I am gooing to try and see if I can make a demo based on that Pokemon Naranja ( Orange ) Hack, ill post some more screenshots once I have more to show :)

Im basically done.What do you think i should add? Its two regions and an Elite Four Island accessible by Ferry Via the SouthEast town on the island on the left.

Way to big for a Pokémon game, but I like it! Maybe you can add a battletower if you dont have one already, otherwise you could make something like the Sevii Islands.

That's not bad, but I reckon you could improve it. For a start, you should change the default day/night tinting values; the default colors are way too dark and blue. You could also display a picture of the Pokémon you're selecting to make it a bit more exciting.

Some progress on my game.
Troblupolis City, a metropolis on an island south from your hometown. Oddly, your hometown is cold and full of ice, while the city, only 2 miles further, has a tropical climate.

Um...looks great, but why is there one random yellow tree? If it blended in, and there are more of them, then that's o.k. but you don't have more than one, and it doesn't really blend in.

Hehehe.. I've made some major changes. The perspective contained too many bugs, and the 100 years in the past thingy made the game quite limited.. so we're back in the 2d present. :P

The tiles don't blend together very well... and maybe make the sandpath a bit more interesting? It's just... a line now.

I never really like those trees (the skinny ones). Still don't. I'd say exchange those for a different tree, maybe the ones from HGSS? Those could work. ;D It's just because your tileset seems more 3D, and those seem 2D. Also, the yellow tree. You should finish the base. It's a green base and green sides, but yellow middle and top. Make sense? Only quibbles.

Looking nice, there, Aquakip. I'm really liking the canopy effect and the torches.

The only thing that doesn't seem right has to do with the dirt path. See how it goes from light to really dark green? Well, my suggestion would be to add a color in between those.

I use alot of different trees in my game, and those were the most appropriate for the area. And btw, those are the HGSS ones :P And yeah, you're right about the yellow tree, but it isn't there anymore xD, so no worries. And thanks for the compliment about my tiles looking 3d :D
Your screen looks awesome too. Like Alistair said, the dirtpath or light effect (I think it's a light effect) could use some transition. Good job next to that!

Anyway. I've got more for everyone to take a look at. They're of the City just before the forest, Avocet City.

3.) Standing outside one of the houses in Avocet (looks like a Barrow from Lord of the Rings xD)

I really love those trees your using, who made them? Also, those houses do look like the Barrows (or is it Burrows?) from LoR XD. Very vibrant colours, can't wait to see more.

They are ripped, I dont have any custom indoor tiles, and I dont know how to make them work with kyle's tiles... Why do you think I was reluctant to change them...

This is all I have... I really like kyledove's tiles and I dont plan on changing them at all. But its either ripped 4th gen or 3rd gen... 4th fits better you guys say. I really dont know what to do about this problem. I could try to recolor them but honestly i dont know where to begin...

For crying out loud, the problem isn't with the fact you're using 3rd gen graphics, it's that they're bad ones. Look at the indoor graphics in Malachite: http://www.pokecommunity.com/showthread.php?t=159560
They're really good. Try to replicate that.

You see this is just the stuff I'm talking about, you all complain bout the 3rd gen tiles now when I do change them they are still wrong... OMFG this crap is frusterating. I'll stick with the 4th gen ripped, you guys dont like it too bad... OI also has spriters working for him as I've said before my specialty isn't graphics especially pixel art... And they are custom tiles....
Everyone wants to complain, but noone wants to make an effort to help fix it... Its staying as is. So those screens are current and so are these:

Don't call me you all, I've been with the 3rd gen gaphcs from the start. The only part I didn't like was the gym. In my game I acually used 3rd gen indoors with 4h outdoor and it looked fine, I had no spriters, I just used the right tiles. Sorry I can't view the screens.

Erm, Charizard, in case you were unaware, Kyledove actual created custom 4th Gen indoor tiles that go with his outdoor tiles quite well; I think they're actually included in your resource pack.

Al you need to do is correct the shape of the tiles and redo the shading. That's all.

But what it is is a fully functional scrolling region map; the art is currently offcenter, not the scrolling. The map scrolls the way it does in HG/SS, allowing for essentially limitless horizontal space. I'm debating a public release of it; I do worry that we'll have lots of idiots making terrible games involving huge, long lines of regions because "hey look i can copy/paste PokemonRegionMap", through...

No addidng a rediculous amount of land is what you dont want. and that last part was just stupid. I dont think there is anything wrong with wanting to add a little more to a region map...over doing it would be a bad thing.

But why'd you mention it? What other purpose would it serve?

The problem is in the fact that you don't NEED it. I did this because I already had an extremely large region and it's more natural than segmenting. You want to add more that you didn't plan for to take advantage of a new tool.

where did you get that from? Are you sure your facts are straight? have you been to my thread recently? I had long planned to add more but couldnt because i had no way of doing it. I advise you go there first before making assumptions about my project.

It is fine though, if you did not intend to share the tool, then why mention it? No one is going to beg you, it just seems like you mentioned sharing it just to get a reply.

Im still wondering how you are going to tell me what I planned for, especially since everyone else around here or most of the people that check my thread no differently lol

I don't really frequent this place, and didn't feel like bothering with a 73 page thread.

Anyway, if you say so, I'll probably let you use the modified PokemonRegionMap; just wait for me to do a bit more work. The scrolling works, but it's not as smooth as I'd like.

Erm...I am pretty sure those tiles were created by Newtiteuf, not Kyledove. They were created in Kyledove's old style.

I never said those were kyle's I said I found his and I was showing off the new screens. I know they were. I didnt update my credits in my thread. I dont credit the wrong people. Where is the refrence that the pics below are kyles. I said "other" bad word, but I never once said that the pics below were actually credited to him. I said "other" cause someone thought I had them in the resources i've provided.

Is the keyword in that sentence... I changed the topic and showed to current screens from my game. Like I said I could have worded that better, but its not like kyledove shouldn't get some credit for the tiles.

We are the public, so, when you do something that might not look good, it's not only in your best interest, it's in everyone's best interest.

I think the transition from 3rd gen to 4th gen is better. It fits more. I think you could possibly move the bed up 1 tile and to the left 1 tile. It'll make it seem like there's less space.

I must say, nice ani's you got there. The backdrop of the main menu seems non-pokemon for some reason. How did you change it anyway :P???

@Colbex: The move animations puixels are twice as big as the others, meaning it will look terrible in the normal resolution.

Why do those tent things have windows..? I don't know if they also do have them in HGSS, but it looks pretty weird.
On the second screen the shading looks weird, it's lighter than the ground underneath it. Also, I think you've overdone the exclamations in the text bar (''Why?!!!'') Just turn it into ''Why?!''. Looks much more professional.
Otherwise they look good.

Well the images in your siggy are good but i dont think the clear water is a good idea...It'd be better if you used the HGSS ocean tiles...But the screenies are good

Why not? They're more like marquees than tents, anyway (the way they're being used), and those can definitely have windows. The window designs, though, could be improved (their white outlines are too thick).

Otherwise they look good.Normal tents have windows, and yes, it does in HG/SS as well. I've changed them a little now after what Maruno said. I've completely removed the shadows, it's inside after all. It was only supposed to be a joke, that's not actually going to be in the game, but I see your point, so changed.

Pretty impressive screenshots. How did you get the water reflections working properly? Usually the reflections starts right on the brown edge, but yours properly starts on the water.

Wow, ●•ΛΣЯӨЩ•●, Those look very nice! Although something feels off about the cave. The stair case doesn't look like it fits quite right, and the gray bordering the cave walls and certain objects seem to stick out. Maybe edit the color a little bit, or make it semi- transparent.

I'm actually trying to get the mapping perfect before starting with the actual scripting/eventing. (Although I cannot script to save my life, so if anyone wants to help, feel free to PM me.)

Looks much better Aquakip! Really nice strating town now. Maybe you could add a rock or two to the beach to just liven it up a bit? Or a shell or something along those lines.

A bunch of screens for Pokemon: Saints. Includes the updated sprites of the player and Lili, the first version of the Pokemon Center interior, part of the wilderness (which has trees that need to be fixed), and a couple of updated battle screens, including an example of messing around with the animations, which is unfortunately off-center.

Why would you watermark someone else's public tiles? It seems rather silly to me. Still, it's a nice enough revamp of Littleroot, although there's a lot of space to the south-east because the lab is so far to the left.

Wow, lots of great screens to rate!

@Soul.//Silver: Good name. The tiles are a little unimaginative since you've mainly used direct rips from HG/SS. Maybe try changing the pallets on the grass and using different trees. Always good to see Alucus' tiles.
It's quite hard to see what it looks like, since it's night, but that little bit you've shown looks well mapped.

@Zadow: Now that's what I'm talking about! Brilliant mix of tiles, I'd never have thought of mixing the Alucus (or mayble Alistair?) Poke Mart/Centre tiles with those Dewitty ones. The long grass matches and, for once, that grass looks great too. Only one problem, you haven't set some of the shadows to transparent. Apart from that, perfect.
The second is just as good. The fog compliments it well, without detracting to much from the tiles. The use of a different grass is also good, it looks more polished like that. You used Poke overworlds too!
If all the maps are this nice, then I can't wait for this game.

@shinylugia249: Yay! More Ryen screens!
The stairs are great, I've never seen them that way before. The new overworlds are great too, I'm wanting that style for my game. The only bad thing about this screen is the AA on the parts next to the stairs, in this case I think it would just be better to stay without it as it's too noticable and detracts from the rest.
That background's from FF right? It looks great. Having the options under the text is very innovative, I'd never have thought of that. Great work.

A lot of people do rip of course, but the most popular tilers (Alucus, Alistair, Dewitty) actually look at the screen and try and copy it. Or do it from memory. It makes the tiles a lot more unique.

I have been hiding this screen for a while now, and I figured I might as well release it since it is a bit outdated now.

Anyway. I really like the menu, it all looks really good and I like how you can see through. The only part that's not perfect is the render on some of the images in the menu. Who made the water? I really like it.

For the second screen. Also very good, but there are a couple of errors. First, the sides of the trees should be conncted in the to at the right and two at the left side of that part. The other is the ledge, it doesn't have an ending tile likeit should.

My first "3D" cutscene of an ingame event from Blue Chrome. This one is with the mighty Shadow Lugia, which is battled in the Phantom Realm. Just on a side note, this is not a new Pokemon (so 494 in the Pokedex), this is just Lugia's altered form when in the Phantom Realm. If you take it out of there...it will turn into the normal form Lugia. Anyways enough with the talking and here with the screenshot.

EDIT: The screenshot on the right is the animation when travelling through the two dimensions. Just thought I'd make it nicer instead of keeping it a boring player transfer. Btw...the background is animated, and the player is spinning around, looks quite funny actually :D

EDIT2: Made some minor adjustments to the 3D cutscene, to make it even better 3D.

EDIT3: Everybody seems to be thinking this so I'll say it loud and clear. This is NOT Mode 7 system, it's my very own 3D handler, and it will be used just for 3D cutscenes, not the whole game.

Just a screenshot of one of the many (currently the only one mapped) shrines/dungeons in my game. Yes, that menu is actually working...except the Debug and Options. Also, that dot thing in the middle of the menu is actually the mouse icon.

Upper left is for OW adventure. Right screen is for menus and the bottom is the HUD, showing your team and menu buttons. I have not added them to the game just yet.

I don't really expect much feedback for my screenshot; seeing as it's NOT Pokémon. Although, my opinion may be biased seeing as it's based on past experiences. I really like the visual style, and the only problem I really have with that screen is the design of the main character, but that's just because I prefer realism in games rather than exaggeration. I would also really love it if you were to post it on PC, we haven't had nearly enough non-Pokemon games posted here.

Cilerba fixed the script for me, so, many thanks go to him. Here is another example of the edited script, but, the dialog box has been moved up to the top of the screen in actually gameplay as not to block the player's field of vision. Does this look any better?

That namebox looks alot better like that. There may be small adjustments you could make if you wanted to but for the most part it looks alot better.

Besides that, as Maruno said, remove the colon and that's all I can think of for the dialogue box area

After not having worked on this project for 2 years I thought I'd show off some of the old maps from the game. They have a few mapping errors here and there that haven't been fixed yet.

The maps were made with the FR/LG tileset with the exception of the Pokécenter.

Nyfjord [Ny (new) + Fjord]
A small mountainside town situated at the southern end of the highland region Hallr.

Brave youth from Nyfjord whom wish to start on their journey will find that they have to traverse this cavern to reach the rest of Hallr.

Warpras, your game looks really good. I especially like the way you've connected Hoenn map to some new region. I also guess, that your intro is D/P/PT/HG/SS styled, isn't it? I downloaded this PSP DS to see how does it work, and its brillant, but I don't know french :/
I wish someone would translate whole kit.

The VS sprites are JarJar. I take them on The Spriters Resources Forum.

The Gym Tiles are made from Pewter City Gym.

Wow great job! It looks great espcially the billboard wiht it's bright colors might want to change the pokemon following you to where only your first one is following since it looks waaay crowded. I never tried out the MMORPG maker is the battle system in it?

The trees seem way too dark compared to the grass.
And your icons seem poorly resized.

Yeah I still need to change the pallet for the grass to match the tree's shade and the icons get rather messed up when the game runs half size(had to resize it as the screen is rather big for a thread post). But thanks for the noting of that.

There's an easy way to do that on Photoshop.

You'd just need a scripter that would be willing to do that for you.

The shadow of the pokemon has already been coded in the Starter kit.

EDIT: so at least it the blue is touching the white make it shaped lik the coast line and not just straight.

Actually, it doesn't matter if it touches? and also you have also a route blocked off by a black line which I don't think is meant to be there?

The screenshot looks alright, the flower looks out of place? It's too bright compared to the other tiles and i think the sign has a tile error and is the person's speech meant to have capitals in front of all words? Other than that it looks alright.

There is no rule saying that. It's perfectly acceptable, I like the idea if I'm understanding it correctly (having a bit of a route be land and the rest ocean). I like the world map except for the odd shaped town. I see you wanted it to be a circle but it doesn't work right.

Hmm....I think the shadow is too big. You should cut it down on size...at least the vertical size.

I made it 1.5x bigger so it look like a real shadow :D Maybe 1.5 is too big

you have to remember that caterpie is on a flat horizontal surface. if he were against a wall that shadow would be alright but not perfect. in this case, i suggest you make the vertical height of the shadow at least on third of its current size. it needs to plane with the floor beneath it.

If you need help perfecting it, get some object and place it on something flat, like say a desk. Shine a torch at it in a similar direction as the light source in the battle. It should give you an idea of what the angle should look like.

Yes but you have to remember that the light source is not comming from the ground. Your shadow would be perfectly fine if there is a light comming from below the pokemon, but instead the light is comming from above it, so the y zoom should be smaller than 1 (I made it 0.5), because that will make the shadow appear on the floor like it is supposed to when the light from the sun hits the pokemon.

So here is the first town for the MMORPG Chibitos. What do you think needs changing? Don't talk about the shadows of the houses 'cause i really don't know how to give shadows so that one is an issue i'm aware of. Another one are the lightposts. Some people say that it doesn't look bad and others say that it does look bad. What do you think? (And yes i love the 3rd Gen Tiles).

P.S: Don't mind that sprite appearing everywere. It was the only way i could take the pic of the map.

EDIT: I forgot to mention that the map isn't really done there are messing some cars to the top of the map. But i don't really have the tiles for that yet. And the beach will have more things and so will the water.

I'd say make 'the points of the flame that stick out at the top' in the middle, while making the yellow circle following it up a bit.

technically this is not a screenshot, but this is what I am going to be working on. The scripts where a little buggy when I got a hold of them, but I manage to fix most. Right now I am working on a Choose Pokemon scene (through code). Once I am done with it I am going to show it to you guys.

The Pokémon selection thing is one of them. The bars take up a large section of the screen, and there's only four of them. When the player has all the spots fill up in his or her team, then the bars would go right off of the screen. My suggestion would be to shorten the bars, and move the "Choose Pokémon." Window box to the top screen. Then it'd be perfect.

Another thing that really bothers me, is the menu. It's the same situation with the Pokémon Selection screen. The bottom two bars distorted, so you shouldn't shrink all of the other ones to be the same size. After that, then it would look perfectly fine. Also, the HGSS Pokédex seems to work perfectly, not sure if you scripted it or not, but it looks really nice.

That's about it. I hope to see more of the game. Keep it up.

Basically its an event where the player gets to choose there starter just like in the original games.

Lol Nice converting Neo Mode 7, well in the most part the pokedex does work perfectly, but in the latest version of essentials crys don't work, and also when you own a pokemon the pokeball don't show right beside them(which I am currently trying to fix. But Gratz

Nice job Help-14 :D

Here's a screenie of the completed Naming scene in End of Days.
You use the keyboard to type in the name of the hero, which supports the backspace, spacebar and any other key really.

It's basically a complete naming scene revamp, but advanced because there's the option to choose whether you want to keep the name or try again, and the fact you can enter text with the keyboard :3

First off, this is just my opinion but that's not a very eye pleasing shade of orange. I think it contrasts with the other elements of your battle box in a bad way.

The other thing I noticed is the wasted space on the enemy box. You could easily swap the name & what not with the HP bar and still be alright for room... Unless you're planning to add something else around the HP bar.

Here's a full on demonstration of the screen tint, I decided the light should come from the left so the lightest color(being yellow) would be top-right, and orange top-left. The other 2 colors were black.
For night time you're going to be using a mix of pretty much any dark color mostly blue or a nice blue-green.

Both yes. The diamonds with the Pokeballs in the background are animated and slide along. And I was running out of battery while taking the video which is why the battery is low :P

EDIT: All of the PokeCOM systems have animated backgrounds.

You really need to decide on a set of overworld tiles. At the moment it's all over the place and all of the styles clash horribly with each other. Otherwise, the systems and whatnot seem to work fine - but it's hard to see that when the overworld stuff is bugging me as much as it is.

My one problem is that you appear to be using "Fallen Leaves village" as the proper name of the town; "village" should be capitalized as well if that is the case. Otherwise the screenshot and the map look alright, nothing revolutionary there though.

My one problem is that you appear to be using "Fallen Leaves village" as the proper name of the town; "village" should be capitalized as well if that is the case. Otherwise the screenshot and the map look alright, nothing revolutionary there though.

Well I was really trying to show the save screen BW style, not the map but thanks anyways.

The BW Save screen looks pretty good, nice job, but if I were you I'd do something to fill the empty space there.
Also, next time, you should press Alt+PrintScreen so you can capture just the window, and not the entire screen.

I actually like the dark themes while battling :) although i think you shouldnt remove the boxes where text appear :s

Just a quick cap from the current test room of Saints.

The idea is that you can click-and-drag on the Pokeball on the bottom left and summon your Pokemon onto the field.

The map is awful, but it being a test room, I can't really complain. The items on the side I assume are incomplete. put proper boxes around them and put them in the corner. or somewhere. and make them consistent with the presentation of the pokeball.

The pokemon inside the ball looks really cool. I love that, and being able to drag and drop your pokemon into the feild is an awesome idea.

It feels like theres something missing from the middle.

Would be nice to see an enlarged graphic of the item in the top screen or something like taht.

I was thinking of adding the item in the middle, and the description right under it, also w/ using game variables depending on the "clothing" the player has it will display its charset.

The helement looks too flat, actually, I think making the lighter grey a bit more lighter would solve the problem, It should hopefully make it pop a bit more.

First of all, i guess you could call this my return to PokeCommunity :D
I haven't abandoned my Pokemon StarterKit, it's just on break for a month :3

A screenshot from my game, currently titled Pokemon Power Adventure, but the name may change in the future. I've changed the sprite to Barry's trainer sprite since I took these screen captures. The game will be set in Kanto, between the events of FireRed/LeafGreen and HeartGold/SoulSilver. However, there will be non-canon parts included after the Elite Four have been defeated.

Nope, PSPDS does not even run on my pc, but I got it from a HG/SS public release tileset that is in the resource section.

If you're using Essentials, then you can press F8 to take a screenshot. That screenshot will be named "capture###" and will be placed in your game's folder.
If you're not, then press Alt+Printscreen, and click "Paste" in Paint, or any program similar too that, then save it.

Thankyou! :D I really appreciate that. I'm taking a lot of time in getting the next update out; mainly because I want to include a character portrait with the text, so you can see who is speaking. I am using the VS Sprite style for the portraits, however, I am awful at drawing them so it is taking a long time lol.

Playing the demo, the overworld felt slow walking through it, whereas the platforming Route 1 level as Marill felt so great to play, comparable to the likes of Sonic and Mario.

Then I think you will be pleased with what is coming in the next update as I am removing the overworld and replacing it with a map that you simply select routes from so that the overall pace and flow of the game isn't diminished.

Heh....that is very true. But it's something I do intentionally. I just believe that the eye candy should be the functions and the systems of the game, and that the story should be discovered within the game. If I told you everything right now, where would be the real excitement of playing the game? Besides, the BC thread is locked, on purpose too, and I come here once in a while just to show off some of the systems I've done.
