Need help with gameshark codes for Fire Red

I'm using the VBA emulator and I can get the wild pokemon modifier cheat to work but none of the others work. Am I doing something wrong?

That depends on the codes. Some codes just don't work; misspellings (Jasper Fforde's mispeling vyrus!)...
