SUPER SPOILER HINT, DON't READ UNLESS DESPERATE AFTER 7th GYM!!!!:
How to get Strength: Go back to Merson city, go into the backpacker's hotel, and by now you are able to go inside the Spa. You must have rock smash, go into the guy's side, and go rocksmash over to the girl's side, to find the goggles. Now go to the Egaleou park, and go to the cave north-west, and you will soon find STRENGTH. How to get MIST STONE and get to 8th GYM: First get waterfall hM in Rijon tunnel, on top of Botan surf left at the creek, and go up, arrive the ice place. And inside the same place, there is a waterfall, go use waterfall to find nina. After you find her, get out and Fly back to Botan, and go down to the bridge, surf right, to find Reed Game Shack. Go in, and dialogue, and Haunted forest is available. and u go to the cycling road, and it will be open now. and rest is very easy have fun. Note:Pokeflute could be obtained from the ghost at the grave on top of the game shack, the women who is reflected, so get it before u go cycling road.

If no error code pops up when you attempt to do a normal save (if you use VBA), you're fine.

To get to Haunted Forest, you need Waterfall. Explore the cave south of Botan City (by surfing).

this isnt the 3rd gym, the 3rd gym is in the next town, and try to train one pokemon only, or you will never keep up with the levels of opponents.

Give you an idea? Now, that would be no fun. And, to be honest, we barely made it through alive. Does that give you a good enough hint?

To be truthful, it is quite easy to train more than one Pokémon, so long as you battle through all of the wild Pokémon. Heck, I kept up five Pokémon above the levels for a little while. The later Gyms are also accessible in the original. They did that with FireRed, too. Didn't you notice that you could just skip the third badge and move onto the fourth if you wanted to?

Actually, this guy is right. ^^ Not to say that you're not usually right :D

Certain Pokémon are more difficult to train than others, and some are much easier to train. The know-how to battle isn't required so much, but if you're behind on levels, then knowing how to battle Gym Leaders effectively can be extremely helpful.

And, if anyone sees anything odd or strange, (like wild level 1 Goldeens roaming free near Powerline Road XD) feel free to PM me with the problem. It'd be cool if we could get this perfect. Or if you need help with something, my Live Messenger account is up there, next to my name and stuff. ^^

EDIT: I have found a few major problems with the current locale of our cameos. It seems that somehow, the scripting got a wee bit off. :D

Anywho, I'll set to work on it tomorrow. All of you who've stumbled upon our secret location, please do not enter it until I create a new patch for you all. And besides, I have a little more to add to our cameos.. ^_^

I can't believe the rarity of some of the Pokemon in this game. I spent 10 minutes searching for a Pinsir in the Mt. Boulder Range, and I'm looking for a Zangoose in the haunted forest entrance which is equally rare. No luck yet, and I wannta the Zangoose.
EDIT: I found it about 40 seconds after posting this. In all it took 15 minutes to find!
Great hack so far, I'm up to the Moraga gym, but that Sceptile is one tough customer.

The status screen went totally blank, this was after I attempted to grab an item from my Dugtrio which I deposited. I'm using the Squirrels ROM, so it probably isn't my ROM, but I'm not sure. If it helps, the text also disappears when I click A on a pokemon, there was no option to pick it up or look at it's summary. Odd.

I downloaded that ROM because I was assured it was clean, apparently it's the one that was used for the hack. Besides, UPS patchers detect unclean ROMs anyway, so I really doubt that it'd be unclean.

Don't forget, the method I used, training only but a Charizard got me through it... and since when did you beat rijonAdventuresX? I didn't know that =O
And problems with Cameo, I never tested it myself but I'll be sure to check it out and hopefully release a more stable version for you all to patch onto your previous one.

Are you playing the X version or the original? There might be a difference.

Btw, here are some errors I ran across, my apologies if they have already been stated.

1) In the mailbox there's a message saying: "If you're nearby, come home for a while.". The very end part of the message is off the screen on the far right so that only the "whi" part of "while" can be seen.

2) When using fly in castro forest or eagolou park, the player's icon in the fly screen is where viridian forest and the safari zone were in FRLG.

3) Trainer "Sis and Bro Lia and Luc" at the Rijon Strait have spaces after their name, which causes the next word to be spaced far to the right of it.

4) Bird Keeper Roger has spaces (many more so than 3)) after his name. He's on the first island to the west of southedge bay.

5) At Talrus Foothill, after the guy that checks for the white badge there's a tile in the southeast with a sitrus berry that doesn't have the standard shadow on the ground signifying a berry's there.

6) Said by an old man in a building on the west side of Owsauri: "Owsauri is popular for it's game corner. But Moraga is great for it's beer." If one wants to be a grammar nazi, it's "its" instead of "it's".

7) Caitlyn from the Mt. Boulder Range that gives you a Water Stone does so ad infinitum. One can leave the area via the building to the left or the cave to the north, and then return to her to get yet another Water Stone.

8) I'm not sure if this is a bug, but on the map the path south of Jaeru City has no title even though it's shaded like a road, as it should be two tiles to the left, as that's where the path in game really is.

Other Thoughts:
The difficulty level after gym leaders 3 or 4 rises incredibly, which is entertaining for a challenge. Also, the design of the gym where all the trainers were invisible was very inventive. It left me rather dissapointed when I went to battle in the gym with the leader who uses dark types, since it consisted of nothing more than just the leader. I look forward to future improvements to this this hack.

There's an plan to - except, I'll need to keep a list. Pokémon that can evolve only with an RTC (Eevee) will be required to be traded to a game with an RTC - pretty easy with VBALink. Same with most traded Pokémon, though I HAVE attempted to slip a Poliwhirl + King's Rock somewhere. And a Clamperl, too.

I have started playing this hack, and I must say - this is really amazing, one of the best romhack - in a long time that I have played. The last time I played a very perfect well done hack was in 2004, and I'm sure you know it - Coolboyman's original Pokemon Brown. So yeah, I am still playing this game, and i am looking forward to replay Brown in version 2.0 that he would release it soon. Hopefully next Friday as it will mark the 5 years anniversary since the original release date of Brown - Friday, 16th January 2004.

Anyways, I have noticed a small error - in the town map. Please hover over the two squares below Jaeru City, above Castro Field - I believe you have forgotten to add the text string for something? There are a few tiles errors. I am sure you can view it. Please let me know, if you need a screenshot just to be sure.

If you don't use save states, then yes, you will be able to transfer your save file over.

I tried this out and it seems like a great hack. Ive got a couple of questions.

Is there a pokedex of all the pokemon in this game and their areas? I want to know to start building up my main team. (Would I be able to evolve Golbat into Crobat or would I need the National Dex for that, like in FR and LG?)

Also, how do I save? When I try to save, it says that the save was a success or whatever, but then when I play the rom again it isnt there. D:

You can get a Crobat, yes. You have to meet May on the way to the second gym, first.

I managed to get prof jen to give me the parent thing, don't know how...beat the elite four again, got my pokedex to 50 species, went back to prof jen, she checked my pokedex again then gave me the parent note thing...and things progressed as they should from there.

Maybe go capture more pokemon for a while? I also checked my pokedex rating using the computer before going back to prof jen, might help, but again i don't see how any of those things would activate the event, but they did =).

Best hack i've played!

But one question, where the hell do you get EXP.Share from? I've seen it before, some guy said i needed to catch 50 pokemon. Well i did now, and i cant seem to find him anymore.

EDIT: LOL, i was randomly walking around, and guess who i bumped into? :o Lugia!

He's in silk tunnel, there's a place where there's 2 rocks to smash, smas them then surf, go up the waterfall and from there its self explanatory. Save before fighting with him, he's pretty hard to catch.

EXP Share is located somewhere in a passage way between areas.....The Professors Aid resides up the stairs in the building, you must collect 50 or more pokemon to receive the EXP Share from him.

OK, so i have beaten 7 gym leaders, including the psychic chick , but when i look at my player profile, it shows the first 5 badges obtained, and the 7th badge obtained, but not the Psi Badge, The 6th Badge. I have already beaten her, and she says " I heard Sheral's father owns a hotel in Merson city, which would naturally lead you into the Merson Spa, after obtaining the Psi badge, which then you'll receive the HM Rock Smash within.....It seems like the game isnt giving me the Psi Badge, so i cant continue without Rock Smash. I have the knowledge as to where the HM's Strenght, and Waterfall are.....but i cant continue the game without Rock Smash. Any way anyone can help me out????

If only i had rock smash, i could continue on, but im just using the VS Seeker for now, battleing and levling up my pokemon.

BTW - The 6th Gym Leader is at the end of the peer in front if the building in her gym right?

It means your save cannot be done with the F1 to F10 keys.

you probably have to enter in a escape rope gameshark code to get it then use it to get out... only thing i can think of :s cause i think the same thing happens when your at the lugia place.

Yes umbreon and espeon are catchable only in eagalu park...luckly for me, i just saved stated right when they popped up, and reset until i finally cought them.

BTW, im playing this rom on my gpSPhone which is an emulator for the iphone. Is there any way to use a gameshark in my situation, because i am now indefinetly saved at a freeze point at the silph warehouse.

I loved pokemon Prism, and I decided to download this (the 2009) patch and I got so confused with the .ups system. I read all the tutorials you have up and I can't seem to patch it correctly D:. Btw, I'm on a mac. I used the mac patcher, I applied the patch, and it just doesn't seem to work. I really want to play, but all I'm getting is the original fire red... Should I not change the name on the original gba rom? please help! (If any other mac users have the same problem, or have figured it out, I'd love to know what to do here...)

From what I've seen in the version I've gotten to work on the VBA, it looks awesome! (I've just been making savestates as I can't properly save due to the Error 00001) I've been trying to get it to work for my two flashcarts (Cyclo and Acekard 2i) but I haven't managed to get rid of the error that doesn't allow me to save (even though I've got a RAM GBA pack to alow for needed space)

I've also downloaded or worked with the base game (being Fire Red) multiple times with no luck...so if anyone would be able to assist me in figuring out what I'm doing wrong that would be wonderful!

You get Hm04 Strength from a guy in Hayward City who's looking for his camera. His camera is somewhere in Eagulou Park. You'll need the Go-Googles to get to that part of the park which are located in the Spa in Merson City.

The 7th Gym is near Equality River. There are two ways to get there. You can go to Moroga Town and go through the City Underpass. You'll end up at the Southedge Bay. Then Surf right, go through the grass and you'll see the gym. Another way is to go through the Castro Forest. There's a pond that you can surf across in the southern part of the forest. Keep making your way south and eventually you'll come out at the Equality river. Surf across the river and you should see the gym.

The Christmas beta was never IPS, and can never be made into an IPS patch. Read the "Read me" for how to patch.

oh it was the november beta that was ips.

i read the readme, patched the ups to the rom but ups the final patched rom by ups is twice as big as the original rom( 32mb's), and freezes at the gameboy screen on my ezflash 4. but the ips november version worked and was only 16mb's.

The final patched ROM is 32 MB, so that's no error. It should load in VisualBoyAdvance, at least. You might need to patch the ROM using the tools provided with your flash cart.

Hello, well I have more of a question on this.
Btw, this hack so far is pretty good. Im playing it on my PSP and Ive actually sat for a 5hrs playing it. Anyways onto my question. Im using the x-Mas release and since the game cannot save via the ROM method Im using save states. Im quite far into the game. Is there no way I can use my save state? Normally, when Im hacking in my game I would take my character to a map that would not be affected by the new material being edited, if I saved state my char in char's bedroom would that work?

Edit: I read that post up a bit, I agree i have seen some similarities, i have also noticed what appears to me to be the exact same as Nintendo's FR scripts for the rival? For instance when heading to Bill's place you meet rival on bridge well his script (movements, etc) are identical, most of the rivals scripts appear to me to be the exact same. Dont get me wrong this hack is worth playing def. worth playing. Oh! and the music? What tracks are different. I may not have been paying attention but I cant tell whats new....

hey, i found a bug that i'm pretty sure wasn't reported because i did a quick search of the thread and didn't see it. of course, its entirely possible that my searching skills suck, or that i'm just doing something wrong, but here :P

so i got to the haunted forest and i ran into the team rockets. i walked right in the space between the priest and the rockets, and talked to the priest. they did their little talk... and that was it. nothing more happens. i can get them to do the talk as many times as needed... but thats it. i don't know if this is a bug or if i'm just missing something really obvious.

Just wanted to say how much fun I've been having with this game. Doing a search through the thread now as I'm having the hardest time trying to find HM05 (Flash) cause I know I've seen it and I've backtracked for at least 3 hours looking for things. (searched up to page 17 so far)

But yes, it works great on my Cyclo and once I get my save error fixed (error #6, I believe) I'll find a way back to the library to post what error I found (as I want to get the name of the city and exact location correct)

You can find a large chunk of pokemon, but most of these are RBY pokemon. There are various pokemon from 2nd and 3rd gen with the option of catching three familiar birds.

Trading Evolutions have not been modified, so you have to resort to playing it on a flashcard or using a linkable emulator, such as VBA Link or NO$GBA.

Thanks to checking the main site, I learned that my save error wasn't a huge thing for my flash cart. XD (Serves me right for not double-checking things)

Anyways, onto those errors I found. In the city with the second gym, the first house (it has a sign outside it) next to the Zigzagoon girl makes the game crash when you either enter the house or try to read the sign.

Also, Odor Sleuth is spelled wrong when it is used in the game. I believe the spelling that comes up is "Odor Slueth" or something to that effect. (If I wasn't using my DS as the emulator, I'd attempt to get you screenshots or save states if it will help)

Other than that, things seem to be working out nicely in the game (other than the fact that my team needs some major rearranging to work out alright. :D )

Hello, I just beat the game and I have some considerations ( feel free to refute me with good words, if you know what I mean ;) )

1 - The biggest issue in this game, imo, is definately the hardness to make a good and consistent team, as there are very few pokemon to be caught during the various stages of the game, but mainly in the beggining/middle;

2 - What the hell is that gym leader's Sceptile ? I had to postpone it and still it was soooooooo hard to kill it, but if we didnt have the problem number 1, this one could be a cool thing =)

3 - Since it seems everyone ( including myself ) is too lazy to make a pokemon location guide for this game, why not make at least make a legendary location one ? I myself only found zapdos and articuno, where are the others ?

Go to Moraga and get the Zigzagoon Mail they have at their store, then go to Owsauri and give the Mail to the girl above the Pokemon Center (she's with a Zigzagoon)

Don't know why you'd need it. It's always too time-consuming to try to win coins IMO

It was pretty intense, lol, but I mainly stuck to using Aerodactyl to get the hits in, leveled up Kadabra and Cubone and switched out my Fire pokes (Charmeleon and Arcanine) after quick hits since that mother loved spamming Earthquake. I beat the Jaeru gym before that, though.

This game is great so far, i have 7 gym badges, all hm's but waterfall, and two of the legendary birds (just now got strength, so i still have some new places to check out, a big one i'm interested in is the one spot in the rijon tunnel :P). i also have over 140 pokemon so far (i am bookin'!), which is really awesome.

now, some bugs i have found:

karpman's sister, in the area north of his gym, gives you a water stone if you obtain his badge, and one would expect it to end there, but if you leave the area and return (such as into the building she is near), she will give yet another water stone. in fact, this is repeatable as many times as wanted, and since each sells for 1050 poke, one could make as much money as they wanted.

if you capture articuno, after the battle, it would normally disappear, becoming permanantly gone. however, instead of disappearing, he remains, where you can fight, and catch it again in an infinate loop. like usual, however, if it is defeated, or you flee, it will disappear (tested by me). if i remember correctly, zapdos, my other caught bird, does disappear when caught, but i can recheck to see otherwise (though i would have noticed >_>).

some people say things that are from the original fire red game, such as the guy in the rijon tunnel who talks about needing flash for rock tunnel, people in the water east of Eagulou speaking as if they were right at seafoam islands (as well as similar things from people in the rijon strait). there are many places like this all around, but it is to be expected without starting from scratch :P.

a brid trainer on a beachy area out in the water east of Eagulou has an oddity in his battle - his name appears, followed by a large quantity of spaces, then the usual wants to battle/sends out xxx/was defeated messages. my guess is that you acidentally put in blank spaces after his name, or a random bug in whatever you used. nothing big, and first one i noticed thus far.

on the path to the elite four (only made it to the last person before rejection :P) there is a full restore in a patch where a berry should be, and a berry in a blank space elsewhere, so my guess is you put them in the wrong spaces?

on the same note, i noticed that there are a good deal of hidden items that cannot be picked up, such as the items in the city underpass. i first noticed this when finding a berry spot north of the spot where that team rocket guy denies you access to the bulding (you must surf to reach this place), in the botan outskirts (actually in forest gate, but is linked to the outskirts). i opened up advance map, and there IS supposed to be an item there (a pamtre berry), but it is not able to be gotten, and so i decided to look at other maps i had been to, and found a great deal more items like it. i fiddled around with the advance map, and found that setting the talk height to always usually allowed me to grab them, though some still would not be fixed. i do not know if these items are meant to be unincluded, or if it is just my game that is not allowing me to grab them, but i just wanted to include them as well (if you want, i can find all of the locations that i encountered this problem so the next release can be fixed).

not a big deal, but some of the warps in advance map lead to somewhere TOTALLY different than intended, but the in-game warps work fine. i do not remember an example of which, as they appear in random places, but still happen to me.

NOTE: the item and warp odities could be a result of me having advance map loaded with the rom WHILE i am playing it, so they may not be something that happens to anyone but me, would be best for someone else to check this out.

some of the mail has oddities involved as well - the initial mail i recieved regarding karpman said his first name was kevin, while the one after the seventh gym said something totally different (at least i think it was kevin, though i could have just read it really fast... still best to check), and i forgot to beat the sixth gym, and continued on in the game, with my newly aquired surf, at the time, eventually coming upon the seventh gym, which i beat. i checked the mail, and recieved some strangeness galore there :P. the first being karpman's name, the second, in your dad's message, some of the text is cut off at the end of one of the lines (i am guessing it should be "while." not "whi"), third, my rival said his dad wanted something with me (went to check... and nothing happened), and finally, sheral mailed me saying things as if i had already beaten her, which i had not. probably happened because you did not expect the seventh to be done before the sixth, but it did happen :P. also, after finishing the sixth, my rival's dad still had nothing he wanted me for, so i am either missing something, or my save is screwed O.O (also, the sixth gym was much harder than the seventh...).

these are the bigger things i have found that have bugged me, but other than these, everything else is working beautifully. i just wanted them to be listed here, so that if they are not already known, they can be fixed for a later version, as that is what betas are for, right :P. oh, and thanks for this great hack, one of the best i have played so far!

oh, and zado, if i knew what the rarity of each pokemon slot in advance map was, i would compile a BIG list of the pokemon, as it is what i am using to find all of the pokemon. with only my main six evolving, and a few evolutions of already owned pokemon captured, i now have 144 pokemon, 66 of which are rijon (R/B/Y) pokemon, and i am just after the seventh gym! if someone could give me the rarity (i know that the lower the slot number is in advance map, the higher the chance of finding the pokemon, i just do not know the exact chances), i would put a list together for everybody.

I'm having this problem as well, but I feel as though I've been everywhere. I have no clue where I'm supposed to go now. 7 badges, Waterfall, talked to the girl looking for Lugia, talked to Prof Jen after getting 60 pokes but she didn't do anything. Rivals dad didn't do anything either. I've even caught all three legendary birds.

The only place I think I haven't been (where I could potentially go) is the Rocket Warehouse and yet I still am unable to get rid of those Rocket Grunts in the haunted forest.

There is one criticism I have with this game: too much outside help is required. You need to have someone give you clues or to tell you where to go, otherwise people get lost and frustrated. Also, when the lady Rocket Grunt gives you Sludge Bomb, instead I feel she should run away and drop it. It makes no sense for her to just give it to you.

I'd be guessing that rijonAdventures doesn't patch through enough of the ROM to render it fully unplayable, since patching only overrides what code I've changed. He must've also completely ignored the checksum. oO

Battle:
First off, Kelvin took on Ronan's Slaking. Started ff with Flamethrower whch burned it, but got hit by Facade. Blast Burned it's ass in revenge. Switched to Uzumaki to take on Aggron. Initial Hydro Pump missed and it used Iron Defence. 2nd time's a charm ^_^. Sent out Kelvin to fight Salamence. Dragon Clawed it but it used Substitute afterwards. Took down Substitute with anoher Dragon Claw but got Crunch'd. With 1 HP left, Kelvin got one last Dragon Claw in and KO's Salamence. Switched to Ryuu to battle Tyranitar. Got in a Hydro Pump, but Tyr used Dragon Dance and then Thunderbolted Ryuu to 7HP and paralysed him. Got a lucky Hydro Pump and attacked its weak point for massive damage. Back to Uzumaki against Steelix, but missed a Hydro Pump and got Crunch'd. Same thing happened again before OHKOing it with a 3rd Hydro Pump.Victoly!! Star Bsdge=Mine.

1.- How can I get the National Pass?

2.- Where is the HM 05 Flash?

3.- I have the 1, 2, 4 and 6 Badge. What Leaders Give you the 3 and 5 Badges?

I'd be guessing that rijonAdventures doesn't patch through enough of the ROM to render it fully unplayable, since patching only overrides what code I've changed. He must've also completely ignored the checksum. oO

Well, I have a problem Saving the Game.

When I'm in the menu en choose Save, the game soys me this:
'Error Code: 00003'
'Cannot save the Game'.
'The requires save memory is not in use'
And the pag of the game.
What I can do?

I think you need the 4th badge (Moraga Town) to use Surf. To get to Castro Valley, go south of Botan City. To get to Castro Field, go through Castro Forest. (So many Castros! The Cubans are taking over!)

Eeve can evolve into Umbreon and Espeon, but I'm not sure how. You can buy the stones from the 4th floor of Hayward Department Store.

I've been playing the 2009 beta for some time now (about 2 days) and it's great! I really like the Chansey dance...it's very interesting. But, i Have a couple of questions. First of all, how can you get past the woman in the forest? Also, what are you supposed to do after you beat the ghost gym leader? And what are you supposed to do about that team Rocket person in front of the warehouse? Who's Nina and where do you find her?...anyways, thanks for the help

i wana give this a try and i use a GpsPhone Emulator and i get the 000001 error and ive located the gameconfig.txt file and ive pasted

there is a bookcase in your dads lab that makes the game crash.
and after going north and getting the parcel i came back to your dads lab, i went in and he prompted me to choose a pokemon, even though i already had done, he also would not let me leave the room

hello, I'm not sure if this has been reported, but when you go into castro forest, you could actually walk over the water. You just walk in the lake at the leftmost side.

Umbreon and Espeon are both found in Eagolu Park as WILD POKEMON! They are around the thirtys. Very rare. They are in the cave area (same one that you find Tyrouge and Magby in)

As a bug report, Repels don't do anything. They think they are being used, but you can still get into encounters ._.

Another bug, in the Mt. Boulder Caves entrance above Merson City, I was able to walk around/through one of the rocks. (I'd show the picture but apparently I haven't posted enough ._.)

You can still get into encounters while using Repels in the official games.

Is your leading Pokémon at a lower level than the wild Pokémon in the area? If so, Repel won't work that well, if at all.

I don't remember...it was a few days ago that I used it, and since then, i've been needing all the battles I can get to get ready for the Elite 4

i posted this before, but noone answered, so here it is again...

so i got to the haunted forest and i ran into the team rockets. i walked right in the space between the priest and the rockets, and talked to the priest. they did their little talk... and that was it. nothing more happens. i can get them to do the talk as many times as needed... but thats it. i don't know if this is a bug or if i'm just missing something really obvious.

well, i went there (in owsauri city), talked to everything, pressed everything, and found nothing. i did find two bugs though.

you can walk onto the slot machine at the far left and teh picture generator by walking down onto them.

additionally, my mail says to go to dad and to go to the proffessor when i have 60 pokemon in my pokedex. i went to both [with 60 in rijon dex] and nothing happens.
