Today i got my Japanese import of Dissidia: Final Fantasy, and first of all i can say it is awesome, such an enjoyable game and well worth the wait, I'm having problems with understanding the storyline, but I understand enougth to get by with.

If anyone has any questions about the game I'll be happy to try and answer them.

Cool, so the playable characters are basically all of the main characters.

Oh that game. I love it.

Played it just yesterday and I have to say...it's an interesting game play. My most favorable character is Zidane. He's fast, has two swords, and I find him adorable!! LoL

But since I only downloaded the Japanese version, I have to remember which is which. I only know accesories and equipment for the characters. And in addition I only know which one is story line and vs mode. LoL Well those are the main things I should know since I go all out against the NPCs.

This, BBS, and Crisis Core are the ONLY reasons I'm getting a PSP! This game looks terriffic.

Crisis Core....
EXCELLANT GAME TO PLAY but the roulette module in the corner is very confusing to me. I love the Aeons beings and the Chocobo that pop up.

But sadly I had borrowed the game so I recommend to get the game. Very fun. And "kiddy" challenging. LoL

I've heard of Dissidia: Final Fantasy, and I've heard it's a really good game, and I'm actually waiting for it to make it's release out in the US! (Aug. 25th to be exact =D) When I get the game, I'm probably going to beat the game with the characters in order. I can't wait to play as characters like Cloud, Kefka, Exdeath....and my favorite villain, Sephiroth =) I wonder what Kefka's voice will sound like xDD

I loved the game. It was amazing. Better than I expected. As for Crisis Core FF7 I loved it as well lol

Been playing this game ever since I borrowed it three weeks ago.

It's only fun if you have one or more people who own the game and can fight you.
The process of leveling up is a pain, unless you exploit the "favorite day" system or get a 100% save data from someone.

Other then that, the biggest appeal is:
1. Old FF characters now have a voice (debatable if it's a good thing or not)
2. Seeing FF characters meet outside their series (Tidus VS The Emperor was hilarious!)

Always been Onion Knight in the Japanese release.
Never played any FF except 10 in English, so I dunno.

The Nintendo DS remake of Final Fantasy III featured many differences. For instance, in the DS remake, you start with only Luneth, and you get three, different, main characters that all start in the Job Class "Freelancer". In the Famicom (NES) original, you start as three orphans who all start with the Job Class "Onion Knight". There were no actual designs for the orphans in the Famicom versions. Each character in the DS version was also given a personality.

Minor Spoiler - Onion Knight Alternate Costume
However, Luneth makes an appearance in Dissidia Final Fantasy as an alternate costume.

Here are pics of all the characters' alternate costumes, as well as my noting of any references in the said costumes.

Currently working through Shade Impulse Chapter 2. I would've gotten there sooner (having pre-ordered the game and all), but there were so many difficulty stars on Shade Impulse 1 that I got intimidated and immediately went to grinding levels via Quick Battle.

I finally get there with a Lv 60 Zidane and Lv 40 Firion, and it turns out those 7+ stars were for Lv 10-30 CPUs. Ironically, those Rare Battle Pieces are so ridiculously overpowered... it's... ridiculous.

So who else here plays? Who do you use? Have you fought anyone online yet?

Hell yeah, finally someone who plays Dissidia in PC!!! I use Cloud, and completed the whole Shade Impulse with him alone (he's at level 100 btw). I'm training Squall now, his combos in the higher levels are freaking sweet. I hate Sephiroth though, he just spams the same freaking sword skill over and over.

Dissidia has the ability to save battle replays then export them as high-quality .avi files. Which, I can then take from my PSP, put them onto my computer and upload them to youtube.

Was playing the Japanese version awhile back. Playing the English version now. The story is so gay though. Camera angle is pretty whack too. Also, I hate they gave Cloud his gay emo personality he had in Advent Children. Other then those, and the grinding, it's a great game for a PSP. Though if it was on the PS2 or 3, it would be mediocre at best.

It looks good, and yesterday I even contemplated going out and buying a psp/memory stick + Dissidia because I was bored, but I felt like it may not have been worth it. D:

I just don't want to buy yet another fighting-type game that I'm going to be bored with within 5 days...

Well, I think an important part of enjoying this game is knowing where the background: where the characters come from. A large portion of the fun of the game is nostalgia and hidden references; I myself have gone through II, IV, VI, some of VII, and IX. When you have a general understanding of who everyone is, the story and jokes fit together much better (Tidus: What's a SeeD? Are you a tree, Squall?).

As far as the combat goes, it's like a cross between "Monster Rancher 2" and "Super Smash Bros. Brawl", with a touch of "God of War" (cinematic button-pressing).

After a solid week of playing, I will tell you this: this game takes a long time to complete: there are hundreds of Accomplishments, [at least] 20 Stories, and nearly 1000 items. The only problem is that some aspects (particularly Trade Items/ridiculously low Battlegen rates) require heavy grinding to work through. To counter this, Dissidia has an internal calendar and gives you a random daily bonus, such as increased XP or Gil.

Regarding your choice, the PSP itself is a pretty nice system, so I think it's a win-win. If you're going to use it as a wireless browser/data storage/music player device (like I do), then Dissidia is just a nice bonus. To buy the system SOLELY for the game is unwise... but I'm cheap, so I would think that.

On a thread-relevant note, I not only got Zidane up to Lv 100 today, but also beat Shade Impulse 4.

Will upload a video in 30 minutes.

Wow, thank you for taking the time for telling me all of this.
I'm really considering getting a PSP and dissidia now. I thought this was just going to be something like Soul Caliber; flashy characters put in a fighting game that you'll be over with in a week. Not saying Soul Caliber is horrible though, just not entertaining in the long run.

I never knew there was all of this to dissidia, however.

I was also thinking of getting a PSP for Star Ocean 1&2, Crisis Core, and the remastered Persona game that's coming out soon too.
Now I think I'll definitely be getting it.

Thanks again!

I remember in the Japanese version you set Exdeath or whatever on the hardest setting, level 100, etc. And just kinda stay in the air and fight. You'll get to 100 in no time since he had retarded AI. They fixed in the English version, but you can still do it, it's just a bit harder.

Dude, i suggest you not do that. Even though your character is at level 100, his abilities don't improve at the same pace, and you would have to grind continuously. I suggest you train the character and abilities at the same pace.

I use Cloud as my punching bag. His attacks are so slow that they're easy to dodge and punish with someone like Zidane or Tidus (note that I have Sneak Attack equipped in the video). Remember that there is an AP Chance (Deal over/under X amount of damage, HP attack first, etc.) for every battle, so you can also master abilities relatively quickly.

I'm not sure about Spirit Stones specifically, but to get most of the weapon Trade Items you'll need some sort of Elixir from the Duel Colosseum.

Once you've gotten the proper Elixir for the Spirit Stone, it should appear in the Shop. Therefore it'd be best to just get one of each Elixir (excluding Megalixir, the Lv 120 CPUs aren't worth it).

You get Dusty Elixir from the first (easiest) course, Elixirs from the second, Hi-Elixirs from the third, and Megalixir from the last. The last two Duel Colosseum modes have to be bought in the PP Catalog (it's Lunar Whale and something else).

Update: I tried using Squall. I didn't like him too much, so I continued training with Firion.

I gave him a modified EX collector build: Gravitorb (EX Range + 3m), Center of the World (EX Range + 2m, EX Force/Core Absorption + 15%), and Tenacious Attacker (Absorb EX Force when attacking; will replace with "Close To You" when I get another Dragonfly Orb).

Combine all of the above with the "Force Begets Courage" accessory (or the Force of the Resolute armor set [Nail Bat/Spirit Band/Skull Wristlet/Bomber Jacket]), which turns EX into BRV and you have a demolition machine on your hands. Straightarrow breaks through all magic and has infinite range, and all of his ground BRV attacks chain into some form of Double Trouble. Weaponmaster can go through walls.

Remember to stick an Empty EX Gauge accessory on there for an easy 1.5x modifier.

EDIT: I see that VKK necromanced the old Dissidia thread when this one was still on Page 1. Can someone merge the threads?
