Haha, though I'd be in the shape of those ol' Gameboy geezers, still I like that there are more Pokemon. I've been saying it since Red/Blue, we need more, to differentiate it, give us more options, and to help make it closer to our reality. After all, there aren't only 151 species of animals, I say the more the merrier, but make sure to keep them differentiated (I think for the most part, they have been)

Yes,
but the way nintendo is going, there are too many uber-fied pokemon.

VGCats sucks.

Also, people who think the original 151 are better just have a pair of nostalgia goggles permanently grafted to their face.

If not the best, they sure were more sexual.

(IE; Jynx and Nidoqueen + Ditto the slut).

Hmm, VGcats doesn't have enough Aeris & Leo anymore. T__T
I also preferred the older drawing style, old as approximately pre-#100 style. :0

Anyways, without more Pokemon (and regions), the series would die, but the amount of legendaries is a cause for concern. I s'pose it's just some sort of thing meant to retain the interest of the younger and more naive fans (though I was never particularly interested in legendaries) but it seems to be creating quite a debate amongst older fans.

Legends are just another collectable, but horrid for metagame.

How are they bad for the metagame? The ones in OU belong in OU, and the ones that are too powerful are moved to Ubers, which nobody really cares about.

i didn't mean "bad"
but the overpowered ones are useless for it.

New Gen FTW! Mostly because we can play the games without having to shove the GB into a lamp to see what we are doing. LOL

Well, there's always the Uber tier- I hear it's a lot of fun, actually.

I must agree. Starting with Generation III they started over doing the legendary thing. I mean seriously, RSE had Groudon, Kyogre, the Regis, Rayquaza, Jirachi, and Deoxys. Thats 8 new legendaries in a game. On top of that they started making it so that the Legendaries are semi-evil 'causing disaters and mayhem all over the place. I remember when the Legendaries were just slightly better than normal and not not these massive doomsday machines. They aren't even rare or hard to catch now! Legendaries are not legends anymore. They're just plot-line battling machines to make younger players be good with out any skill. They shouldn't have added any more legends after the GSC games.

The first gens didn't have massive doomsday machines?

And trust me, given the amount of kids getting their asses kicked on PBR WiFi, the Legends do not make them good.

Scott or whoever runs vgcats has done several other awesome pokemon comics if you haven't seen them before. Also, GEN I were the best imo. The anime was killer and so was the game.

There's two others, and he also started a different comic surrounding Pokemon Firered

Well really I have no comment about that. True, if they don't stop making more Pokemon games then the series would die. But I did miss the old series. They were like the birth of the whole series. That's how Pokemon came to be. The new ones are just like an ongoing thing, and maybe sooner or later, there will be an eighth-generation! But now, just in my opinion, they should calm down a little and make Pokemon with a different game-play, like they did with Colloseum and XD.

I'm not to keen on the new Pokemon, I would prefer to have them then not but they all look kind of weird.

Pokemon are getting more and more Cartoony and cute. With each new generation it looks like they should be hugging and not fighting.

As for the actual question, I generally prefer the old generation. However, that's not to say I don't like the new generation; not at all. There are quite a few screw-ups in the old gen, and lots of examples of great ones that have just come out. Just, on the whole, I like the old gens more. :/

It's not surprising that they are declining in quality, simply because there's less things they can do. Furthermore, there's a sense of nostalgia attached to the older gen pokemon.

Yeah, i feel proud i could've been part of the old gens!

I'm actually surprised some of you remember the old gens. Some of you are 14-16 now, meaning you were 4-6 then, and I can hardly remember what I really liked when I was 5. I was 10 when the anime first started, same age as Ash, and it really worked out for me. I was able to find several people who were into pokemon, because it was new at the time.

Yep 2nd gen for me was when I was 6 so i can remember it. Only cause exciting childhood memories stay with me. Anywho a yeah old gens better. Its the only thing that has my pitchfork ready for when nintendo says sorry no 2nd gen remake.

I'm not a fan of one generation over another. All I know is that my favorite pokemon (Garchomp) is part of the new generation, which makes it slightly more favorable in my view. Honestly, I don't mind the new stylistic changes made on the newest generation...I think it's all good.

what I hate is that they purposly make the new pokemon better than the old ones. My first pokemon game was pokemon yellow back in 1999 and I still think 151 was the best, originals deserve more respect.

I try to remain open about each new generation, but unfortunately it was a little harder to do so for the 4th generation. Although my favourite pokemon at the moment is Lucario, which of course is 4th gen, I've found that there are many in both the 3rd and 4th gens I just do not like.

The amount of Legendaries prevailant in the third generation annoyed me. And the fact that many old pokemon just don't get much love anymore is sad. It might just seem that way because theres more in existance but some pokemon (my prime example being Gachomp) I dislike greatly for killing or siphoning off the usefullness of other pokemon (eg. Flygon).
