[css-div="font-variant: small-caps; "]Pokémon Odyssey:[/css-div]
Hello everyone. I am James Waudby.
I've been working on game making for about 4 years now, so I like to think of myself as someone who knows what they're talking about.
Some people may remember my older projects - Pokémon Sky Blue or Pokémon Opal -
I was also part of a small team called the Spherians which has long since disbanded.
My latest game is, Pokémon Odyssey, if you hadn't already guessed.
Now, most fangames contain the same things or have the same goals. However I like to think of Odyssey as something slightly different, special if you will.
It will feature all the classic generic parts of the Pokémon games we know and love, but, there will be some major differences.
[css-div="font-variant: small-caps; "]Features:[/css-div]
The wonderful region that is Everglade. Which features extensive forests and sandy beaches, as well as bustling cities and relaxing lake towns.
A unique fan game trading system which after completion will be online.
A fun mail system, that allows you to receive randomly sent mail at your home.
Every Pokémon will be available to collect somehow.
Fun Pokémon contests, the old Bug Catching Contest, Fishing Contest and a few more.
Amazing custom tiles made by Kyledove. As well as some of my own.
Plus many more...
[css-div="font-variant: small-caps; "]Stories:[/css-div]
That's right "stories". This game will not feature one main storyline but a number of them.
I have written an extensive back story to the first major storyline that is enclosed in the following spoiler.
25 years ago, the Everglade region was home to nearly every species of Pokémon that were known to man. These Pokémon existed alongside the humans, many great accomplishments in the region were based on a Human-Pokémon relationship.
Professor Raintree, the leading Pokémon studier at the time, had been working on a very cutting-edge piece of software.
The software was a system which allows the storage of Pokémon (this research that he done would later aid Bill in the creation of his storage system), however there was a problem, the software was so energy intensive that it couldn't be powered easily.
A year on, scientists discovered a small fissure inside Mount Aster, after travelling into the fissure, they were amazed to find a glowing red stone, hundreds of tests were conducted to find out the origin of this stone, however their attempts found nothing. What was discovered about the stone however, was the fact that it emitted high levels of energy.
After a few years of conducting tests on the stone and trying to find a way to harness the energy that was being released, a major breakthrough happened, scientists from Ashen City developed a way to utilize the power from the stone into a reusable energy source.
Discussion went on, and they agreed to allow Professor Raintree to power the storage system using a cut from the stone.
All was going to plan, they built a prototype model of the storage system and moved it to Ashen City to be tested. The Stone Cutting was placed upon the power area and the prototype was started. The system ran smoothly and everybody was glad that it was a success.
So work then began on making a fully featured, fully working storage system based on this prototype. Work progressed quickly and within a matter of months the scientists had a machine ready to go.
The placed the stone on the area like before, and began powering up the machine. What they didn't realise is that this time, the machine would need even more power than what the simply stone cutting could provide. So while the system ran smoothly power only lasted for a short time.
Not wanting to be defeated by a lack of power, they replaced the cutting with the actual stone, and began to restart the powering process.
Everything was running fine, the system started up and the menu became available, Professor Raintree was the test user, he selected the Deposit option, and the Pokeball slot opened up. Professor Raintree had chosen Croconaw to be deposited.
This is where problems arose, as the compression started so that the Pokémon could be transferred, the stone began to change colour, flashing between red and blue, the scientists were baffled.
All of a sudden the lights went out. All power had ceased. A faint growl could be heard from inside the pokeball, the scientists couldn't begin to imagine what must've been taking place inside there.
An alarm rang. The flood warning. A wave 40 stories high was travelling toward the coastal city. No one had any clue where the wave came from, it hit Ashen City with it's full force, destroying everything, all live was seemingly gone from the area. All except three people...
The first to make an appearance from the flood, was Professor Raintree, a trainer of water Pokémon was able to use his Gyarados to safe himself and Croconaw's pokeball.
The second person was a scientist named Mark, he had used his flying Pokémon to fly him to rescue.
The last person was a man named James, he was somehow protected from the wave by an unknown force. James, is the protagonist's father.
The flood had spanned nearly the entire region, destroying homes and ruining lives. Most of the Pokémon had fled the region one way or another, the region felt empty of life.
Most people who weren't in the immediate area were safe, they had their material items ruined but still had their lives.
Slowly the region was rebuilt, a project known as PokéRes was created to help bring back Pokémon to the region. PokéRes used the Pokémon from other regions to breed back into the Everglade wildlife.
Professor RainTree returned to his home village and tried to open Croconaw's pokeball, however it seemed sealed completely shut, so now it sits in his lab, as one of many mysteries of the Everglade region.
[css-div="font-variant: small-caps; "]A Brand New World:[/css-div]
The Everglade region is a brand new area for players to explore, it features, wild forests, impressive routes in which the player has a number of different ways to pass through.
All in all, it feels like a real adventure.
I will post a finished list of all places when it is complete. A region map will also be shown above.

I am making this game solely on my own, with little help from a "team" if you are interested in being part of the game, then PM me and tell me what you're best at and give examples of work please. I will try to reply as much as possible however I am not solely on the planet for this game :P
You can also add the userbar, which is shown just below.
Or you can add theBanner which is shown below the userbar.
[css-div="font-variant: small-caps; "]Pokémon Odyssey is undergoing some changes, please be patient, an update will come.
Feel free to post ideas, character ideas, new features in the mean time, as I am coding alot so some of the features you suggest may be added in.

Also, If you get the "Could not initialise video subsystem" error do this;
Open Config.exe and in the video settings, select standard32 and tell it to run in windowed mode.

I have some more screenshots for everyone to see. I wanna hear you thoughts.
Not many storyline shots will be released before the demo, maybe just a few hinters.
But most of the upcoming screenshots are of some features that were added today.

[Two smalls hints at one of the small side quests in the game]
As with all Pokémon games, i'm gonna make some pokemon only acessible through special events.
The first special event will obviously be the demo release.
So stay fixed else you may miss the release and the special event pokémon :D
Plans for the first demo include;
-Working Pokémon selection screen
-2 Fully mapped towns, and 1 Route.
-Getting your first Pokémon.
-A temporary battle system til the final one is done.
-Special Event Pokémon - won't be easy to find out how to get it though.
-A few small side quests.
-Pokémon Summary screens.
-Partial Item System.
So thats what to look forward to in the first demo.
Comments? Ideas? Help? Post it all here :P
thanks.

It even amazes me more with the new screenshots although I want to see a screenshot of the battle system. It is the most important part most of all. Another thing you should do and I'm not sure if you already done this but in the inside part, see that window? Make it so it's bright in the day and dark in the night.

I know everyone is waiting for the battle system to be shown.
i'm now working on a graphical version to show everyone.
All the stats are loaded in, I just need to finish scripting in the moves.
I won't have the animations for the demo release.
Progress is still being made, I'll hopefully have something later to show.

SUGGESTION;
pokemon moves, dont make it 4 like the other games...ake it like the tv shows where a the higher the level a pokemon the more amount of moves he can learn in total
eg upto lev 50 pokemon can learn 4 moves max, at lev 50 make it 5 moves, then at 60, 6 and then at 70, 7 etc

The only problem with that is the menu system. It's makes it hard to have such a large move set in limited space and make it look graphically good.
I'll make a test of it though and let you know.
-EDIT-
Two more screens of the WIP battle system:

I finally got some new d/p battle stuff, so now each part of these screenshots can be altered easily, for instance, I could change the background but EVERYTHING else would stay the same etc.

I will use them. Want to keep their look secret til the demo release.
Also any chance of getting them in rm2k3 format.
If you can do a brand new professor that would be good, and put that on the rm2k3 styled sheet, it makes importing them easier in sphere.
cheers.
@ Espreon: One of the main reasons for cyndaquil being that starter was cos of your post, i like to keep people happy.
But I have also thought of a way of encorporating them all into it.
@ TY: Thats mighty close. But there's also another suprise later on in the game for the people who don't like who they recieve.
New Story Feature:
I thought I'd update with part of the demo story.
It's a very basic part but instead of just being given your Pokémon, you have to do something for it, it's not very challenging but it just adds a little more community feel to the first town.
A new mart is opening in town but has no stock so Professor Uing has to deliver the package to the mart owner.
He ask's you to go for him.
Once you get to the owner he takes the package from you and ask's a favour of you (yes it is a little bit off going between places)
He wants you to go and collect some honey off the honey tree.
You then get taught by Mr Honeycombe all about the honey trees and Pokémon they can house.
Return to the owner with the honey to complete this quest. Professor Uing will give you your payment once you return to the PokéLab.
What do people think? Any suggestions for it? Ways I can make it more fun etc

paste them onto paint (assuming you have that in the accessories menu)
then select them using the dotted box tool thing.
right click on em, then hit "sketch/skew"
change the top 2 boxes to 50
then hit ok. they'll be the right size.
and u can also move them with the same tool.
select them, then grab them.

I know kyle doves new D/P tiles are 16 by 16 pixels, and the official D/P sprite of Lucas is bigger (its width is 17 or 18- so it kinda looks weird going into smaller doors) - I still think you should stick with the D/P overworld just for know. Otherwise, you would have to revamp every overworld sprite of the NPCs to get the right look.

I am only switching to Sphere v2 (which is in experimental stages atm) because my friend (matmunn14 on spherical) has sort of convinced me. And a lot of other people on Spherical are using Sphere v2 now because of how logical it is. It's rather confusing at first glance but if you search the wiki for the V2 Interface it becomes a lot simplier. Just remember, you will have to convert ALL of what you have coded so far to the new style. Can be quite a hefty task.

I was tempted to change over but liek you said I'd have to convert all my scripts so far.
So that put's me off.
Which while the screens don't show too much has been done, all of features have been coded so far which haven't been shown in screenshots.
I think I'll stick to 1.14 for the game and upgrade for the next project I work on.
Anyways: Update :)
Changed the story a bit as I wasn't happy with the one I previously posted.
All I wanna say about it, is it involves a big earthquake ;)
EDIT:

Every Pokémon has already been added with all stats etc.
All thats left is to program each move for each pokemon at certain levels.
Just a matter of importing the data and writing a new function.

I have now finish all the scripting for the first demo storyline.

Good job so far on this, nice to see someone able to make use of Sphere! Something I can't do...
Nice graphically, and it seems well scripted.
A couple of suggestions! The night shot needs to be darker with a stronger hint of blue in the screen tint. But it's good to see that you've got lit windows ;) and also, consistency with capitalisation. Pokémon names like Cyndaquil have always been written as CYNDAQUIL (unless nicknamed in lowercase). If you're using the D/P naming method, Pokémon names are the only things completely capitalised, so the NPCs, attacks, items, places and the word "Pokémon" are written with just their first letter in capitals. If you're using the old method, every darn thing is capitalised!
But these things apart, awesome job :)

The battle system is being recoded before the demo release as the last one was messy and poorly written.
So hopefully that will be sorted out soon, I now wanna work on the pokemon selection screen and get that up and running.
I also have to fill in all the items and sort the system out for items as well.
Alot of work to be done but hopefully at the end of it i can focus on the rest of the game and systems as the larger systems would have been finished.
I can't wait to get a release out for this so people can really appreciate what can not be seen in screenshots.

A slightly usable battle system is now sorted. Theres a few options and moves not ready yet, but the basic Tackle, Pound etc can be used.
The A.I has still got to be implemented but at least it's something that's working right now.

With the help of a friend on the spherical forums, you can now have multiple save files, with the ability to delete them from the main screen.

These save files aren't basic text files being loaded anymore, they a raw files. which makes the content harder to hack into.
So you can't change that level 30 pikachu into a level 100 as easily anymore lol.

I know. I just like them to be done in the sphere engine as it saves them under a name based around the date and time so everything is kept chronilogically.

Well, he could simply make a server so people could trade online. He could include friend codes that way....
But, you should wait to see what Waudby has to say, I'm only speculating x3
Waudby
April 23rd, 2008, 03:27 PM
Okay.
Let me explain the trading system a bit more thoroughly:
1. First of all, you select the trade option in game.
2. The person behind the counter then explains where to find the file whihc has been created, (i.e: the Save/Trade directory)
3.You can then upload that file or send it via IM and exchange it for another pokemon.
4.Then put the received file into your Save/Trade directory.
5. Then when you next go into the Pokémon Center, speak to the person behind the counter again and if there's a new Pokémon waiting to be imported it will tell you.
The way it knows if you need to import a pokemon is by one of the settings in the file being called, "ready?", if ready equals true then when you next speak to the person it finds out if "ready?" is set to true. If it is then the pokemon is imported if not then it won't be.
"ready?" is then set to false to stop multiple importing.

Ok thanx I am bit confused but thanx. I understand algorithms cause we jsut got into it.
It shouldn't be that confusing. In the simplest form, it just involves swapping a file with a friend and then putting that file into ur game and selecting yes in a menu.
That's all the player will see.

if you mean save files, I think it should be possible to play on another pc with them aslong as all the files are there, I can't see why it would cause an error.

I did think about that already and thats why each file is going to have a code attached to it, and when you import it into the game, it adds that code into an array, and when importing files it check the code against any codes already in the array.
If the code is in there, it will bring up an error telling the player that they have already used that file :)

Doesn't stop a player from copying their save file and making two different files of the same Pokémon...
I've got a similar system in my own game. The only thing I could come up with to solve this was to have the game connect to a server, create the file, and make the server record how many times you've made a trade file.
Then, if you tried to do it again with a copy of the save, the number wouldn't match, and it would stop you from making it.
The only problem with this is that I don't know how to code a server that can do that :S
Waudby
April 24th, 2008, 05:21 AM
My system will stop people from copying the traded pokemon so they can have two of the same, as like I said;
1. Chooses the pokemon to trade.
2.Creates Pokemon file + id code.
3.Player imports pokemon;
if the id code hasn't been used, add it to the list of codes.
if the id code has been used, tell the player they cannot import.
And people can't just hack into their files as the aren't saved as text files anymore, they are .dot raw files. so that when the user opens the file in a text editor.
All that he will see if random jargon which cannot be decyphered.

Yeah I liek the flexibilty of Sphere. It really allows you to code what you want from the ground up instead of having to modify existing code.

It's just something I haven't coded in yet. Semms rather minor at the moment.
Some more minor screenshots today of the updated battlesystem, graphically there's not much difference but internally, I've now written over 1000lines of code and thats without the update A.I system I need to write as well as the item usage in a battle.

There's going to be an AI system? I'm eager to see how that'll work out. But what's it for? Is it for double battles where you have another team mate or something?
Either way, this looks like a really good project. All I can say is increase the saturation of the grass tile a bit more; it'll look better that way. Expect a detailed critique once the demo's out. ;)

Yeah you got it, it's all so that if a person has a potion it will use the potion when the pokemon's hp is too low etc.
Same for if the player's pokemon are holding berries.
It's also needed to decided if a wild pokemon can flee or not.
There will hopefully be a few new additions to the game so that it can be played a little bit different.
As the word odyssey means long eventful journey, the game needs to be packed full of adventure.
So I will be releasing addons to the game after the final release.
It may mean that kanto hoenn johto and sinnoh may make an appearance, or possibly even all of them.
Which would people like to see the most?
The Pokémon Guild will also play a big part in this game.
I've decided that to break up the monotony of defeating gyms the region of Everglade will not have it's own pokémon league.
Instead you will be tested in the Pokémon Guild to pass to the next rank.
Eventually the guild will grant you a pass to the next region which can be chosen by you.
The game will then progress as any other pokemon game with gyms.
As well as the lack of gyms, it also has a lack of an "evil team", it's more centralised on rivalry then good and bad.
SO once again Everglade will not feature an evil team at the beginning.
There will be instances where evil people will be shown but other than that it's fairly straight forward.
This way I can even add an extra guild quest or two as a minor update.

May 2nd, 2008, 11:53 AM
So since there is gyms you progres through the guild? Cool! Also I want just 3 that will make me happy: Johto,Kanto, Sinnoh. Or instead of sinnoh make the tohjo region. But then agai berserkpaladin is doing tohjo. So make everglade above johto and kanto. Make it the witdh of the 2 combined with a path leading to the falls. Make the falls a tri-fork in the road. But with johto being blocked until kanto badges are collected. Or dont do any of that cause you think its a stupid idea or something lie that.

I need someone to help me with the world map, I've got the basic outline for where the routes and citys etc are, I'm just not very good at spriting the land masses etc.
If you're seriously interested in doin gthis then let me know, credit will be given at the end of the game etc.
It's in the style of D/P
so either post in here with an example of wat you can do, or pm me with the same.
thanks.

You don't exactly need to be a great spriter you need to be good at shading to make it look like land masses by the looks of other maps.
Waudby
May 4th, 2008, 05:51 AM
I know you don't have to be a spriter to do it, i'm just busy scripting the systems and haven't had time to do any new graphical work,so most of the stuff will be directly from the d/p rom.
I've done a little bit more storyline.
And have decided that the demo will end when you register for the POKéMON GUILD so all in all, you get to make your way through, 2 towns (one town is fairly big though), 5 routes and a city.
I think that is enough for the demo.
I still haven't got a date for it yet, theres a few bugs that need ironing out, but the game runs smoothly for the most part.

Thanks alot bob5000, that kind of comment always inspires me to work better and progress faster.
I really want to get this demo out so everyone can see the progress.
It's not a perfecty demo with all the systems and the battle system is still graphically lacking.
But it's still good for people to aprreciate the work being put in.
I've just added all the experience features into the battle system so now you can gain levels.
I've just got to flatten out a few bugs with it and it will be done.

Also redone some of Cresent Forest so I thought I'd show it off;

But it's easy enough to change.

Do you think, you can implement some location like in R/S/E and D/P games, like for example your versions of undergrounds, safari zone, move tutors, deleters, daycare and battle frontier? I think good pokemon rpg must some elements who can extend time of play after main events end. Maybe you can do more trainers battle sprites for choose <there can be only 2 map sprites but i think variety of battle sprites can make more real online pvp battles>?

Yes that's right the bug catching contests, think back to those good old G/S/C days eh ;)
I've also now got another update that will hopefully pluck peoples interest.
After the main storyline is finished, there will be add on quests that will tie everyone over until I can release a new Release Pack.
The johto region will be featured in the first release pack after the main game.
You will also recieve a new piece of equipment, the POKéQUEST.
It's a new quets journal that keeps track of your quests, it seems as though after the events of the main game, people are looking for more help than usual :D
The quests will vary from , deliver this letter to X all the way through, please train this rare pokemon, or hatch this egg, the quests will come from the POKéMON GUILD as you will be made an honoury member.
The will also be about 4 on going stories throughout the whole game which will keep you interested.

Bug Catching Contest?!? Super!! Ekhm... that's sound good. :P I think there can be better like in G/S/C because now is a lot of bug pokemons and they're more powerfull. I like bug type and i hate pokegames where that type is lower to role weak pokemons for training in initial phase of game. :/ I like too idea of 2 generation starters, i think that trio it's very similar in power and don't have any additional types. I hope, there can be obtainable other generation starters.
Quest Journal? O_o No way!! You read ideas from my mind!! :P I think in that forum are 3 impressive pokemon games: Amethyst, Raptor and your Odyssey. That 3 games are better like Nintendo games. I hope, you can complete this project and create one of better pokemon game.
Waudby
May 8th, 2008, 01:08 PM
Once I start to develop the story a bit more past the first demo, you will see how the 2nd generation starters fit into the sub-storyline.
Previous starters will be available by dffierent means than by from different professors.
Think back to Pokémon yellow, where you could receive bulbasaur, charmander and squirtle.
It will be similar to that.
Archayos
May 8th, 2008, 01:11 PM
Why not just make them wild Pokemon? I think that will be quite a unique idea.
Waudby
May 8th, 2008, 01:18 PM
I wanted to suprise people with this in game but i guess this is as good time as any.
The way that I will do the other starters, Everglade region is home to every starter pokemon except G/S/C ones, they are trying to be bred into the region by importing them from johto.
The pokemon trainers receieve from the Professors all orginate from the Everglade region, they are specially bred, and raised from eggs until level 5 where they are transported to the region which needs them.
You visit this pokemon breeding farm on a certain storyline event, in which you can decide to steal one of the pokemon or complete a series of missions based at the farm, one which includes visiting the parent pokémon to recieve egss of the previous starters. you will not be able to get all of them at once, so it is once again based on your reputation.
If you decide to steal it, it will bring in another new feature that I am implementing, the usage of reputation, but this time it has a purpose, after graduating the Pokemon Guild, you will be told that your rep will effect the amount of guild missions available to you, while you can increase rep easily, by completing missions, you can also lose it easily, but doing bad things, or by not fullfilling certain critearia set by the person in need.

I've added a new feature for the demo..... Honey.
It will not be like the honey feature in D/P. This is more of a collecting effort and then you get your reward.
Honey will be collected from the Honey trees this time around.
After you collect 5 pieces of honey, you can return to the Honey man, who will take the Honey and use it to find a wild Pokémon.
The Pokémon he finds is entirely randomly selected out of a list of Pokémon, each with their own chance of being caught.
The level the Pokémon is, will be based on an average of your current party Pokémon.

Yeah, I'm also looking forward to a demo of this game. I've only ever played one fan game in Sphere, so I'm looking forward to seeing how you got on with it. This game looks the part. I don't like the D/P character sets though. kyledove made the tiles in "advanced" style. Meaning 16by16 pixels. The D/P character sets are bigger then advanced (i think even the width is like 17 pixels) so it looks odd going through a 16 by 16 door (yeah, I messed around with those tiles too lol). But that is really minor. Like really really minor and nobody will care man.
Plus, I remember you did have Kyledoves "lucas" sprite- back around page 2 or 3 right- and people said keep the D/P style. (plus, i think I SAID KEEP THE D/P one. ha) I guess I havn't gotten over it.
I had a quick look over the thread (stress the word "quick") - didn't see much details on the trading system. Care to go into it a bit deeper for us? Like hows it work and will it be in the demo?
Wichu
May 16th, 2008, 12:11 PM
From what I've heard about the trading system, it seems to be similar to the Mystery Gift system in my game... Basically, the Pokémon is turned into a file, which is then e-mailed etc to someone else, who then downloads it to their game.
Waudby
May 16th, 2008, 01:43 PM
The way the trading system will work at the moment is, the game will create a file for you, which you exchange with a friend and then loaded into the game.
The file will have enclosed your player id so that you can't change which pokemon you get or accidentally import you own back into the game lol.
The system will be like that until I figure out how to do it over the internet than the trading feature will be online.
At the moment, I have not implemented it into the demo.
I could implement it quite easily though.
So if trading is something that people want in the demo.
Say now, if people post saying they want it, I'll add it.

You may find it looks rather familiar.

Yes, that looks very good... I see you took some battle system graphics from Pokémon Platinum.
It looks very good! The only thing that doesn't suit this style are Kyledove's tiles.
They are WAY too rustic to mix them with Diamond and Pearl's bright and clear graphics.
Anyway, keep up the amazing work, Waudby!

I like the battle system! Pokemon Platinum style. I also make my HP box base on the game, but not actually the same. Actually, good luck with it!

In honour of the old Pokémon game being made in Sphere; Pokémon Call of Latios being made by Booda Sack.
I have based my next update on that game.
With the new graphics being based heavily on the ones used for this system in that game.

Enjoy :)
This is also now being added to the demo.
So far the list has grown far from what I planned.
The demo now contains;
- 3 Towns/cities/villages, 4 Routes, a forest.
- Simple Half Working Pokedex System.
- Pokemon Selection Screen.
- Pokemon Summary (half finished due to lack of data at the moment).
- A working battle system, not finished though, will be worked on.
- PokeGear.
- Saving/Loading/Deleting.
- Honey Man quest beginning.
- The first 6 main storyline entries.
- Grass Animation system.
- Day/Night.
- Intro screen before the titlescreen.
- Introduction with Prof Uing.
A longer list than was expected.
I may not be able to get the demo out until july, because the next few weeks hold a strange list of events for me.
Work will die down after the 9th June, because I have throat surgery, and then a set recovery time in hospital.

AHA cool also I wanna know if call of latias ever got a demo. And feel better. I know how boring the hospital is if the nurse is a 50 year old hag. If not....LUCKY YOU.

Call of Latios never got a demo, Booda Sack just wanted to release the full game but then lost all the data.
He did come back for a while and start Tilko Adventures but no one has heard from him in a long long time.
It's safe to say that his fan game days have ended.
I'm now looking for a mapper, if anyone is interested.
Someone who can map well and stick to how I need things mapped out and someone who likes to get creative.
It would also help drive the game while I'm in hospital.

Sorry to double post, but I have another new feature that needs attention...
Have you ever wanted to take a screen shot of your Pokémon game that you are playing? Maybe in battle to show of some awesome moves.
Well, now I have implemented an easier way. Just at the press of a key, your game will take a screen shot place a small watermark on there (which can be easily customized) just to authenticity.
It will date the screen shot as well.
I know it's not much different than just pressing Print Screen, but this does all the leg work no removing the window frame or renaming it, it does it for you.
Also, as you know, the demo will feature wild Pokémon battles.
So now, I have Route 04, and I would like people to pick which wild Pokémon they would most like to see on Route 04.
I don't want stupid answers like Mew etc.
Serious answers only.

Okay I made the decision, it will be, Hoppip, Sunkern, Poliwag and Wooper.
Two will aid the player in the next area, two wont aid as much.
Next Update will be at 200 posts.
SO get posting only a small ways to go.
MAJOR UPDATE:
I've just implemented a simple online system.
It allows me to connect to another player and see us both move around.
I havent tested it with another machine yet, but it works fine with two versions of the game on one machine.

*sigh* You can't! If you hadn't been lazy and read through the thread, you'd find it's not even out yet. And you need Sphere to play this game. And if you think this is a hack, then you're in the wrong section. So please stop asking the same thing in every thread.
On the other hand, you're doing a fantastic job with this game so far Waudby, can't wait to see more :)

hey.. i didnt say something about a hack..
*sigh* If you hadn't been lazy and read my message correctly you will see that i didn't mention anything about a hack.. and look at the thread.. it clearly shows..
"CREATIVE DISCUSSIONS "

it means the game discussed in here are not hacks.. so how could you say im in a wrong section??..
hmmn.. by the way to the creators ofthis game..
I'm sorry if i ask that question.. but people can answer my question with out being RUDE you know.. Hey gudluck to your work. and i like the story of the game.

Yay 200th post for Oddyssey!
Sent you the maps via pm. :)
@ ke14nt
You asked what emulator you needed to play it, emulators play roms, which for a game project would be hacked, therefor implying you meant a hack.
So mabye you should be careful of waht you type first?
Go back and read the topic and you will learn there is no demo as of yet.

May 24th, 2008, 09:46 AM
No need to go crazy, it's not really a big deal. And I said IF you thought it was a hack, because you asked what emulator you need to play this game. Like bob5000 said, emulators are for ROM hacks.
I apologise if I sounded rude, but I just assumed you were one of those annoying people who assumed fangames were hacks.

@ Houndoomed and bob5000..
hey guyz.. im sorry if i'd used the word emulator.. i didnt thouht that it would be a great deal to you..
since im playing my pokemon games in my pc with a use of an emulator such as VBA.. i thought that what i meant from waht i have type was "if this game is playable in a pc not in a game boy what tool should i used to play this one". that's why i used the word emulator..
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
from what i've understand from the word emulator it is like an imitation of another thing.. just like in gameboy we have an imitation of it that is why some people can play it in their pc..and in our place it is called gameboy emulator..
that's why i used the word emulator..
--- and BTW
i've used the word emulator because they call VBA as an emulator..
Hey guys i'm sorry..just want to explain myself..

Alright man, all I got to say is W-O-W. Your game is amazing. The maps are put together so well, and just the feel of the game is great. The battle engine is great, and the way all the scripts work are, like I said before, amazing.
I myself can't wait for the full release of this game. And to the people who may have thought little about this game, think again. This game is great, and as beta tester for this game, I'm completely blown away.
This game shows how sphere, in my opinion, is the best game creating engine out there. There are so many possibilities with sphere, that it just bypasses all the other engines out there.
Awesome man, amazingly awesome

Obviously, at the moment the game does look liek a clone of the official games. Which I guess is a good thing, interior tiles are now being updated for the game.
Once I am happy with all the basic systems being done, I will start adding my own touch to the game with newer features and ideas. As well as delving deeper with the back story of the Everglade region.
So far I have planned about 100 Guild Missions for the player to do during the cause of the first region.
Subsequent regions will be released at a later date.
EDIT:
I have just finished mapping out the basic stuff for Everglade's National Park, ready for the bug catching contest :D
It started of fairly small, but slowly the map grew and there's now some cool little pathways for when the player has cut and surf, helps to keep the player going back for more :P

So far the demo has, 3 Towns/ Cities, 4 Routes, a Forest, and now National Park, plus interiors for each.
I will do maybe another route and then another town with a gym, and then the demo size will be finished, then I will need to fill in all the missing details and what not.
Looking good Waudby ^.^

Not at the moment, I'm getting all the mapping down and then focus on the finer details like animations.

I based the National Park on the one from johto, with a few changes to it though.
I miss the feeling of johto because it felt less linear to the rest of the games so far.
I'm trying to bring a certain open endness to the game.

Been working on some more maps, but I got really distracted by the new Route I have made.
It's a huge route with different terrains, it's got a very open feel, with a few different possible ways through it, and some extras thta will only be available after progressing far enough and collecting certain HM's.
So here I present, Route 05 :D
