Anyone here own parakeets (or budgies for you non-Americans)? If so, I was wondering what the chances are that someone could tame a male 'keet, under 4 months old, from a pet store?
My mom said its nearly impossible to tame a 'keet that hasn't been handled since it was very young.
I wanted to wait for a local breeder, but we haven't heard of any for a long, long time. Just people wanting to get rid of their's for one reason or another, usually because they aren't friendly. The only localish breeder is 45 minutes away, and dad said no bird is worth the gas money to get there and back.
I'm fighting with myself..I don't know if I wanna get this gorgeous, healthy-seeming little guy, or wait and try to find a breeder...x.x

Erm... yes well if you were to get a bird, you should get a busard like me but anywho no you should really wait and get a tame bird and dont worry it will come...eventually

We've actually emailed some folks about baby ringneck doves. That's what we originally wanted in the first place...so, fingers crossed.

I almost got one a few years back, but I waited too long to ask (I was nervous because my mom doesn't like many birds) and he was gone before I got the chance. :/

Nope, but as have said before I own a falcon. Budgerigars are good(their color and size), but they sure can make a racket!
