Disintegration

I'm sure that when we were all so young that we believed in the most trivial and weirdest of things. Kind of like in kindergarten were we thought the opposite sex had cooties.
I used to think that when people "flew" from different places, I thought they were just catapulted to their destinations, and when infomercials said to call the number at the bottom of the screen, I thought they were talking about screen doors. Also, my sister told me that if you whistle while lying down in bed, the ghost beneath you would shake the entire bed.
What about you?

The classic: monster under the bed
The effing weird: K well when I was like... 5, my cousin was evil and told me at easter, a big, fuzzy white hand would come and take your easter basket away if you went to sleep. This bothered me so I went "D:". Of course being the 5 year old I was, I went to sleep and when there was no easter basket, I cried. I found it a week later under my cousin's bed... They were still there... >.>

Aha, great thread to flush back in the memories.
Well, before I knew anything about aeronautics, still very young... I thought I myself could glide long distances, one day climbed to the top of the tree house, tried to fly landing on my face. Good times, lol. XD
Also, I always believed that needles and doctors were deadly people, and that they consumed people to a place called the "E.R." It was pretty silly, though to this day I'm still scared of needles.
Another was the horrific belief of raptors, I saw jurassic park then couldn't sleep for a month and other long times of no sleep cause of it. I always thought they missed some of them, and that were out there. I always thought raptors were in the area, scared me every night. @_@
Pretty silly when I look back on it.

I did this, too. I had a whole flight posture. I tucked in my legs and put my arms out and jumped off the back of my couch. Onto the wood floor. Without catching myself.
Another crazy thing I thought was that if I swallowed a metal ball bearing, I'd be able to breath fire. Never actually managed to swallow one, though. My fear of pills overcame my desire to breath fire XD

Ahh, the good old days when you thought there would be someone or something hidden in the dark corners of your room! I always thought a guy was out there, trying to kill me. I always slept with my lights on, and kept a stick beside me till I was 8! XD
And when I first say Batman, I got scared! o_O
Come on, I was like 4? Dad finally told me, that he was a good guy, he put on that mask to scare the bad guys! Oh how happy I was! A new hero was born in my list! lol
Yeaaa...those were the days XD

I thought clouds were snow waiting for winter to come so they could fall. XD

When I was three, my father allowed me to look through the telescope at the full moon. I freaked out because of the "man in the moon", and it took me fifteen years until I was able to look at the moon through a telescope again.
Continuing my space thoughts, I always believed that aliens would come down from the sky and abduct me. And one night, when I was either three or four, I had a dream where an alien was in my closet. The fear has kind of stayed with me to this day, though it's more of a joke now.
When I was younger, I thought the greatest job in the world would be the one I have now: bag girl at the local grocery store. I have come to find out that I was completely wrong on that one.

XD From about 5 - 9 years old I was scared of ghosts. I was scared that they would kill me or something. I hated these ghost stories my friends tell. I always ended up believing them. >.<
I also thought all of my favorite TV shows were real. XD I dream about it and end up thinking it happened.

I used to think the Bogeyman was real. I thought that if you span round in the mirror a certain amount of times it would appear behind you. So I didn't try that. I also believed in all the ghost stories and Santa. I still believe in ghosts but some stories were just plain stupid if I think about it now.

I pretty much had everything right as a child. I think I'm more confused about stuff now than I was then.
I used to think love was simple.

I believed I could break out of jail by hiding a can of RC (off-brand cola that no one likes) in my pants, shaking it up, and spraying it in the cops' faces.
I thought the tree outside my window was a monster.
I thought I could make it snow by writing letters asking for snow and letting them blow away outside. I still do it sometimes, too, even though I know it's completely silly. ._.
I didn't understand marriage at all, and all attempts to explain it to me failed. Not much has changed in that department.
I thought I was the fastest, strongest, smartest, most amazing kid around. That was embarrassing when I actually started hanging around other kids.
I was afraid of the Kool-Aid man and Chunky Beef Soup, because both of them had commercials where they came bursting through walls. I would sit there staring at the wall in terror after the commercial came on.
Yes. I was an interesting kid.

I used to be really paranoid about swimming in pools (or any other kind of water) at night. XD I think that was due to the fact that I watched JAWS at a pretty early age, and always worried that something I couldn't see underwater -- especially a shark -- was going to get me.
I've pretty much outgrown that now, unless I'm at the beach or something. Despite the fact that I love to swim and I'm really good at it, you couldn't pay me to go near murky ocean water. XD It still creeps me out too much!

Hmm, off the top of my head..
My older brother told me my bum would grow square if I watch too much television.. =/ I believed him.
I was convinced Michael Jackson was a woman.
I was terrified of marionettes and (to this day) clowns.
And I believed boys were living incubuses of cooties.

I'll have to go think to remember the rest..

Hrmmm; where to start? I cannot remember much from my early childhood in terms of being afraid of things or thinking silly things, but I have to have something DD:
Well, I believed that pancakes were really called panny-cakes until I was nine or so. My mom and I had the nickname for them and that's just what I grew up knowing. Unfortunately, I had to find out after getting into an arguement with my fourth grade class on the correct terminology. XDD
Ohh ohh!!! I completely forgot about this. When I was four and five, I grew up with two kids my age and one kid a year older than me. The kid who was older than me suggested that we drink coca cola at my best friends house (one of the kids my age). We took it out, and poured it. I took a sip and the older girl said "WAIT WAIT DON'T DRINK THAT!!!" I took the drink away from my mouth right away and she said "If you drink the fizz, then you'll blow up and die!" not jokingly. ;/ So when I said I took a sip, she told me that I probably wouldn't die, but to never ever do it again. I believed I'd die drinking the fizz until I was seven, and to this day, if I ever drink soda, I wait for the fizz to go down even though I know it's safe.

At one point, I once thought that the Power Rangers were real, and I actually wanted to become a Power Ranger o____o I never thought that cartoons were real or anything, but since the Power Rangers were acted out by real people, I thought that they were real >.> That only lasted for a month or something, since my brother eventually told me that it was a TV show, and that they weren't real, but I laugh whenever I think about it.
Oh, and I think that I actually wanted my toys to come to life whenever no one was at home. I have no idea why, but the thought of it simply intrigued me, I guess.

I used to watch ET a lot when I was little but I was afraid of aliens. I used to be afraid of some alien coming and taking me away, until my mom told me 'they live in California.' I though I was where I was in New York, but what she really meant was in Hollywood in the movies. My brother an I were so weird when we were little. ^^'

Yeah. Afraid of Santa. D:, everytime I saw him on TV, I'd get sick. I had a little thing, like a blanket, that I would go everywhere with it. I'd go pee with it. When it disappeared, I ran out of home like I was leaving definitively home. D:

I remember that when I was about five or six, I used to believe that if I concentrated hard enough before falling asleep, I could be in a cartoon. I also thought that if I thought hard enough about a previous dream, I'd have it again. I still try, but I know there's only about a 0.0000000001% chance of it actually happening. (Estimate) I also actually believed that blowing on dandelions (the fluffy kind) would actually give me a wish come true. After I grew out of the dream thing, I tried wishing for Fairy Godparents. xD
I also thought ChalkZone was a real place, but you needed to draw a circle on the chalkboard after regulaer school hours. In afterschool, me and a group of friends would try to go. That hurt.

Um... Okay.
I used to think I was some random 'Chosen One' selected to get myself a group of followers (which I did, about twenty of us) to defeat the evil Dark Masters, which were like demons, if I recall correctly.
My friends and I believed in it for two years, and we had, like, forty members, all who believed. Ah, the silly antics of five year olds.

I used to believe the exact same thing. I always tried to put myself in a pokemon episode I watched right before bed. Also, I was made to believe that:
(i) Looking at naked women would make you go blind (didn't stop us).
(ii) When it's raining and the sun's out, monkeys are getting married.
(iii) Rain being God's tears.
(iv) Jelly being made out of ants.
That's all I remember for now.

My friends and I did something similar where we all thought we were 'chosen ones' with magic powers, and this other classmate of ours was working for Satan and plotting to take over the world, and that he'd 'rise to power' on 6/6/06. And he was a popular boy that all the girls liked, so we thought he put some kind of magical curse on his nice hair and was using it to attract people to him. And we'd sit in class trying to send telepathic messages to him, and we'd freak the hell out when he even somewhat looked in our direction. And this went on for like a year and a half, and it got incredibly stupid and pissed off everyone who wasn't involved. It was me and three or four other people, and most of the others are too embarrassed to talk about it nowadays. xD
The saddest thing of all? We were about thirteen. We were really bored. .____.;;; Shortly after that came my 'I think I have schizophrenia' phase. I'm mostly better now.

I thought so too but I actually took precautions before landing on my face. I had a friend help me create make-shift eagle wings that could fit both of us and were able to glide for a while and we both climbed to the top of a large tree with a set of them and jumped off. I was only able to glide about 10-20 yards before I landed on my face. My friend went 8 yards but he was a bit heavier too. Then we tried with two pairs of wings and we only went about 5 yards further and we kept going until we learned how to land on our feet. By the time we were able to land on our feet, we were covered in scars and grass and went over 20 yards each. It was very fun and it was very painful too. Very, very painful. I still have bruises from it.
Btw, this happened only 6 years ago.

The question was if I had any notions as a child which now seem ridiculous as a more mature, thinking, adult-minded person.
I do find belief in God ridiculous now.
Therefore, what I said makes sense.

I don't really remember my thoughts as I was younger...
I'll just say the basic stuff I remember:
1. That frogs gave warts. That's so like, probably right, I've never actually touched a frog surprisingly so...
2. That... the um... pointy pencil-nosed TV show about a puppet drawing was evil or something.
3. That Pikachu DID call out while at school.
4. That my stuff would feel alone if I didn't put them together... like, pencil and book. Etc.
5. That there really were people that were robots pretending to be humans (that was cause of beyblades.)
6. Well... this is something stange I've always done not really something I believed... whenever I'm in the shower, and I touch the wall, like with my arm, I always have to wet the wall... I have no clue why I still do that.
And I probably forgot things.

I was always convinced that somehow, while I'm swimming in a pool, I'd get electrocuted/bitten by an invisible shark/entered into a strange new world. No more of those XD.
I also had an extreme fear of vampires and thought them to be real for a few years, and thought that wrapping myself up in a blanket completely regardless of how hot the night was the vampire wouldn't notice me when he came to kill me XDDD.
That's all I can recall, though I'm sure there's more : P.
