[css-div="float-left;"]Pearl in a Shell: Blueberry vs. 1nvincible[/css-div]

In the past, I had always frowned upon Baton Pass Chain teams. However, I had recently decided to attempt one myself. One of the larger conundrums of a BPChain team is who is the final recipient. Some go with Octillery or Cradily due to their abilities. Others go with Blissey or Skarmory for irony. I decided to go with the only Uber Pokemon allowed in OU (allegedly): Clamperl. Yes yes. I know. Clamperl. Well some of you know of the little secret behind Clamperl. What is that secret you may ask. I'll tell you. It's Deepseatooth. With that baby attached, Clamperl's Special Attack can reach 524. That's higher than Deoxys-Attack form. However, I go with a Timid natured Clamperl, but his Special Attack still manages to reach 494. I spent about two days experimenting with various Baton Passers and found a good combination of Pokemon to pass off to Clamperl. Below is an example of a perfect Baton Pass chain. There'll be no commentary as the battle itself is entertaining enough (and it's two in the morning). Remember, this team isn't meant for anything serious. I wouldn't expect this to work in a true environment and I know the majority of it relies on luck. This is meant as a fun, goofy team that leads to a sweep by an unexpected Pokemon.

*Looks at clock* I can't believe I formatted that at two in the morning. XD

That was one of the best sweeps I've ever read. Like a time bomb setting up, exploding with sheer force from a tiny shell. Excellently executed! Just imagine the kid, just swept by a super powered shell, A ha ha ha. Blueberry and the sweeping shell~ Again well done, entertaining, a great laugh & read. (b' ')b

Hehe you can now state you've swept someone with a clamperl, dont mention the passes and you sound like a god :)
Great log, very entertaining

The player was certainly very good, letting you get up to +6 boosts everywhere and letting you pass. Phazers walk over this strat, and Clamperl can't achieve much without TR, unless you happen to be fighting Shuckles or Trapinches.

Umbreon is just asking a powerful pokemon to switch into it, mostly Steels and Guts Fighters. Your opponent was foolish enough to leave Gliscor in on Umbreon, to SR.

Definitely not a good battle, no predictions just Gliscor flailing around helplessly as you pass stuff. Really, something like Meta and Ttar could rape the whole team with those passes, but you chose to pass it to Clamperl, who requires a lot of setup just to outspeed stuff.

If said Guts fighter or Steel type came in on Umbreon, your whole setup would be ruined. Meta could have taken down more than half of your team depending on the spread, and Gliscor is 2HKOed by CB Meta with Max/Max defenses.

Summary, bad recipient, bad opponent. Clamperl is surprisingly overhyped for such a crappy pokemon, even if its SpA reaches crazy levels it isn't bulky/fast enough to carry out a sweep. TR is inevitably screwed over by Protect and other stalling moves, and not to mention Marowak, Rhyperior, Slowking pose a much bigger threat with their better defenses and ability to Swords Dance/Nasty Plot.

I'd like to see Clamperl attempt to sweep without any passes or Trick Room, please.

Thanks. I know this isn't a serious team and it fails more often than succeeds. I added a disclaimer to ensure people know this is just a fun, goofy team.

I don't think that anyone would like to read a log of someone sweeping an inexperienced/bad player. If it is a fun team, it should display some skill from the opposing side or the player. Logs like "Hey I swept a team with SDLuke after someone left a Caterpie in and let me SD up!11!!" generally do not make a good read.

To me, entertaining logs showcase the skill of both opponents. I don't find sweeps with unconventional/pure crap pokemon entertaining if no amount of skill or prediction is accurately displayed in the sweep. All the moves you made were standard, and your opponent was just flailing there after leaving Gliscor in to SR.

Yes, of course there are certainly more interesting battles out there. But lighten up a bit Aquillae... I know how you preach that the game is not meant for fun and just win in the tier discussion thread. But sweeping someone no matter the skill with a Clamperl is quite funny.

You can be rough all you want about the battle log, but remember this forum is not just for incredible thrillers, also to showcase and have some fun.

I, for one, enjoyed it. No matter how basic and uncompetitive it was, I liked reading it. Funny to me to see a pearl shred a kid to bits. *shrugs*

Wow. Just... Wow. ._.

I'll have to look into Clamperl for a bit now. XD
It's unexpected and a very nice surprise. I enjoyed this battle log. XD

I guess it is pretty fun to play, but in terms of battle rating, it was very boring and predictable. What kind of player keeps their Gliscor on Umbreon? The first thing you do is switch a phazer/BP/U-turn/Taunt poke on it. Oh well..

To me "fun" is the unpredictability I guess. I can see where Aquillae is coming from.
