Okay how are you opening the file?

Are you using the icon with the swords called, Pokemon Odyssey?

I've just tried it and I don't get any errors :S

I'm still looking into this.

It's very strange.

Okay, I guess I should've posted controls :P

Z is the action button, x is the cancel button, enter is the start button

and obviously the arrows move you around.

Sorry about confusion.

And to all those who can't play for some reason, I'll try and help you sort it out.

Hmmmm, there sometimes is an error because of the way they are loaded.

They shouldn't happen all the time.

Wichu
July 3rd, 2008, 04:04 PM
When you talk to someone, the flower animation messes up...

And Uing says "None of the scientist here". Shouldn't that be "scientists"?

Also, "it's power" should be "its power". "Containts" should be "contains".

Finally, I can't seem to attack in battle :(

Mitchman Is

Well waudby i think you rushed. Im doin it over and over and nothin happens.

Neo-Dragon
July 3rd, 2008, 04:22 PM
Hmmm, seems to be an error with vista.
I downloaded the game on my XP desktop and loaded fine.

I enjoyed the game.
I liked the screens when you opten the game first(the stuff before selecting the new game). I'm so used to the Rm2k3 stuff, it was nice to see a start-up like the way the pokemon games do.
Kyledoves shinoh tiles look really nice at Odysseys resolution. When showing text, the flowers go crazy lol.
The real time clock is cool.
I actually liked the battle system.
Really really well done man. I seriously don't no if you need to worry about it. It's fine. Like this is a fan game after all. I enjoyed the battle. I was battling a Bulbasaur (I picked Totodile)- the guy nearly killed me!! I had one HP by the end of the battle lol.

But,
I glitched the game durning the storyline events, by walking around when I wasn't ment to be walking around. Both when in the lab, and with dawn on the route. The game crashed :(
Oh,
The text is a bit weird the way it kinda goes funky just before it goes to the second line.

Overall, I really liked it. I was looking at the game in sphere, reading the scripts and looking at the maps, and I can tell you put alot of effort in! Good job.

Waudby
July 3rd, 2008, 04:27 PM
I'm not sure why you couldn't attack in battle Wichu, i've never had this problem. I'll fix those text problems.

The reason why the flowers go crazy is because, i still need to set up the FPS throttling for the text, because the Map Engine and the Frame Rate are set at different rates, when the text box is opened the map engine hands over the frame rate to the video buffer, which in this case, is unthrottled.

I don't think I rushed the game, it's just sometimes there's errors that the game maker just wont notice. Especially run time errors, because I have all the required files I dont have to worry, where as someone who hasnt got sphere will maybe get problems.

So what did everyone actually think to the game, give a rating out of 10 and reasons why please.

Waudby

Yes it is playable, it does work, people have played it, try redownloading it, or downloading the latest version of sphere from www.spheredev.net.

i got up to the 2nd town, and then to route 2
the girl battled me and as soon as her rattata was sent out, i got an error...
something about the script. idk.

dont worry about the flower glitch. its funyn! lol XD

other than that its good!!

i also managed to get -8 hp on my cyndaquil o_0 lol

Ooh! Ooh! I just realized there was a demo! I'm downloading! It's at 31%....2 Minutes remaining....

I'm guessing I shouldn't review this for PC Gamer eh? Seems that there are a lot of bugs... O.o

There will be a new release after i get back off holiday. One with all the bugs fixed as good as i can. This release is an open beta, basically the gamers are the beta testers.

Yuoaman

Waudby
July 3rd, 2008, 10:55 PM
okay. Could you also tell me if when you select load game, are there any save files included?

Yuoaman
July 3rd, 2008, 11:08 PM
Nope, no files to load...

Also; there's something wrong with the first rival battle... After I lost (yes I lost) my rival left, leaving the screen tinted, and the battle music kept playing, along with the normal music... It corrected itself when I entered the first town again, but when I went back to the route, it tinted again and played both musics again...

Finally after that awful trip, I tried to save after getting my Pokedex... Long story short: ten minutes later it was still saving so I closed the program....

Bugs, need I say more?

Waudby
July 3rd, 2008, 11:13 PM
hmmm saving shouldn't take that long. I'm not sure why it does. I'll look into it.

The reason the music overlaps each other is because the battle script is missing the command to stop the battle theme

It's possible to play on a mac, but you will need to download the latest mac release of sphere from www.spheredev.org

I'm going to hopefully fix a few of the bugs today.

Would people like me to reupload it afterwards?

Waudby

Yeah... This one's good, but the bugs do pile up...

I did warn people that it was a buggy release, but it's helped catch some bugs I may not have found.

Long story short: ten minutes later it was still saving so I closed the program....

Bugs, need I say more?

I think I may know why your file wouldn't save.

I forgot to save that because the text box that says now saving, is just a regular text box at the moment, you have to press the Z button for it to save.

Okay I now have Release Candidate 2, there have been a few bug fixes in this version;

1. Problems with a few of the base sprites have been fixed.
2. Trouble with the battle music after being defeated by Dawn is now fixed.
3. There shouldn't be any problems with the Pokemon Cry sound files.
4. Saving now works as well (press Z when the box says Saving....")
5. A few text problems have also been fixed now.
There are still some things to be fixed;

1. Being able to move when Uing is talking.
2. Errors that occur when you try to run from a wild pokemon.
3. Errors that occur if you lose a battle and get into another one.
4. Fix the bag system for in battles.
5. Fix the music looping.
Download Link: www.spheredev.org/~waudby/uploads/PokemonOdyssey.rar (http://www.spheredev.org/%7Ewaudby/uploads/PokemonOdyssey.rar)

There are a few save files that were just tests that I've included, don't use the second one as it is invalid and will throw out an error. The first one will take you to the bit where you choose your pokemon, skipping the intro, the talk with mum, and the first part of the talk in the lab.

Yeah man do you need sphere on computer?

Well sphere is included in the file. What kind of computer are you running, i.e mac, windows or linux. Because for some reason the é in some file names is causing troubles.

Are you still having the load file error?

Rhuan
July 4th, 2008, 12:59 PM
If you get the not loading a sound file error

Inside the game's folder (called startup in waudby's download) open the folder called sounds, in there open the folder called battle and change "Battle! Wild Pokémon.mp3" to "Battle! Wild Pokemon.mp3" then, go back into the game's folder, open the folder called scripts, open the file called Vars.js with a text editor, look for "Battle! Wild Pokémon.mp3" and change it to "Battle! Wild Pokemon.mp3".

If you're on a mac

As well as waudby's game download, also get: spheredev.org/~rhuan/sphere.zip and spheredev.org/~rhuan/frameworks.zip

Put the contents of frameworks.zip in ~/library/frameworks, drop the game folder (startup) from waudby's download into the folder produced by opening sphere.zip, then run SphereEngine.app, if it doesn't work, you may need to run Config.app first and select a video driver, I recommend sdl_gl it's faster than sdl32. You may also get the music file error mentioned above, if so, follow the fix I give above.

(I'm the mac sphere developer BTW, so if you have any mac sphere related problems, ask me)

Alright, I'll give this another shot XD

With the bugged version narrowed down, I'm sure this version of the demo will be good. Now I will watch ALZip download it ^__^ *stares at 4%*

By the way, now that it's open, I can't find a vars.js file in the scripts. With the new file all it says is that there's an error with the music in the vars.js script or something x_x

Nevermind ~_~

Waudby
July 4th, 2008, 01:53 PM
Okay, open the game using the game.sgm found in the start up folder.

After this, the sphere editor will open, open the folder called scripts and go to the bottom, there should be vars.js in there somewhere :P

Rhuan
July 4th, 2008, 01:55 PM

replace startup/scripts/vars.js with the contents of spheredev.org/~rhuan/vars.js.zip

replace startup/sounds/Battle with the contents of spheredev.org/~rhuan/Battle.zip

(the second of those two files is still uploading, give it a minute)

Just for reference, sphere will load whatever is in startup if there is no games folder, or it's empty, or if it has multiple games in it, if games just has one game in it, sphere will load that.

When I downloaded the second version there was only the Release folder. No start up or game folders present.Inside release there's a folder called startup. The other stuff in release is the windows version of sphere. So, from what I said above, either put that startup in the folder with the mac version of sphere, or stick it in a folder called games and then put games in the sphere folder.

(regarding my previous post, as rikabryne had said that there was no startup folder, I assumed the game would have to be in the games folder, I should always check before typing...)

rikabryne

Hm... I didn't get another folder within Release, and when I tried to download it again I got an error saying there was an error while expanding.edit maybe not, just tried to upload it twice, I give up...

If you're still trying to run this on a mac, assuming you've installed the frameworks, and downloaded my mac version of sphere from above, open waudby's release, a folder called release, it contains among other things a folder called startup, drop that into the sphere mac folder, then run sphereengine.app if it throws an error, run config.app and play with the video driver settings then run sphereengine.app again.

If you're getting video errors on windows run config.exe and in video settings turn off fullscreen mode. Waudby uses a weird screen resolution, and so most computers will not support full screen mode.

Well i haven't been working on anything new because i've been fixing bugs in the demo. When all the bugs are gone, i'll rerelease the demo with a slightly extended version just so people who have already played it twice will have some new things to look at.

On another note, how many towns in do you usually have to go before you recieve the Cut hm?

Also in the extended demo it will feature a proper items system and hopefully the new, better, battle system :)

Wichu

Waudby
July 6th, 2008, 11:17 AM
Ahh awesome, well I may bring it forward into Cresent City the 3rd town.

The way you will get it will not be the usual, as there are no HMs.

You will be trained by the Pokemon Guild and will be given the "ADVENTURER'S KIT" for graduating the Guild.

The kit first contains an axe. That is all. After that you can use the axe straight away. However to bring a bit of strategy to the game, the axe will only have a limited number of uses until you need to get it resharpened at the Pokemon Guild or one of the Guild halls scattered around the region, there are also freelance people scattered around the routes.

Anyways, so Waudby, this is a great game! I like the different tiles and I think you did an amazing job.

I did find some glitches though:
When you chose the female hero and battle Lucas the image of Lucas in the battle is Dawn.
None of the buildings in the second town (I forgot the name) would let me in.
It won't let me save, it says Map engine failure: could not open raw file save/temp.dot.
And it kept kicking me out of the game, for various reasons, one was map engine failure? It said that Oak did not exist or something, and another was for No character priorities.

But otherwise it's fantastic.

@Rhuan: (I'll still call you it here lol) The mac version of sphere still handles all file i/o right? That's the only thing I could tell that would stop it working :S.

Also I have the insides of that town mapped and half scripted, but not fully finished. They will be included inside the "Version 1.0 Full Release". Which will be completed sometime after the beginning of august. It will feature a more than the current release.

It will be classed as demo 2, and Rhuan, I will send it to you this time for thorough testing, the testing could last a few days or up to a week or so based on how buggy it is.

@Waudby: The download I put up was a self mounting read only disk, so if he's playing it straight off of that without copying it to his disc he wouldn't be able to save, as I said in my above post. My mac version of sphere is fully featured. Well, it doesn't have an editor, but that is all that it's missing.

@darkcookie_93: What's going wrong?

edit: lol, simultaneous post (with waudby's above)

(Waudby's download came with a windows version of sphere)

Waudby
July 6th, 2008, 07:56 PM
Well it should work because the game was packaged with the sphere engine inside.

Try downloading it though it may fix the problem, go to spheredev.org and get the latest version, there should be an installer, then open the game and try playing it, I'll include some instructions next time :P

@ Rhuan: Sphere really needs a better packaged file system so that you can package it up from within the editor, like .spk files but better lol, so that it includes the engine with it all as an exe file.

@ LOL at another simultaneous post.

Assuming you have waudby's release.

Inside his release folder there's a folder called startup, inside startup there's a folder called scripts, stick my version of vars.js in there instead of the current one.

Back in startup there's a folder called sounds, in there there is a folder called battle, replace it with my one. Then back in release run Pokemon Odyssey.exe

Waudby: Basically you want me to do all your testing and bug fixing for you... Ok.

That's just stuff that's not done yet.Firstly, is it TempFile.dot or temp.dot? (If it's the later I don't know what's going on as there is no temp.dot mentioned anywhere in the code, if it's the former, are you playing the game from a read only volume, such as a disk image? If so, copy the sphere folder to somewhere that can be written to.I was meant to find all of these bugs for waudby before the demo was released, but he was in a rush to release it, so didn't send me it first...

Randomer, i'm playing it from the link you supplied in one of your other posts. Is there something else I have to do?

Well, if none of the things I found were bugs then great job. :) Its a very nice looking game so far.

Rhuan, well you don't have to do any of the fixing, but if it's something like the sound file thing etc it would be handy just in case people think I'm ignoring them.

The best thing would be if you could possibly put some of the bugs that may get mentioned into a txt file and i'll fix them when I get back.

Well, if none of the things I found were bugs then great job. :) Its a very nice looking game so far.

The link I gave is a disk image, it's not writeable, so if you play on that you can't save, to be able to save, copy everything in there to somewhere else.

The times when the game kicked you out were bugs, as Waudby has just asked me to be his tester and fixer, I'll get to work on them now.

@Waudby: I've got free time, and I wrote quite a bit of this game's scripts, so if it's not working properly it reflects badly on me, even if the bits that don't work are your work rather than mine :P.

Waudby
July 7th, 2008, 06:59 AM
Ah thanks man, some of those bugs are because of how old the functions and that are, it's hard to go through them, I started the project after a loooooong break from sphere so most of the older stuff is rubbish. The battle system is being replaced so I haven't done much work on it for some time.

Rhuan
July 7th, 2008, 12:50 PM
Just to keep track, bugs fixed (I'm not uploading fixes for these at the moment, it's waudby's game not mine, so I've sent him the fixes):

Being able to move while the menu was up.
Being able to move during a cutscene after being asked a question.
Map animations speeding up when menus were shown or when talking.
Crash on the bag menu and cancel option not working.

Any bugs I haven't listed here that you've found, please post, except for battle related stuff. Waudby has started the battle system from scratch, so there's no point fixing the version that's in the demo.

Forgive me, but I accidentally voted "Terrible" where I meant "Good" xD.

It all looks nice, but use DP interiors, not FRLG. If the graphics are DP based, don't use FRLG graphics. Just a suggestion though.

jaysonic1991
July 8th, 2008, 03:59 AM
I think he would be there isn't any DP inside graphics made yet, Kyledove is doing the graphics and I don't think he's done inside yet. Might be wrong, but meh.

Waudby
July 8th, 2008, 07:44 AM
The interior graphics are being custom made as I go along with certain things, some objects like tv's and that will stayed the same, and there will be certain graphics in there from FRLG, remember the D/P ones are in 2d style not D/P style.

In other news: The battle system is progressing a bit further, however today is the last day I will be able to work on the game for the next few weeks.

I'll try and do as much as possible, but I wont rush it.

None of the newer RPG Maker Pokémon games have an FF-like battle system...

@ randomer

Thanks but how long did it take for you to learn the sphere game editor's language???
And are there any tut's worth looking at seeing as you're the main scripter here...
just thought i'd askJust to clarify, Waudby did a lot of his scripts himself, I just helped with bits he found tricky (like the battlesystem), and sorted out errors he'd made in a few cases.

I learnt enough to feel confident enough with sphere to start on my first sphere game in about two weeks, though my skill grew a lot while working on that game. (Don't ask for the game I gave up on it because I'd let it get too complicated, and I'd decided that the only way to do the game idea justice now was for it to be fully 3d, which would be very hard to do in sphere, I also needed more graphical support)

Anyway, I learnt mainly from this tutorial (I couldn't find it on the web anymore, so I've uploaded it in my webspace): www.spheredev.org/~rhuan/WT_tutorial.doc

It's not perfect, for instance, at one point it suggests writing:

" " + "hello"

Which will have an identical result to:
" hello"

It's aimed at people with no prior scripting/coding experience of any kind, and it was never finished, but it should sort the basics out for you I looked at a few other tutorials, but really, after that one I mainly went by experimentation and use of a file that comes with sphere called doc_functions.txt. (which probably won't make much sense to you till you've gone through the tutorial I linked above)

If you want me to help with any specifics, pm me, depending how bored I am, I may write example code for you, do some of you scripting for you, or try and explain in detail how to do want you want to do.

One other point, make sure you have the latest version of sphere, when I started that was 1.10988, now it's 1.5.

Now, lets not de-rail waudby's topic any further.

I dunno but if he is in santorini still then hes probably traumatized. If he was in that city then yeah probably. You know why? This guy chopped his girlfriends had off after chopping the dogs head off and then paraded the head round the town square and gone on a rampage almost killing a cop. They had to shoot him but not kill him so he can be in court. And thats probably why. As a tourist of santorini if still there woundt you be afraid to leave the house?

Just for you(Randomer) to know:
I use Windows.
The error message is like this: "Script Error in 'vars.js', line: 245. Could not load sound 'Battle/09 Battle! Wild Pokemon.mp3".
That is Waudby's lastest release.
I'm not 100% sure if that is Pokemon Odyssey.exe though.

Pokémon Odyssey is undergoing so major changes, so this is the reason there hasn't been an update.

So really major things are going to change so it's taking me a long time to do all this by myself. Hopefully after these changes the old version will only be a shadow of the new version :)

Everybody please keep the thread alive.

I'd like some more suggestions of things you would like to see in the game. I wasn't very happy with the release of the first demo, too many bugs for my liking. The next demo will be alot better but may take some time, alot of work is being done from scratch to improve the older systems.

Here's a sneak preview at the first stages of the new menu implementation, it's lacking the actually menu for now while i test everything else however, it does include the new side bar that I have scripted, It shows a clock, the semi circle, and an event window, of what event's are happening, and if you select them, they will tell you were to go and any extra details.

Waudby
September 19th, 2008, 09:21 AM
His clothes were changed to fit the colder climate of Sinnoh, not of the Everglade region :P however, as more background information, the game will feature a time system, and it will also (fingers crossed) have it's own seasons, which may contain new areas to find.

The time will play a larger use in this game than most in that, certain things and storyline events will only happen on certain days, as there will be about 3 or 4 storylines all crossing other, as is normal with most modern rpgs

Hehe waudby ive been waiting for the day youll post that. I got a list so long that youll be reading for hours! Nah kiddin but yeah its big.
1. The region is located inbetween kanto johto if i remember correctly right? So why not make that river next to the home town flow to tohjo falls? And make that the main connection point!
2. I really want to see a rank system. No acually dont cause then i cant use that.
3. We are goin to be comeptetors soon cause i have a sphere game on my hands so yeah im not goin to make the list long cause some of my ideas are saved for my use to make stuff clear.
4. Hmm i would like some kinda amity park in everglade.
5. If you add the season you would need every single city route town(and caves mabye) to match the season. So that would mean 20 or so maps times 4. Uggghhhh. I would feel bad for the spriter.
6.The rotom forms if included should get there own little haunted mansion in the everglade region. And please do what nintendo didnt and make there typage match the appliance they are and give em movesets.

Abd thats all i have to offer. A reason is number 3 mostly.

Waudby
September 19th, 2008, 02:08 PM
The season idea is actually quite easy in Sphere really, no more difficult than the time system, you just have to have an update script that checks the month, and turn on the correct seasonal layer as necessary.

Quite an easy system to do really, I just need to make a few different tiles now.

[css-div="font-variant: small-caps; "]Update:[/css-div]
[css-div="font-variant: small-caps; "]Gender Selection:[/css-div]
The way you select a gender has changed :)

It has now taken on the form of the "Touch Screen". Highlight the character you want to be and press the left mouse button.. and as if by magic, you choose that character to play as :P

http://www.spheredev.org/~waudby/screenshots/screenshot%202008.10.07%2014.37.08.0872.png http://www.spheredev.org/~waudby/screenshots/screenshot%202008.10.07%2014.37.11.0850.png

And what's this... Platinum characters... yes, I have recently updated the game to use the platinum heroes.

Now many people will comment on the reason they were introduce in Platinum due to the colder climate.

This isn't the same in Odyssey, however the area of the region in which the player originates from is significantly colder then many other places. So the clothes are needed.

Here is a video of the gender selection animation;

It would be possible to use the mouse for movement, but i'm not going to add it in, it takes away the real pokémon feel.

The Poketch will feature 9 of the standard features from previous games, as well as some new ideas I have come up with.

I'm now finishing the basic version of the naming system, so expect a few screenshots and perhaps another animation video.

This is not the final version as it does not contain the symbols page or some of the punctuation used in the official games. But it will be added if i get the right fonts, would someone be interested in making the font for me, from a resource sheet?

Work in progress shot of the naming system, please note the rest of the symbols etc will be added in on the final version.

Have you thought about making this a Homebrew DS game?
It'd also be cool if it was compatible with DP and Pt, but that's asking for alot.

And I have some ideas/requests for you: You can let a pokemon walk outside of it's pokeball behind you, When you surf, the sprite is of the pokemon you're surfing on, not a blob, or generic sprite, and Pokemon can learn up to 8 different moves.

That's right, a snow covered route, ignore Lucas' D/P clothes, I haven't finished updating the spritesets yet, but he will be in platinum atire shortly.

Not sure how outdated this is, but I compiled a list of minor grammatical errors and some glitches up to and including the battle with Dawn.

Intro:: Only two periods after "Now"

Room:: On the sign it says "Press Enter to enter the menu." It may be better to rephrase it as "Press Enter to open the menu."

Mom's Talk:: There is a comma missing in the "Oh, [name]!" part.

Professor Uing's Talk:: Near the beginning there is an it's when it should be its. PC is typically capitalized because it is an abbreviation, but it doesn't really matter. "It contains a small piece of the fragment[,] so be careful." You can't talk to Uing again until you pick a Pokemon.

Dawn, after the battle:: She capitalizes both see and ya in her sentence.

Glitches::
1. If you have the menu open and you press Left/Right, your character begins to move quickly on the screen. The game crashes a bit afterwards.
2. If you save before taking your Pokemon and load the screen again, it automatically asks you if you want to pick Chikorita.
3. Doors aren't working quite right, but I'm sure you know that.
4. The run option in the battle screen doesn't work.

However, the game is still very playable! I really hope this game goes far, and if you need any help, I'll try my best.

Waudby
October 23rd, 2008, 08:22 AM
Thanks for the comments and glitches etc, however, as previously stated, the demo is a very early version of the game, a newer version is now in development, with a touch screen being implemented and an overall more reliable system.

This has put back development times, but it will give an far better game in the long run.

I can safely say,. i'm very pleased with the results so far :D

I'm glad to say that I have a special surprise in the mix!

You will (hopefully) all be amazed by this, it's not a brand new concept for a fan made Pokémon however i believe only one game so far has tried and succeeded.

This is where I come in, not only have I attempted to implement this feature, I've got it working brilliantly, and also to a level where it gives me a huge amount of flexibility with the NPC's and characters of the game.

I'd like people to try and guess what this is :P

They will show off the feature slightly. The feature will play a huge part in the game and you will find yourself happy with the outcome.

I'm also looking for spriters to help with some new character sprites and clothing.

[css-div="font-variant: small-caps; "]Update:[/css-div]
[css-div="font-variant: small-caps; "]Quests and Log Book:[/css-div]

I've spent a lot of today working on getting the new Quest and Logbook system set up.
Some of this time was also getting it to merge into my Storyline system. This is now finished to a very workable state, so I bring to you the Log book and Quests screens...

http://www.spheredev.org/~waudby/screenshots/screenshot%202008.10.30%2014.27.29.0822.png

^ The new Log Book icon for the menu system.

^ The quest details screen inside the log book.

[css-div="font-variant: small-caps; "]Alignment and Reputation System:[/css-div]

Now if you looked at the images above, inside the quest details you would've seen two things new.

Alignment and Reputation.

I have promised these from the start but never got round to doing them. But because I started most things from scratch it gave me the chance to implement these smoothly into the game.

http://www.spheredev.org/~waudby/screenshots/screenshot%202008.10.30%2014.36.42.0892.pnghttp://www.spheredev.org/~waudby/screenshots/screenshot%202008.10.30%2014.36.58.0550.png

As you can see, the same person will be friendly or rude based around your alignment. It will eventually be based around your reputation as well, so you will get a big mix of text from just one character.

This has increased the game script by around 4 times the size of before. There are different lines for;

1. Being good and unknown.
2. Being good and well known.
3. Being bad and unknown.
4. Being bad and well known.

If you aren't very well known, your bad actions will not have as big effect on your alignment as if you were very famous.

http://www.spheredev.org/~waudby/screenshots/screenshot%202008.10.30%2014.31.28.0664.pnghttp://www.spheredev.org/~waudby/screenshots/screenshot%202008.10.30%2014.31.30.0583.png

You will get good quests and bad quests, the example above is obviously a quests with negative rewards.

Certain quests will only be available if you are famous enough and people trust your name.

This also shows off the next touch screen yes and no menu.

Please post comments and critisms.

Looks good. I'm looking forward to seeing how you will link all of it together rather then make it a gimmicky feature.

Thanks for the comments.

@Neo: The way it will work is actually quite simple in Sphere, so hopefully I wont mess up on it :P
It's one of the most complex systems that I've had to write. But now that it's set up it's quite easy to use.

It's only one line to create a new Quest, and then a few lines to add it to the storyline, and then it's finished.

So hopefully it'll make the game more unique.

wowzas, nice update.

the log book is an awesome addition. i have a bad habit of getting distracted in the middle of games, and not getting back to them for a few days... which usually ends up with me spending a half an hour trying to figure out what to do. =P

the reputation/alignment makes everything a lot more interesting, and definitely adds a lot more replay value.

best of luck, and keep up the good work! this is going to be a wonderful game. ^^

I'm working on creating a background for it but don't really know what would look really good with it.

how about just a simple square or circle background?

okay then.

thanks a lot.How about doing an ellipse made up out of points like the first example I did for you when you asked about how to do an ellipse menu, then the images could appear to be moving around a ring.

Thats looks really good. Instead of the touch things on the normal screen, would you be able to make it on a seperate screen like a bottom screen like Pokemon Beta? Not saying you have to be it makes it seem more like a DS and that makes it seem more official.

I was considering making it like that, however I don't want this to be an exact clone of the official games (system wise) so i think leaving it all on one screen is just as good.

It works really well, I really hope that I can make some good progress within the game's storyline so that I can release another demo soon.

Please don't advertise your game in my thread.

And as for new Pokémon Sprites, if someone can tell me where I can find the new Platinum sprites (m/f and shiny) then I will add the Platinum sprites in.

As for brand new fan made Pokémon... unless I can get a very good spriter and designer... no.
