ok
i might start with route 9 then, if i have nothin else to do now (in my real life^^)
SAA said whe will send me the patch in the evening, but adding the text and changing chanseys locations isnt a really hard thing to do..
did you know we will have our hero riding an arcanine instead of a bike (or scooter)? that was SAs idea and i think it is totally awesome!

doesnt mattter... even when yyou use surf with blastoise you see a lapras^^
we could change that too... maybe add a surfboard xD

looks good to me, but shouldn't the trees be 3 tiles wide?
li'l problem here: startet making the sudowoodo script. I think I made the script so, that it will check for water gun and then make the applymovement.
but...there isn't an animation in the game. Is that okay for you that after clicking "yes" sudowoodo will just dance and then attack?

thats ok with me...
i think the original trees are 3 tiles wide but there are some tiles just to make 2 tile trees... and i dont think they look bad so theres no problem for me^^

W00t just got a really nice vote for SILVER VALLEY:
Rating: 9.5/10
Reason: They mountainious valley looks awesome! It's very complicated and has good use of the mountain tiles, just the way I like it. The pathways leading to the valley and to the next route looks great. I like the way you placed all the buildings and houses especially the gym. It looks like an original map, with added goodness and sweetness.
I also like the way you placed the trees, neat!
Suggestions: I have nothing to say -_-
I could upload a savegame with many towns available to fly at, one poke has fly, a charizard lvl 45, bike, 3 badges...
i always use this to try out the connections between the maps

we could add some kind of event at this part you need surf for
but i couldnt test it yet cause on the way i got into a fight and after the fight i switched to another sprite... how can i fix that?
edit: ive ofund a beat tester for our hack, a real life friend of mine. he needs to download all the stuff and a rom first

I'm glad you found someone to test it, but I don't know how to fix this "change sprites" thing O.o
I think I'll start with making some scripts now, I may surprise you with some ;)
btw, will we edit the palette of the trees or insert new too?

like neti said before, i made the new "bike"sprites, but they aren't bikes anymore, now you ride on an Arcanine!

the cave at the top is the grotto of blitza (dunno his english name)... do you got an idea for the name??? should be like frozen grotto and burning grotto...
SA: like i said already, insert them in the nweset pacth (i gave you the link) and then give the patch to me. ill insert this route and then upload the patch to the shq

hope everybody is allright with it that chansey will have to be placed a few tiles to the right xD
I made some scripts for the "false" forest entrace, where 3 ppl are inside. They now talk about other things..
and the sign you will reach from this entrace is changed too.
and I'll ask again: What about the bar event? ^^

ive uloaded beta 12 to the shq, go there and download it
it contains the riding sprites (male only) and all new maps
i also uploaded savegame where you have fly, cut, bike, 3 badges and most cities to fly to.
you have some good pokemon (charizard lvl 46, karnimarni (dunno english name) lvl 40 (dunno why it doesnt evolve xD should be third evolution already^^))
male character, named AAAAAAA^^
since it is not specially for our patch i can post the link here:

you have to adjust the filename as follows:
[name of the rom file without .gba][savegame number from 1 to 9].sgm
and it ahs to be in the same folder as the rom!
just load it by pressing F1 fro savegame 1, F2 for savegame 2 and so on

damn the savegame doesn't work for me -.-'
My Rom has a silly name.. Pokemon - Fire Red#GBA
but if I write Pokemon - Fire Red #GBA1.smg it doesn't work, when I try pressing f1 it loads an empty save O.o

why not rename your rom xD never thought about that xD ?
do you remember this lil pokemon pension on route 5? we could attach something like an arcanine farm to it where arcanines are trained for riding.
you ccould get this riding arcanine there in a side quest...
we could let them say sth like "our arcanines are trained only for riding, they have never been in a fight before and dont know how to fight."
so theres a reason why the player cant use it in battles

i simply changed the rom name to Pokemon and the savegame to Pokemon1.smg.
If I open it in VBA and klick load and search for the smg, it's not displayed O.o
edit: worked now, had to write the filename on my own cause it wasn't displayed.

I tryed changing the text, some can be changed with A-Tex, the rest has to be changed with thingy. I'll do that now.
edit: I was wrong, with A-Text you can only edit the text she normally says (it's similar, so I confused it).
I had to hack all the text with thingy -.-'
I think it's quite okay now, most likely nobody will faint before entering Bloominggrove, so it's not a big problem that it's not perfect (the box is open for about 3 seconds before it closes after all the text was shown).
And there was a little error with the heros backsprite.
When the fight starter, there where some pixles over the hair (I checked it, it's not because of my changes. I patched a clean rom and tryied it out, it was there too).
Anyway I'll send you the patch now, neti.
I didn't insert the other scripts, only changed this one. (was complicated and took long to work with thingy.).

i think the bug over the heros head is caused by my rom (i knew it was strange... you can meet wild regirocks...)
but it wasnt implemented in the patches before the last one... so why now?^^
we can take an old patch and apply the new changes to it
and i need to get another rom

hey! i'm back on my pc and i'm a little bit lazy for now xD
about the barplot: i thinked something like. you enter the bar and you saw your mother (officer jenny) talk to the people in bar, like: "Have anyone seen this girl? she's very dangerous!" then one of the people say: "hey lady, why should we remember that girl, when we have such a beautiful lady in there, would you have a drink with me?" mother: "you drunk too much, old man... so nobody has seen her?" man: "hey lady, that wasn't so nice, i'll show you what it mean to be nice to an old man!" he goes to your mother in then a "!!" mark appear above your head and you should: "Go AWAY FROM MY MOTHER!" then you go to him, above your mothers head appears a "!"-mark, then the battle begings. i think the trainer should have drunken-pokemon xD like: (on german) pandir and schlupuck xD they really fit! after battle he disappear after saying something.
then you talk with your mother: "oh [player], you here? i see, you're strong now and a knight of the justice, like your father and me! i'm very busy with team shadow, they have a girl with them which is very dangerous
...
what, you know her? what was her name? ...Samara, ok, thank you for your help, darling, i'll meet you, good luck with your pokemon!"
mother runs out of the bar.
finished event ^^
in the bar you could fight a few drunken peoples with the pokemon i said before and maybe we could add a buy script or something like that where you could buy water, mineral water, lemon and so on, what do you mean?

and how do you get your ride-arcanine? ive a lil plot for that:
team shadow steals one of the arcanines because samara wants one. they try to escape with the ship (port bydale is quite close to the farm). you have to stop them and when you succeed you get the arcanine you saved
or the arcanine they stell has enteis phone number, thats why they want it

Told you guys...I like reading your stuff, don't worry, My hack would not have any similarities, now...
Don't you think getting another arcanine would ruin the trainer's deck?
Besides, if Arcanines cannot be obtained anywhere else in the game, then growlithe should not be a starter?
Doesn't make sense.

you will not be able to use this arcanine in a battle, it is not trained for that, it is trained for transporting people^^

ok, new plot:
the old owner of the arcanine farm is very proud of his old arcanine and he tells everyone the same story:
once his arcanine get lost and he walks thorugh the country, then he found the place where entei lives. entei have saved his life and show him the way back to his owner.
that's what team shadow also hear, so they have this plan: they capture the arcanine and let him show them the place, where they can find entei. for stealing arcanine they also capture the boat in port bydale.
you have to beat all team shadow members+ samara to get arcanine safely back, also you have to free the captain of the ship.
after you have brought the arcanine back to his owner, the old man gives you an ridearcanine to thank you.
do you like it?
EDIT: oh, our spy is back! xD (i'm just joking) well like neti said, the arcanine are specially trained for transport, not for battle, so they will be like an item for you:)
and how do you like our arcanineanimation? ;)

got the information, i was taking a shower but now I'll start with the script.
I think it's not really complicated, it should be done without any problems.
And I like the ideas you have, this arcanine plot is great ^^
But we should add something: The owner should say: Our arcanines can run much faster than any normal could do.
I know it's logical bacause they are trainerd for running, but some ppl may think even their normal arcanine is strong and could transport them.
Ok, I'll start now ^^
edit: lil problem, I can't find the trainer, so we will have to make a new one.
I made number 5 to a Bird Keeper named tylor with three pokemon (ekans, you can change that or tell me how many and which pokemon he should have).

i could find the trainer and did all the changes to him and the leader (now Vincent Raven xD)
just make the script and give it to me, ill burn it into the rom

Some hints forr his speech: His name is Vincent Raven (xD) and his favourite pokemon is murkrow
i changed the attack data of grwolithe now so it has ember from the beginning and learns bite at lvl 7

well it looks--interesting ^^
the big problem is, that it looks weird when hero and pidgeot are at the same spot O.o
and to make the pidegeot really sit on the tree, I had to change the "verhaltens byte" in AM in the blockeditor, but now it's the same with the hero if he goes to a tree from above O.o
We'll have to change that.
And you'll have to adjust the trainer number in the script, so the trainerbattle 0 0x005.
Question: If you beat Vincent you get Brocks badge? O.o
Isn't that a little bit weird?
I'll tryed opening the rom in Unlz, it didn't work O.o (wanted to find the sprite of the badge).

setflag 290 should be ok. (if you give it the ID 0290 in AM ^^).
The script is allright, it should work fine.
edit: we can use following flags without problems:
0x290-0x29F, 500-79F, 1000-109F.

ok the script for the trainer works fine (i could only try the part after the fight cause i have no savegame there...
but vincent doesnt talk to me (ive beaten him already in this savegame)... maybe he doesnt like me?
i solved the thing with the bird on the tree, dont think about that anymore
and i think it looks cool when the bird brings you to vincent^^

when you save your game in VBA a file with the name of your rom, a number and the extension .sgm should appear in the same folder as your rom, thats a savegame.
i made the bar, ill send you a pm now wit hdetails about the bar event
also, there is a new patch now at the shq which vou will need to test your script

hmm i could give you my settings for VBA maybe it works then. Everything is saved in a file so it is easy to give the settings to you

if i find out the id of the trainer ill send it to you, but at the moment ScriptED always tells me "Subscript out of range"... do you know another progrramm to open scripts inside a rom?
oh and i nthe patch i told you to download i forgot to set the movement permissions in the bar, but i think you can do that^^
and some people are looking in the wrong direction... but dont mind i can correct that and you can also if its necessary for your script
if you dont know how to do that just ask
edit: did you ever think about fixing th bug when naming your starter?^^
and @SA: i dont know why but samaras ow sprite has black hair... maybe you took the wrong pallet when inserting it

I can change the movement permissions or the directins the ppl look, no problem.
I dont even use Script ED, so I never open scripts which are inside the rom. I don't know which programm could help here O.o

oh and i just noticed that after the event on route 1 the msuic stays evil xD you forgot to set the normal music after the event
(edit: well im sorry, you did that... but after i got into a fight with a wild pokemon the music appeared again...)
and we still have the problem that there are no ppl in mart of town 2...
and a team shadow member in the forest calls samara "samari"
when you change this script you can change another thing too: the part where she says: "Luke, Im your father!" xD no im just joking, i mean the part where she says: "Im thee daughter of the Team Shadow Boss"... make her say "My dad is the Boss of Team Shadow"

edit 2: uh your script for the trainer contained the wrong trainer id, didnt i sayy it is 8E?^^

the problem with the music is really weird xD
Why dont you delete the ppl from the mart in town 2 and make new people, giving them the offsets of another mart?

uhm i was making a video and i lost against vincent even when his murkrow was 4 lvl lower then we wanted it to be... aerial ace is way too strong!
and the other trainers pidgey uses defense curl and his second pokemon is a sandshrew... even if i change it^^
edit: xD when you defeated vincent it says "you received tm 40" two times^^
well first it says: you received TM 40 and makes this sound and then he says sth, after that you really receive it xD
i changed it and it works, ill upload a video now (might take a while -> 32mb)

another thing: after the event this dude reappears xD

damn I hoped if i use showsprite at the end, the dude will reappeare after the map is resettet, so after leaving and entering again -.-

what trainer class should i make him?
edit: i made him pkmn trainer with the image of some fat dude looking crazy... he has a gulpin lvl 8 and a spinda lvl 10, is that ok?

The script is allright now, I edited a little more (he said beatiful..)
and neti: You got 5 balls, but it doesn't matter how many you get, the message says you put great ball into the pocket. It does that in the german games too , it looks like you get one but you get more.
I writet GUY: in front of his messages, it was a little confusing who is speaking. And I let him say: Shut up, so the son has a real reason to tell him not to talk like this xD.
If you enter the bar again the guy is there, i will have to give him his own script cause now he doesn't say anything (that's peferct :))
Can you insert the script as level script?

im not sure if i can insert a lvvl script, theres sth in advmap but i nver tried it before, well see
just a lil hint: the past form of to write is wrote not writet^^
edit: inserting it as a lvl script failed, ill eidt the map so the player is forced to walk over it
i have to adjust the movement of the player now but thats no problem
the first movement of the player is $4 right? edit: no its $5

Try it out, just insert 2 new script and write unknown 0003 and var number 4050.
The one above the warp will be the first I wrote, the left the second and the right the third.
Delete the left and the right warp, and outside you have to adjust the warp, it has to be "to warp number 0".
Then everything works fine :)

@SA: in the flame of rage thread zel mentioned that the side movement of arcanine "is a bit weird".
i have to agree with him, its not very weird but a bit.
it is mainly caused because of the fast movement. i added an person with the arcanine sprite that walks clokwise and it looked fine, but the person walked slower than you do when youre on arcanine

ok guys the latest patch (13) was uploaded to the shq cotaining all scripts that of sparrowdale (gym and bar event)
MT you still need to make small scripts for the two dudes who tell you to go to the bar, i mean when you talk to them, not try to leave the town

and btw, it doesn't seem that namepokemon will work. Maybe it's better to just leave the namepart and they can't be named cause they are official police pokemon.

I'll try to delete the ppl in the mart of town 2 and make new ones, giving them the offset of another mart (maybe it works).
and I just moved chansey so it should be allright now.
edit: Position of Chansey is okay now, and you see the ppl in the mart of Bloominggrove ingame ;)( I copied their offset, deletet them, insertet new ppl and gave them their offsets again ^^)

ok ill test the changes you did now and after that ill probably map the second gym or start making the wild pokemon data (not sure what ill do yet)
btw shouldnt we force the player to defeat the gym leader before leaving sparrrowdale?

the idea behind it is that the player has to move through this gym in a kind of snake movement: he winds (deutsch: schlängelt) himself through the gym

ive tested it cause its kinda hard to keep the overview as you can see^^ its kinda complicated... but everythings working fine
we need a script for the leader now, nothing special, just to have a speech.
his name will be solid snake (yeah from metal gear solid ^^ or was his name only snake not "soli" snake?)
the trainer id is 19F. and let him say something about his favourite pokemon Arbok.
Ill propose the following Pokemon:
Tainers (one id is EA, i cant read out the other one, should i delete him?) lvl 10 Ekans, Onix or Dratini (two of em)
Leader Snake (ID 19F): lvl 12 Seviper, lvl 13 Arbok
Do you think those are ok?

i see that this you second post, but we already have 100 or 200 posts, so we probably know how to open an attachment...

im not the leader off this team, so i do not have to decide about you, but i can tell you some things i like and dont like:
first you have some errors at the mountains (which seem to be wanted). also, this fusion-trees dont look good, forget them...
you also have some tile errors at the path that is above the top building on the right map.
and there are way too many flowers in front of the market.
another thing i kinda dislike is that u used the same type of house three times at the left map (and you even used the most ugliest type of building FR has... i relly hate that buidling xD)
sry that i critisize your maps like that, but im a mapper myself and icare a lot about such things.
about the sprites... hmm we could need a spriter since SA has a lot of work at the moment, but i want to be honest: i dont like them... their pose looks kinda strange some things are not well done like the shading at the girl. it looks like shes a snorlax which was under a train once...
the ows also look kinda boring and not well edited...
im sorry, i cant say im better in spriting but i dont have to be cause im a mapper :P

don't worry, neti, i could handle the sprites myself, i don't want a second spriter. you know, i'm fast, i could handle it myself. not a critism or an attack, but i like it to do this job alone.
@team a little question, i found a very good officer jenny sprite on the side pokesho.com, could we use this? if yes i make the movement sprites of it.
for now i'm working on the running shoes, i've got 3 of 9, and they look not so bad xD
have a lot work for school now... if there is a sprite which is important and which you need now, let me know, so i make it before the others.

another thing: ive deleted the house on route 2 now. it is equalized with the bar, means if we change one of them the other one is changed too (happens in pokecenters and marts too)

oh yeah, more work! xD well, now i'm finally on the pc and i can write this part and make all the OW's xD (die OW's, die xD)
ok, on genesis cave? it's the first cave right? hm, ok i've got a few ideas, if you really like to do an earthquake, what about this?
proposition 1: a little girl stand in front of the cave, telling you that you have to pass to come to the next town, but it's dangerous, because there are a few earthquakes in the cave and noone knows what it is.
but you are fearless and go on to the cave asking a lot of people wheres the earthquakes (everytime you go up or downstairs an earthquake appears) come from.
next to the exit you finally find the problem: the two guys you meet at route 1 terrorists an Aron (stollunior in deutsch) which is special because it knows the attack earthquake. (ok, if you know how to make shiny we could also say, it's shiny)
so you want to stop them again. but this time, no samara to help you, so you have to battle twice (or we make a double match) . ok, because a cave is kinda hard, we should add the little girl who has follow you and heals your pokemon (can you do this M_T? like: oh i see you found the problem, but i'm afraid of this, could you go and help this pokemon? i can heal your pokemon for you!)
ok, after you beat the two (steven and his friend xD) the little girl thanks you for helping and gives you an Ultra ball and then you have the change to caught Aron.
proposition 2: we decided on a second rival, who lives next to you, also an police man kid. you can meet him there first. something like: "i know, you're the child of the most famous police officers, but i'll beat you someday! and i'll begin now, i'll find the exit before you." at the beginning when you enter, and at the exit he finds you and say something like: "darn you are first here, but i'll beat you!" or something like this and then you battle him.
i know the second one is not very big, but i'm so tired from school and my head hurts xD
if you want we can combinate the two something like:
your rival wants also find the cause of the earthquake and run to find it, and after you beat the guys he appear and say: darn you find them before me. but then i wouldn't make a battle with him.
ok, i know, maybe they aren't good, but like i said: my head hurts xD...

er doesn't really matter to me which we choose, but I'm not sure if I can make a person follow the hero (it's easy with applymovement, but in this case the player can choose himself where he want to go O.o).
I only know that earthquakes should be possible.
I can add one or two persons in the cave which will heal all pokemon.
@ Rescue Team Wave: wow, you helped with shiny gold and want to beta test flame of rage? what a honor ^^

cronos point was not that there shouldnt be a lake in a forest, it is that i used sea or salt water not lake water.
i remade the sea a bit and fixed the bridge tile errrors, so everythings fine now.
btw where i live there are a lot of lakes in a forest, i think that is normal^^

I'm sorry but I didn't have the time for trying the script (I just finished my presentation, but there's still homerwork left O.o).
But tomorrow is time enough, I don't have much school (only 4 hours ^^).
e:\ The buglist in the shq can be updatet. Just delete everything except the bug when naming the hero.
I'll delete the namepokemon from the scripts and you see the ppl in the mart now. And chansey should have the right position now too ^^
edit: tryed out the shiny hack, now I have a shiny mew lvl 30 xD(not on the new patch yet, I used the old one to try it. I wont insert a shiny hack till we need it/want it/whatever.)

The tut only lists up the specials, but doesn't show how to use all of them (only the one for healing the pokemon is shown).

im doing a few changes now in my computer science lessons...
ill list them here:
- used museum tiles for sparrowdale bar (added a few)
- added sign next to it (script needed)
- corrected tree shading mistakes
- corrected a wrong warp on route 5
- corrected some movement permisions
- corrected few tile errors

ive decided to replace some tiles that are twice in tileset 1 with the lavender bridges cause i really like them
this is what they look like

as you can see you can make bridges that are as wide as you want (even 1 tile). i made tiles for grass water and mountains (and coast, not for the 1 tile version... i will add that)
for the ones that go up/down i need only 1 version cause you cant see through the tiles
edit: ok im done, but the tiles i replaced wore not doubled, they were water tiles which look really much like other water tiles, i wouldnt have used them anyway

a little question, i never played helo 3, who is this man and for which gym would you take him?
about the cave, i don't know what the other would say, but i imagined it this way:
everytime you go down or upstairs there will be an earthquake and the player will say something like: the earthquake gets stronger, better hurry up! (my english is terrible, just wanna say this xD)
then when you enter the cave that girl who tells you that it's dangerous and disappear and your rival who said who he is and what that he want to stop this earthquakes by his own.
and the event at the end, like i said it before in my storyplot.
of course we need some trainer, but there we could just change the pokemon with the trainer edit.
ow do you want to include more to the cave expect the event i said? and btw do we now make a shiny larvitar or a normal one?

er there's a little problem, I want to insert a level script so that the girl will get a question mark and then step to you, afterwards it will explain that there are earthquakes.
But..I don't know how to make level scripts and I can't find a tutorial O.o
I've heard about one of teh baro, but it's on wack a hack and I can't speak spanish or whatever -.-'
Is it possible to translate the site?
edit: found an internet site which does it, I'm learning level scripts now :)

i've got an idea, but it would be hard work (in fact hard work for ME xD)
i think changing all the trainersprites (well not all, but the main sprites) would make our game more original!:)
e.g. new lass, new youngstars etc. which in fact look in every region different and so i want do.
i create a lass and a youngstar for example, so you could see what i mean, you could decide whether you like the idea or not. i also thinked about making new trainers, like "drunk man" or "gangster boy" "hiphop-boy" "pokemon rider" etc.
what do you think about that?

hey there
since I have to wait for a reply to my messages asking why my level script doesn't want to work, I tryed inserting a new sound.
Worked quite well, instead of the normal Pallet Town song there is now an old one (i think from gold or so, route 42).
Just wanted to try it out,if you don't like it I can make it normal again ^^ (by patching again xD).
And if you want me to insert a special midi, tell me which (has to be .midi).

we'd need the .midi then, and at VGmusic there isn't this midi of DP (some others, but not this one. Futaba Town, Gym leader etc is there.).
We can even use GC sounds.

you can use the dropdown "Music Menu", then you will see consoles listet and you can choose between DS, GBA, PS"...

wow, great! changing the music? i have to say the best music is really from legend of zelda. but why don't every of us choose one music, that he like and then we insert them in every city? i love the zelda music, it's not only pokemon, so it's quite new! ^^
