the script editor “in” the directory of the romfile, and scripted search the rubikon.dat file in the “run under” directory)

It says that "all ini files have to be placed in their directories and the respective sub directories" or something like that.
@All having this problem:
You must do what the message say.. therefore I have insert the message.
Check if you have a “ini”-directory under your AdvanceMap-directory.
If not, or the *.ini files aren’t in this directory do the follow:
Extract the zip files in the folders there are in the ini, do not extract all files in the same directory.
If you do so this error will disappear an AdvanceMap will work.

The AMKontextMenu is a part of the “right click“ menu, the Context menu from Windows.
There is a “AMKontextMenu.dll”-file in you AdvanceMap directory.
To activate/deactivate this new “tool” you must use the AdvaceMapMenu: Settings->Use AM context menu
There will only be new entries if you right click on an *.gba file.
I don't know why but I keep getting this message for certain maps:

when u insert a block tileset, some of ur tiles gets corrupted

but u cant see it in amap, u have to be in the game to see it

have you tried to change the map in the game.
For exampe fly to another city and walk back to that place where the error is?

Wow, it's awesome. Love the world map edition feautre. what does the change routine button do to the rom exactly? And what about fly/display flags? I get what they are but, will it allow me to add more putting my own flags? *gotta try it*. Shouldn't display flags -they're the dungeon's info thing, right?- have a pointer associated for the text or something like that? What does the flying position info contain? How does one control the dimensions of a route in the map (for example, most routes are 3 tiles long, or 3 tiles wide?
It's a lot of questions, I know, but well. Some of them I will figure them out later on when I mess with this.

That's because you have 2 excatly same colors in yours palette

i fixed the error of me but about pal 13,14,15 and even more they don't need to be removed there handy only not within am much with pal editing when editing in hex the colors come right without hex causes no good colors.

I found a glitch in advance map 1.90.
Instructions on how to reproduce the glitch:
Open up pokemon ruby.
Open up any map in the "from header" section.
Go to the "map files" section.
Go to testmap_absolut
It will come up with an end-of-file error
Now, go back to "from header" and click on a few of the maps. Some come up with errors, the rest are just messed up out of all recognition.
Hint: Don't save the ROM when it's like this!!

I love this. Thank you so much LU-HO and everyone who worked on this! It's got everything I wanted, and some things I hadn't realized I wanted until I looked at it!
I do have a question though, how exactly do I use the world map editor? I can't seem to get it to change anything. For example, I'll click on Pallet Town and change it's X and Y position in the little box, yet it doesn't move at all. Heck, I even tried to drag it. Same with the routes and such. How is it supposed to work?

I have a question regarding the Script Editor. I attempted to open it with Notepad++ to use it with my Add-on for PokeScript. However unknown characters in the editor would imply that the Script Editor should actually be called a Hex Editor?
If you could get back to me on what kind of Script or Hex Editor I should be using that would be great. As the name "Script Editor" has me confused.

Whenever you try to change the name of a map, it crashes the entire area if you just switched to it.
what do you mean with "rashes the entire area" i geht no error ...
I think that I can translate it into Chinese,I just need a word list
in AdvanceMap directory under /ini/Sprachen/ there are all language files.
copy the english (or an other) and translate to your language.

I found a glitch in advance map 1.90.
Instructions on how to reproduce the glitch:
Open up pokemon ruby.
Open up any map in the "from header" section.
Go to the "map files" section.
Go to testmap_absolut
It will come up with an end-of-file error
Now, go back to "from header" and click on a few of the maps. Some come up with errors, the rest are just messed up out of all recognition.
Hint: Don't save the ROM when it's like this!!
It seems there is e error in the loading routine für Mapfiles...

I do have a question though, how exactly do I use the world map editor? I can't seem to get it to change anything. For example, I'll click on Pallet Town and change it's X and Y position in the little box, yet it doesn't move at all. Heck, I even tried to drag it. Same with the routes and such. How is it supposed to work?
after changing the X and Y positon you must press Save Position.
if you would now start the rom and go to this town and open the map the curser will start at tne new position (this x/y data is only for this information...)
to change the data where the town/routes are, you must change the mapdata(Value or chombobox), not the namedata.
you must change the value for each x/y coordinate possibility on the map.
after saving the change your finished.

you must use a "script decompiler" a tool who can read the "hexdatas" and make "scriting command" from it. ScriptED work (if you coppy rubikon.dat in the dir where the rom is..) i haven't test much script editors with AM, becouse i know none of them ^^"

have try to use the same flag as on an other of the blue one? perhabs there are only a list of compatible flags... (I dont know)

u have to do that in cyclone..its not possible in amap1.9, it also says in the program that it only changes the data
cyclone is a little bit useless in this parts, open cyclone make a save then open it in a hex editor, changing the hex value would change the tile and thats the point, try changing the hex values and when your done, save it..!
The only thing that you gonna do is inserting it to the ROM(of course)..!
open your hex editor, load up your ROM and serch for an empty space(ff's or 00's) write down the offset(e.g. 00123ABC) then open unZL.GBA,load up your ROM and do "File - load RAW" select the RAW and click write to ROM, uncheck auto abord and fix pointers and change the offset with the new one.. then hit ok. go back to the hex editor, then search for 9C083F08(thats the original offset) before doing anything else, lets remove the first two zero's of the new offset and REVERSE it(e.g. 123ABC -> BC3A12) then change the original offset with that one [don't change the 08](e.g. 9C083F08 -> BC3A1208) save it and your Done..!

As you can see, the option is also disabled in this Version.
as i have say i the last versions:
- there are other points where are lists of data.
- this lists must be incrased also.
- for worldmap date we have found some lists, but thre must be more of them...
bevor i know all the lists, and there structure i cannot aktivate this option becouse it wouldnt work...

I think you should try to make for the next release;
a full world map editor (changing what it looks like not data but just changing )
and when you have linked a script editor in, a box should appear at the bottom of the events box showing what happens in the script.

i cannot say why this ouccure, becouse i don't know what you have do in this moment the error appears. and what you have change on the ROM allready.
the follow inforamtion i need:
- The error (AdvanceMap Error number if there are one, otherwise the error Message)
- rom type
- time/position where in AM this error occure (starting am, open rom, open, map[also need map number(original/changed/new map?)], open blockeditor ......... ?)
- do this occure also in a clean/new ROM?

hey i think advanced map is a great tool.. ive had advanced map 1.90 for a day and while i was changing the map dimensions of a map it decided to delete all of map bank 3 ? :S:S
very frustrating as i have been working on my a hack for a long time :(

Well, I'm trying the new version of AMap, and so far it's looking good and I'm sure it'll help everyone. I still have a lot to go to discover all the changes.
Right now I was testing the world map, and since all I need now is to, change the top and some of the bottom layers locations' positions, I had to make use of the "Change on the Routine" (dont worry, I'm testing on a clean FR), and, apparently, there's some kind of mistake on the modified routine, because, before changing the routine, I could change the PosX/Y of the stuff in the Bottom layer without problems (once you opened the world map the hero's head showed up where it was changed), but, after changing the routine, some routes stopped responding to the changes, and they always showed at the top left side of the map, and not only that, it's as if the area where you can move the selector was moved and you could end up with the selector way out of screen.
As I was testing with a clean FR on a recently started new game, I just could see this happening in Routes2 and 22. However, R1, and the two cities there (Viridian and Pallet) dont seem to have this problem.
Maybe you need to check something in the modified routine, M_X? ;P
(I dont think I'm doing something wrong, all I did was use the Change routine button, and then, those two routes were messed up while the other stuff remain correct)

Oh great. -.-" You're talking about FRUS V1.0 I guess? That's strange. I never had problems when I replaced the routines by my self-made ones. To be honest - I don't even understand what could be wrong since the new routines do exactly what the old ones did, they only are much easier to edit. =\

I know the Change Routine is a must, so I want to make sure it wont mess stuff for when I really have to use it. I'm trying on my old FR 1.0 (I'm bolding this phrase so people realize we need to test this Change Routine button)

I somehow screwed up a map's border width/length, so I re-pointed the border offset to a free space location, but now the border's width/length are still wrong. Whenever I try to enter Proheader mode with that map, I get the following error message:

Whenever I first turn off Proheader, then view the header, and then enable Proheader again, I can see all the offsets and stuff but I can't edit anything.
So, could anyone please tell me how to edit the border's width and height manually with a hex editor? I've tried many other ways to make the border look right in-game, but none of them has worked (by the way, I'm editing FR Viridian City).
(Btw, I think I screwed it up by editing the map's width/height in Proheader mode with AM 1.82).

Same here, with 1.0 rom.
Wasn't aware it worked right on some routes.
Although it doesn't worry me that much - yet.

What do you mean with Delete all Maps of map bank 3?
where do you change the map size? (normal-/ profi header view?)
PS: I hoe you have made backups as allbody say it.
never "test" a new tool if you havnt make a backup.
PS: perhabs you can use the File name: <romname>.bak be rename it to .gba
it is a automatet backup that AdvanceMap make befor each open of the Romfile...

to change the Border height in hexeditor make the "normal/profi header view" thing to see the offsets.
now take the offset "Map footer offset" go to the Hexeditor at this offset+24 (18 hex) there the border width and height is written (one byte each)
PS: in the original FR eng it would be the Offset $2DE3E4

Instead of having to puzzle-together the whole object, why not just make "presets" of various objects and have the ability to select the whole thing and just place it onto the map? Is this possible? Could it be? I'm just throwing ideas around...
but I simply cherish these improvements! You guys are my Pokémon Renegade heroes!

go to the blockeditor the behavior bytes, there you should se thw value you must use on your block (use the same that are used on the grass) i'm not sure, but think that should make what you need.

Hey, I was just scripting and mapping a map in my fire red rom. I finished mapping etc so after that I clicked on all edited maps to see if they are all alright (Since I keep getting that stupid Advanced Map Error(2): cannot read bytes behind.......) so I went to my 2nd edited city (viridian) and then suddenly 8 popups came which screwed my map. I noticed alot of errors with: $701AE0 IS NOT A POINTER (something like that.) But I remembered the offset because I was trying to do something with the flypaths, and I remember one of them was $701AE0 or something..
To be Exact I received these errors:
AdvancedMapError (5): The value for $71ACF4 Is not a pointer!
AdvancedMapError (5): The value for $71ACF8 Is not a pointer!
AdvancedMapError (5): The value for $71ACFC Is not a pointer!
AdvancedMapError (5): The value for $71AD00 Is not a pointer!
AdvancedMapError (5): The value for $71B9FC Is not a pointer!
AdvancedMapError (1): Try to read pos at 1 (5 times)

I have almost same problems that frank$or has, and it's getting annoying (7 ROMs messed up this way. Thank God that those were only test ones). I have sent you a PM. And I forgot to mention the thing about "the value ... is not a pointer" error, it came up in my AM, too. Can you do something with it? And please, remove the Slovak translation till I complete the redone one. Cause I need to shorten strings plus fix mixed ones. Thanks.

When you create a new level script in a map that doesn't have any pre-existing level scripts the buffer (0000 at the end of the level script) is not created. This causes the game to freeze after the level script has finished. Also, when you choose any of the Hiddens in the Movement Type box the first hidden is always chosen. The first hidden is buggy because when you make it appear using the movement raw 61 and then use pausemove on it it disappears.

first of all let me say i love this new release =D
but i have a problem loading maps with specific tilesets (celadon city tileset, tileset 61 with forest entrance)
it'll come up saying parameter error
when i go into elite map and change those problematic tilesets for others i know work, when i go into advancemap and load the map with the changed tileset it loads and works fine

You must use a scripteditor that is able to decompile scripts from the ROM!
PokeScript is not able to do...
You must download a scriptDECOMPILER. (like ScriptED, this tool is tested and work with AdvanceMap)
After downloading, you can choose the scriptDECOMPILER you want to use with in the menu: Settings->Choose script editor
If you use scripted as script editor you must copy the file rubikon.dat from scripted in the directory where the rom is.
(To use scripted, I have to run the script editor “in” the directory of the romfile, and scripted search the rubikon.dat file in the “run under” directory)

I've read the README.txt but it says that youcan only do it for one tile and paste the one tile on all blocks that are connecting the same block.
Is there a way, or will you implant it in future versions?

hold CTRL and Left mouse botton and right mouse botton at the same time dragover the tiles u want then let go once u have them

Than you haved read good enought:
Map view:
------------
Left mouse button => Draw current block / Stamp.
Middle mouse button => Fill tool, replace all connected blocks of the same type with another.
Right mouse button => Select hovered block as current.
Ctrl/Strg + Left mouse button => Draw current block.
Ctrl/Strg + Middle mouse button => Fill tool, replace all connected blocks of the same type with another.
Ctrl/Strg + Right mouse button => Select big block, on click and select the selected area will be shown in a new window.
after the big block (tree) is selectet you can paint/stamp it.
you can alos copy part of maps with this tool from one to a other map.
this selection wor also on block palette:
Map view - Block palette:

Ctrl/Strg + Middle mouse button => Select hovered block as current.

my a-map died after I was editing some things in my fr rom-it showed all the maps massed up,so I closed it and chacked the rom.It was alright.So I tried opening up am again and I get this error-stack overflow

hm... 2 possibillitis:
1. The error can be fixed by reboote of you computer.
2. the Rom have somewere a glitch you dont see at the moment you start the rom in an Emulator...

Whatever happened to manual repointing when you want to enlarge a map? I tried to enlarge 0.0 (Petalburg Ctiy) to a 64x64 map size, and it gave me a "Advancemap Error (4) cannot change bytes at end of file". I'm thinking it may have something to do with repointing, any suggestions?

This error occure if AdvanceMap try to save data "behind" end of file, behind the 16MB of the rom. this is not possible and therefore this error occure.
perhaps you give advancemap a offset it sould save the new map, that is not possible, or there are some other errors in you rom...

That will render useless because all you have to do is make a berry tree tile, and make scripts for each one.

I mean the berries in RSE, that can be picked and
replanted again and watered, those sort of berries all have the same offset,
it would be good if they can edited. I just can't edit them in RSE.

umm hey look this looks great and all and i dunno if i am covering a topic already brought up but i cant be stuffed looking thorugh all 5 pages or but when i run the advanced map thingy it launches and lets me selct language i go to agreement i agree but then thats it it odesnt open the program up so i try again and same thign happens like a cycle o well any help would be appreciated umm i can rember this happening with the last release and i cant rember how i fixed it btw 1.82 is doing same thing now as well. thanks in advanced

How do you edit the border? I changed the outside of Pallet Town to be rock, but I can't change beyond what's on the screen while I'm editing it. Is there a way to switch what the border is beyond the screen?

How could that be solved!?

I might just make my own AdvanceMap just to challenge myself. I've made other map editors before so this shouldn't be beyond the realm of the impossible. I also told Kawa I was going to make a new EliteMap.

you can change the border in the map view of AdvanceMap, it ist at tob right, over the Blockpaletts. You can just paint there as you paint in the map.

Yeah, I decided to release source code. Feel free to create derivate works from it, as long as you clearly give me credits of my code and make available the sourcecode of derivative programs or programs where you used parts of my code. The new map engine is so good in my opinion, that it would be waste if it was only used in one program. So feel free to use it for creating map editors for other games.

I had that cannot read bytes beyond end of file thing happen. I was editing a map and I saved it, and then when I went to edit another map the map I went to edit became corrupted. All of my events on that map were set to 0,0 with everything zeroed out. I put them back in and saved and reopened the map and they were erased again.

hi, This is my first post on these boards, And I only decided to begin researching on pokemon hacking yesterday, so it's safe to say I'm a total n00b. Anyway, I dl'd A-map and tried to open a rom I have of Leaf Green, And everytime I do the program just freezes and I have to shut it down, then the window pops up saying it wasn't responding properly. I tried many different ROM files but the same thing happens.
Anyone know what I should be doing here?

By Pressing the "open Script" button or double click the event.
but you must first select a Scripteditor(respectively a script DECOMPILER):
Menu settings->choose script editor

I have windows XP. 1gb RAM, I hardly have any other programs open whilst attempting to open the ROM. I mean, how long is a while? Cos i was only waiting for like..1 and a half minutes or something. Guess I should just leave it to load?

It shouldn't go very long.
i would try to wait longer, and with a clean rom.
the strange thing is, on my old pc (don't work any more...) it take the half that it take on my new one, and the new is 5 times faster...
on the old one i have winXP SP1, on the new one it is winXP SP2 perhaps that is the thing....

I am having an error opening a map I saved like Megiddo is.
I open the map and it gives me an error of "AdvanceMapError(2): Cannot read bytes behind end of file! Please contakt luhpoke@gmail.com"
When I click Ok the error comes up again and then the maps appears with all events at 0,0.

I'm work on a BugFix version for AM at the moment.
I found out the problem why the "AdvanceMapError(2): Cannot read bytes behind end of file!" error occurs.
The error is in the Map resize function. It overwrite data form other Maps or the Event data...
therefore:
do not use the Resize function in AdvanceMap 1.90
The function delete your data in the Rom and your data are lost, no possibility to get the data back!
I will release the BugFix version as soon as possible.

The map itself is still fine just the events are messed up.
So with the new fix if I remake the events will that map then be ok to still use? Or should I remake the map?

if yes then the Problem is the BorderBlock size...
you must change to the Header view, change to the professional Header view (Ctrl+H) and than you can change there the Block height and Block width to 2 and 2. and press the save button. that this error should be fixed.

- On Repointing Header, there will be added a EndMark.
-> BugFix for the Bug: when insert 11. Maps the whole new Bank/increased Bank disappear.
- a check if Borderblock in FR/LG is to big/not set.
-> BugFix for the Bug: bei zu Grossem RandBlock kommt AdvanceMapError(8): Cannot read XX Bytes in a Array with the size of 51! ...'
- The Resize function now work correctly -_-"
-> BugFix for the Bug: when you resize a Map, to much data will deleted. this bug is the reasen for the most AdvanceMapError 2 and 4 and could delete parts of other Maps/Events or other data!
- The Grid on BlockPalette is fixed.

A Map 1.9 is only good for editing maps- A Map 1.82 proves to be better at MAKING maps. It's really glitchy when I make a new map, worse than opposite colours- the numbers have randomly changed (58,32,60 to 175,211,46). That's why I barely trust Amap 1.9- especially if you're a beginner hacker.

in the same day that you posted I downloaded!
and as I spoke... I just changed a tree and all of the events of another map disappeared...
But I still go test her again to see to check if it doesn't happen the same mistake!

1. choose your map
2. change to Header View
3. Press Settings in menü
4. choose Professional Header View (so it is checked like in the Image)
now the view in the part at right will look like it is on the image
5. change Border width to 2
6. change Border height to 2
7. Press the "Save change and reload map" button
finished. now your problem should not be there anymore... if it is the problem i think...

I'm writing something that is able to read the map file that your program is able to save,
Now it was quite easy to locate where the map size is stored,
And i thought also quite easy to locate the Tile and place it on the map,
But it seems not though.
When i load your map file of lets say "PALLET TOWN",
The tree's surounding the village show normaly,
And some grass + 3 signs also,
But the rest seems to be all a mess and i'm not quite sure why.
Also some of the data between the map size and map actual data i dont know what its for.
So i was hoping you could tell me what it means and why it doesnt show correct.
I really hope you can explain it to me,

Well, for the moment i haven't found any bug on AM 1.91.

Hello, I just downloaded the new version of A-map, and I known that searching through code gets tiresome(being a somewhat experienced programmer myself), but is there anything preventing this from working on windows 98 SE?
1.82 works, but when I load a ROM into 1.91 and choose a map, it gives me a message box which reads:
"The parameter is incorrect".
then when i mouse over one of the buttons at the top(like the load ROM button) it spits back:
"Canvas does not allow drawing".
I have tried with different ROM's and this is always the out-put.
any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

I just edited an ONLY tree of a ROUT 02... and ROUT 01 was defective!!
All disappeared the events! PEOPLE, SCRIPTS, SINGPOSTS WARPS..... everything disappeared!!
It was not only happened with me... but I will reinstall him and to test again!
If no... I will continue with same AMAP1.82! XD
(excuse for bad English, I am Brazilian)
strange, that had happened to my fire red rom a while back.
i think mine was due to the old version though.

You do know that the forum has a nice edit feature that you can use,
So you dont have to create a other post.
And have you tried reading all 7 pages,
Since one of those can include and probably does,
A fix or a explanation as to why it does what it does for you.

Hmm...
You said that the resizing problem is fixed in 1.91.
I resizen LAVANDIA (Lavender Town), it said
"Cannot read bytes behind end of the file. Please contact...." and that sh**.
But nothing happened! My map didn't crash! :):):):):)

That animation editor has been since version 1.90, but both versions only edit
behavior and background bytes there hasn't been a proper block animation editor yet unfortunatly...
because I've downloaded it and I can't see something like that. Sorry! :nervous:

I'm writing something that is able to read the map file that your program is able to save,
Now it was quite easy to locate where the map size is stored,
And i thought also quite easy to locate the Tile and place it on the map,
But it seems not though.
When i load your map file of lets say "PALLET TOWN",
The tree's surounding the village show normaly,
And some grass + 3 signs also,
But the rest seems to be all a mess and i'm not quite sure why.
Also some of the data between the map size and map actual data i dont know what its for.
So i was hoping you could tell me what it means and why it doesnt show correct.
I really hope you can explain it to me,

Well i got a ahead a bit but it still confuses me since when i load a diffrent tileset for a diffrent map the values dont work anymore,

Using this i am able to show PALLET TOWN fully.
Still hope you can explain this all to me and how the rom shows a top layer since your app seems to make it look like it doesn't have any..
Like walking under a tree you can see yourself standing under it not ontop.

Can somebody help me? when i try to download any advance map above 1.50 it gives me the ewf file(which i think your not supposed to get), i dont know how to fix this issue(and i have tried everthign).Is there something i can do to download it(because nothing is working)?

Hello, I just downloaded the new version of A-map, and I known that searching through code gets tiresome(being a somewhat experienced programmer myself), but is there anything preventing this from working on windows 98 SE?
1.82 works, but when I load a ROM into 1.91 and choose a map, it gives me a message box which reads:
"The parameter is incorrect".
then when i mouse over one of the buttons at the top(like the load ROM button) it spits back:
"Canvas does not allow drawing".
I have tried with different ROM's and this is always the out-put.
any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

do you use a old windows? or a new one (Win2000 or above)?
if it is a old one, i cannot help you.
the old windows handle some things other then the new one. and i do not know why this errors came...

The problem is fixed, so it will not damage more of your Maps/data. but if you have already damaged Maps, they are damaged, and i can nothing do, as i say on the info Post about the Bug.

Sorry, no idea. AdvanceMap isn't supporting winME/win98/win95...
if any version of AdvanceMap work on your old Windows your have luck...

Lu-HO, I still get the Advance map two error. Ive cycled through a variety of roms from emerald to numerous fire reds and I just cant seem to shake It. I never get much past editing pallet town when I try to edit a map to insert another building in the town I cant without causeing the error. Very disheratening. WOuld I be better of with a previous version?

The new version is here AdvanceMap 1.92.
It is also a Bugfix Version, but have also some new functions.
Changes:
- it takes the right ini entry 12170 not 1217 for the description of Transaprency question.
- There is new a Chinese and Korean Languagefile.
- The italien languagefile is updated.
- there will no longer be an AMError 4 on resize a map without save the changes first.
(- the amount of Blocks in Emerald Tileset 40 corrected.)
- The Amount of Blocks will now be calculated (difference between Blockdata and Behaviordada). On decrase the Amount this will not work correctly therefore the <Romname>.ini is still required. (the Tileset.ini's isn't still required, but for be save i will not delete them for the moment.)
(there could be problems, if some one repoint the data in hexeditor, because of the form how i calculate it.)
- on people events there will now be better description for one field: View radius/Plant-ID.
- Now it will occure an AdvanceMapError 12 if you open an invalid RomType.
- there is now a %-bar on Encounter radio of wildpokemons.
- on Mapscripts i will use only an 1 Byte EndMarker. (to prevent of override data.)
- improved the handling of EventHeader.
- fixed bugs and improved the Map-replace and map-insert functions.
- the palettes for Tilesets can now saved/loaded in different file formats.
- there is now also a great-block function for the Blockeditor (also here its the keystroke Ctrl+right click)
- new options for recent files (under settings)
