IO wouldn't try and catch him hes a virus and once you catch him he ruins your game or worse...Atleasts thats what i've heard! ;)

i never knew there was missingno in GSC in the first place. but i wouldnt recomment you catch him because it might wreck your game permanently

i kno i caught all the glitch virus pokemon in my blue and so far things r ok lol but i kno it does do stuff to the pkmn center computer like theres this one called "a" it evolves into poliwag and its a water type but it makes a glitched message come up all u gotta do is keep pressing a but thats only when u use him...i love collecting them to see wat they evolve into and stuff they even make the pokedex # go up like if u catch m or missingno, a, and one of the ones with a letter and a number(trainers) u can have like 154 or sumthin...i should make a website on all this stuff cuz noone knows too about it...

Well, have you noticed that Missingno evolves into Kangashkhan, but if you trade it to GSC it becomes a Slowpoke? On RBY it messes up the graphics of the pokemon in my party while I'm battling, but some people say it doesn't.
Can you catch "a" without codes?

Catching ????? in your game or even engaging in battle in it will result in the game locking up, forcing you to reset the unit. You don't refer to any glitch Pokémon in GSC as Missingno., as all they really are are just glitches.

huh?!, on gold on silver?, no, in red and blue, i was cheeky, i caught him! XP, i caught him and i was shocked!, no wait, that was 'M', you know if you give 'M' a rare candy ya get a level 1 kengaskhan?, i use to have a missingno, i dunt know why it didnnt crash my game, later my game went bad, so i released missingno, 2 day later, my game went back to normal but THAT, was a dont try this at home thing XD

Meh, even attempting to trade Missingno. or any variant of it to GSC and it will decline. GSC will say that the Pokémon isn't right and RBY will report that the trade is refused.

In Stadium 2 however, it is transferred as a harmless Ditto.

Anyways, Missingno, ?(G/S), and ?(R/S) are supposed to be test pok'emon(To test the battle engine) in the alpha version of the game(Or the earliest prototype). The programmers were careless, so they just didn't remove them(They did hide them well in the later versions of Pokemon though, but as you can see, they can be recovered by using Action Replay or any other cheating device). It's not a "virus" or whatever the heck you call it. This pretty much explains it. Feel free to correct me if you have a proof that I am wrong.

on my gold version once i saw missingno.... in the middle of goldenrod city! but instead of looking like the r/b/y missingno, it looked purple, like an extreme close-up of missingno(took up all pokemon pic area) and had little numbers on what looked like tiny signs it...

I got Missingno. in all 3 versions. I couldn't trade it from RBY to GSC, so I caught one on Yellow, Gold, and Crystal. But then I encountered M in RuSa, using codes. It was the bad one, but I didn't know; all I knew was it was a Missingno. So I caught it, and my game stuffed up. Then I used a different code, and caught the safe one. I chucked it in the PC until I found a use for it. I then found out I needed a HM slave, so I went to get it out. It was gone. O_o; The mysteries of Missingno. never end...
