Can you help me? Can FR/LG trade to Emerald?

I've never tried but I want to trade over some of my Pokemon from FR to Emerald. I've already completed my R/S machine and everything in FR, I was just wondering if Emerald will accept it? What will I have to do?

This is a new save Emerald. I just started it.

Cuz I want to use a Butterfree and I need an Abra.

New question:

What will happen if I trade a FR Pokemon (I.E. Caterpie)
to Sapphire, and then try to trade it from Sapphire to Emerald?

You can only trade like that after you get the National Dex on Emearld, and only after you pass the whole Crystal Orb thing, which you've already done.

Cuz I trade a lot from FR and Sapphire.
Wouldn't that break the boundary or will it just say "This Pokemon cannot be transferred"?

Well, you have to obtain the National Dex in Sapphire for that to work also, but after you do, you will be open to that akward trade sequence. :D

You can't even obtain the National Dex on Sapphire without trading. Once you trade a FR/LG Pokemon, lets say, Caterpie, to Sapphire, Sapphire's PokeDex will automatically convert to National mode. It's only going to list the Pokemon from the one with the lowest number you've seen to the one with the highest number you've seen (PokeDex No., I mean.)

Ohh, well go by what Kayashi says, I don't have Sapphire, or Ruby, just Emerald, so yeah.

Well, I traded FR/LG Pokemon to my Sapphire and tried to trade it over, but it says it can't be traded so the trade cancels.

However I found a way around this in a FAQ:

Question: WHAT DOES POKEMON COLOSSEUM HAVE TO DO WITH ANYTHING?

Answer: Colosseum has no trading restrictions. Once a Colosseum file has
cleared Story Mode, that file can trade with Emerald. Under normal
circumstances, Emerald could only trade with Ruby, Sapphire, and
Emerald until the Emerald player entered the Hall of Fame and
received the National Pokedex. Let's say you have a Furret in
LeafGreen you want to raise in Emerald. You have no Badges in
Emerald, so you can't trade directly between Emerald and LeafGreen.
But wait! If you trade Furret into Colosseum from LeafGreen, you will
be able to put it into Emerald, as long as it comes directly from
Colosseum!

No it won't. Because Emerald's part of the Advanced Generation series along with R/S.

And if you finish Sapphire there shouldn't be problems.

Actually it does work. I have done it. I was going to post how to do it, but DDD found out on his own before I could. RS also doesn't have a trade restriction. You can trade in Pokemon the moment you are able to trade.
