When I played Pokemon Red in November of 1998 (it was technically my brother's game, but he let me play it 'till I got Blue the following month for Christmas). I was 11 at the time just for comparison of age...

I started to love it since I saw the first episode when it was aired on TV, I was about 10 or 9 at the time. I started recording every Kanto episode since the 2nd episode and so on. Oddly enough, I still remember that I got my copy of Pokemon Red at the same day the episode "Ash catches a Pokemon" was aired in =P

Well, I have a (fairly) long story about how I became addicted to Pokemon:
I first heard about it when this guy came into my 5th grade class (I was 11) and did a discussion about violence. He asked, "How many of you watch Pokemon?" and I did not know what Pokemon was. Later, a boy brought in a Pikachu plushie for show-and-tell, and some other kids talked about Pikachu too. Later, in the lunch line, I saw Pokemon cards for the first time. (The first card I saw was Ponyta.) And, in some daycare center later on, I saw my first Pokemon episode: "The Ninja-Poke Showdown". I didn't have a clue what the Pokemon were, though. But, in the summer after fifth grade, I saw Pokemon episodes on TV, the first being "Ash Captures a Pokemon". I watched it everyday and discovered more Pokemon, and I immediately became a fan! (It wasn't until a year later that I finally got Pokemon Yellow, my first Pokemon game, though...)
I could go into more detail, but that would take too long...

aww..:( I know the feeling! I've been watching the show since 1997, and now there isn't ONE person around me that still likes it! :'(
anyway, I got ito it when I was..7? yeah. that'd be it! THen when I moved to u.s. when I was 11 I began collecting the cards and fell in love with the thing! ^_^ And in 1999 was when I really began getting into it though just and only because of my dead mew! ~hugs mew card binder~
I was... in 3rd grade I believe.

The feeling is paiful isn't it? I had to depart with my slowking card in sixth grade! :pirate: if only I could have gotten my hand on the grubby little weirdos....grrrrr.....

No way! ^_^ :D I thought I was the only one who still kept those things! The fist one I got was the Promotional reverse-holo entei from the movie. That was when I first moved to u.s.! ^_^

I think people who hate Pokemon are just ignorant. For most of the kids in your class have liked Pokemon one time or another.
Anyway, I first got ****ed to Pokemon back when I was 8 years old, in the third grade. I was sitting in the living room, when Pokemon the anime came on. It was "The Island of Giant Pokemon" episode. It was the very first Pokemon theme I had ever seen and experienced in my whole life. Shorty after, I began to collect the cards, and so did everyone else in my school. Then, for my 9th birthday, me and my friends went to see Pokemon the First Movie. Then, I got Silver Version, my first Pokemon game ever. I loved it, with my totodile at my side, we ventured throughout Johto and beat every trainer that crossed our paths. Then I got Crystal Version. I liked that one even more because I could be a girl and the animations rocked. Now, at the age of fourteen, I love Pokemon just as strongly as ever. My friends all know I like Pokemon, and my best pal Laura even likes Pokemon too. She is the best at Pokemon Snap and her Blue Version she beat in just a matter of days. ^^ Now, on to the dear Ruby Version. I got this about a year ago. I am currently in Lilycove City, and tracking down Maxie of Team Magma, the fool stole the Blue Orb.....Oh! I also now have around 300 Pokemon cards, no doubles.
Weeeeeeeeeeell, that's how it alllllllllllll started. ^_~

I really can't remember. I think it was in the Kanto saga. The only thing I can remember is that the first episode I saw was the one with the diglets.

To be honest, I actually liked pokemon before it was 'officially' in the U.S. It was here, but it had just arrived. My parents had bought me my Christmas presents, and two of them were Electronic Japanese Charmander and Pikachu. My parents really didn't know what they were, but they were cute, and I was young. Little kids are easily entertained, so I guess they used it as a way to shut me up and make me happii. XD
Well after getting them, I thought they were so cute that I made my parents buy the games for me! But again, I was young, and didn't know what I was doing (7-8 yrs. old at the time). It probably wasn't till Yellow came out that I really understood how to play the game. Until then, I just thought the monsters were cute and watched the show. XD

I became a fan of pokemon when the first red and blue games came out in Japan (I think it was 1996 - 1997) before then I thought I would like it as I read up about it in magazines and on websites. I have liked pokemon ever since, so that would be 7 years.

those numbers seem wrong, considering your age. Pokémon game first hit American stores in September of 1998. It was first released in Japan in April (I think) of 1996. So if you are currently 15, the youngest you could've been when you started liking pokémon (and this assumes you liked it when it was in Japanese only) is 6-7.

Eh. My bro brought home some cards. I thought they were kinda neat, nothing more. Eventually, somehow, we both got into Pokémon big time.
