YOOM-TAH
November 18th, 2008, 02:24 AM
Alright this is the second team I've built. My first team enjoyed mild success, but had some obvious holes, most noticeably of which was the lack of a phazer or someone with a priority move. As such, I could not stop Ninjask. So what did I do? I decided to use him myself!
I was tempted to put Marowak in here, as I've always wanted to use him, but I think I'll save him for another day. Commence with the team!

Ninjask (M) @ Liechi Berry
Ability: Speed Boost
EVs: 176 HP/252 Atk/80 Spd
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Baton Pass
- Substitute
- Swords Dance
- X-Scissor
I want Ninjask at lead because of stealth rock not being out yet. I used Liechi Berry for added attack to pass, considering I don't get phazed/priorityKO'd by then (which obviously is important no matter what item I'm using). X-Scissor is for anyone who comes in and tries to set up on me who is weak to bug, or if I just need to actually hit someone.

Gallade (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Steadfast
EVs: 64 HP/252 Atk/192 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Close Combat
- Ice Punch
- Night Slash
- Swords Dance
Gallade is the main man I want to pass to, though I have plenty others to choose from. I considered dropping SD for Psycho Cut, but thought otherwise for the large amount of cases I'll have where I'll not be switching him an SD or atk boost from Ninjask. I had Gallade on my first team and managed quite a few sweeps with him. STAB Close Combat after a SD tears things apart. It'll OHKO almost anything it hits for at least neutral. Ice Punch covers dragons as well as those pesky flying types who like to rain on Gallades sweep parade. Night Slash takes out Ghosts and Psychics.

Kingdra (M) @ Scope Lens
Ability: Sniper
EVs: 4 HP/252 Spd/252 SAtk
Modest nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Focus Energy
- Surf
- Ice Beam
- Hidden Power [Electric]
Kingdra is another sweeper I had last time around, but this one's a lot different. Considering I'm looking to hopefully pass some speed to Kingdra, I looked at Sniper sets as opposed to Swift Swim sets. Kingdra has plenty to switch into and cause a switch, allowing a Focus Energy, and Surf, Ice Beam, and HP Electric have good coverage. Sniper + Scope Lens leads to some massive damage.

Azumarill (M) @ Choice Band
Ability: Huge Power
EVs: 212 HP/252 Atk/44 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Aqua Jet
- Double-edge
- Ice Punch
- Waterfall
I don't think anyone can resist trying Azumarill. The thought of passing a couple speed boosts to Azumarill makes me water at the mouth. Aqua Jet already does a great job of hitting things with priority with that 654 attack. Ice Punch hits grass types that want to wall. Waterfall is his best Physical STAB so it's a must. Double-edge just hits things really hard, and is only resisted by 3 types.

Dusknoir (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 HP/252 Def/4 SDef
Impish nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Will-o-wisp
- Thunderpunch
- Fire Punch
- Pain Split
Dusknoir is my defensive specialist. His defenses allow him to take a lot of hits. Pain Split is not great but works decently for recovery. Will-o-wisp cripples physical sweepers. Thunderpunch and Fire Punch offer good type coverage using Dusknoir's actually decent attack stat.
http://www.arkeis.com/images/pokemonfactory/magnezone.png
Magnezone @ Choice Specs
Ability: Magnet Pull
EVs: 172 Atk/84 Spd/252 SAtk
Lonely nature (+Atk, -Def)
- Flash Cannon
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Explosion
- Thunderbolt
This is the same Magnezone I ran on my last team, only I went Specs over Scarf due to Ninjask. The added Sp. Atk should allow him to handle high Sp. Def pokes like Milotic and Dusknoir, and Explosion + the Atk EVs help as a last resort on Blissey (if Gallade is gone). STAB'd Flash Cannon should handle TTar. HP Ice is standard, but HP Fire, as I have tested, makes a for a flawless Scizor counter, thanks to Magnet Pull. (And we know how common Scizor is now that he has Bullet Punch).
This team relies a good deal on Ninjask passing, but it should be able to find decent success even if Ninjask fails to pass. I have no SR set up here, but I didn't use it THAT often on my last team, which did decently well.
