Entei, Raikou, or Suicune?

Simple questions deserve a simple answer, this thread is no exception. Just post which dog you like the best, and a little explanation about them. Also, please advise that this thread is highly accepted of competative battling opinions on the dogs.


My opinion? Raikou looks awesome, but Suicune is my favorite. Always has been, especially since he's easily the best competatively between the three.

Raikou looks the coolest IMO, I do have a weakness for electric types though. Suicune is one of my favourites aswell, I love all of the legendary cats/dogs, and the legendary birds from R/B/Y aswell, what I can't accept however are the terrible regis/stupid apes in the following generations.

I'd say a tie between Raikou and Suicune for me, Suicune is probably better in a competetive battle though.

Suicine has always been my personal favourite because this legendary dog Pokemon looks gentle and has lovely ribbons along with a flowing purple mane that looks like a river. It looks awesome and athletic with a cool pristine appearance I love the way it looks. :D

Suicune, definitely. It's always been my favorite (not to mention Crystal was my first Pokemon game) and its great in battle if you make it a Restcune. Uses Calm Min to up its stats/make it a wall, then Rests when it's low on HP (I use Surf also just in case). Slap on Leftovers and yer all set. It a AMAZING wall if you can get in enough CMs before it gets KOd. A really good battling friend of mine traded me his and it rarely loses. :)

Anyways, onwards, out of all three of the Legendary Beasts (I do not refer to them as Dogs or Cats), I like Suicune more. I just think it is rather magnificant and that it looks the most majestic/cool out of the three, Entei is okay but Arcanine would be better in its place and Raikou, yeah, I dunno, Raikou. That Pokémon never really appealed to me, to be honest.

1. I like electric types!
2. If you think logically, Raikou is super effective on Suicune, and normal damage on Entei, Entei does little damage on Suicune, medium on Raikou, and Suicune does medium on Raikou and lots on Entei (However, Raikou could easily defeat Suicune with Electric attacks)

Look-wise, I personally believe it is the least cool-looking of them (can't stand purple, and its look just annoys me overall), but has the best stats, move pool, and is overall the best competitive choice.

Raikou follows close behind, due to the fact that unlike Entei, it can sweep (provided you let it live a couple turns, which is unlikely).

I chose Raikou but I think my favourite would be Suicune. So elegant powerful plus a friend to Celebi, which is one of my favourite legendaries. Suicune might look better if it had a tail though. Entei looks somewhat retarded especially it's sprite. Raikou I like because it is Electric type and is fast. Suicune is by far the best and the first one I purified on Colloseum and was a life saver against Cipher boss. Overall Suicune has had the biggest impact on me and my favourite.

raikou is fast, and has exceptional sp. attack,and above all else, it looks awesome.
the few things it lacks are the fact that it mainly learns electric type moves(sadly, nothing strong against ground) and the weird, purple thing.
suicune is just so awesome, he makes for a great defense, but what is that crystal on his head?
And poor entei is left alone.He has high attack and HP, and as a fire type, its bad.He learns mainly special moves and his low defense won't fare well against an earthquake or rock slide.

Well, it's hard for me to decide which one I like best.

They are all good in my opinion, but, I think it would've been better to make Entei ground type, so the dogs have their strengths and weaknesses.

Raikou(electric) can defeat Suicune. Suicune(water) can defeat Entei. Entei(fire) can possibly beat Raikou with a strong move, except, it won't be "super" effective, unless he new earthquake.

This is what would happen if Entei was ground type.
Raikou(electric) can defeat Suicune. Suicune(water) can defeat Entei. Entei(ground) can defeat Raikou.

It would make it more of a challenge for Raikou, it would be more interesting, and, there's not much ground type Legendaries! :P
The only ground type legendaries would be Groudon and Arceus(Arceus, if holding earth plate).

Suicune is the most useful when it comes to competitive battling. The CMCune set is great, I've utilized Suicune alot in a few of my OU teams. Entei has to be the worst in terms of competitive battling and design, so many other pokemon can do his potential "job" better than he can. Raikou is.....meh...

Because the in-game AI in Pokemon sucks. It's created with the intention of a 5-year old being able to beat it. In a competitive battle with real people, you won't last very long at all using moves like Giga Impact.

Let's assume 1 Power = 1 Damage for this.
Let's also give Entei a +30% boost in power.

Giga Impact = base 150 + .3x (45) = 195 Power.
With our assumption Giga Impact will do 195 damage.
Next turn, Entei loses a move.
So, over the course of two turns, Entei did 195 damage.

Return = base 102 + .3x (30.6) = 132.6 Power.
Return will do 132.6 damage the first turn.
And then on the second turn that Entei did NOT skip since it didn't use Giga Impact... It does another 132.6 damage.
Over the course of two turns, Entei did 132.6 + 132.6 damage = 265.2 damage.

Clearly, 265.2 is a larger number than 195.

Q.E.D. If you use Giga Impact, you lose a turn that you could have used to attack.

Try fighting a real, living, breathing, SMART opponent. They will make your team pay in blood for wasting their time by using moves like Giga Impact. And no, your little band of friends doesn't count either.

Oh yeah, and as others have said, look on Serebii or pretty much ANY OTHER FREAKING WEBSITE. THEY ALL CONFIRM ENTEI CANNOT LEARN EARTHQUAKE.

In the end its all about preference. Not all are going to like one for its competitive battle strenghts, some like myself like other things, like looks originality, types and for other reasons

I just happen to like the one thats also best competitively for reasons outside this.

And as a helpful, *friendly* word to Zorloc, Giga Impact has its uses but is too stituational to use effectively. Its more of a move that you would use if you knew Entei was going to be down in the next round before it could attack, not a move to bulldoze thru the opposition, even then its sort of unreliable in some cases. But each to thier own.

not very old there is a one month waiting period of no posting/inactivity before a thread is closed the last post (before i made my post here) was on the 7th of this month even though that is 9 days it is not nearly long enough for the thread to be closed be make sure next time before making a thread like this

Suicune. It was easy for me, because firstly, it looks the most elegant, whereas Raikou and Entei look more like old men with their beards (though I don't like that huge thing on Suicune's forehead). Secondly, It's got more solid stats than the other two, and finally, it just looks like a leader. Besides, it had a whole game dedicated to it!

It's stats and competitive ability are totally irrelevant to me. As i've often said irl, I would rather lose with my favourites than win with any others.
