Okay, this has been bugging me for days now so I thought I'd bring my dilemma to PC. I recently read a simple comic strip of Superman chasing an airplane. At first he's too slow, but then he gets a sudden speed boost and catches it, and this is where the problem lies. What is he doing to make himself go faster, because there's nothing up there to push off of! Does he add more "umph" to his "swoosh"? Someone please enlighten me...

i think he picked up draft from the plane just like racecar's do with each other. when he got behind the plane he went faster because there was no wind slowing him down

The answer to your Question is this: On Kal-El/Clark Kent's home planet Krypton the Gravity is more dense than ours that would make him faster, lighter and stonger on planet earth which the gravity is lower, also to answer your question about him going slower then faster it is like a mini sonicboom.
