Welcome to the region of Tandor, where warm breezes sweep through quiet towns and waves lap at sandy beaches. Tandor is known, among other things, for its robust and slightly different Gym Challenge, where Pokemon trainers travel the region to collect six gym badges and compete in the Tandor Regional tournament, held once a year. This tournament, one of the longest-running in modern Pokemon history, is also renowned as being one of the most difficult. The honor of being Champion is one of the most sought-after in the Pokemon world.
And, you? You weren't interested in all that at first-- you're just a thirteen-year-old kid leading a thirteen-year-old life. After your mother Lucille died ten years ago in a meltdown at a nuclear power plant, your father (an experienced Pokemon Ranger) left you with your great-aunt and departed to travel the region. But your Aunt can't support you any longer, and so you're forced to leave home. Fortunately for you, opportunity.
Professor Bamb'o, regional expert on Pokemon elements, has been looking for a trainer assistant to travel the region and gather specimens of the varied wildlife. You, along with an eleven-year-old named Theo that you've known for most of your life, step up to the challenge. After receiving your starter Pokemon, you head towards your first gym badge in Nowtoch town, and your first steps exploring the Tandor region.
Things aren't as sunny as they first seem, though. Just when everything regarding the accident ten years ago in which you lost your mother seemed certain, new developments begin to emerge. A new power plant is contracted to be built over the site of the old one. Your father begins acting strangely, journeying to the far areas of the region and questioning whether your mother really is dead. And amidst all the turmoil, it seems that a great impending disaster is looming over Tandor...
It seems you may be in for more than you bargained for.

ORCHYNX is always seen stealing rings and other metal items. It adds them to its armor by injesting them.

METALYNX stalk their prey in packs. Their tail blades are brutally sharp, and are their main weapon.

The size of the flame on FLAGER's tail indicates if it is close to evolving. Some Flager will intentionally eat flammable items to make it bigger.

INFLAGETAHs are some of the fastest known Pokemon on earth, able to outrun even a RAPIDASH. They can reach speeds up to 130 MPH.

The length of a CHYINMUNK's stripes determines its authority in a group.

ESHOWTENs are shy and elusive, found only at night around mountains. Their incredible eyesight allows them to see clearly up to a mile away.

GROZARDS are always seen playing with DIGLETTS and BAREWLS. Their snakelike body is almost always partially underground.

The sponge-like skin of this Pokémon is found in all parts of the ocean. How this Pokemon survives in salt water is a mystery.

This pokemon is known for being really intelligent. He can't swim fast, but he also can hide in corals.

It looks amazing. but all the pokemon screenshots are mostly four legged eevee like things.

maps look brilliant, I suggest you add some dragon types etc...make it even for most type of pokemon

Your pokemon either look pretty good (ones like metalynx) or needs more improvement (ones like zubread). One of your buildings in the last town looks blurry, and I think there should be a third starter evolution because either the first starters would have higher stats or the last evos would be a lot weaker.

yeah there should definitley be a thrid evo of the starters.....if not it just wone be right and they would be weaker than other pokemon

yeah there should definitley be a thrid evo of the starters.....if not it just wone be right and they would be weaker than other pokemon
No, the stat growing rate is bigger to them, so they get more stats each level. ;p
Teddiursa: Zubread and some others are old sprites, ill fix them later (actually it was my second scratxh)

A new update to the thread!

What aweful means (awful?), if its good thanks, if its bad tell me what to change =0.
Also i have some news for you guys that dont post, the plot is going to change drastically, now its alot more interesting and original, the only thing i can tell you is that it now will involve a nuclear plant, a new type of pokemon and the balance of the enviroment.
Please i need some comments in the new fakemon, like suggestions on what to change, what you want to see in the future and etc.

i know that, but this problem is already solved, Zephyrplusle (my spriter) had done them in 80x80 so i had to resize them to 124x124. But now we already have the sprites in the correct size =p

Like the fakemons although I think the reshaded ones from zubread still need some more reshading, I don't know why but they seem kinda not good shaded :\
Found some typoos in your screens 2:
3th screen you've written "make the test", but it has to be "take the test"
Question 4 screen you need to use to instead of ot :P

Ok, ill explain what is mising, I already have all things working till the first gym (pokemons, trainers, itens, story/plot etc), the only thing is missing is the male hero front sprite and the professor OW and sprite, which are being made by my spriter. Just wait till this is done and everyone will get what they want =]. Also , since I've delayed the video update, ill reveal the first Zorin's fakemon for Uranium:

We're going to be releasing a promotional video in a little bit that shows the beginning steps of the game! I've seen it and it's really cool. In the video, on of the times the aunt spoke, she says, "i ...". It should be' "I ...". The ... is because I really did not pay enough attention to catch what was being said as much as if it was written correctly. I did not see any other errors though. It is a good video, I however do not like how you have to keep going between the houses (there, back, there, back, try to leave, stopped). Maybe you should have him venture to the next town then have the professor call him back. You should sprite up a Wii, so your character could have one.

The music was horribly out of sinc in the video. (not that that matters if its ok in the actual game)
I really love the fakemons. ^^
It's great to have a pure flying Pokemon, Nintendo never made one. I think Grozard and Trelard should be dragon / ground (maybe not Grozard)
I also agree with what a couple of people said before; that you should make a third evolution for the starters. It's tradition isn't it? If you do that, I would put the new fire starter in between Flager and Inflagetah (Hope I spelled that right) because Inflagetah looks like a third stage evo, and there is too much difference between Flager and Inflagetah.

The game looks like it is progressing quickly, but for some reason the Flager sprite looks a little blurry. Is it in .JPEG? Anyways that dosen't matter. The maps are averege, aswell. Goodluck on this.

I presume you don't plan on including the D/P move Roost then? Since then the pokemon would have no type. This is the reason there is no pure Flying type in D/P and possibly R/S/E.

Ive made a pure flying poekmon, because I don't see the point of making a normal/flying one, since normal is kind of typeless/neutral type. And about the roost thing, as ZP posted, if i ever make it, it will be just a recover move.

Its good to see you liked them and I'm also glad you liked the 2 stages starters idea. Since you will have alot of option of pokemon to catch at the start, i think there is no problem having it.

First, i need to explain some details about the game. It will have a new region ...kinda expected., and also new pokemon (around 60+ new poke Great! No claims of 493+>100 fakes...).
The Tandor So what's the derivation? region was famous for its cliffs and mountains even though being an archipelago ...then it surely has volcanoes, right? Maybe even active ones.... Between the biggest island and one medium sized island, Comma Splice used to exist a fluctuating Nuclear plant What's a 'fluctuating nuclear plant'? You mean like it has meltdowns, fixes itself, has another meltdown, fixes itself,a nd the cylce goes on?. 10 years before you start your journey, this plant was destroyed by a huge and strange green explosion Aliens?. Some of the survivors said that before the explosion the had seen a pokemon, a different one...I don't like where this is going.
Now in the present days this "nuclear" pokemon Got a name? is back and it has started to spread his "Uranium dna" ...where on the DNA molecule does the Uranium go? Or is that just a cool name and little else? around the isles. The normal pokemon were easily cured Cured of what? You haven't mentioned any ailment yet..., because the scientists created an antidote but the problem is that he has already awekened How? Did he need a Crimson Flute? and infected Aotius That name is awful. It can't possibly have any source...surely you could come up with something not so fantastic., the Yang pokemon and Mutions This one is not exempted from the Lame Name Edict? I feel bad for it...not that calling it Omegeon or Yinmega is any better., the Yin pokemon. You seriously couldn't avoid light and dark? I really think there are more possibilities out there... They are both now controlled by the mysterious one Since when did people think it was alright to have mind controlling in pkmn? It's not...or else there will be a Psychic type attack that can do that to a foe and annihilate any pkmn in any battle..
Okay, sooooo...apparently there's a lack of stasis between yin and yang. So then...
Now here you come in the story I've already been here, but thanks for recognising me.. Your mother was working in the plant in the day of the explosion and she has disappeared Of course. since that day and your father, a pokemon breeder, went on a journey to find your mother called Lucille. You live with your aunt in Moki town ...sounds non-commonplace. and today is the day you get your first pokemon. Professor Bomb'o Bombs? Bomb trees? Wait, no, I got it! He is named after Bomb Flowers...now that's brilliance., who is your father friend, calls you to his lab and give you your first pokemon, so you can help yours father quest in the future. Then your adventures start and you will face alot of challenges like participating in a championship, defeating the Teams Ying and Yang TWO evil organisations? Can't you beat the cliche? And after already mentioning this Uranium DNA, why are you forcing another opposition force? and much more Sounds like quite a hefty adventure...

Here are some answers to you ;p
The explosion is green because its based on the uranium stone which in facgt is dark green.
The pokemon has a name for sure, but i just dont want to reveal it right now.
The uranium just mix up with the other molecules modifying the original one
The normal pokemon got this "infection" reverted
Some weeks ago, I and ZP (zephyr) decided that the ??? "awekened" (thats not the correct word, idk what it its =/) after its uranium supply has finished where he was till the moment
I like the names T-T, i just created them.
They dont necesseraly means light and dark, Ying also means water (sea) and yang also means air (sky?)
Its not exactly mindcontrol, its just that those "uranium" pokemon need to infect others in order to survive (I cant express myself here =/)
For the teams, who said they are evil ;p
As you see its hard to me write big compositions/texts in english since thats not my mother language. Thats why Im always trying to improve this plot and im often asking help to Zephyr who is always helping me with it, i would like to tell you guys alot more of it, but i just cant at the moment. As soon as I improve more my writing ill be redoing this plot so it looks better.

Hey, about time we had someone that wasn't just posting colorless "i like ur game and ur fakes keep it up" posts. And you raise some interesting points; I'll do my best to answer them as well.
First off, let me say that I am in the process of rewriting the summary to be a little more updated (since we've done some work on the story since that summary was posted). So some of your comments, in particular the ones about grammar, won't pertain once I'm done. But I'll do my best to answer the rest of 'em...
-Tandor actually does have one active volcano. The rest of the mountains are, for all intents and purposes, extinct. Just so we don't get into a debate about the geological history of the region (like in the Mercury topic): the region is situated on a fault line where the plates were pushing up against each other; however, millions of years ago the plates stopped shifting, so they are simply at a standstill with only one existing passage to the core of the earth. Good enough for you?
-Not Aliens, although that would be cool. =P The power plant once provided energy for three cities, but after the meltdown it was understandably abandoned.
-What JV is trying to say is this: Uranium isotopes will continue to emit radiation until they become stable, correct? But since radiation is the source of this Pokemon's power, it doesn't want to become stable and so seeks new sources of power. When normal Pokemon get afflicted with radioactivity, they react differently than humans: it infects their elemental nature until they become as single-minded as the legend. There is a cure for the normal Pokemon, but only applicable in the early stages of infection.
-Aotios and Mutios are actually not light and dark, as JV said-- they're wind and water, passive and agressive, coexisting guardians of the isles that usually have little to do with people... but of course, this new disruption has changed that rather.
-The professor's name there is a typo. xD It's actually supposed to be Bamb'o.
-"Team Yin" and "Team Yang" are the rather more outdated part of this. xD First off, those names are obsolete (we have new ones), and second, to call them evil teams would be a misnomer-- they are neutral organizations that would ordinarily be unrelated to the problem, but unfortunately with Aotios and Mutios involved they can't be.

Wouldn't there be environmental consequences you must consider? Undoubtedly there would be environmental activists who foolishly try to stop the spreading of the U-DNA, and there would probably be modified tiles to reflect the damaged nature, right?. There is a cure for the normal Pokemon, but only applicable in the early stages of infection. Infection? These aren't viruses...wouldn't contamination be a better term? How do they cure it? Is there some kind of pk-serum that reacts with the U-DNA to remove it from the system so long as it has not spread much?

Uranium in pure form is dark green, however that doesn't mean that an explosion of a nuclear reactor would be green. In fact, nuclear explosions are generally hot enough to produce plasma- which is most often white.

But since radiation is the source of this Pokemon's power, it doesn't want to become stable and so seeks new sources of power. When normal Pokemon get afflicted with radioactivity, they react differently than humans: it infects their elemental nature until they become as single-minded as the legend. As much as I had the same initial thought, not everything can be applicable to 'real life'. How would the same voltage of electricity that can take down a -rock- not end up 'killing' anything else...especially a Water type that keeps its skin moist? The same can go for this U-DNA, I s'pose...I assumed it was something that just dispalced important proteins or something in the skin and began, then, acting as a nonfatal toxin (that surely contributes to psychosis). As far as radiation goes, last I checked, DNA is not a particle...unless it's just a cool name.
Dude, it's mind control. Get with the times.
...not to mention evacuated for a while (and the people so-and-so far away would suffer, as well). Environmental effects (what I'm more interested in) would be minimal so long as there's a serum or something to displace the U-DNA on an 'infected' pkmn...do you guys plan anything like that? Or is there some panacea like the 'Stone of Lead' or something...?

Oh, you guys just have to make things difficult for me, don't you? xD; Wish this was a bit more organized so I could answer your complaints in a nice orderly fashion... but that is not the case, so I'll try my best.
Aotios and Mutios' competition is what results in Tandor's geography--Aotios has slightly more power then Mutios (as a remnant of an old battle they fought), so the sea is in fact retreating away from the isles at a very slow rate (...hey, this is Pokemon; the legendaries have direct power over their elements). The "active" volcano is also Pokemon-powered, with its resident being a subject of a sidequest... but enough about that.
-Aliens are cool, but that's not the point of this game. =P Maybe someday I will make a game with aliens, but for now, it's actually not my choice as to how the plot goes-- you're looking for JV for that. xD ...And there's a point that you both are missing, that perhaps I didn't specify enough: they were very cautious when building the plant; it's on a tiny island that's surrounded for hundreds of miles by seawater (and I'm sure I'm contradicting myself by saying that, but whatever). Yes, it was a problem for residents of coastal cities, but here's the thing: for a nuclear meltdown (not an explosion mind you, a meltdown), it was suprisingly isolated... and yet the place still retains high levels of radiation, due to the Pokemon causing all this.
-As for the Nuclear Pokemon thing. Actually, this goes a lot deeper: Pokemon are defined by an attribute that determines type. Say it's a chromosome; whatever. If a mutation occurs in that chromosome, then that Pokemon's element is affected, and similarily its resistances and weaknesses change. That is the first thing affected when a Pokemon is exposed to radiation: its element changes. Nuclear Pokemon are, except for their creator, mindless: they more or less only follow their master because through it they can obtain more unstable elements with which they fuel the rapidly decaying element that is the source of their power and their life.
-Aotios and Mutios. When they are infected and brought under the legend's control, their power over their elements goes way out of whack. Vicious storms at sea and land batter the region and have been for the past ten or so years, only having increased in severity recently. Wild Pokemon are reacting strangely to their guardians' absence, understandably; there have been more and more attacks on people for no reason, their populations decline, that sort of thing. Only recently have these effects been connected to Aotios and Mutios, though, and even more recently the meltdown. So.
-Yin and Yang actually won't battle you unless it's training; Most of the time, they're on your side. I won't say much more on the matter; you'll just have to take my word that they aren't your standard "evil team" archetype. I really don't want to reveal our plans too much, and truth be told a lot of this is underdeveloped, and that's what we're working on.
Your constructive criticism helps, although the key word here is constructive... while I appreciate your pointing out the flaws in our logic, what would help even more is suggestions. We're always eager to hear what you-- or anyone, for that matter-- thinks we can do to improve. (short of "change the names" -- they will change when we feel the need to change them; right now, it's the plot structure that we're working on here.)

I think that zephyr explained at least most of your questions Agent Zero, I know that the radiation thing sound a bit impossible, but thats a game, if it had destroyed everything there wont be a game at all. Also, there is no point on explaining how the radioative molecules contamined the other pokemon DNA, all you need to know is that they were contamined. The explosion/meltdown is going to be green because I want it to be green, its my choice, white is just "blah". Aotiu and Mutios have nothing to do with Latias e Latios, its just a coinscidence that their names end with "S". Thanks Zephyr for helping me with the plot, which is probably my biggest problem due to my different mother language. And no, google translator is not good, my poor/medium english is still better than it.
Now for the game! You all can expect a nice update for today! We are going to show the new tiles and also change the old plot for the new one Zephyr is writing! (at least part of it if she doesnt have time to finish). Ill show at least one of the revamped maps too, ALL THE OLD MAPS WERE MODIFIED IN SOME WAY!

Hey guys, it has been some time since the last update right? But as I always do, I only post Huge updates. Some weeks ago I told you all that I was planning in doing together with ZephyrPlusle some new tiles, so the game looks more unique. Guess what? A lot of tiles are ready, and yes I will show you them now!
I also revamped all the maps in some way! They are all more realistic and also some of them received new paths to make exploration more interesting. I will show some of them.
There is still more to show in this update! The game plot was totally revised, ZephyrPlusle, the team spriter/plotter/everything wrote a new one that is more up-to-date with changes. Also there is a new sprite for Eletruxo and as Nytkoi has already commented, the new CSS layout! Well, it's getting boring to write all this, let's start!

~NEW SUMMARY
Your adventure takes place in the beautiful subtropical region of Tandor, where steep cliffs and rugged mountains jut out from the sea. Tandor is inhabited by many species of Pokémon found nowhere else, and it presided over by its own two legendary Pokémon: Aotius, guider of the wind, and Mutios, guider of the waves. They are forever locked in an indirect competition as Mutios tries to swallow the land in waves and Aotios tries to drive the sea away.
Between two of the islands of Tandor, out in the middle of the ocean, there was once a Nuclear Power plant in which your mom, Lucille, worked. Ten years ago, when you were just a baby, there was a nuclear meltdown. One of the workers who managed to escape said that in the wreckage of the plant, he had seen what looked like a Pokémon--but none that he had ever seen before--rising out of the wreckage...
Now it's your turn. In the ten years since the meltdown and your mothers' disappearance, your Father (an established Pokémon ranger) has been journeying the region in search of your mother who he is sure is still alive. You live in the care of your aunt in Moki town, and at twelve years old you are ready to take the Pokémon Trainers' exam and journey out, following in your fathers' footsteps to undertake the Tandor league challenge.
But growing danger awaits you--the Pokémon that was born in the nuclear meltdown ten years ago has been more active, and the area contaminated by radiation is spreading. Pokémon affected by radiation react in strange ways, losing all free will and becoming servants of the nuclear legend… not only that, but Aotius and Mutios have fallen under its control as well. The region's climate is in disaster. You’re not alone, though; you have your fathers' support, as well as that of two mysterious people, somehow connected to Aotius and Mutios, that see your potential early on and aid you throughout your adventure.

I am glad you all liked the new tiles, the revamped maps and also the new eletruxo =]. We are starting to get more attentio from the GD to our game yay! But anyways, does anyone has any comment to do for the new summary?

The textures in the new tilesets are amazing. Although I much prefer them over the boring 2-D styles of third gen, some of them look a bit out of place. The grass (both regular and tall), seem a bit unprofessional compared to the other tiles. The tall grass almost looks flat, but the idea and effort are definitely there. The color of the ocean, I think would actually look better in a dark blue rather than the dark blue, if only because it matches poorly with the froth of the rocks.
I must say, however, the shadowing on the new sprite is refreshing.

oh my God! I really love this game but there is one thing I do not understand all the games
where they are unloaded in order to make them.
Regarding the hack pallets and tiles that I love besides being a game I love most
lucky!
PS: I am Spanish and I feel I have a level pretty bad.

Well since there has been some time since the last post, I decided to make a small update so you can know how is going the game development. I will reveal a new pokemon and also show one in game screenshots.

If I were you, I'd be careful about mixing FR/LG sprites with R/S/E sprites. The styles are quite different, and it sticks out quite a lot. The scratchs sprites also are fairly bad - this is, however, just my opinion.
On the upside, the plot is unique and actually somewhat interesting. Keep up the good work, but don't forget to make sure the grammar and dialogue within your game is of high quality; it's one of the easiest things to forget, but it really helps make a game look more professional.

The main news here is that PEQUEDARK-VELVET (http://pequedark-velvet.deviantart.com/) allowed me to use all his design/fakemons in Pokemon Uranium, simply AMAZING =D. Also, we have a new spriter on the team, he is from TCoD and his name is PichuK!! His frist sprite was deisgned by PEQUEDARK and here it is...

wow some of those fakemon are really good just looked @ newer shaded versions how do u come up with the designs cos i just enjoy mixing up all ready made pokmon like my wobberfet mamswine+ every 3rd evo of the starters which wasnt really that good but was fun to make:)

The other one, seems to not be sprited from the right angle. The drawing looks like a real pokemon, but the actual product disappoints, in my opinion.
Also, the animation for Brailip looks like something straight from Crystal. Mixing the styles of the different generations seems to be a theme in the game, but are you sure you're not taking it too far?

1- It isnt a brain protruding from brailip, its a Brain Coral (Wiki) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brain_coral)

3- How many times I will have to say that the animation was something that Zorin did just for fun, and it isnt supposed to appear in the game. I liked it and posted it here!
4- Its nearly impossible to have a fangame that has more than one spriter to has its fakemon looking like it was done from only one person.

Funny that someone with horrid grammar gets corrected by someone who can't do much better. And sorry if I couldn't have responded to your response earlier JV, but I will now:
1- Just because I'm from Connecticut doesn't mean I don't know what Brain Coral looks like...
2-On Brailip, there's a very good bit of "flat" face effect on the front of its face. The eyes look flat against the head, and if you're going for a cartoonish look like I assume you are from the lips, I would suggest making the eyes look like they're bulging out of the head. The shadowing is all right (except for the stripe on the bottom left), but it looks like it has a beard on the bottom of its face.
For Dhoosnowl (how do you pronounce that?), the light source seems a bit too strong on the front of the face. The line on the beak likewise contrasts too much, meaning that it's basially the only thing you can see in that spot. The left ear also comes out a bit too far (just a few pixels).
And I don't need to respond to the other ones.

Hmmm... I suppose. But do you mean his left (the one that's just barely off the edge)?
I was referring mainly to the right eye, where there seems to be almost a direct transition from the off-white to the green. This ties in to the shadowing, because with a few more shades of grey at the edge of the eye it could look better. (But I don't always know what I'm talking about...)
When I mentioned a stripe at the bottom left, I was talking about that bright, one-pixel wide line right before the outline below the mouth.
What I said about the "beard" was not anything to change, merely an observation on the way the colors were separated.

I'm talking about the tiles, which are noticably "flatter" and more 2D then their FR/LG counterparts. They also use a slightly diffrent colouring scheme.

In my honest opinion, the majority of the scratch sprites just don't seem up to par. Both in design and in their actual sprite quality, they don't look for a minute like that could pass as real Pokémon. Mind you, I just have a thing against Fakemon, so don't let my words discourage you.
As for the Brailip subject, I think it'd look much better if the Brain coral extended down his body, or was a different color. At the moment it looks exactly like a brain and it doesn't look like a Pokemon at all.

About the tiles: I'm doing them in my own style: they're yellower and a bit more lush than the defaults, and you'll see that I'm going for a slightly more natural look in my next (upcoming) tileset update. This is to fit the region, which is, as has already been stated, subtropical: it's a little bit lighter and sunnier than the official regions.
As for the sprites, I don't disagree with you that some of them need work, but you all seem to be overestimating the capacity to which we can imitate official-style. Don't hate on us; we're trying our best here. D:

Concerning the tiles: I must say that your tiles zephyrplusle, are a step up from the old ones and I say that in a most sincere way. I like the look of your tiles(tall grass aside, It needs a bit of work.)So I'm anxious to see what you have for us.
Fakemon: Unique ideas. Thats all I need to say. No ones ever thought of a fish with brain coral before. It looks nice, so For that I give you a slow dramatic clap. Although I do also think that maybe the brain coral should be a little longer? But thats just my opinion. ^^

I like the new dialogue better than the old. A lot of it makes more grammatical sense, but some of what I've seen isn't very colloquial. When speaking in a normal conversation, would you say, "They can save you when otherwise you would otherwise be done for." or, "They'd save you in a bad streak."?
Also, the very last screenshot sticks out most to me. Any person, especially a child, would not use "fares" in a normal English sentence. I'm not going to give you suggestions for every dialogue, so I'll end right here. But you should try speaking to your friends and put cues you get from talking to them into your regular character dialogues.

Is this rival... interesting? Would s/he have a backstory in the style of Acantithe? Would it be difficult to fight said rival? I think the last thing a pokemon game needs is another pushover rival like in Emerald.

Well, we are coming to the end of 2008. One special thing for me on this year was for sure the creation of this project, Pokemon Uranium. A lot of things had changed since I created the game thread on Plot and Story forums on the mid of October, a lot has been improved as you all have seen.
Your support has been essential for this improvement, but probably what really helped me was my team, I would have already gave up without them ;p. I am sure that on 2009 things will get even better and more progress will be done, I'm making this update to we start the new year with good news. Also, there is a new person on the team as well! Everyone welcom Infernal Contraption, he will help with overworlds and also with fakemon descriptions, move suggestions etc!

Yes, I have some of those to show you! Our fakemon count is increasing quickly, PU spriters are working hard on them! Here are some of them:
FELENG [NORMAL]

This is a POKéMON that you do not want to mess with. Although FELENG is a very small and weak POKéMON, it can manipulate other POKéMON just by looking at them.
FELUNGE [NORMAL]

FELUNGE is well known for looking innocent, but it is an extremely intimidating POKéMON. FELUNGE has an incredibly high jump, or lunge. It able to exceed over 10 feet with a single jump. When FELUNGE senses danger, its lunge is very powerful, and deadly.
FELIGER [NORMAL]

Although FELIGER is a 4-legged POKéMON, it is known for standing on its hind legs to scare away the enemy. BAASHAUN [DARK]

The new battle system's status boxes are hard to read. I had to move up close to the screen to see everything in detail, and on a GBA screen, that can be deadly (not that this will ever be on a GBA, but you should still be thinking). Also, the "already caught" symbol is one pixel to close to the gender symbol's field (not that it should be on the ally side in the first place).
My comments should by no means suggest that I want you to throw the baby out with the bathwater, because it looks (nearly) flawless, just that the color could use being a shade or two darker.

As always, you are making construtice criticism, all I have to say is thank you. Now for the explanations:
1- I have to agree, its difficult to read, Ill probably change some colors so it gets easier.
2- Thats not an already caught symbol =[, thats a detail that I added to the player box so it looks cooler. I may edit it so it dont get too close to the gender symbol.
3- Maybe I can use darker shades, I used that because my PC screen is a bit darker due to configurations etc...
Nice update JV, but don't forget to use the revamped version of Feliger. (as shown in my sig)

The OWs are D/P rips, and the Dialga/Palkia sprites are Coronis's. The starters are some other guy's (I forgot the name); they're definitely stolen.

Oh, yes. This is a lot better than the previous (in terms of color). It has a very clean and professional look, the kind of thing you'd expect to find in a real game as opposed to an unfinished product. The only thing I have to question, and bear with me on my criticism, is the way the color of the experience bar changes like an HP bar would. The concept here is good, the colors, however, not so much.
I would suggest using only shades of blue for the bar. Honestly, the bright green seems to stick out too much, yet in a bad way.

That looks great man. I havent really seen people around here work on animations besides myself. It's great to see. In Infinite rainbow I had started the animations and now for malachite they are completely done. Great work! but I for one know how much work you still have to do.

That looks great man. I havent really seen people around here work on animations besides myself. It's great to see. In Infinite rainbow I had started the animations and now for malachite they are completely done. Great work! but I for one know how much work you still have to do.
thats true, its hell lot of work to do. I have right now 106 done but I probably will need to make +100 of them I think. The types that I have already finished making the moves are:
Fighting, Fire, Flying, Bug, Grass, Steel, Dark, Ghost, Rock and Dragon.

Ehh... I'm no spriter. I just looked at the image, and it seemed to me to be pretty complex. However, I do agree that it would take little time to program the animation into the game.

Yeah, I had to let Smore use string shot on me three times to get enough frames, but between that he used ember on the mankey and it get burned xD. Also, Ill make new status icons to fit this box ;p.
@hPOKE: Im thinking on making some new moves for my game as you suggested ;p. Actually I already have some ideas for them...

To record, simply press F6 during gameplay. To stop, press F6 again. The script automatically deletes the contents of the Animation folder every time you start recording a new animation, so it's advised that you create a gif file using the images before recording another one.
It will also make the game go really slowly while you use it; this is to give the game time to save each file before taking another screen. You can disable this by commenting the line "self.frame_rate=10"; however, this may reduce the quality of the animation.
EDIT: By the way, you should make each frame last 0.03 seconds (3 centiseconds) to get the approximate speed of RMXP, if you use this script (0.03 seconds * 40 FPS = 1.2 times slower, which is as close as you're going to get to the exact speed of RMXP).

I know I'm a bit late, but I agree with Pokemaker that the BRN thing is in the wrong place. You have a lot of space in that box, so why don't you put the icon between the name and the Lv10 thing? I think that might require extending the box some, though. Still, the animations have the correct feel to them, probably because of the fading effect you used on the attacks. It's all very D/P-ish.

Pokemon essentials show the enemy->player animation as the opposite of the player one ;p.

Coral Break is the first custom move I designed and I'm pretty satisfied how creative I were with it. Here is it description:
"-The user create water sound waves that hit the foe with full power. The foe has 15% chance of getting paralysied. (WATER)

Towns are -not- in total darkness...go open up Sunyshore at night, and there are plenty of houses with the light in the windows that illuminates the area not any extra but plenty for what we care. Here, well, first, why are there two light posts so close together? Lose one. I'm not gonna lie--it's a different idea, but...the light circles are a little bleh. Look at what they do to the player's hair. Why not just alter the tiles in the vicinity of the light posts and change the player's hair when within that area?

I understand your opinion, but till I find any better effect, I won't change that. Also, about your opinion about changing the player hair when next to a post wouldn't work because pokemon essentials doesnt support hero charset changes and it would be too much work for suck detail, I mean, creating one charset for each light angle etc.
Anyways, here is an small update, it's about the starters pokémon:
All the starters are being revamped totally, including movepool, sprite, description etc. Thats too fit the current fakemon quality, thats is far superior than it was some time ago, when the starters were added. Here are the new Orchynx and Metalynx sprites:

The sprites are of a different style than the professional game, but that doesn't mean they're bad. Some, I'm not a fan of, but your ratatta-clone is actually quite unique in a good way (unlike some of the exaggerated shapes of teh Baro).
Despite what AZ may say, I still like your lighting effect. It reminds me a lot of the time I spent once on a lonely Caribbean island, which is kind of like the environment you were aiming for. I would normally say no like him, except for this reason only: On islands out to sea, such as those far in the West Indies, the night is a really deep and penetrating black. Lights only give out a faint ward in those places, creating kind of a sphere like that.

I don't think he's modified the item descriptions; that's the way it is in FR/LG. I believe it's meant to mean good and quality. Removing the comma wouldn't make sense; you'd have to change it to 'high quality'. Basically, I think you should keep it the way it is.

Yes, I started working with remixes these last weeks and now I have plenty of them! They are all mp3s which makes the overall file size A LOT bigger. That wouldn't be an issue cause as soon as I release a demo there would have two versions, one with mids and the other with the high quality mp3s.

The sound's a bit too harsh. The high sounds are really metallic and there is almost no low. It's also pretty barren and atonal music should be used VERY sparingly. You should make this more balanced.

You could just email me the raw MIDI and I could make a few adjustments in 10-15 minutes that would automatically make it sound better. However, for my game I'm doing custom tracks that are elaborately remixed.

Zeph and I have finished thinking on the plot and all. She made it look pretty solid, and all I have to say is that it's possible to make a great game out of it (Thats what I'm trying ^^). She wrote a new summary for this thread, for those interested, here it is:
Welcome to the region of Tandor, where warm breezes sweep through quiet towns and waves lap at sandy beaches. Tandor is known, among other things, for its robust and slightly different Gym Challenge, where Pokemon trainers travel the region to collect six gym badges and compete in the Tandor Regional tournament, held once a year. This tournament, one of the longest-running in modern Pokemon history, is also renowned as being one of the most difficult. The honor of being Champion is one of the most sought-after in the Pokemon world.
And, you? You weren't interested in all that at first-- you're just a thirteen-year-old kid leading a thirteen-year-old life. After your mother Lucille died ten years ago in a meltdown at a nuclear power plant, your father (an experienced Pokemon Ranger) left you with your great-aunt and departed to travel the region. But your Aunt can't support you any longer, and so you're forced to leave home. Fortunately for you, opportunity.
Professor Bamb'o, regional expert on Pokemon elements, has been looking for a trainer assistant to travel the region and gather specimens of the varied wildlife. Yes, exactly what you heard ^^. A few days ago finished what is Uranium's most different system till the moment. It's working smoothly and has no bugs as far as I know, It was entirely done by me with no help at all. It's similar to a ring menu but on a Uraniuesque way (My graphic style etc..). I named it Octodiamond menu ^^.

Well, I've seen the features in the update before, so I think you know that I like them, however... I do have to comment on your new teaser screen.
The style of that new sprite doesn't seem to go well with your new style. I think the difference is mainly in the perspective, or the pose. For that new sprite, you have a very conventional pose from a head-on perspective, but many of the new sprites you've shown seem to use poses and perspectives much more like Platinum.
Also, the battle background is a bit off in my opinion. It looks not so much like Pokemon as Final Fantasy, or gritty Fire Emblem.

As some of you know, on Sunday it was my birthday. I couldn't make anything special for you because I didn't had much time but today I managed to make a gameplay video of the Passage cave which is the connection between Kevlar Town and Nowtoch City (1st gym city).

Also, the battle background is a bit off in my opinion. It looks not so much like Pokemon as Final Fantasy, or gritty Fire Emblem.
Pahar's sprite is actually in the same style of the rest in terms of coloring and shading; "Platinum-style" isn't exactly what I would call a different style from D/P; some D/P sprites were posed dynamically too (Vulpix comes to mind). I simply chose a static pose in this case in order to show off the design details, which may not have come out as well had it been, say, flying. Its evolutions should satisfy your craving for the extreme. ;D
The backgrounds are from Keitai Denjuu Telefang 2, and I rather prefer them to the bland traditional Pokemon backgrounds. Do you think it would look better if it was blurred slightly?

2- It may seem short, but I was really lucky to pass through it that fast, and if you start with any other starter than Flager, believe, it's hard..
3- Oh c'mon only the manliest man are able to tame a Barewl ;p. (Really that never came to my mind, that even sounded as an irony..)

The game looks exciting and cool, the only part I don't like is that he picks your pokemon based on the quiz. I don't know if he lets you choose but other than that, AWSOME!!!

Thx for the support dudes, I've updated the first post putting there all the information given on the last update. I also took out the game pokedex from the first post. I'll leave the next fakemon as a surprise for you so the game gets more exciting and enjoyable ;p. Also a closed beta is already being tested by the team and also a few people. Thats all for today.

I guess I forgot to show the trainer card =x, so here is a small update about it:

As you can see, it's quite different from the regular trainer cards with 8 badge slots. That's why we won't have 8 badges but 6 badges plus 6 "stickers"! The stickers will be gained lately on the game and they are earned on a quite different way. That's still a secret!
Expect some micro updates these days ;p.

We're still in the betatesting phase, so there is no downloadable game yet. You're going to have to be content with screenshots and videos for now. (Believe me, it'll be worth the wait! ;D)

Professor Bamb'o:
Yesterday I just realised that I didn't present you Tandor professor, professor Bamb'o. I've only showed him on a old video the most of you didn't see.

Bamb'o is an expert on Pokémon elements, as it's noticable, he doesn't like to walk around using scientist clothes like most of his mates do. He is the hero's father best friend and thats why he choose you to be his trainer assistant. Another boy also step up the challenge, Theo a eleven year old boy who is your friend since the hero was really young.

As you could read on the Bamb'o note, you take the test to be a Pokémon trainer together with a Theo a eleven year old boy. Now you're probably guessing, why someone two years younger than the recommended age to start as a trainer is already getting his first pokémon..
Theo is always trying to beat the hero on any possible challenge, because of that he insisted Bamb'o to allow him to take the test and also asked to his father help him with his journey. Even being so young, Theo will prove to be a smart trainer, who know to balance his team correctly. He will be really important for the on-going plot..

Wow, this has been a week filled with big updates! I adore the entire concept of Dunsparce's evolution; I have always had a soft spot for that guy! I mean, honestly, he is rare to find, forgotten easily, fairly weak, normal typed, and without an evo. I have seen a lot of evolutions for him, but none have looked that good. I also love the new tilesets! When I'm ready to make my own game, I plan on making all my tiles custom, and its a great inspiration to see other people having success with the endeavor.

hey guys, something terrible happened.. My pc got infected by a virus that I have never seen before, it's a new one, people started commenting about it this month. I probably downloaded an infected .exe, after 2 minutes I downloaded it there were 2238 .exe infected by it. I had to make a deep format on the computer. I have a Uranium backup on my pen drive, but don't if it was infected... Also have a backup uploaded on the internet, but that one is one month old.. Plz, wish me good luck..
EDIT: The virus name is w32:vitro, no anti virus can fix files infected by it, so BEWARE, that thing destroy your pc in minutes.

hello. sadly ( for me ) i dont see anything in the sprites that are problems. so i can not really do a review about problems. XD. if someone were to say these were official pokemon i would not know the difference. lucky agent z. there are often more problems in storylines. keep up the good work!

in your type charts your missing Ghost type
Also the Grass/steel starter: just cos its Steel Doesnt mean it has to be a dull gray... its looks very boring and needs some colour
also the fire starter and its evo look to diffent, i mean you got a bear dog hybrid which turns in to a cat horse?? wtf??i think you should make the starter more feline :)
also whats the water type ment to me based on its kinda like a blob with horse legs...
sorry if im a bit harsh.... my main point, its the grass starter looks really bad, and only cos of colours, also made add some sort of Grass theme to it, like some leaves, bulbs or a flower, i mean the starter could have a flower then it evo's and it besomes some dead petals and its evo has no flower..:)

It's ok man, I appreciate in depht criticize like this, but I wanted an agressive look to the grass starter (for it's evolution) so I think flowers would just ruin it... I like the way the starters are and they are final ;p.

Since I sprited 'em, I'll answer this as well. (and I really do appreciate ths criticism; it's much more interesting than all the bland "ur game rox :) :)" or "when is dis hack gon be released??!?" comments)
For the grass starter line, we're trying to break free from the stereotype that grass-type=visible flowers, fire-type=fire on its body, etc. (Don't say anything about Flager.) You're probably right in that it doesn't scream "grass" to look at it, but... look, it's cute, it's green, it learns grass-type moves (especially Leaf Blade). We're not changing it. Also, wildcat + armor = cool.
The fire starters are big cats, they go cub -> cheetah. Not all Pokemon keep the same colors upon evolving, either; the change is especially drastic for these guys because there's only two stages for the starters.
The water starters are highly stylized hippocampi (horse-mermaid-things) with a bit of Lanturn mixed in. :3 They don't really resemble anything, but... that's okay, right? They look cool. At least I think so.
We're not changing 'em, but it's good to hear what you think.

I was quite amused by the Ember move sound. It seemed to blow up at the end. Also, I laughed at the way someone was riding a sea pokemon on the pavement. But I do like this game. It looks good and the graphics are done well. I liked the startup scene.

... The showcase is getting really boring ¬¬, where are all the people we had here on the end of last year o_o? Anyways, since noone suggested something for the update, I'm making a micro one...
Well since I lost all my pc data (except Pokémon Uranium xD), I also lost the editable version of the region map, the one with layers etc.. Well I decided to take some time and make a new one! It's based on the old one but still, it's looking 1.000 times better! I'm really satisfied with it:

The map looks great. The only thing that really bothers me about it is that it doesn't really flow that well. Every route just leads to a dead end (or a route that leads to a dead end). I'm fairly sure you wouldn't want to do this, but just adding some small routes between some towns and cities to connect them would make navigating the map without Fly much better (and thus make gameplay flow better, too). Anyway, nice job on the map.

The map looks great. The only thing that really bothers me about it is that it doesn't really flow that well. Every route just leads to a dead end (or a route that leads to a dead end). I'm fairly sure you wouldn't want to do this, but just adding some small routes between some towns and cities to connect them would make navigating the map without Fly much better (and thus make gameplay flow better, too). Anyway, nice job on the map.

I don't mind it. :3 I rather like what you've done with the north-central part of the region-- which, iirc, hasn't been mapped yet. We could make players have to travel the long way to get to the northern city, where they'd get an HM and then would be able to travel the more direct way back.
Some parts of the region I rather like better when left in isolation, though-- in particular, Nowtoch (the red city to the west) has a gimmick of being in extreme isolation; the only way to get to it on foot being to travel through a cave. (NPCs remark on this frequently.) And that's not to say that Fly will be the only method of regional transport...
Also, the yellow places are volcanoes and rather supposed to be left in isolation, with only one path to get there.
