View Full Version : Ever been emotionally attached to one of your pokemon?

Im just wondering if I am naive but has anyone ever been emotionally attached to a pokemon? Like you get upset when it faints, and you do your best to treat it right even though it has no feelings? You also can't let go of it. Even if it would benefit the team greatly to let it go, you just can't because you love it?

Well I must say I am emotionally attached to my Starmie. I mean its like a pet to me. I got it as a Staryu and it has been on my team the whole way through the game, and I just will not take it off my team.

So how about the rest of yall?

When i was little i would NEVER even think of getting rid of a Pokémon. I think the same today with my Torterra that's been with me from the very start (he's just grown to level 100!). People have offered me Pokémon (very good Pokémon, actually) for it, but i have always said NO.

I hate to admit it, but, yes I have. My Typhlosion and Extremespeed Dragonair from Crystal were my personal favs and I was sooooo upset when the internal battery died and they were gone for good... I know they were just a string of commands and pixels in the game cartridge, but, there was a sad attrachment.

I'm pretty attatched to my Jirachi in Sapphire. However not as much as I used to be since I realised I hate cheating to get Pokémon.

So I plan to get a legit Jirachi somehow on Pokémon Diamond so I can be attatched to it again :3

Up until the third generation games, I was seriously attached to my starter Pokemon. I refused to put them in the box, I had to go to the Pokemon Center or use a healing item as soon as they were injured. Yes, it wasn't the most mature part of my life, being attached to a clump of pixels.

I still do it now,
I think, if your going to play the game, you should play it realistically.

Slighty. XD; I have two amazing Pokémon that I love oh-so-much from my Ruby game. I've finally migrated them to my Diamond game. <3

The first one is my Medicham, who I named "Med'cha." He's currently at level 65, I think. I caught him at level 20-something and I raised him completely by myself, and he's been strong enough to take on the vast majority of the Elite Four. I love Fighting-type Pokémon and the fact that it's part Psychic as well just appealed to me when I was choosing a member for my in-game team.

The second one is my Flygon, named "Abarava." She's currently at either level 66 or 67 right now. I caught her as a level 20 Trapinch, and although it's taken her quite some time to level up into a Flygon, I'm glad I did. She's been totally beast in battles.

I really don't know why I'm so attached to these two. They're just clumps of pixels, but they're fun to play with. XDD;

I've never restarted my Silver Version because I was so attached to my Typhlosion. It was the first Pokemon I completely trained to level 100 without the use of a single rare candy. Unfortunately, I've seemed to have lost my Gold Version. =(

Yes. I don't know what I'd do if I just suddenly lost my Diamond version, with Kaizer (Flygon) or Raff (Vileplume) or Kero and Azure (Toxicroaks), along with a bunch of others. Maybe it's a dumb thing to do, but there'll never be another Flygon or Vileplume or Toxicroak exactly like those, right? I've spent hours raising them. I feel good when I win with them; I feel bad for them when I lose.

I'd feel bad if a drawing I worked on for hours was ripped apart. I'd also feel bad if a "pile of pixels" I worked on for hours was suddenly deleted, because raising that pile of pixels was something I did because it's what I like to do, and it's nice to have it pay off in the end, right?

I'm quite attached to Eevee and its evolutions. Through Crystal, I always had the one you get from Bill on my team. Being able to catch Eevee in the wild, on Diamond and Pearl (although in the dumbest way possible.. -.-;; ) was one of the best things I found out about. Currently, I've got a Vaporeon and a Glaceon that I really don't like boxing; though they are after-game acquisitions. Damn them for making Eevee an "After National Dex" Pokemon.. >_>;

Eevee+ evos. I love those pixels. <333 I feel horrible if I let them fall in battle. And I breed them to where I get two eggs...Eevee twins. ^.^ Beatrice and Balthasar. <3 Leafeon and Glaceon now...but...I heart them.

And my starter. I've never left them off my team. Ever.

for me it's my Lucario and Empoleon. I got Lucario as an egg and Empoleon as starter. My friend has an Action Replay and said he would trade me an Arceus for them but i told him no. They have always done well in battle and are good. The best t6ime i'vce had with them is when i beat my cousin's level 100 lucaro in a ouble battle - it was his last Pokemon - and i finiahed him. My Empoleon and Lucario are level 60-ish :)

As a competitive battler, I know that the true secret to victory is in the bond you form with your Pokemon. As such, I love all of my Pokemon. Largo, my Slowbro, can come in on a Garchomp Earthquake and Ice Beam it back to hell.. Mason, my Rhyperior has taken heavy hits and come back with twice the strength. Epilepsy, my Porygon-Z, has swept many Pokes before- Scarf Adaptability Tri Attack hurts. Angie, my Blissey, has stopped numerous sweepers in their tracks. Sims (my Infernape), Herman (my Dragonite), Light (my Dusknoir), they've all proven themselves in battle. The ones that haven't will get their chance. Plus, I've raised them all since birth.

I get really attracted to some pokemon, mainly my Lucario, but theres been many.

On my old Yellow version it was my Jolteon, Lapras, Rhydon and Alakazam
On my old version it was my Typhlosion, my Houndoom, and my Umbreon
On Ruby it was my Zangoose, which was the only pokemon out of the entire 3rd generation I managed to train to Lv. 100.

On Diamond and Pearl now I get emotionally attached to my Lucario and my Luxray. I can't just help it.

Why, of course not, I'm not that attached, what gave you that idea. XD;

I really like the Pokemon in my games, I always affectionately name them and always feel incredibly accomplished if they win a Gym Battle/the Elite Four. Of course I'd be sad if suddenly my game got wiped. Who wouldn't? Wasting Using over 40 hours training your Pokemon, only to get it deleted. XD

I absolutely love my Meganium in Crystal. The Chikorita it evolved from was the first Pokémon I ever received in a Pokémon video game, so it is very special to me. Though I don't bother much anymore with Crystal, I still play it every once in a while just to relive my memories with my Meganium, lol.

My Prized Dragonite nicknamed "Shenron" in my old Pokemon Silver game, I never had attachments to any Pokemon until I hand raised him from an egg to LV100 and had also EV trained him.

He was brilliance in the form of pixels, completely solo'd the Kanto Region with him after I left my Party in a box after the E4, keeping just him.

He was my big friendly weapon of Mass destruction that Obliterated Red hiding in his cave on a weekly basis.

Since then, I've had no other attachments to Pokemon

oh yes, very.

as you all *should* know, Torcher, my Blaziken, was my VERY first Pokemon.

when I found out I couldn't have him on my Pearl until I got the Nationaldex... you bet I was PO'd.

The second I could, I ran of to Pal Park to claim muh baby. <3

so yeah, you can say I'm very sedimental of my Blaziken <3

~~~~~
I'm also pretty sedimental of Ria, My Lucario, My other Lucario, My Manaphy (my very first 100% legit event that I got all my myself.), My Infernape (Pyro), My Charizard (Charlie) and the Pokemon I got in trades.
EDIT: Oh yes, let's not forget about my Shiny Cubone! First legal shiny I ever found! <3
I have two pokemon that I would never think of letting go of. My Milotic and Absol from Sapphire. Absol is one of my absolute faves (pun intended), and I just think it looks like pure win. As for Milotic, the elusiveness of Feebas meant that once I caught one, that very first one was my pride and joy. Checking it now, it had horrible IV's and is...Timid, but it has won 3 Master contests and single handedly helped me to complete my trainer card on Sapphire, Emerald and now Pearl.
When I was younger I became obsessed with Meowth, so whenevr I started a new game on Blue I always used to rush to Misty's gym so I could get hold of it! :D I used to nickname it Meowth with a female symbol at the end... I dunno why but I was obsessed about owning a female Meowth.
Obviously when it got to the next gen they introduced male and female pokemon, so it saved me the time :p But still, it got rid of the sentimental value. It'd be great to see if I could actually get anywhere in training a Meowth to be awesome. I reckon it would be extremley difficult though. :(
→ Hurricane
When I started to get into competitive battling, I needed a lead that could start the battle off in a favorable direction. So, I decided to get Salamence, named it Hurricane as Salamence is one of the most versatile and destructive forces of the overused metagame. Basically getting it's nickname after the massacre a Hurricane can cause to the coastline. Here I have a female Salamence, nicknamed after destructive weather. At the time DDmence and won many battles and countless sweeps. With this, over in the blog community, it became infamous as Ryan's lead: Hurricane. Pretty much everyone knew I used it and mainly lead with it. After awhile, people began to recognize what set it was, so I thought ahead and bred four more Hurricanes. (All had to be females, all nicknamed Hurricane) All of which were the standard Salamence sets; Mixmence, Specsmence, DDmence. I used them at various times and really creaed a force as no one kn ew what was coming, it was a long of fun. Over time, after using it for oh so long. I grew attached to it as both my favorite Pocket Monsters & favorite sweepers. I had a lot of fun with Hurricane, they did an excellent job for me back then. :Dhttp://archives.bulbagarden.net/w/upload/c/cb/445.png
→ Jetstream
People thought Hurricane was the only threat I used back then. Oh no, Jetstream was my X-factor in various battles, creaming people like no other. It helped me defeat some of the O community's best/most vocal battlers. People that thought Hurricane was coming to shred them apart were met with a choice banded outrage or a Sword Danced Earthquake. I grew attached to Garchomp, it looked kickass and always helped me out of the tightest spots. I had a lot of memorable moments with Jetstream, some of the greatest battles and highest of highs I've ever had. ;D
→ Greatblue
Rewind to my Sapphire days before competitive plat had tainted befriended me. I was surfing along in Hoenn's vast ocean near Mossdeep I think. I caught my first Wailmer, and trained it bonding with it and eventually evolved in Wailord, I loved it, took it everywhere gave it everything possible. (Won all beauty contests too XD) I had a blast with Greatblue, unfortunate when D/P rolled along I was scammed by the usual "hey, wanna do a trade back?" And lost Greatblue forever. =/ Stupid decision on my part and there goes a heeeeep of memories to some idiot. >>;
I had a blast with all three of these Pocket Monsters and guess I did bond with them in a way. Great times, simply great times...
I have major emotional attachments to most of the pokemon I use in my teams.
My strongest attachment was probably the one with my very first pokemon, Venusaur (well it was a Bulbasaur but was a level 100 Venusaur in the end), me loved it so much. But my brother deleted my game out of jealousy, lol, I even cried as it also had my favoritest bird pokemon in my team as well, which was Pidgeot.
I have an attachment to my Gloom on Emerald (She kicks butt and she is my favorite pokemon) and I love all my team on Pearl.
My shiny Ampharos, [insert cool nickname here]. Haven't gotten around to nicknaming him yet xD. I caught him as a Mareep level 8, and quickly trained him to level 30 to evolve.
I'm going to start EV training him for Sp. Attack and Sp. Defence, even though he isn't going to be a "scrapper". Nope, my good 'ol Ampharos is gonna be a contest winner. Not sure which category yet, oh well :/ Lots of time to decide that later.
I'm also very attached to my Teddiursa. She's just so cute... I think I'm going to evolve her into an Ursaring and use her for battling.
But yeah, those are the two Pokemon I'm attached to the most.
my special 5 Infernape, torterra, garchomp, electivire, bronzong
Infernape: one of my very succesful IV bred pokemon. ( my first actually)
Garchomp: much like infernape he is a beast in battle. also became my first succesful ev train
electivire: its strange i got this electivire awhile back and i dont remember who traded me it. whats funny is its a saikyou electivire but back when i recieved i didnt know what an event was. so i trained him and he became my very first event pokemon.
Bronzong: he is a shiny that i chained for and he ended up with levitate and relaxed nature.
torterra: the one im attached to the most. he is my starter but after 5-6 months of resetting i got him shiny.
these 5 mean the most to me in and out of battle. they shall never leave my side...
Well, quite soon after I got my national dex on Pearl actually, I got a (legit, as far as I can tell) Shiny Mew from Serebii forums in a trade. It was Lv. 100 when I got it, and has a Max cool rating, but no contest ribbons at all. I beefed it's stats a little with drugs and gave it a BP Moveset, but lately I've been thinking about giving it some contest moves and getting a Master Cool rank. He's been with me for a while is rarely out of my party, and I take solace from the fact that it actually could be a legitimate Shiny Mew.
I may get somebody to check this Mew with pAC or some other program if I get the chance.
Any Pokemon I use for the in-game story and any Pokemon I specifically and determinedly train, I grow attatched to. Meaning, I have tons of teams in my first box (titled "Bestmons") that I would never, ever, EVER trade off or get rid of. It's hard to deposit any of them to train others sometimes... :(
Also, usually I get attatched a bit to my HM slave. I know, it's a bit odd, but after having Starly Fly me around everywhere and never leave my party, it's hard not to feel a bit of a happy feeling about it/her. When I ended up having to battle with my HM slave Starly once, I completely forgot that it evolved at LV.14, which it just so happened to reach in that battle. After it evolved, I had this wierd feeling of "Wow... My HM slave evolved... Now it's like Staravia's an actual member of the party..." XP
Do Mystery Dungeon Pokemon count? I don't see how ANYONE can not get attatched to their hero and partner from Mystery Dungeon...
I don't emotionally love it.
its just a bunch of pixels fighting eachother.
Although I get upset if it faints or has something wrong.
I especially hate when my attack misses.
I could love every bit of it, but I use it to only get through the game.
I used to be up until GSC. I'm kind of not anymore, but I always keep a Meowth in my party (mainly for Pickup) and I get annoyed if it faints. If I'm leveling up a Pokemon to make it evolve or something, if it faints, I have to get out my level 70 Staraptor and Close Combat whoever killed it. Which is quite funny if I'm battling a level 20 Bidoof XD Oh yeah, I'm also kind of attached to my Staraptor. If, when I switch it in from training others, it gets hurt, they can say hi to Close Combat, too XD I like to think it's my Staraptor punching the other Pokemon. Somehow.
my salamence, disaster. he is one of the best pokemon I have ever owned. he was capable of taking down ubers in a single hit.
king, the flygon. I evolved him from that shadow vibrava in colosseum. he is also my main sweeper. I have taken on a whole team of ubers with only him and disaster. I call them team salagon.
Darkfire, the shiny rayquaza. the one pokemon that I am most proud of. He has amzing stats, and I use him even more than disaster and king.
Glitchy, the shiny porygon z. a great special sweeper. He is my secret weapon in many battles
Ok.. what I say here, stays here. Yes.. I was emotionally attached to one of my Pokemon before. It was my Swampert. I used to talk to it while I played Pokemon Ruby. It was like my imaginary friend, and I even asked my mom once if I could change my name to Swampert. I used to think that he followed me to school and helped me with my schoolwork. It was pretty weird.. but I lost him in an unfair trade. Aaron said that he would give Swampert back after he beat the Pokemon League. But I never got it back. My cousin tried to make a copy of Swampert with Pokesav, but it just wasn't the same.
My Jaydin - a male Linoone - has been the pride of my games from Sapphire to Emerald to Diamond. I still remember the day I got him as a Level 2 Zigzagoon just outside of Littleroot, and ever since for some reason I just could not leave him behind like I did all my other Pokemon prior. What I would have normally done was just stick with my starter and own everyone in the game with just that Pokemon and not even train my others, but I felt that there was something different about that particular Zigzagoon.
He has never ever fainted on me once. He's been my most reliable and dependable team member since the very first moment I captured him; hell, I've never even had to use a potion on him! It seems like I'm more capable of getting criticals with him too. For some reason I just cannot ever even consider removing him from my team. Even now that he's Level 100 and it does me no good to have him in the party; I guess I'm just hoping that since he's so badass he'll pass on some of his prowess to the weaker members of my team :P
My lucario. I Raised him from a little level 1 riolu and now he's a lvl 96 lucario. I've been with him in my pearl game since i first got it. And i got him at the perfect nature i wanted him 2 be. He's won all levels of contests and he's been in the hall of fame. I've put alot of work into my lucario and he's never failed me, not even in wi-fi. He's the only pkmn i've been attached 2 all this time. He's never fainted at all and i've never restarted my pearl game at all so he's been with me ever since i first hatched him 3 days after i first got pearl when it came out. He's my trusty partner and a good friend and i always have him on my team.
I have attached with some of them.
It was nice, although I never had the guts to put them in the box DD:"
My faves were Killer, my Delcatty (I caught it as a lvl. 2 skitty @@ hard, hard raising), Kasami, my Persian, Bellemère, my Haunter (as you can see, they have pretty normal nicknames), Pryce, my Walrein, Will, my Umbreon, Margarida, my Scizor and RollingPin, my Dragonite.
well, that's a big HECK YES, I often get emotionally attached to my Pokemon, most often towards the ones that i've used for a handful of months, and end up over lvl70. I do often find it difficult to restart for whatever reason.
I'm just glad i'm not the only one who thinks like this.
yeah im attached to my garchomp (caught at level 13 and now 58(im not that good)), empoleon(starter), and luxray(shinx was the first pokemon I caught)..... whenever each faints I try to feed em and stuff like that and also if they lose a heart rating cos ive been treating them bad, I restart the game even if I lose a buncha levels.
I always seem to get attached to my pokemon, i always have. I mean i had a caterpie back on red/blue that i refused to evolve coz i liked it so much, currently i'm attached to my Bashful Flygon who was the first trapich that i caught on my sapphire :)
King Eevee
Yes. I become emotionally attached to my pokemon in the game, I am VERY attached to my Eevee that I have had since god knows when. I am very attached to all my pokemon in and out of my elite team. But i would never trade or part with my LVL 100 Eevee. we are like Ash and Pikachu!
Yeah, I'm attached to two of my mons. My first is Umbreon. That has always been my favorite Pokemon. It has a spectacular moveset too. =) My second is Cubone. It is in Fire Red and I just can't evolve it. It beat the fifth gym all by itself, and it has never been beat before.
It might sound weird to be 'attached,' but Pokemon aren't just our fighting slaves.
In Emerald, I'll go nuts if my Milotic, Metagross and Absol fainted... And in Pearl, my Lucario, Glaceon and Bronzong. The Pokemon mentioned above are my tankers, and my best mate.
i kinda feel that if you "like" you become and actually have emotions for a piece of data you are crazy
yet at the same time i am emotionally attached to some of my pokemon and sometimes do crazy things like say to myself "thanx you did your job" or something of that manner. and i get to thinking....its just a game its not even nessarry. its like being on drugs and realizing you are addicted but not caring. so i guess im just another crazy person to add to the already full bunch
btw i think if you care things like "hax" come alot more often
i say to myself wierd how i always get "lucky" with hax and it happens so often and in such cruel ways if my opponent were to d/c i would say yea that was pretty cheap of what was going on.
to make a long story short. i think if you actully talk to your game(crazy i know) that good things happen
I absolutely love my Bibarel, which I gave the unimaginative name of Quqo. O.o
It's always in my party and have a large stock of Potions just in case it gets hurt. =p
unfortunately i got a bit too attached to my latias which i trained for months to get to level 100, then i couldn't take my eyes off it and had to see it everyday, fortuantely i still like latias but i'm not that emotionally attached anymore and now i don't have my friends randomly coming up to me and saying 'sad' over and over again
I usually get attached to my starter and my first capture, especially when playing for the first time. The Pokemon that I got most attached to were:
First ever Venusaur and Pikachu (Red Version) I miss them ;_;
Typhlosion and Noctowl (Gold Version) I miss them too >:
Sceptile and Mightyena (Emerald) I still have them :D
Venusaur and Pikachu (Fire Red) Reincarnations <3
Torterra and Staraptor (Pearl) Obviously, I still have them.
=3 Well, I have this Salamence that I hate to see faint and it does well at battling so I discovered some feelings for it, being my favorite and all that stuff also looks good. My Gardevoir is exactly like my Salamence, but I don't like to see most of my pokemon get hurt in battle. >=[
I'm like emotionally attached with y Gallade in Diamond! It's like a brother to me. As soon as i evolved it, I was never able to take it out of my party! Even on Battle Revolution! I had taht game since it came out and my Gallade hs been on it forever!
I'm horribly attached to my Luxray. My boyfriend teases me about it. =o=
Like, he needed a Pokemon with heaps of ribbons so he could get into the Ribbon Society, and I couldn't bear to trade him Luxray, even though he would have given her straight back. xD
She's been raised from an ickle level three Shinx at the absolute start of my game, and now she's only a few experience points away from 100. c:
I'm so proud of her, lul. =u=;;
If by attached you mean, love forever... no. If you mean like a friend, sort of. In my Pokémon Red I'm attached to my Charizard, Mew, Pidgeotto and my Raticate (though not as much Charizard, Mew and Pidgeotto). My Charizard is the only (Other than Mew) Pokémon I ever gave a nickname 'Char Ruler'. I also gave a nickname to Mew, I called him MYUU. And I'll never deposit my slaves... erm, I mean HM friends... yeah... that's it... not.
DUX is a Farfetch'd and knows Cut and Fly, while Goldeen knows Surf.
I got a Treecko on ruby, and I've had him for five-six years... He is the first pokemon I was ever really close to. He's a level 80 Sceptile now and on my Pearl, and I would be DEVASTATED if something happened to him, he's like my baby. I wuv him so much. :)
I'm pretty attached to my Empoleon. Worked my butt off leveling the little bugger, so it's mostly a blood, sweat, and tears reason. I'd be pretty bummed if I lost him somehow, but I don't think I'd be distraught or anything.
